Great Place, been here twice. And I absolutely love the atmosphere. First time around, I had the Pizza Louie. Which was awesome. Thin Crispy Crust, Banana Peppers, Roasty Balsamic Chicken. Really good. Both dinners have started out with warm bread and "Pizza" Flatbread" Which I think is just Garlic and Oregano. Either way, crisp and delicious. Is served with a chunky Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Pesto, which is super flavorful. I really enjoyed it. This past visit, I had the Flat Iron Steak with Goat Cheese Polenta, Tomato-Fennel Jam and Sautéed Broccoli Raub. The steak, while seasoned really well. Was quite tough. I had it cooked Medium-Rare. Which after my visit, I was informed by my better Chef friends that a Flat Iron Steak shouldn't be cooked under Medium, which could lead to it being tougher (Good to know). But without knowing that. I attribute it's tough texture to the way it was cut...a tri-cut down the width of the whole steak. Possibly with the Grain? Not sure. But it was seasoned well. And was accompanied by the BEST POLENTA I'VE EVER EATEN. Creamy, smooth, and the Goat Cheese flavor was very prominent. A Bite of Steak, scooped with Polenta, and some Tomato Jam...really exquisite bite! As an appetizer, had the Bahn-Mi Crab Cakes. They were good, wasn't blown away by the flavor. But the pickled Cucumber and Spiced citrus aioli really carried the dish. Also...can't stress this enough. Get a cocktail...if you don't, you're realllllllllllllllly missing out. The French Pear Martini is amazing. You really only need one, super strong, but not too strong for you to not want to finish it. Amazing Both visits there have been nothing short of outstanding. I LOVE 800 Maple! I've been here many times and as usual, my dinner last weekend did not disappoint. Not only was the food delicious, the drinks are great as well. They have a great selection of wines and lots of fun cocktails to choose from. I usually end up sitting in the bar area, either right at the bar or there is a really nice table by the fireplace. No matter where you choose to sit, the ambience is lovely. You can sit at a table in the dining room where it's more intimate or in the bar area where it could be a little more casual. I've gone with just two people and even with 17 and they can definitely accommodate the big party! It is obvious they really care about quality service. The bartender is always kind and friendly, they are patient and willing to assist in making your wine or drink choice. The servers are also great. In fact, for my large birthday dinner party here, I think our server was one of the best waitresses I have ever had! Devon was able to handle all 17 of us perfectly, making sure each and every one of us was happy. She was super sweet to me, knowing it was my birthday and making me feel special for the day with extra attention. Little things, like making sure I got first shot at each appetizer and keeping my wine glass full at all times, she definitely paid attention to detail. We had my grandparents at one end and children at the other, she was very patient with them all. She just seemed so genuinely happy and like she really wanted us to have the best experience, it was really nice! The food is always excellent. They give you a crunchy flat bread and "pizza" bread to start which is really nice, and more unique than a regular bread and oil. I usual get the same appetizers; the stuffed peppers are nice and cheesy, the calamari has a yummy thai chili sauce. They have great, original sides too. The parmesan risotto is delicious. I love that you can get lobster mac & cheese as a side. The truffle fries are really good too, I love truffle! With all those apps and sides, I decided to have a salad as an entree. The spinach salad with apples, dried cherries, maytag bleu, spiced pecans & maple dressing was very good. All the textures worked very well together, and I added grilled chicken. Again and again I return to my fave restaurant. Table for 4 and we were hungry. 4 apps, a few drinks, including the wonderful Figenza. The apps were banana peppers, seafood fritters, and something else, I don't know, I was busy wolfing down, er, politely wolfing down, the peppers and fritters. Delish. Also a winner, the sweet potato soup with a touch of jalapeño. Not spicy, just spiced. And so good. The dinners were the small rib platter with roasted asparagus, a rack of lamb, a steak and a veal. We share. Everything was perfect. We shared a bottle of wine. We shared stories and laughter. No dessert today, but dinner for 4 including tip was about 300. Very reasonable for the amount our group had. The bar area was filled with millenials, and there were 3 women in the dining area with a young, maybe 7 year old, who was so well behaved, I almost bought them a gift certificate to come back. read more

