I decided to try this place it recently opened up. The place is modern and clean. It is a small restaurant maybe 10 tables inside. Half the tables were filled when I walked in. I ordered my food to go and the wait was only about 10 minutes. I only saw one waitress, and she would disappear in the kitchen for a while so I was wondering if she was doing the cooking too. She told me to push the ring bell when I was ready to order. She was very friendly. I ordered the fresh spring rolls, it was $12 for 4 pieces it was pretty good. I will definitely come back. This place used to be one of my favorites. Now it is barely edible. Maybe I'm going a little extreme, but the vegetables are kinda fresh but everything else can be made in your own kitchen better. They use cheap Blan generic restaurant depot ingredients.. and nothing else. Server is cook. She's great but atmosphere is yuk. It literally gets worse every time I go. It's so sad. The food is always good but this review is for their Mango Sticky Rice. Boy, this is the best I have ever had since forever!!! We had great service and very tasty food. My son and I were looking for good Thai food without having to drive too far. When I looked on Yelp Kinaly Thai came up but only had 39 reviews. I dug a little deeper and realized they are very new. The Tom Yum with chicken was just what we needed on a chilly Friday night. The pepper and garlic entree we ordered with pork and it came with a generous bowl of rice. Their homemade chili sauce was so good that I'd love to buy some for home. I drove far and wide to find this place and it definitely wasn't close to Carlsbad but it was worth the drive. The food is great. There isn't much in the way of atmosphere but I appreciate the less expensive options as well as the Swift pleasant service. Ordered dinner for pickup. The food here is not very good. The massaman curry was watery and bland with way too much heat but very little substance. The potatoes tasted like powder and were completely under seasoned. Overall, very thin and worse than curry you could make at home with coconut milk and canned curry paste. The seafood stir fry was mostly mushrooms and pretty bland. Again, under seasoned. The Three Kings was also mostly mushrooms and under seasoned. The roasted duck over rice had four little drumsticks instead of a healthy portion of duck. The soft boiled egg was hard boiled. The bok choy was not even bok choy- maybe spinach. I go here often for spring rolls and phanag cury (if thats how you spell it...) The thai tea is great and coco cane drinks are unique. The best thai place you'll find in Oceanside. I see some bad reviews which to me is so shocking, people need to be patient and understand this is still a smaller buisness. Be kind to your waitress barbara! Very happy about this new Thai restaurant in carlsbad, especially with the many Laos food options on the menu which is hard to find in north county. Perfect location being right off the 78 freeway. Lao Papaya Salad 10/10 -really hit the spot for me, ordered it medium spicy but wished it could have been spicier? This is a true authentic laos papaya salad! (for reference i am Laotian/thai) Thai Beef Salad 7/10 -served with sticky rice, the steak was cooked perfectly, medium rare. I thought it would be flavored more like crying tiger sauce(spicy, sour and tangy) but this was leaning towards the sweeter side which i didn't like as much. Meh. Ordered to go drunken noodle, pad Thai, Tom yum soup and a curry, and all were disappointingly skimpy, lacking ingredients, bland and pricey for what we got (exception: the soup was good). It seems that to have a full set of ingredients for a dish, you have to order things separately which just jacks up the price. When I asked for one of the dishes to be served spicy, 7 out of 10 (a standard request at any Thai restaurant) I was told they don't cook anything spicy, they just give you sauce. A very sad answer! The surprise of the meal was when the bill came. Each dish with any "protein", (our dishes had chicken), there is an additional $2 per dish for the protein or meat. Surprise! Perhaps we didn't comb through the menu carefully enough to see that cost. So a dish costing $12-14 became $14-16 instead. Thai iced tea $6.00, hot tea (from a Lipton tea bag) $4. Prices are high for what you get. Food was mediocre at best. Spice level low so the dishes were not tasty. They were just ok. Portion sizes small. The only good things were server was very attentive and polite and inside decor was nice and clean. read more

I got the tom kha soup with seafood, pad thai with chicken, cashew chicken, and panang curry with beef. All of it was EXCELLENT. While portions seemed rather single sized, my table of 3 shared them family style. I would come back again if I was ever craving Thai in North County Service: my server was the only one on that friday night. Despite that, she tried her hardest to serve at least 7-10 parties. It got way too busy for a single server, and there was some longer wait times, but my party did not mind. The restaurant is brand new in this location, and so they are still trying to hire and gauge popularity. Ambiance: the location is rather small and narrow in the inside-- i wish it was wider. I'm not able to enjoy hot spicy dishes and this place does not 'kill' the flavors with spice. This place seems to have good reviews, so I'm hoping the bad experience we had was an isolated incident but I doubt it. Upon being seated we ordered 2 drinks, which took 20 minutes to receive on a very slow night so I'm thinking the waitress temporarily forgot to get them. We ordered two different beef entrees, a ribs entree (as an appetizer) and spring rolls appetizer. One of the beef entrees came out 15 minutes before the other. We asked the waitress which beef entree was it and she said she did not know. And walked away. Tf? That was red flag #1. The food looked and tasted good. Halfway through eating the ribs and spring rolls, both finger foods, we realized we didn't have napkins and we asked for napkins. The waitress told us, with the kindest smile, that they ran out of napkins. I just stare at her, fingers covered in rib and spring roll sauce and ask her if she's serious. Yes, she says, they're out of napkins. Not an I'm so sorry! Or, this has never happened before! Just "we ran out of napkins" and walks away. I guarantee you this must happen all the time. I turned to the table next to us and asked if I could buy some napkins from them, they also have no napkins. Let me clarify: this restaurant is connected to a CVS and on the other side of the CVS is a Vons. GO BUY SOME NAPKINS. It was sooo bizarre, and that is when I realized I will not be coming back here. Ever. Red flag #3 is that we buzzed the waitress for the check (each table has a 'need help' buzzer) because when she sat us, she said to use the buzzer if we needed her. Ordered pad see ew & pineapple fried rice and just wasn't good. The decor inside restaurant is very nice . The bathroom needs a purse/key hook on door, paper towel dispenser did not work Ps. I agree with the other reviewers about the smell when you walk in the front door. It would be good to get a plumber out there to figure it out, as it's such a turn off expecting to smell delicious food and spices, but smell that stench. read more

Stopped in for a first lunch here. Small, very clean and attractive restaurant. I ordered Crying Tiger and my husband ordered a seafood dish. I love Crying Tiger but this was a very different preparation, one that was missing the usual Jaew sauce, which I didn't like. Husband thought his dish was satisfactory. Bathroom was clean but the toilet is not installed correctly so it rocks in place. We'd give this place another try in the future, hopefully with an improved toilet install. read more
