    Loaded Fries
    Ariana A.

I love trying out food from food trucks, and a few times when Hercules has local events, Loaded Chickn is there. Twice now we have gotten the loaded fries which comes with cut up chicken tenders, sliced pickles, coleslaw/ lettuce type garnish, and cheese all over French fries. We always share the loaded fries among 3 people, and I think it is a good amount for $10. Since we've only come across this food truck at events, lines are long and the wait time is long, but it's expected when everyone in Hercules shows up and there are only 2-3 staff members. The folks working the truck are nice also, so I look forward to Loaded Chickn whenever they come around.

I was so happy to see a new food truck parked outside Costco's parking lot. After an afternoon of running my pups at nearby Pt. Isabel, this place was a welcome sight. We ordered the Double Combo which consisted of two juicy chicken sandwiches and an order of fries for only $15. The sandwiches were topped with some amazing sauce, cheese, slaw, fresh onions, etc... It is a messy sandwich, but it sure makes me want to come back for more! Already making plans as to when my next trip will be. My pups will love the frequent trips to Pt. Isabel. Great friendly service!

Stopped by on Saturday after shopping at Costco. Very good customer service. Meal was great well seasoned, fresh and so tasty. Will definitely be back. Good amount of food for the price.

So I was Costco in Richmond and decided to try out loaded chickn on my way out. So let discuss... It's a little food truck with a limited menu but I kinda like that..waited bout 10 minutes for the food so that was cool. I got the loaded fries...it's fries topped with chicken and cilantro slaw pickles and cheese sauce. So the portion of the chicken is on point and big pieces thru out every bite had a big piece. The cheese sauce was plentiful as well as the slaw..was I wondering how the pickles fit in and it works. Here's were I didn't care for it..everything was on point but the fries! I so wanted to like this! That was the reason for the 3 stars..the fries they were way over cooked. The chicken was good and all the toppings even the pickles! But those fries made it not good. But I'm going to go back and request my fries not to be overcooked and I'll edit my. But as my first experience I was disappointed

Nice big portion enough for two people, fried chicken nicely seasoned and large pieces. The slaw, cheese, and special sauce were amazing. Fries were hot and generously seasoned. Chicken sandwich w same ingredients was very delicious. Would definitely come back.

We always go by this food truck by the Richmond Costco and see a line. I'm so glad my husband went by today. Their loaded chicken sandwiches are fabulous. They have a little bite to them. You have new customers for life!!! I would only say one thing...more choices of bread (wheat or sour dough)or lettuce wraps and choice of sweet potato fries for people with diabetic or health restrictions Still solid 5 star!

Loaded fries with small white animal looking hair.

I was real excited about finally getting a chance to try what I heard was super good. As soon as I opened the tray I took a picture and then noticed a small white hair on my fries. I guess one of the workers has a pet. I removed the animal hair and ate my food since I already paid and left. The food was ok but the animal hair made me not want to ever try them again. I hardly ever eat fried food anyway since its incredibly bad for you.

The construction of the sandwich is where things fall short for me. The bread to meat ratio is just off, and the flavors don't quite hit the way a good banh mi should. There's a balance you expect with a well made banh mi and this one doesn't really land there. I get that sometimes you just need a backup option when your favorite spot isn't available, and for that purpose it fills a gap. But if Ba Le is open, there's really no reason to settle here when the real thing is right around the corner.

I had high hopes given the name and the largely positive Yelp reviews. I'd liken my assessment of this shop to that of a teacher who instructs students from the same family in different classes: Even though objectively you know that each person (or sandwich) should stand on their own merits or lack thereof, it is hard not to compare, especially if a prior experience was so stellar that it set a standard for the brand. This Banh Mi Ba Le is located in a small, humble strip mall occupied by an array of mom-and-pop shops, including a nail salon, electronics repair store and various ethnic restaurants. There are parking spaces in front of the stores, as well as along San Pablo Avenue. The shop is a small, no-frills spot offering an array of takeaway pre-packaged Vietnamese food, cold drinks and made-to-order sandwiches. Upon entering, an older man with a proprietary air was the only visible staff person. I asked if this spot is related to the one on International; he said that that one is run by his niece. Food and beverages in front of the counter are self-service. I ordered my go-to sammie on International, the BBQ chicken (coincidentally the number nine, both here and on International). The pricing for that sandwich is comparable: $6.50 in El Cerrito, $6.30 in Oakland. The El Cerrito version was solid, but not as good as the one from the hood. Even though I was quite hungry, I was not that interested in the second half of the banh mi. The bread lacked the crispness of the one on International and the chicken, though flavorful, was more chopped up and, well, mushy, like chunk canned chicken. I like a little kick, but had to remove the jalapenos slices after a few bites because they were too powerful. As for the service, when we arrived in the early afternoon on a Saturday, we were the only customers. Almost immediately after we entered, the man behind the counter made eye contact, ready to take our order, eager to serve. Within minutes, we left with a bag of carefully wrapped and bagged sandwiches. Overall, it was a fine experience, but, since the sandwiches were mediocre, I'd not go out of my way for another visit.

I know it's not their fault, as minimum wage grows way out of hand, and they have to pay their employees the same no matter how many or how few customers come through the door. I am OK with a living wage, but there should be a separate "living with your parents" wage that is not as excessively high. Teens whose needs are met by their parents don't need to make $20 an hour making sandwiches. This is what befalls all restaurants, and I don't know how any of them survive. Also, I can't prove it, but I think their sandwiches are getting smaller. This is where they lose a star.

With a franchise location now in El Cerrito (yay!), I can't help but love the fun and quirky sandwich titles like the Jaymee Sirewich and Going Home for Thanksgiving, also all the nodes to Bay Area sports like the Beast Mode and Madison Bumgarner. From the famous Dutch Crunch sandwich rolls to the dirty sauce that's added to every sandwich (secret recipe), to the Caramel Apple Lollipop (very nostalgic to grade school), and Zapp's potato chips with a node to Nola, it's always a good time with Ike's. I recently tried the Mozzarella's Big Cheese: Halal Chicken, Honey Mustard, Real Honey, Provolone (and added avo) on Dutch Crunch. Delicious! You can order your sandwiches also in a bowl, with gluten free bread, or can ask for the innards of the roll to be removed for those that still want some bread but not so carby. To note, you can also request Vegan dirty sauce. They have a pretty cool array of vegan and veggie sandwich options, really catering to all sandwich lovers and folks that don't mind stepping outside the box, getting their hands a little messy, and enjoying an overall exciting experience from the norm. I'm all for it. With this location you can order ahead on the website for pickup, which seems to be the move to beat the school/kiddo rush during peak hours.
