This place is great! We mKe it a point to visit every time we are in Eugene. Greyson is a true craftsman. Outstanding cocktails.

We had a ton of fun dressing the era and going for a drink. The bartenders were amazing and fun, excellent service. Delicious prohibition specific drinks. The food was so yummy too. Not loud or too dark. Tips: Must make reservation!

I loved the concept of having to find this place and give a password. The experience was so cool! That earned an extra star! We ordered the steamed clams, and they were pretty yummy. I would've liked more garlic flavor. And more bread. I ordered some at an extra charge, but they gave us crostinis instead. The crostinis were way too hard/crunchy for the sauce. And they didn't have the grilled flavor of the original bread. Meh. Then I tried to take the sauce to go, but they said they don't have any containers. More meh. Drinks were delicious though!

After hearing so much about this place, we decided to check it out. It's a fun concept to reserve online, wait for your password to arrive the day of reservation and then find the door marked Janitor in the lobby of the Gordon Hotel. Flip the switch at the door, and a little cutout in the door will be openen and you provide the password, and you are IN.... Fun! The speakeasy is small with about 10 bar stools and 10 tables. We were seated at the bar which was perfect since we just came in for a drink. Nice prohibition era cocktail choices like Manhattan, Sazerac, Aviator etc. The bartender was very nice and friendly and mixed an awesome cocktail! Gorgeous glassware and a beautiful decor makes for a fun time, despite the cocktail being on the small-ish side and pricey. I am glad we did not come for dinner since the food choices are limited to appetizers only. It is worth checking them out if you have never been!

Happened to get a super last minute reservations the drinks were very good. Maybe even stronger than anticipated lol. They do appear to be very strict about their reservation policy as a couple before us was turned away for being late and their spots (seemingly) stayed empty the whole time we were there. But this is likely not uncommon amongst speakeasy's. Nothing overly special inside but we had a nice time overall!

This place is super fun, and the cocktails are really delicious and creative. You make a reservation online and get a text with the password and then there's a whole little ritual where you go the "Janitor's Closet". The bartender was friendly and sassy. The hostesses were friendly and attentive. We got some tasty calamari with our drinks and enjoyed ourselves and the atmosphere. I got a vodka cocktail, and a second one that was a variation on a Negroni. There are no non-alcoholic options unless you request them (but they did make one for my spouse, who doesn't drink, who said it was okay.)

This is an intimate space and their reservation process ensures everyone has a wonderful experience. Friendly staff that offer quality cocktails at reasonable price. Tip: show up a bit early to scope out the location and have a drink or dinner at the hotel lobby restaurant/bar.

    Just a janitor's closet...or is it?

Date: 9/30/23 Drinks: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Management: 5/5 TL;DR: I loved everything about this spot...and I don't even drink!! As a die-hard drinker who only imbibes when the brews are nonalcoholic and un-carbonated, I am far from the ideal candidate for a craft cocktail establishment...but my dining partner and I found ourselves pleasantly surprised at 86. To begin with, the "process" of getting into the establishment, while some might accuse as being gimmicky, is a great deal of fun. Finding the janitor's closet, ringing the bell, providing the password through a slot in the door, and being welcomed into a perfectly 20's-esque interior is nothing short of thrilling. Background music and the conversation of others blended together in the small room to create an atmosphere that was energetic but not frenetic. The mixologist at the bar was absolutely amazing--she respected our preferences and crafted three STUNNING zero-proof drinks of which we enjoyed every single sip. (The NA espresso martini was a surprise hit!) Although we did not enjoy any of the food from the menu of small bites, I found myself licking my lips as I watched plates of snacks and slider sandwiches sail by...next time I visit (and there WILL be a next time!) I will definitely come for the food, too. Thank you, 86, for such a unique, memorable experience and for being so accommodating. You have officially won our loyalty whenever we visit the city!

