My absolute favorite restaurant! The food is always fresh and delicious. I happily drove an hour just for this meal. Every bite was worth it. Wishing your business continued success. I can't wait to come back!
I've eaten here many times and I've also had a lot of my friends coming back to this place because it's so tasty. I love their fish and chips, but I absolutely am crazy for the crayfish. Everything they do especially with that special sauce they make is incredible and I'm really looking forward to going back again. They're very well located on San Pablo Blvd. and you will not be disappointed if you go in there and order your mud bugs. Also, they're fishes succulent and tasty and the dipping sauce are superb. I highly recommend this place for anyone in the neighborhood.
Hubby and I were looking for Seafood, came across this and it did not disappoint! The food was amazing. We got there at 7:30 on Friday night, two parties ahead of us. The restaurant is small, basically 7 tables. 3 were together for a large party, and waitress immediately greeted us, explained that when the large party finished, they would split a table off for us and 7 person party ahead of us would get 2 tables, so probably 30 minute wait. Since the garlic smelled amazing, we waited. In about 30 minutes we all were seated. They do have a seating area, but the party ahead of us was sitting in it. After being seated with menus and water, we did wait some time, maybe 30 minutes, to have order taken. Since we could see the people receiving their food that we had watched seated ahead of us, we chatted and relaxed. They have a bar, but we don't drink. I'ld suggest getting drink from bar to sip during wait. There was one waitress, but this is seven tables, so she was efficient, professional, friendly. She patiently explained options. We ordered the shrimp boil, which was huge prawns, garlic butter mild! I had the salad which was crispy, fresh, with excellent dressing on side, cucumbers and tomatoes. Hubby ordered fish and chips, plus calamarie. It took another 30 minutes for food to arrive, but well worth the wait. The pound of shrimp was twice what I could eat. I don't eat carbs, (keto) but tasted the calamarie, which was some of the best I have had, not rubbery. The coating crispy without being covered with heavy batter. The fish the same, wonderfully crispy coating and chuncks of firm fresh fish inside. The fries I did not try, hubby didn't either, next time he would just order fish and calamari. I wanted him to try the Player platter, so I could taste various options. I will have to go back wth more adventurous friends. So about 90 minutes from walk-in till eating, but we were looking for leasurly casual date with good food, so this hit the spot. If you are looking for fast food, you should probably wait for another time. If you are looking for really good seafood, especially the boils, and don't mind waiting for a great meal, this is it. Could not see where to park in lot next door, so parked on street.
We stopped by 938 Crawfish and ordered a feast. Player's Plate, Fried Catfish with fries, and the Cajun Combo--and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The Player's Plate (5/5) came loaded: garlic noodles, fried catfish, prawns, and wings. Every bite hit. The fried catfish with fries was crispy, well-seasoned, and fresh--definitely a 5/5. And the Cajun Combo (half shrimp, half mussels with corn and potatoes) had great flavor. I really appreciate how they don't skimp on the garlic; those big chunks in the seafood boil are everything. It seemed like just one person was handling the front during our visit, but she held it down like a pro--friendly, efficient, and super helpful. Big props to her. And shout out to the chef--the catfish was perfect, the wings were solid, and the whole meal was clearly smackkkinnnn. Even though it felt like an off day for the staff, the food still came through. Parking can be hit or miss depending on the time of day, but it's manageable. Definitely recommend checking this spot out if you're in the mood for some solid Cajun/seafood.
The drinks have you speaking tongues. The owner and wait staff are awesome! The old fashioned made the cut according to an Army vet! The food was so fresh and so good. I'm coming back for sure!
First time here, celebrating my sister's birthday and it was like we were kicking it at a friend's house! I was able to make a reservation one day in advance for 7 people during peak dinner hours, and even called the same day to change our time with no issues whatsoever. They accommodated us right away and sat us even without my whole party present. Someone had called out, but we never even felt like service was slow or anything. This is a family owned and operated business, and we really felt like we were a part of that. Granted, we had quite a few shots, so alcohol tends to loosen up people but even without that, the whole staff were cool as heck. The food was delicious. Calamari (forgot to take a pic) was light and crunchy, served with cocktail and tartar sauces. The garlic noodles were super flavorful and stayed buttery. Some places tend to dry out and clump up, but not these! The seafood boils also had tons of flavor and spice. Medium was about as much as I could handle. Lol I think my absolute favorite dish was the Player's Plate. It comes with garlic noodles, 5 Tony's wings, 5 prawns and a huge catfish filet. Best bang for your buck, in my opinion. I would get that next time we go. And a special surprise was Tony's Style (Berkeley) was in the building. They were temporarily operating out of the space, so we had to get the shrimp and crab baguette. All that cheesy seafood goodness went perfect with our shots. Lolol Needless to say, we took home lots of leftovers. We had a blast, and I hope yall have a great experience too.
Have been trying to get here for a while. Finally made it in on a Saturday night. Hostess greeted us right away. Place was pretty full but we were seated right away. The hostess came and took our order pretty quickly. She was also the bartender and she provided excellent service. The drinks were very good and they don't skimp on the alcohol. The food came out pretty quickly and was delicious. The noodles were garlicky and tasty. The chicken and shrimp were very well seasoned and delicious. The catfish could have used a little more salt for my liking but still was fried to perfection and very good. The hostess/bartender checked in with us quite a few times to make sure everything was good. Nice vibes there. We had a great time. We will definitely be back. Also they had the cutest Halloween decor, I couldn't resist taking a picture with it :)
My first time going, the music set the mood and friendly waitstaff. I order snow crab legs with corn and sausage, the sauce was so good, it was the combo mild sauce .. can't wait to go back!