Loved the decor and ambiance of this restaurant. We started by having a drink in the bar. The staff was very nice and bar area was great- nice wine and beer choices. Then we went to our table for dinner. We ordered the muscles which were excellent- with an awesome broth and crusty bread. The banana pepper appetizer was pretty good too. If we stopped here we would have been content. The entrees were unimpressive. We had a Cesar salad which was wilted and dry. The wood fired pizza (chicken BBQ) was bland. Two in our group had the ribs- small plate for $21.95 The plate only consisted of two small sections of ribs and a small serving of coleslaw. I came here for a work dinner last week and the food and service was top notch. We were initially seated near the front windows but it was too cold so I asked to be moved. It was no problem and we were relocated instantly. We ordered the calamari which was really good. I had a few glasses of wine and the Vodka Rigatoni with veal cutlets. It was so so delicious but is a heavier/ creamier sauce than most so just a heads up there. My friends ordered the chicken cutlet arugula dish and a pork belly/scallop special. We got there and I found our server to be stuffy and was rude when we turned down the expensive bottle of wine, then our meals came and the portions were so small we could've went for another dinner after because we were still hungry. I am a very regular customer and usually love it here. It has gone down to three stars for me after my visit today. Not sure if they switched chefs, but they have a brand new menu and my food was almost inedible. They got rid of my favorite spinach salad, and the Milanese I typically ordered tasted very different. The Milanese I am used to here is lightly pan fried and flavorful. The Milanese I had tonight had a chicken finger flavor to it--SUPER salty; tasted very deep fried rather than pan fried. The only thing that was good were the fries green tomatoes. Our service was also terrible. I substituted the salad that comes with the Milanese, again, like I always do (this is typically not a problem), and asked for the dressing on the side. I had asked for the shaved vegetable salad, and nowhere on the menu does it state there were cucumbers (there are cucumbers in a different salad on the menu and it IS listed), and there were several cucumbers in the salad, which I cannot stand. Aside from that, I asked for the ranch dressing on the side, and it came slathered in dressing, salad put completely over the whole chicken, with the ranch also on my Milanese (which does NOT pair well with balsamic glaze). The servers, as soon as it comes out, says, "I know they made it wrong, want to try it first and then send it back?" I agreed, reluctantly. She never came back to ask if it tasted okay; I had to ask our water server to get her to the table. I then told her the salad was not as the menu had described and she just said, "sorry". I took very few bites, barely eating anything, the meal was so bad. No manager came over, and she didn't take even half of the chicken cost off the meal. Again, the Milanese was delicious before. I don't know why they changed it. For the price we pay to dine here, I would expect better service and food. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants, and after today, I have no desire to come back. read more

Have eaten here a handful of times, sometimes at the bar, other times in the restaurant. Always a good experience. This review is based on my most recent visit. We had a large party of 14 people at 6pm on a Saturday. They had a nice table set up and ready for us right in front of the kitchen area. I thought it would be crowded or we would be in the way, but not at all. Our server (I think his name was Seth) was awesome. He knew we were there celebrating a Bachelorette, and he kept it light and fun, recommending drinks and encouraging shots! The food was great, the table ordered a variety of apps, entrees, pizzas and salads. Plates were clean so I can assume enjoyed by all. I can only speak to my meal which was the 800 salad and pepperoni pizza. Both good, only I thought the salad had a bit too much dressing. I just know to order on the side next time. They brought enough bread for all (and I love the spread they have for the bread!), didn't just throw one basket in the middle, three baskets spread over the table. One of my companions ordered the Gluten free pizza, she kept double checking it really was gluten free bc she enjoyed it so much. Very enjoyable evening and the server even offered to do split checks! A lot of places don't like to do that with large parties, so that was very nice and helpful for us. We decided that the restaurant 800maple would be a good choice since we heard that they won the 2018 Award for the Best Brunch in the Suburbs. We were not disappointed as our large party was greeted and seated as soon as we arrived. Seth, the assistant manager found time even with a full restaurant to check all tables to insure that service was up to par. Came in for a celebratory dinner a few