My wife and/or I have stopped at 800 Degrees at least half a dozen times on trips to and from Indianapolis and have never experienced even a hint of disappointment. For drinks, they feature a rotating selection of craft beer on draught, with a focus on Midwestern breweries. Someone has put some thought into the selections too -- it isn't just the usual line-up of big names and standard styles. For food, all we've ever had is the pizza -- why try anything else when the pizza is 5 star? At this point we have tried nearly every one of the pizzas at least once and have enjoyed each and every one of them. The menu of signature pizzas includes traditional wood-fired standards like the Margherita and the Rocket and also more unique and creative selections like their eponymous pie with house-made hot sausage. The crust is always the key to wood-fired pizza, and theirs is superb. (For crust aficionados, the crust here is a perfect example of a traditional wood-fired crust, as opposed to the chewier kind you typically find these days.) They also have mastered the right blend and amount of toppings on the pies. It really is just great wood-fired pizza, cooked perfectly in a real wood-fired oven. The facility is nothing spectacular (in a strip mall and with little in terms of decor), but is clean and features an open kitchen. Outdoor seating is available in the Summer and is far enough from the main roads to be enjoyable. We typically sit at the bar and have had good service every time. If sitting at a table you typically have to order at the counter and then your food is delivered to your table, which seems to cause confusion and is a bit inefficient, but I suppose they have their reasons for structuring the service that way. A little pricey, but SUPER good pizza, and SUPER FAST. I mean, when you are cooking something at 800 degrees...it doesn't take long for it to get ready! We ordered one of their large salads, and a few pizzas to share. Everything was great. Pizza's are on the smaller side of pies, and are a bit crusty/burnt on the bottom, but the flavors are AWESOME! The ordering process was a little weird. Sit down, get handed a menu, and then go up to the cash register to make your order and pay, and then go back to your table and wait for your food. Unlike your normal pizza joint. 800 degrees has a Unique crispy thin crust that is heavy on the locally grown meats and veggies, but light on the cheese and sauce. Some may not like it, but it is worth a shot for something different. You'll pay about $14 for what amounts to a medium size, but rest assured you're getting a quality product. They go too light on pizza sauce for my taste, so I always ask for extra. Try dipping the Carne in BBQ sauce! Tastes like an all-meat calzone. read more

I had a really glowing post (from 2012), but have to downgrade my star rating and update my post. The pizza I had last week looked like it had come from the freezer. The crust was flat and tough. The cheese was sweating with grease. The salad was dressed in a hurry and only slightly chopped. I love shaved fennel and carrots, but not chunks of either. And they skimped on the pine nuts and parmiggiano. I hope it was just a bad night, but I want to provide this "real" feedback - in the hopes that management is monitoring Yelp and can do some quality control. read more

This is the best 'artisan' pizza you can get in Fort Wayne. It tastes fresh and clean when you eat it. Great place for taking family or small groups of friends. Has a lot of different specialty pizzas as well. read more

They have pretty decent pizza. While their toppings are good, I don't care as much for the crust. It seems kinda thin and flimsy.

I've been a fan of both locations for years, in spite of their ability to make a margherita pizza that didn't just taste like a plain cheese pizza. Ate there last night, and the beer selection (which has long been great) was terrible and the pomodoro pizza was pretty much just the margherita with red pepper flakes. I've recommended this restaurant to others, and it's long been a place I've enjoyed, but my last few times at both locations have been less than fantastic. Love the pizza!! The choices should fill everyone's desire. They have gluten free. I gave it three stars because it's pricey but delicious. Please go up to the counter to order your pizza. There is no personal waitress unless your sitting al Fresca. Go for the pizza not the great atmosphere unless you like average, small bar, cafe like surroundings. read more

HATE the way you order...if you sit in the bar, it is full service, but the rest of it is this weird order at the counter, get your own drinks and the bring the food to you. Not your typical Pizza Hut American pizza. This is authentic Italian style pizza, (all fresh and organic ingredients, neapolitan crust, medium sized pizzas). There is a waiter there (Jonah) he was amazing at his job and if it weren't for him the service would be lacking. But he was great. read more