We ordered their house hefeweizen and I thought it was good. Daughter had a cider and appreciated it. Food ordered were two pork chop plates and a salmon. These were beautifully presented and tasty. The pork chop was a little tough for my taste, but honestly all pork seems to be that way because of the changes in hog care/feed. I think the restaurant is very pretty, but all the surfaces are hard. Consequently, it is very loud. I would return here and try appetizers, which looked great!

They were able to seat our party of of nine, including toddler, fairly easily though we did need to call because nine is 'overbooked'. Thanks for getting us in, Gordon! The menu is not extensive but everyone found something that suited them well. I picked the burger, and it was excellent. Kudos to the chef for getting it fully well done; oftentimes I order a burger this way and it comes out with some pink on it. The bacon was also cooked through, another item that usually comes half cooked or less. It was accompanied with fries and I was really pleased with my choice. Some of the others got the short rib, salmon, and steak and everyone was happy with the meal. I decided to get an alcoholic beverage and was torn between the Starry Night and the Oregon Mule. I don't usually like a mule, but this one had marionberry vodka and I'm a sucker for just about anything with marionberry flavor so I went for it. I was surprised how much I liked this drink, because ginger beer usually is far too overpowering and here it was well balanced with the rest of the drink. I would order this again, and probably liked it better than the bit of the Starry Night I tasted from my sister. They also have seasonal drinks and lots of beers and wines to choose from. It's in the Gordon Hotel, so it's hard to miss (except I did, because for some reason I didn't make the connection that the Gordon Tavern was of course the restaurant at the Gordon Hotel). There's parking across the street that I believe is free for up to three hours.

I should have looked for street parking. I went on Saturday at 6pm, maybe that's why it was crazy expensive. Gosh, this price was more expensive than parking in Los Angeles. The restaurant was very cute, service was great. Food was very good. However, my lasagna was 1.5" x 4". I guess I got the mini/kids size lasagna. My son got the pepperoni pizza and he liked it. Pizza is pizza, it was good. his roommate got the chicken fettuccine. His portion was very generous and he loved it. We all enjoyed it and I would definitely go here again but not park in their parking lot.

The bartender was very nice and I ordered a scotch. The pour was generous and the price was as expected. Once my friend arrived we were shown our table, given our menus and told the specials. So far it was a nice experience. We settled on our choices and waited for our server to return. It took longer that I would have hoped and the restaurant was not very busy. I ordered the Pasta al Limone, my friend ordered the Butternut Squash and Gorgonzola Ravioli. We were then told they were out of the Ravioli. Would have loved to have known that at the beginning. After a few awkward moments to come up with a second try the Fennel and Sausage Rigatoni was the choice. The food was fine but nothing special. My sauce was thick and not expressing any lemon flavor. The pasta was fine but again nothing to write home about. The same with the rigatoni, all of it was fine but I can get fine at a lot of places. Overall, the ambiance was nice, the service was okay and the food was not completely disappointing. That is about it. I would go back if someone invited me but I will not have this on my list of places to revisit any time soon.

Both were outstanding and way better than I expected. To be honest, the pasta dish was one of the best I have ever had and this is one dish that I am critical of because I have had really good Jambalaya pasta and some bad ones. This one was way way up there. The sausage was excellent and the chicken and shrimp were perfect, but the sauce made the dish. I can not wait to have it again. The whole staff was friendly and our waitress was excellent and very helpful. My only regret was not asking for a window seat when we got there. We had a reservation and there was a table by the window that was open, but we got seated by the entrance. A couple that walked in after us with no reservation got the table by the window which was odd. Again, not a deal breaker and I should have asked to sit there. I definitely would not hesitate to eat here again or recommend it to everyone. I am looking forward to the next visit.

I don't even really like caesar salad that much, and theirs is top notch. they split our plate for an extra $3 and it was plenty after appetizers. lastly, interiors: our table was perfect. they sat us right by the window on the water for sunset.