Saturdays ago and had a wonderful experience. The person in charge of making the reservation, cough cough, (me) completely dropped the ball so the weekend after Valentine's Day, I thought for whatever reason I could call up one of the nicer restaurants in Williamsville and expect room for two around 9 pm on a Saturday night. Jokes on me, or is it? I called and spoke to a gentleman, explained my situation and said I blew it and we really needed a table for two. He said no problem at all and that they would have an available table for us. You saved the night, sir! So in we go, I give the gentleman at the front my name, he knew who I was, our secret, and he acted as if this reservation had been long standing and escorted us to a beautiful table in the dining room. Smooth. Our server was fantastic, bubbly, knowledgable about all of the wine and food and gave great, honest recommendations. We started with a bottle of red wine, wanted a Malbec and he recommended the one they had as their special that evening, which was believe it or not, from Germany, so we exchanged looks and shrugs but decided to go for it. He said it was dry and earth, right up our alley. It was delicious, great choice. For appetizers we started with the sea scallops with sweet potato and brussels sprouts finished with a cider gastrique, amazing. We also shared the caesar salad, good, not mind blowing, but good. I wanted a pizza real bad and it was really hard to steer away from them, they all sounded amazing. I ended up going with a pork tenderloin special, served over spaetzle with braised red cabbage. It was interesting, not my favorite, but creative. The mix of flavors wasn't working for me. We also ordered the strip steak, cooked to perfection, delicious. We skipped dessert, they were out of Fernet unfortunately so we had an Amaro with espresso. Honestly, the food was just fine. I didn't leave thinking i had to rush back for that part, but the service won us over. Next time I'm getting a pizza. Great service can definitely make up for mediocre food. And wine. We ordered our Mother's Day dinner here. What a disaster. We were told on Saturday, that we should preorder to insure we would get what we wanted at the time we wanted. I arrived at 625 for a 630 pickup. I was told that my order would be ready in a couple minutes. I waited an hour and a half before getting out of my car to inquire. When I asked one of the delivery guys when I would get my food, he told me he had no idea. He was sorry.... The place was total chaos. Several other customers and I stood by the door waiting. One canceled his order another one said he would never come here again . I also will never come here again. The staff was not customer focused and did not seem to care that they ruined many family meals. To make matters worse, I got home to find out they had not included (2) salads we had ordered in the bag. I understand that this is a trying time, but your lack of organization and empathy were noticed by me and everyone else waiting in line. If your promotion for Mother's Day was gong well, you should have cut off orders once you knew you could not handle anymore. Poor planning and execution. This was my second time brunching at 800 Maple. I had made reservations for my mother's birthday via Open Table, though when we arrived, I was surprised there were only a few other tables occupied. Our waitress was very attentive and came over right away to take our drink orders. I noticed there were quite a few other servers on hand, presumably should things pick up and get busier. Their brunch menu had changed slightly from last time we were there; they had a lot of summery options such as Maryland crab cakes and braised short ribs, both served with fried eggs. I had gotten the Belgian waffle last time so I went with that again, knowing how yummy it was. It was slightly dry on its own, but with the fresh fruit and light drizzle of maple syrup, it was delicious. The others in my group ordered mimosas and prosecco, however, their brunch drink menu was very extensive, and seemed to offer more than the brunch basics. They also offer complementary pastries up near the bar area, so we enjoyed a small selection of pastries, muffins and fruit before our meals came out. One thing that annoyed me was when I went to use the restroom I had to walk right by the kitchen area, and the numerous other staff members were all lingering by the entranceway, so I had to skirt around them to get by (they were slightly in the way and made no attempt to move). This clearly does not reflect the quality of food or service, just an odd occurrence that I thought should have been avoided. Overall, I'm very happy with our brunch experience at 800 Maple. I've gone here twice, mostly because a very good friend of mine worked here and I wanted to surprise him with a visit. The first time he wasn't working as I came with my mom on a whim while we were out. The restaurant was almost empty, but it was