I use to come here all the time and now this one time I come here and I have Emma as a bartender. She seemed less than thrilled to be working giving me half assed answers for questions regarding the menu. Honestly I wouldn't return again Update to owners response: As a patron we do not care what server is "usually" friendly or great to other people. That's pretty much saying to the customer it's you she didn't like. Which is more frightening because then you're dealing with a whole different type of problem. I also doubt that's she usually great even if she had a few customer accolades. The level of service we had from the moment we sat at the bar with her in comparison to other visits was very low. The couple next to me had a few thing to say under their breath as well. I had not been in long enough to see if it was just a few of us or what but I can say she did greet us, she did not check to see how our food or drinks had been. She did not engage in any simple chat. She did however whisper and talk to other employees when I was upset about my order. She did look annoyed when I asked for something. She did bring menus to the couple next me super later after them asking (hence why they had been annoyed too). I could go on and on about the service I experienced but looking at past reviews I see this is not out of the norm for the establishment anymore. Everyone has a off day but I would like to go into a establishment that knows how to keep personal problems at home and take care of customers. It's a mutual respect you'll gain a loyal and respectable crowd if you can have engaged and customer friendly employees. My wife and I decided to give 86 West a try for lunch and had an interesting experience... I ordered the 86 West Burger and it came out extremely burnt looking. I don't like to waste food but I pointed it out to the waiter and he agreed and offered to have a new one made. It was completely burnt all around the whole burger, even the cheese on top was burnt (don't know how it got sent out of the kitchen like that). After about 10 minutes I see our waiter walking out with the new burger and he slipped, lost control of the plate, and just barely managed to catch the whole thing up against his shirt/chest. I see him run back inside and then about 30 seconds later a new waiter brings out the burger to me. It was unfortunate... I saw the whole thing and they still made the decision to serve it when I think it probably should've been redone again even though I was ready to just leave at that point and get food elsewhere. read more

I had to write a review, I'm so surprised at the negative comments on this site! The only thing I would somewhat agree with is the service. It took a long time to get a waitress to our table, but once she did... she was great. The food was FANTASTIC. My husband and I shared the blackened sushi roll and the spanish roll - both absolutely to die for. Then after that, we shared the brussel sprouts and the flat bread. Great atmosphere...lovely outdoor setting. But I ordered the pad thai and it tasted like noodles with instant Simply Asia sauce (NOTHING like pad thai). When I told the waitress she didn't offer to take it back and it wasn't discounted or taken off the bill when we finished our lunch. Slow service overall, even when the place wasn't crowded. The servers here were INCREDIBLY rude to my brother. Their credit card machine was down, and when my brother called to tell them to let them know his card was ok and it must be their machine we overheard them calling him a "deadbeat" I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER go to this restaurant again. The happy hour special was great, the food was B+, and the service was great, but the sushi was "backed up" and not served with rest of our order. In fact, the manager came over and apologized for the hold up.Then a bit later the manager (older redhead woman) had the nerve to ask us to leave since she had a reservation that was waiting. We were appalled. She must have realized how rude she was because she came and offered us a round of drinks at the bar but still wanted us to give up the table. Me and a group of friends went to 86 last friday. While we were waiting for our table we went to the bar. My girlfriend and I ordered mind eraser shots from the bartender kat. She was incredibly rude and asked us if we were on a mission to get drunk. We ignored it at first but then we ordered another round of shots and she rolled her eyes at us and told us she hadn't made that kind of shot in 20 years. We weren't the only people put off by her attitude, as we found out other bar patrons had the same experience. We approached the manager and he gave us a free round in an attempt to make things right but it didn't change the fact that we were just blatantly disrespected by the bartender as paying customers. It didn't seem like there were any repercussions for her actions. It's safe to say we will never return. Horrible experience all around. read more

Outdoor seating is awesome - had the ahi tuna sliders, very tasty - sauce is excellent. Happy hour half price wine is always a plus. Pleasant servers, timely service, good prices. I would definitely return! read more

We always have a fun time here. The sushi is always great, but like any restaurant on a busy weekend night, the staff has to hustle to keep up good service. Went here this past weekend for my birthday celebration on the reccomendation of a friend, and it was a great experience! The restaurant is clean, modern and classy with a warm ambiance. We were seated in the back by the second bar, right infront of the fire place- it was the perfect spot. The food and drinks were absoulutely phenomenal. To start I ordered the Japanese Tea Sandiwchs (spicy tuna & my bf got the salmon)- so SO delicious. Then I split the shashimi extravaganza with my boyfriend and it was out of this world. Everything was fresh and tasteful. My friends had other sushi rolls which they loved and the steak as well which was equally amazing. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was because our male server was very pushy and you could tell he was trying to get us out of there (even though they weren't at full capacity) He just kept hounding us every 5 minutes as to what we wanted to eat and drink- didn't care for that very much. And also some of the female bar patrons were very loud and obnoxious at times, but that is to be expected at any bar. read more

