How can you live in the Fort and not visit the original Spring Street location that was founded by Lexy Demetroff since 1957? Well...I've now checked that one off my bucket list! I ordered a medium Everything pizza around 4:30p on a busy Friday evening. They quoted me a 40 minute wait time...and they were spot on. Lexy's pizza menu and prices are typical of most non-budget pizza places. They offer deep dish pizzas as well. The Spring street location is small with ample parking in the back. There is thin table that lines two walls with bar stools. I suppose you could eat in. However carry out is most common. The kitchen is wide open to the entry way. You can watch the pizza artisans doing their craft. I found the team here to be very friendly and welcoming while focusing on pizza making. In my first trip to Lexy's I found the pizza to be quite delicious. The crust is thin. The edges are crispy - yes, really crisp. The underside in the middle of the pizza was soft and nicely baked. No obvious added flavoring to the crust. Pretty much a plain flour dough. Lexy's motto is "Generous portions, Quality ingredients"...and that is what I found. The toppings were piled high on a bed of ground up American sausage. The rest of the meats and vegetables were plentiful and tasty. The toppings were held in place by a thick bed of fresh mozzarella cheese. The pizza is well baked as evidenced by the crispy edges and "frico" browned cheese. The browned and slightly crispy cheese added a different taste to the oozing bed of mozzarella that was below the surface. The sauce was not as prominent as I hoped. The toppings dominated the taste. The bit of sauce I could detect was slightly sweet and had a good tomato taste. The whole pizza was nicely moist. You pick up a good blend of different ingredient tastes. Cold Pizza Test - the next morning the cold pizza tasted almost exactly like the pizza from the night before - delicious! The pizza was still very moist. The crust was still very crispy. The flavor from the toppings did tend to faded a little.

I felt it could use more sauce and a bit more flavor as it was bland. Portion was decent. The pork should have been cooked more as it was chewy and in a carbonara, i expect the pork to be a tad crispier. Dessert: I am a tiramisu fanatic and I was disappointed when i took a bite of it as it was more like a slice of cake pretending to be a tiramisu. It was yummy but i would not consider this a slice of tiramisu. You can see in my last photo where you see the cake style parts of it. I pulled into the parking lot and called to order a pizza. I had about 20 minutes to kill so I waited in my van. An employee with a red beard wearing a blue shirt got in his car about 2 spaces away from me. He pulled out a baggie and put some "tobacco" in a green grinder. He then pulled a wrapper out of a white plastic bag. Twisted it up and lit up. He saw me sitting in my van. A guy even walked thru the lot right next to his car. The employee didn't even flinch. There were school kids walking thru the alley less than 10 feet away. Is this really the reputation you want for your business? Maybe the FWPD should ask the neighbors if they caught it on their security cameras. I'm so shocked at how bold he was about it. B Antonio's - Meat pizza and Cheese Bread…read more We had carry out from the Lima Road B Antonio's. We frequent this place often for salads and sandwiches. Hiwever, this was the first time we have ever had carry out pizza. Here is our experience: We ordered a 14" hand tossed meat pizza at a price of $18. The cheese bread was $7. I wasn't as concerned with the price as I wanted to try the pizza. These prices are pretty much in line with other take out oriented pizza places. They had our pizza freshly out of the iven in about 15 minutes versus the 20-25 minute quoted time. The meat pizza has a really good taste. For a crust we went with a hand tossed pizza. They do offer thin crust and gluten free. The crust had a slightly sweet & floury taste - like their breadsticks. It was baked to a nice golden brown color and texture. Overall it was fairly soft and moist to taste. The edges has a nice firm crisp them without being crunchy. Nice for dipping! The pizza sauce is thicker and has a more bold tomato taste. It comes off a little bit sweet and no real spice to give it heat. The pizza makers spread the sauce out the edges - which I like. The sauce gave the toppings a bit of moisture and accented the meat toppings nicely. I was impressed with the amount of toppings on this pizza. The meats come with Italian sausage, pepperoni, ham, bacon and ground beef. The meats seemed to have at least sizable layers of meat. The sausage gave the pizza a little bit of an Italian flavor. The ham and bacon added a nice slightly salty taste. The ground beef didn't do much igger thsn offer an enhanced meat taste. It wasn't greasy. All that was covered in an appropriate amount if mozzarella. I felt like the pizza toppings gave me good value. The cheese bread was a little different than most. Basically they have rolled out their break stick dough and cut into flatter pieces. The dough has a nice slightly sweet floury taste. There is a decently thick bed of mozzarella on top of a lightly buttery-garlic covering. The mozzarella is a bit higher quality so it was smooth and "cheesy" to pull apart. The melted cheese was dressed with some grated Parmesan cheese. I was disappointed in ghe cup of marinara sauce. Im sure it was the same as what was on the pizza - which i liked. However the cup of marinara was extraordinarily thick. So thick that you couldn't dip the cheese bread into it...nor thd pizza crust. The sauce seemed like the thickness might have been caused by over refrigerating it. Regardless it wasn't enjoyable and didn't add to the good experience. Cold Pizza Test - the next day the leftovers were a little bit tougher to chew but not excessively. It retained a decent amount of moisture in the crust and toppings. The Italian flavor in the meats almost disappeared without the warmer temperatures (I ate this one at room temperature the next morning). The cheese and sauce still had a nice flavor. Overall...it had a decent taste for cold pizza.

Papi's is located on the Columbia Street Landing. So it's a nice place to people watch and drop in...without reservations...and a lower cost...unlike the other places on the Landing. On this occasion we were after a smaller amount of food instead of a large pizza. So this review does not reflect their ability to make pizza. The cheese bread was much larger than we thought. It had a heavier garlic taste with a decent amount of tasty mozzarella cheese. The bottom of the bread was burnt in places. The sides had some crisp cheese edges. The marinara sauce was slightly sweet and delicious. The meatball dish was rather small. The meatballs were smaller and somewhat difficult to find in the small dish that was covered in marinara sauce and cheese. The meatball often broke apart which made it easier to put on the small crispy pieces of bread chips. I didn't detect much seasoning in the meatball...at least not enough to make it stand out.