great because I was underdressed (I didn't realize how nice it was!). My mom and I were seated by a host who pulled out our chairs and made polite conversation. The food was incredible! I had some steak special...can't remember what, but I remember feeling conflicted-- because it was incredible and my mom offered to pay. Stop at the bank before you arrive! The second time I was here I came with my mom, brother, and friend, to celebrate my college graduation. I got a soup and salad, and my brother got one of their wood-fired pizzas. My brother does not get excited by much, but he loved his pizza. In fact, he told me 800 Maple is now one of his favorite places to eat and he visits fairly frequently after this dining experience. This is somewhere you want to go for a special occasion! I knocked it down because I sensed a bit of a 'pretentious' vibe and some of the servers had a very obvious, theatrical enthusiasm. We arrived at 800 late in the afternoon. There were only two other couples in the dining room so we were seated immediately. The restaurant tries to put an upscale elegant atmosphere to the everything from the staff to the building itself. As I sat down the first thing I noticed was the nice black cloth tablecloth was covered with a square of craft paper. Unusual, but I guess it keeps the laundry bill down! At these prices, I expect cloth. I have enjoyed the wood oven personal pan pizzas here before and it was very good. They list them on the menu each one given a females name. I guess once you eat 100 pizzas they name one after you. I ordered the Nikky. My wife ordered the seafood linguine. This after questioning the waiter concerning many items. Our waiter, Mike, was very knowledgeable and took great care of us. He answered each question patiently and with knowledge of the menu. My wife's seafood linguine turned out to be the hit of the year as far as our dining experiences are concerned. It was smothered with lobster, muscles shrimp and was delicious according to my wife. I believe there may have been some scallops in there as well I don't quite remember. The entire thing was placed on a bed of linguine and smothered with a light tomato sauce. Kim thoroughly enjoyed it. And the portions very large nicely done. As I said, I've been here before and had the personal pan pizzas. My pizza when it came was anything but a small personal pan pizza it was about 16 inches in diameter. Easily enough for a couple to finish. Mike, unfortunately, had neglected to tell me that they had changed the menu when I asked about the pizzas. The pizza was uneventful, it was a pizza. The thin crust did not seem to be as tasty and crunchy has on previous occasions. For dessert we got a couple of items from the menu. My wife a nice warm brownie with a small scoop of ice cream delicious. My description does not do it justice as the presentation was fantastic as well. I had a cobbler, Apple and mixed berries. It was topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a lovely spritz of a sauce. It too was good but not memorable. For some reason, perhaps it was my taste buds tonight, it had a hint of a taste of oatmeal. I found it detracted from the fruit in the desert. Again both of these desserts were more than ample. I failed to mention that before dinner I had a bowl of a lovely chicken soup. I really didn't want a bowl I asked if they had a cup. Mike said that they didn't they only had the one size but he would check with the kitchen to see if they would accommodate me. They did and I'm glad they did the soup was fantastic. That was our meal. All in all it was good. We do like the restaurant but it has a few things that can be fixed to make it a memorable one. But a nice meal under a hundred dollars that's not bad at all. I'm kind of holding back my recommendations until I've had a chance to have a meal not just a Pizza, will be back We will see and eat! I failed to mention the coffee. If you read my reviews before you know that I use the quality of the coffee has a barometer of the quality of the restaurant. I ordered my after dinner coffee and Mike, our waiter forgot to tell me that they only have their house blend. The house blend is a flavored coffee with a hint of vanilla and hazelnut I think. I abhor flavored coffees and it was really a lousy touch to an otherwise nice meal. People, flavored coffees don't make a classy restaurant meeting your customers needs and comforts does, get some real coffee in the cup! The entire evening rates just three stars. Pick up a few of these small minuses and it will warrant four or five stars. I look forward to that happening we will be back to rate it again. read more