This place is LIT. Food great, staff great, drinks great. Great place to spend watching the dubs and football games if you're in the area. Periodically will have seasonal specials so definitely stay in tune with their social media. Family run business so can oftentimes feel short staffed but they make it up with amazing food, great vibes and fun times read more

Food was great! My children all approved, and they're some picky seafood eaters. The waitress was amazing, she was very attentive and took care of our every need. So boom, we finally had a chance to check 938 Crawfish out. I guess you could say I was expecting it to be like any other seafood spot !! To my surprise it was actually better than any other seafood spot I've been to . We decided to go eat here before hitting the bowling alley . I'm happy we did!!! If your familiar with me, ya know I started out with a cocktail . The Cabana was a good drink!! Hands down, A night with Michelle was very good (I'm a dark drinker). I was impressed with the full bar they have. The setup is pretty nice , laid back & casual . Soooo we started with , the Tony style wings!!! Y'all I almost ate chicken down to the bone !! I pick at my chicken, so if I'm eating down to the bone it's good. Cooked perfectly and the spices are on point ! Boom then to the garlic noodles !!! Ummmm the noodles are good! For me it's a plus the noodles are thick...Uh I kind of wish the garlic was cut smaller ! Had my breath on beast mode after !! Then we had a shrimp boil, with corn, potatoes & sausage!! Everything was so delicious !!! Like all boils, it came in a bag. What I really loved the wooden bowl it comes with . So we dumped the boil and it was great for dipping everything . I'd give it zero stars if I could. I was so excited to come grub here. Completely disappointed! Lacking flavor and super oily. We ordered the meal which includes crawfish, clams, mussels, shrimp, corn, potatoes, sausage, garlic noodles, fish and chips. The literally only gave us one piece of fish. It's a lot of food, but it's not good. Unremarkable. Their sauce is so oily the seasoning doesn't stick to the food at all. It was like a bowl of oil. Yuck. Skip this place and drive up 80 and go to Rockin Crawfish in San Pablo. The service was mediocre at best. They were out of lemonade and tea. Which forces people to drink soda. We stuck with water. I won't be back. We ordered the fried Oreos but I'm not waiting to get them to post the review. I doubt they'll change my opinion but I'm curious. read more

If you find yourself in Albany this place is a must go! So, I am not one to give a restaurant this kind of praise however this place is Slap yo Mama Good!!!!! I ordered the players plate it was ready early and had the best garlic noodles I've ever had in my life! I am a huge fan of garlic noodles it's one of my go-tos while traveling and these are the best I've ever had hands down! The wings were out of this world good! The catfish was absolutely cooked to perfection and wonderfully spiced. Last but certainly not least amazingly enough the shrimp were cooked to perfection, no rubbery shrimp!! they were perfect! At my parents house and had some free time so looked up some new spots to eat at since people can't keep mask on and stop spread of COVID cuz most of my normal spots were closed. I didn't know this place had been around for so long and so popular. Menu is downsized so that was a bummer but still end up with some good food. Garlic noodles was right on point. Right amount of Garlic and not hella greasy.. catfish was real good. Big man tho so the one piece was a cold piece for me haha.. but dang hella waffle fries. Love it read more