86 west is a newer addition to the downtown Doylestown restaurant/bar locations. I stopped in with my girlfriend last week to meet some friends for drinks. The atmosphere was fun and energetic. The interior was nicely decorated and felt classier than some bars in town. The beer was cheap which is always a plus. I recommend to anyone looking for a good place to meet friends, which doesn't require you to be rubbing elbows with everyone in the restaurant since this is quite a spacious bar. read more

Sushi did not taste particularly fresh & was quite average quality and taste for the cost. We tried many special rolls along with the usual rolls (tuna, Salmon, veggie). Also not impressed with tuna app & wonton that accompanied it over fried to almost burnt level. The outdoor seating provided nice place to relax. read more

Music too loud. Service disappointing; younger staff don't seem to care about their guest, more interested in their conversations. Decent size menu, but nothing that will knock your socks off. The only thing I do really like there is their goat cheese fritters, but the high price is not worth the food or service. Might be better as a bar than a full dinner. My husband and I eat here pretty often and really enjoy it. The atmosphere is very fun with two bars inside and one outside. I am a vegetarian and there are plenty of options available, appetizers and entrees. They have also been very accommodating by creating vegetarian sushi rolls for me that were not on the menu. One thing (small thing) that is kind of annoying is their martini glasses are very, very small. They have a great menu of fun drinks, but it's not much bang for your buck at $12 each! Other than that, it's one of my favorite places to go in Doylestown. Definitely check it out! read more

Not worth it. Went here for my birthday the other day and the service was absolutely horrible, while the food was average. Was super excited and drove 30 minutes to go to dinner here because I have been there once before and it was great. But it has for sure gone down hill since then. Our waitress was very inattentive and neglected to get us refills all night. We also had to wait at least 20 minutes with empty plates in front of us in order to get the bill. We had told them it was my birthday when we made the reservations but nothing was done to celebrate this. It is a shame that the service is lagging and it does not match up with the expensive price for the food at this place. Very disappointed in the whole experience. read more

I'm new to the area and stopped by this location just over the past weekend about 7:30 PM. The place was quite noisy and crowded, but our server helped us quickly and the food was great. Would recommend that you come on the early side if you prefer a quiet location, but all of the food was good and the sushi was top-notch. Would definitely recommend. read more

86 West is one of those places that offers a little bit of everything - it is a bar, it is a restaurant, it serves Asian food, American food... but nothing that I came across there was really outstanding. The atmosphere was clean and modern, and the service was fine. The fish and chicken dishes we ordered were not very flavorful, and were pretty ordinary at best. The most memorable thing we had was one of the sushi rolls. The drinks menu likewise offered little to get excited about. Just had lunch there today and while the food was very good the place was dirty. We sat at the bar by the door and the bar was sticky, there were dirty glasses all over, and most important the floor area behind the bar and around the sink area was disgusting! Great atmosphere and the sushi is really awesome. Sometimes there is quite a wait for the sushi, but good things are worth the wait!

Our party had lobster mac and cheese, beet carpacio (sp?) and blackened chicken. It was awesome and our server Tara was great. The dollar martinis were a nice touch then funnel cake for dessert. There were 5 of us for a friends birthday last night and we went to 86 West. It was so hot out that we couldn't wait to get inside and get a drink. Well, the inside wasn't much cooler but we were informed that the AC was kicking. Maybe it was the table by the front door that we didn't want to sit at. That was our only complaint! We all love this place and ordered our usual drinks! I highly recommend the WHITE GRAPE COSMO/MARTINI...OMG its FAB! Usually they put a frozen grape in it but they didn't have any last night. We were greeted promptly by our server, Dierdre(?). She told us that sushi would be a bit long tonight and to order some appetizers first. She gave some recommendations and we ordered Guac and Chips, Calamari and Buffalo Chicken Flat Bread! All were great! We told our server that it was our friends birthday. We put in our sushi order, a Crazy Roll, Red Dragon Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, 86 West Roll and a Tuna Crunch Roll(which we cancelled due to the fact the we ordered too much food). Our server kept reordering our drinks and kept us up to date with the sushi status. All of our drinks and food were great! We were yapping away and drinking that we didn't notice the forever time it took to get our amazing sushi! Our server on the sly asked me what our birthday girls favorite flavor was and I said Vanilla, she said great because we do a birthday cupcake. How nice! Plates swept away and out comes a vanilla cupcake with a birthday candle and she started singing Happy Birthday! Despite the overwhelming heat and very long time for sushi we had a wonderful time! I just had a delicious dinner with a starter of zuccini fries (highly recommended), seared scallops w/ tender snap peas. A dessert of an creme de Brule that absolutely finalized a wonderful dinning experience. Our service was very kind and had the will to do anything we may have needed. Favorite spot in Doylestown! They've got some creative options for sushi (I would recommend the Tataki Maki) and their pub grub is even better (juicy burgers, crispy wings).