I was visiting Buffalo last week and finally gave 800 a try. I remember this place back in the 90's as a diner or something so I was hesitant to try it. The whole place is redone and it looks very nice inside. The bar was nice and the bartender very accommodating. We had a drink at the bar and then once the bartender told us that the kitchen could prepare a lot of the menu items gluten free (since I have celiac) we decided to have dinner in the dining room. The dining room is pretty- we sat by the front french door looking windows. The service was good- our waitress knew exactly what items I could have being gluten free. I ended up getting the red snapper special with cucumber/feta relish and it was delicious and a large serving. My mom had the bbq chicken pizza and it looked really good. I was also happy with the wine selection- they had a great red zin. The place is expensive (similar to Manhattan) so that is why I didn't give it 5 stars. read more

This restaurant is the gem of WNY. I had the most amazing brunch/breakfast last Sunday, and I recommend visiting 800 Maple anytime day or night. Starting with Seth, the maitre d, the service and atmosphere are impeccable. The waiters and staff were excellent without crowding our party. Obviously the chef is highly skilled - my crab cakes with poached eggs was fabulous. And my friend raved about his amazing french toast. And if you go for Sunday brunch, make sure you try the peameal bacon, it's unbelievably good, and I've never seen it before. It looked obviously straight and raw just like how I cook my spaghetti for the first time in my life. Fish was burnt and salty. It was a $39 dish and it was less than anything I can ever expected. This place has great potential to be a wonderful dining experience with it's nice ambiance and wonderful service. The food fell just short of being amazing with each course. First our appetizer of peaches drizzled with blueberry pomegranate vinegar served with whipped ricotta and pistachios was good, but the peaches were hard and just raw. Give those little slices a roast on the grill or oven to soften them up and make them tender and delicious, then the dish may have been more enjoyable. Then I ordered the pappardelle with mushrooms and chicken for about $25. When it was brought out, pretty promptly, as the service was great, I was immediately disappointed as I could see that it was from a box. If I am going to a nice place and paying $25 for pasta, I expect homemade pasta. Anyway as I dug into my dish, the pappardelle was stuck together in clumps as it was way under cooked and kind of gluey. If you are going to serve macaroni from a box, you should at least cook it to perfection! Again the flavor was there, yummy roasted tomatoes, mushrooms and tender chicken, but the pasta made it a serious disappointment. My partner had ordered the Chicken Milanese and thought that it tasted pretty good, but noticed that the bread crumbs were just falling off the chicken as she cut into it. She makes chicken cutlets all the time and knew that the wrong technique was used in breading them. Egg and breadcrumbs is all that you need to coat the chicken. Leave the flour in the bag. Anyway... it just kept falling off and she had a pile pushed aside on her plate. $100 meal (which included one glass of wine) .... we expect much better food. read more

Nice place to stop for a formal meal. Don't go in expecting $20 steak cuts and $25 fish plates. Overall the food was good but just more pricey than I would have imagined from looking at the outside. Inside the decore is more american steakhouse meets southern Italy. A lot of dark woods but a more festive ceiling than a steakhouse would dare. The Scallops BLT was an awesome idea. The well cooked scallop with a bacon puree and endive worked very well. A pleasant Cesar salad followed that course. It's a scene. Not necessarily a good one, but a scene nontheless. You may see some fake tans and fake LV bags. You may see some spandex where it doesn't belong. You may even see the dreaded Galleria Mall Blonde. Pay them no attention. The bartenders here are some of the best in Buffalo and can mix a real drink. They are creative, funny and will adjust a cocktail according to your personal preference. The gourmet thin crust pizzas are really really good. A little small for the price but the ingredients are fresh and the topping combinations are unique. Go, but try to bring your own friends. read more

Reviwers are correct that back in the early 90's this was place was called the " Country Kitchen " a corporate herd restaurant that was run out of town back in the 1990's when people actually knew what good food was. Chuck the owner of 800 Maple and Siena, did a wonderful job desigining 800 Maple. 