Okay, so my husband makes a mean crab so I don't go many places to taste crab but this might be one of the only places that I would pay for some crab that is not my mans okay! I'm thinking this is a place that gets really wild because when we came they basically had no more alcohol and I had to wait a million years for my glass of wine because they didn't have a cork screw so they had to use a knife, so I'm not complaining because of the effort that went into it. They didn't have orange juice so our waitress offered to walk next door to get some which was nice and weird lol. Anyway, it wasn't busy and we came on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the crab and mussels with potatoes and corn and combined the flavors omg mouth watering it was so good I ate it all and I never eat all my food. My husband ordered some kind of platter and he loved it he said the sauce on the wings was everything! And the shrimp and garlic noodles on the platter were good too very filling! 938 where do I start. This restaurant is hands down my favorite place to eat. The staff is really nice and friendly the food is bomb I mean i guess it has to be since i go once or twice a week every week. I usually get 4lb of crawfish combo seasoning spicy ( don't try spicy if you really aren't about that life ) The crawfish is by far my favorite thing to get. The crab is delicious and the players plate is hella good. If you drink try the "Night with Michelle" Ok clearly I love this place and i highly recommend. This is my favorite Asian Cajun spot. It's not just Asian Cajun, it's Southeast Asian. There's something different yet familiar and delicious about the taste. There are other options if boils aren't your thing. Staff are friendly. Love that this is a small family business. Support your small biz restaurants! Parking nearby is super clutch. There are at least 2 TVs here where I caught a Warriors game the last time I was here. Cocktail menu has a nice selection as well and something for everyone. read more

5/5 on the happy hour oysters! I usually don't like raw oysters but these ones were good and super affordable $1. I don't recommend the vinegar sauce that came with it though. 3/5 on the garlic noodle. I'm used to having dryer garlic noodle with cheese and garlic all over. This had one had a different texture and wasn't that great. 4/5 on the 1 lb of shrimp, mild, combo flavor. 4/5 the calamari was good but it didn't look cooked all the way. Service was slow but they were really friendly. They messed up our order on the shrimp but gave us our added potatoes eventually. Ambience is really chill but it can get very loud with people watching sports there. Overall had a good time here and food does the job. read more

Hot dayum... I KNOW I'll be comin' back to THIS spot again! First... they got me with the dranks. Next... they got me with them oysters. And THEN... the just killed my ass with the incredible flippin' music that they had playing in the background. Talk about a walk down memory lane! I have been revived! Writing this review as we speak, so excuse my tipsiness. I've been wanting to try this place for the longest! I've heard so many great things about their happy hour and their food and let me just say, they did NOT disappoint. It's one of those spots where you just wanna stay there all night long because the vibe is just so amazing. The bartender was super low key and fun! I could tell right off the bat that she was a local. She knew practically everybody at the bar by name which is definitely a good sign. Most of the people who were there were either regulars or locals. It's just your nice little neighborhood bar and restaurant. Parking was easy and the place was pretty empty when I arrived. By 7:30, the place was packed and jumpin' on a Tuesday! The interior setup was so cute! Loved the multicolored bar and the cabana-like dining area. The food was just delicious! The fish and chips looked small at first glance but it was super filling. The fried coating was perfect and the filets tasted great! You can choose your side of fries (regular, Cajun, curly, or waffle fries). I chose the waffle fries and they did not disappoint! They were crispy and flavorful and apparently a crowd favorite! I MUST rave about their garlic noodles and oysters! They were theeee BOMB! My friend ordered the garlic noodles and she had me basically eating off of her plate. The oysters took a while for them to prepare and actually came after my fish and chips. However, these oysters were large and fresh and most likely freshly shucked. And at a $1 a piece during happy hour, you just can't beat it! Speaking of happy hour, they have a fabulous one! They offer great deals on drinks and bar bites between 4 and 7 on the weekdays. Their cocktails are slammin'! many different flavors and the bartender makes 'em REAL strong! Their Jell-O shots are pretty tasty too. I'm not really a fan of Jell-O shots, but the mango shot made me feeling like a kid again! They make some really delicious Margaritas! I would say that this is probably one of their specialties. The music was just.... LIFE! When I heard "He Can't Love You" by Jagged Edge come on, I nearly lost my mind! I love hearing old songs that bring me back to my adolescence. I came back here today and I was honestly extremely disappointed with the service. When we first came in, they didn't even have a paper to put down our names on so we just casually waited around. When we finally got seated, it took forever for them to even take our order and for our order to arrive. We got there around 7:15 and didn't get our food until 8:40. Overall, the food was great and everything tasted wonderful but the service was terrible. We also asked for shrimp with no heads but we got a few with heads. Would not recommend if you have somewhere to go or want your food quickly. 3/8/18 I absolutely loved my experience here! The waitress was super nice and friendly and very welcoming. She added to the positive experience and created an enjoyable environment. As for the food, they were out of king crab legs so they offered me Dungeness crab instead and it was extremely tasty. I love the garlic butter sauce and am excited to try it again soon. The raw oysters during Happy Hour was great and definitely worth the price. I will be back to try other food on the menu! love love love 938 crawfish! if we are ever craving seafood boil, this is our go-to. definitely the best place for seafood boil in the east bay. we've had it 3 times since SIP, their service has been quick and easy. Our favorites are the crawfish, garlic noodles, and sweet potato fries but honestly EVERYTHING IS SO GOOD IN THEIR CAJUN COMBO SAUCE. We also love to save the leftover sauce and eat it over rice. DANG IT now I got myself craving this again. read more