As a Fort Wayne local, I'm always trying to find new places in town to visit. Even though there are many pizza places in town, 800 puts a great new spin on pizza that isn't like anything I've had before. 800 Degrees is located on the far north side of town so it can be a drive if you are staying downtown. The seating and atmosphere is very open and when first walking in can be mistaken more for a half seating half take out place. The food is outstanding and I recommend 2 pizzas for 3 people. Everything is exactly what it says, the chicken BBQ, meat pizza, and even the weirder stuff all tastes great. There beer selection is great which always includes some microbrew favorites on tap and in the bottle. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount of food that you get. If you are staying up on the north side of town and looking for a good place to eat or are a Fort Wayne local that is looking for something new, I cannot recommend 800 degrees enough. I have lost count of the number of times I have eaten at 800 Degrees Wood Fired Pizza over the last 2 years. Every pizza has been perfectly prepared and a delight. Each time I've ordered bruschetta (sp?) it has been perfect. Each salad was perfectly crisp, fresh, and dressed. Each pannini ( I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE CUBANO) is the perfect mix of crispy, warm, and gooey inside. The desserts have all been perfect. The microbrews on tap are all wonderful; have had 2 of the best beers of my entire life there. Bell's, Founders, and Boulevard brewery offerings have been my favorites. Bar seating is full table service and where my wife and I sit when leaving the kids at home. Family seating is order at the counter and they will bring it out to you. Often times the food is quite good; however there are times when the food can be very poorly made, and the lower and upper management is unresponsive to complaints, often treating such comments with sarcasm and contempt. Upon dining there this evening, I left and felt rather ill after having one of their sandwiches. Once I spoke to the manager, he had absolutely no remorse or interest in taking the complaint seriously. In fact, he was quite dismissive. It is unfortunate, I have heard through others a great deal of negative comments at their newer location; it seems that the poor service being exhibited there is now being demonstrated at this older location. Go there and enjoy the good beers. If you order the food, it's a dice roll as to it's quality. read more

Food is great every time. The service is a little slow. On our last visit, there were 6 people in the place and it took almost 10 minutes to get a beer brought to the table. When I went to the bar to inquire, I was told that she was a little behind. The two people sitting at the bar must have been quite the drinkers. It really was underwhelming. Pizza crust had no flavor and tastes exactly like Papa John's. I've heard great things, and I can see some potential. The Funghi pizza had barely any mushroom flavor and was cold by the time we received it. Our waitress ignored us, only revisited table once, and messed up our order (we had to still pay for her mistake-ordering two salads instead of splitting one). Overall, we were glad to be leaving and never plan on returning. read more

Having read recent reviews complaining about the pizza, I felt I had to add some information about this wonderful restaurant. The owners of the restaurant spent some time in Italy. There they learned how to make traditional Italian style pizzas. These are not American type pizzas. If you are looking for a Chicago style or New York style pizza, you won't find those here. 800 Degrees offers unique combinations of ingredients on their pizza. My favorite features fennel, onions, mushrooms and a white sauce. They do offer a few American type combination pizzas. But I haven't tried them. I doubt they'd taste anything like you'd find at Pizza Hut. Even my picky children enjoy their cheese pizza. read more

We had a small group Half of the group ordered. Then about 10 minutes later the other half ordered. the second half got their salads then their pizzas before the first half even got their appetizers. Then one person got her pizza. She had to ask for hers. The other 2 people didn't get their pizza until all the rest of the group was finished eating. We tried to get the waitress attention, but she walked right by without even acting like she heard us. We watched them put the pizzas on the plates, then We watched the waitress walk all around the room before we finally flagged her down. Very very poor service. I am giving 1 star only because I liked the pizza. It was good but lacked sauce. Some slices only had a tiny bit of sauce on them. read more