800 Maple reminds me a lot of Siena, but with more food selection. Siena is geared more towards Italian. I always get the Pizza at 800 Maple as well ... [ sometimes if Siena was too busy ] The food has always been consistently good .... it never falters. Never? No, never once. If I ever return to Buffalo, I hope to see 800 and Siena still standing. [ Siena has been in Buffalo since the late 1980's, when Buffalo was a great place to live ] Don't go to 800 looking to cut corners or get a meal deal if you are on a budget. My husband and I went here for a dear friend's birthday party. Let me start off by saying the staff here is amazing. From the bartenders to the servers, everyone was polite, timley and friendly. We had a very large party and there wasn't a mistake made. Now, onto the food. I was very disappointed in the mussels and clams we had as appetizers. I am a BIG seafood fan and was surprised that a place of this caliber would send out sandy clams and mussels. They were cold when they arrived at the table and terribly gummy. The calamari was a very welcome and wonderful surprise (usually the calamari is the gummy app). We split a wood oven pizza with steak, portabella mushrooms, and spinach. The pizza was yummy (although the crust was on the burnt side). The steak and mushrooms were cooked beautifully. Our drinks were never empty and there was never a long wait for anything. I ate at 800 Maple last night and the quality was honestly a giant surprise. We came here for my birthday and I left not only full but very impressed with the quality. I was here a year ago and while the food was good then, it wasn't anything that I'd write home about. Not the case this time. We started with a few glasses of wine that were tasty, but not exactly a huge glass. The wait staff was constantly around to refill the water, although a girl did manage to miss my glass once and pour some all over my shoe. Some people would be mad about this, and those people should shut up. It's a cold winter night in Buffalo and if you're worried about your shoes getting wet at any point you're eating in the wrong city. Our appetizer was the ahi tuna that was cooked as ordered, but for some reason came presented as a big ol pile of tuna on a large plate with soy and wasabi sauce all around it. Also it came with tongs(?) for whatever reason. For an entree I ordered the porterhouse, medium rare with the goat cheese butter preparation that came recommended to me by the waiter and it was unreal. It was cooked perfectly and the topping was something id eat every day on everything that ever goes into my mouth. The rest of the table had a strip steak (awesome), lamb chops (dry rubbed and equally awesome), and lobster Mac and cheese. The prices reflected the quality, which is a nice way of saying it was good, expensive food, but really if I'm going to eat a porterhouse that fills my plate that also has 2 or 3 sides, I'm going to expect to pay almost $40. Favorites: Any steak/lamb dish and if you go with the steak, get the goat cheese preparation. Not-so-favorites: Tuna appetizer was oddly presented and we did wait about an hour for our entree after our app was cleared. Minor griefs...definitely a must-go! read more

A nice job of updating a former Swiss Chalet (you can't miss the style). Contemporary decor. Not quite sure what the food style is. The friends who invited us there referred to it as a steakhouse but that's not it. Lots of wood fired pizza on the menu . Let's just call it eclectic American. The bar is quite nice. Very contemporary and roomy. My cosmos were good and the house wines were equally a surprise. My wife had the spinach salad - sliced apple, dried cherries, Maytag bleu, pecans and maple dressing. She raved about it . I ordered mussels (regular ones on the menu) as well as the daily special which included mussles on top of fried green tomatoes. Let me tell you, they need to put that special on the menu regularly. It was superb! For dinner, my wife had the roasted chicken. I'd say she'd give it 3 out of 5. Okay, but nothing special. I tried the filet since the word steakhouse had been mentioned. I'd say they used dry-aged beef which to me takes all the fun out of what could be tender and juciy meat but it was still good. It just would have been better if it had been bloody red and dripping like I ordered it. The accomany vegetables, on the other hand, almost made up for the average cut of filet. They were cooked al dente and seasoned perfectly. I ordered some cauliflower on the side and was glad that I did. The "Grenobloise" Roasted Cauliflower, Capers, Lemon, Butter and Croutons was one of my stars for the evening. Nice desserts. Say away from the Nutella offering. Not worth it in my opinion. But I hd a nice apple and berry crisp AND a caramel and sea salt gelato that were superb (have them sprinkle more sea salt on top). Overall, excellent and attentive service. Not the most elegant place but definitely a place I would visit again when in Williamsville and place I would recommend to friends. read more

BAD EXPERIENCE! Went last night - made a reservation for 14 was told 815pm - asked for a bit earlier - was told NO. After we were seated and ordering drinks, waiter announced we had to order immediately as Kitchen was closing in 15 minutes. RUDE!! Apps and dinners came out together - 2 meals were never served. Felt very rushed and uncomfortable. Not good at all for $576 tab. Get it together 800 !!! read more
