I'm giving this place 3 stars because of the atmosphere: The bars outside are a lot of fun. Came here with some friends on a Saturday night. We were told it would be a little over an hour for a wait. We weren't starving, so we headed to the outside tiki bar for some drinks. About a half-hour later, we were seated outside for dinner. I ordered the Black & Blue burger with fries. The burger came with no garnishes and did not have any bacon on it (the burger is supposed to come with bacon, creamy blue cheese and jalapeno marmalade). My friend ordered the same thing and her burger didn't have bacon on it either, so I assumed it was in the dressing. I felt the burger left something to be desired. I think lettuce or bacon would of been great, something with a crunch. My plate was literally a pile of fries, a bun with a patty slabbed in the middle. The blue cheese sauce was delicious, though. My friend ordered the oyster shooters and the ahi tuna sliders. He said they were pretty good. read more

We decided to try 86 West on New Year's Eve for a late lunch. We were not disappointed. Our waiter was great. Friendly, helpful, professional. The food exceeded our expectations. I had the crab and scallop combo over saccheti pasta. Delicious, and the scallops were huge and prepared perfectly. A ton of crab meat, too. The hubs had the fish tacos. They were delicious. It has been a while since last I posted a review - not that I haven't wanted too...... But alas me thinks too much imbibing hath withered my wittiness from time-to-time. So - before my Pinot Grigio takes over completely.... 86 West in downtown Doylestown has continued to set the bar for other establishments in a crowded market. I can honestly say that my first mate (my wife will cringe when she reads that) and I have never had a bad meal here. Although occasionally service waivers, the food is always top shelf. On the topic of service- the first mate and I (again with the remote cringes) almost always seek-out Jenny at whatever bar she is serving. Jenny (forgive the 12 year-old impression you are conjuring-up with this ..... ) is the consummate professional. Food is great-some of best sushi around. Service is hit or miss. Some awesome servers and a couple that are simply awful.

Part and parcel of the Knight house fame, it is a nice compliment to the pre or post dinner meal. Albeit you can grab a sushi plate at 86 West and it is made right in front of you. Nice outdoor venue, spacious modern themed furnishings. Service was great too. The tenders took care of us withour delay. $$$ three symbols as it NYC priced but worth it. read more

I love this place! I usually get the big T's burger or their salmon but I just tried their west coast chicken sandwich and I have a new favorite! :) Not to mention that I've never had better calamari. Worst Experience!! Made a reservation and requested an outside seat on the reservation because of an event going on in town. Showed up 15 mins early and was told they don't reserve outside seating? For 2 weeks they sat on my reservation and never told me they did not reserve outside till I showed up! They do not communicate with their customers as we would have understood if they would denied the reservation up front, however waiting till we show is not acceptable. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere where they appreciate your business!! read more

I was sitting at the bar and the floor under the sushi prep area had food and plastic gloves and dirt and grime and all sort of gross garbage all over the place, i wanted to puke. This is an awesome bar to come to for happy hours during the summer (great outdoor area) but gets CROWDED. Sushi is on point -- very tasty and their signature rolls are a decent size. Prices are pretty standard for the quality. Lobster Mac is delicious! read more

Bartenders outside are top notch! They pour a good drink and are very attentive. They have arguably the best happy hour in town at 1/2 off all drinks. Love stopping in for happy hour, especially when the weather is nice. Something about the inside rubs me the wrong way. Could be the clientele as it gets a bit snooty in there, but that's not the staffs fault. So, I would suggest getting there around 3:45-4:00 and having some drinks. Very hard to get to the bar once 5:00 rolls around. read more

great happy hour specials. we sat outside and enjoyed drinks - i had the red sangria & it wasn't too sweet - you could taste alcohol in it. i had the steak sliders with horseradish on them with a side salad - just the right amount of food. their fries are to die for too. read more