Love garlic? Seafood? Cajun spices? Then look no further with this place. My family had a craving for a seafood boil and this place did not disappoint!! They were able to provide enough crab and shrimp for my family. I ordered the cajun combo mild sauce to go with my boil. The spice level was enough for those that wanted some kick but didn't burn anyone's tongue who couldn't handle the heat level. The garlic noodles were the .com!! Due to Covid the menu is limited, but what's still working is doing them justice! Didn't have difficulty ordering from what other reviewers are saying. They do have an instagram, so if anything when the landline is busy, they're prompt to answer through instagram as well. Tried 938 Crawfish for the first time today. The food was pretty good. At first the portion seemed small for the price, but I was stuffed when I finished. The sauce is very oil based and I prefer a butter base but it was still good. My husband got the shrimp combo flavor but medium spice level. It had red pepper flakes with a smoky taste. Overall we liked it and will order again. Customer service was excellent especially compared to competition a few exits up. read more

This is my new spot! Me and my friend came here to try something new that's local and we were not disappointed! I ordered the Cajun combo medium and the heat was right on point, as well as the seasoning and overall flavor. Literally the perfect Cajun sauce! I love seafood and I've been to many restaurants here in the Bay Area but let me tell you that 938 takes the win hands down! On top of the amazing food the prices are so affordable! We ordered 2lbs of shrimp added in sausage and corn, Cajun fires and a side of rice and we payed no more that $45!! Like whaaat!! The staff is super friendly, we had great customer service. The owner Tony was so nice and attentive as well, he came up to our table to check in asked if everything was good and if we needed anything, very humble guy. After Alameda's Bucket O' Crawfish the night before, I was hankering for another cajun seafood boil near my hotel in Berkley. I quickly stumbled upon 938 Crawfish and hopped in my car. The Yelp location is a bit misleading as the restaurant is not in the u-shaped strip mall the map suggests. It is just around the corner past the doughnut establishment and has a simple black and white sign outside. Despite being a Wednesday night, the place was packed and noisy. Eating solo (as I often have to on business trips) I found a seat at the bar in the far corner. The 'tender let me know I had 60 minutes left for happy hour (until 7 PM) and I quickly ordered some house wine and started to peruse the menu. I waxed and waned about what exactly to order. The bartender told me I could get 1/2 a pound of my desired seafood. Typically I like the combination platters offered and "The Combo" had everything except for crab. The only thing holding me back was the suggestion it was good for two people @ $32. I decided to go with it and I'm SO glad I did! As you will see from my picture, "the combo" is just right for one hungry person. If I had to order it again, I'd probably add .5 lbs crab, but I was happy enough with my food overall. If I had to compare 938 with other cajun seafood boil establishments, I'd probably kick it down a notch with the uninspiring seasoning and raucous bar experience. Then again I thoroughly enjoyed the happy hour and bar service, so I feel like a return trip is in order next time I'm in town. read more