Our server, Kim, was playing with her nails instead of taking our order and couldn't answer any of our questions about food or drinks. Not my favorite dining experience. Went in for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Most of the staff was lounging about since the place was nearly empty, though, it was around 1:00 still...not quite the afternoon lull. What was worse than the lounging around was the fact that many of the servers had food stains all over their clothes...especially the sushi chef rolling at the station near the front door. Had me questioning hygiene as it appeared the jacket we was wearing hadn't seen a load of laundry in months. Some fellow I assumed to be in a management position took a prime 6 top at the front of the restaurant with a view out into the street with his laptop up and his phone ringer continuing to go off. The waiter served me a split of Prosecco with a rocks glass and failed to open the bottle. The food took forever to come out of the kitchen and was lackluster, though, I was not surprised by the fact that the menu options had failed to inspire to begin with. Stopped in for a drink and was informed by the bartender that the manager saw my girlfriend "stumble" on the way in and said she was not permitted to order a drink. The funny part of the story is that this was our first stop! What she did have was high heels that caught on to something on the ground while she was walking and caused her to stumble. Very rude and stupid! Ask some questions and find out what's going on before you make judgements from a far! Talk to the person... find out if they actually seem intoxicated. As an attorney, I completely understand that a bar has a responsibility not to serve those who are intoxicated, but given that she had not had a drink yet all day, this was not somebody performing their duty, this was someone making a spot judgment from across the room about a woman who stumbled because she was wearing heels. A group of us went to 86 west since the Knight House next door didn't have any available seating. The decor was very nice. It was pretty difficult to walk through the front to be seated at our table. The bar had many guests that were gathered all around. It seemed busy so I had a good first impression. We were seated by the kitchen area which was uncomfortable as you can hear chefs yelling and shouting inappropriate remarks. Our waitress Laura promptly greeted us and our martinis were delicious. We then waited for a half hour to have our orders taken. We got some sushi and appetizers to share. Our food came out in a weird pattern. We received appetizers one by one but we didnt get our sushi for about an hour. We assume she forgot about it. We sat without water after being told she would be back. The sushi was very nice. The appetizer plates not so much. I would recommend going here for some drinks at the bar but having service seating is unpleasant. I will return read more

I have NEVER taken the time to write a review in my life... BUT... I have been coming to this place for years to drink with friends...always fun. I came last night to have a nice meal with my wife for our anniversary ( 25th no less! ) The waitress was rude and annoying ( YES YOU.. with the frizzy long strawberry blond/red hair...) and the food took OVER AN HOUR to come out from the time we were seated. Barely any effort to apologize or make it better... I've been offered a comp drink for a minor inconvenience, but nada.. bupkis... While the Sesame Tuna and the Fantastic Roll were great when they finally came....I've never been treated like this before. ANYWHERE!!! In my own town, in one of my favorite bars... Major Bummer. 23 years in town. Kids out of the house for the past 5. We eat out about 6/7 days a week. 86 has become our go to place. One of the friendly faces is Jenny. Like no other!!! My wife and I have been trying to like this place since it is one of the few places to eat in town. Busy place which is great. The food is in need of a makeover. The wine is over priced. Canyon Road is the best you can offer a glass? The beer selection is poor. To say the least. Especially with easy accessibility to better beers now. The food we ate felt as if the chef fell asleep and left my wife and I saying we could have made our dinner in a microwave. Possibly spent 70 dollars less. Not great food. Lol server Chris really showed no interest in our concerns about the food. We made a mention to the buser of our concerns and my girlfriend heard the server question our concerns because of what I ate which was only because we don't really want to make a fuss because we order what we order because the server never came to check with us about our concerns even as he dropped the check. I personally had to make a mention of it to make sure he knew that the food was a concern because we usually like this place and I have friends that work there but yeah food was below good as usual and he didn't seem to want to worry about our concerns. read more

This is my favorite place in town. I love their sushi. Great atmosphere, I love the back patio in the fall and summer time. The staff is friendly and good service. My fiancee's boss took us out to dinner here on a rainy Thursday. I've heard mixed reviews from friends around town, and was excited to try another new place in my new home of Doylestown. This place would have easily been 4-star worthy if the service was up to par. We were seated relatively quickly and had finished our drinks (half price drinks 5-7, what what) in a few minutes. 15 minutes go by, no waitress. We walk to the front to ask where the hell she is, then she shows up. Takes our drink order, comes back 15 minutes later spilling our drinks on the ground (we think she may have enjoyed some happy pills) and then disappeared AGAIN for 15 minutes before taking our food order. This was not a busy place. We ordered sushi for appetizer and some sandwiches. Of course the food all came out at the same time (a half hour later) because the sushi chef was "behind" even though there was NO ONE IN THE RESTAURANT. mind blowing. I am never one to complain about service but wow was it bad. Imagine taking a bite of a burger and chasing with a soy-sauce/wasabi soaked shrimp tempura roll, yikes. Unfortunately, the food was fantastic. Not too do often you get great sushi and a fantastic burger under the same roof, but this place really pulled it off. Fresh sushi, prepared well, great presentation, just delicious. I got the Wild West Burger (avacado, garlic aoili, etc). It was big, juicy, cooked well, fresh toppings, amazing brioche bun. My fiancee got the lettuce wraps (snoozefest) but she raved about how good they were. Prices were about what you'd expect from a solid Doylestown restaurant. The space is nice, service was pretty good considering it was teenagers who don't really know what they are doing. But the reason this place gets one star is the food. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees, all terrible. Let's start with chicken lettuce wraps: For lettuce they used iceberg, I don't have anything against iceberg lettuce but you can't wrap anything in it. The chicken part was made with a supermarket teriyaki sauce. I also found a sticker from the vegetables in the chicken stir fry part of the dish. I had tilipia in thai cream sauce. It was more like bland coconut milk soup with unseasoned tilapia and soggy vegetables. My husband had rib eye which poor quality steak and neither steak or potatoes had salt. The potatos were cold. Place is probably okay for drinks, but don't eat there. read more

i am absolutely outraged! I have spent over 2 hours in this restaurant in the company of my rude and moody waitress, Tina. Upon my arrival, i was greeted by the hostess and wait staff who was anything but welcoming. I waited over an hour for my food that was subpar at best. As a culinary arts personnel i could have personally created a better meal for me and my 10 friends in half the time! My check could not be split so i spent 20 minutes doing the math for the individual costs all while being rushed by my waitress. We came on a Thursday evening. I so wanted to love it here. It got two stars because it did have a nice ambience. I was so looking forward to a nice meal and was sadly disappointed. We started our meal at the bar where we had cocktails. I had a gin drink that claimed to be a cucumber gin cocktail, but was really just a glorified gin and tonic with a couple shaved slices of cucumber as a garnish. They do offer a 5 to 7 happy hour so it was half-price so all in all it was worth it. At our table we ordered several appetizers (there was 6 of us) the pulled pork flatbread was mediocre at best, the calamari under seasoned and extremely chewy. The tuna roll was tiny, not extremely tasty and no pizzazz whatsoever. I think it was most disappointed in my main meal. I had a New York strip steak that was supposed to come out with mashed potatoes but I opted to get brussels sprouts instead. It also came with onion rings. I don't think they put any type of season whatsoever on the steak. They tried to mask that with a little A1 steak sauce but that's always a bad idea. The steak itself was cooked correctly a nice medium rare, so I was pleased with that even though I only ate about five bites of it. The brussels sprouts that they sent out were just cut in half and basics just boiled, without any salt pepper or again seasoning. Blah!! Last but not least the onion rings. They were tempura battered but again no salt in the batter. The onion rings were bland and flavorless. All in all as you can probably tell, I was extremely disappointed with my meal. read more
