Located smack-dab in the middle of Vancouver's Green Mile (okay, I just made that up) across from the New Amsterdam Cafe and BC's Marijuana Party headquarters and amidst several other seeds n/ herbal supply shops, the 420 is the place on this block to get your munchies. They have all the regular stuff of a normal convenience store, such as chips, choco bars, and criminally overpriced sundries, plus rolling papers and lighters. The "munchies" are actually quite nice, with salads, sandwiches and even frosted cupcakes. Frosting. Mmm. The tables and chairs out front are comfortable, too. I think it's really cool to have a welcoming convenience store in this neighbourhood for all the students at nearby VCC and Vancouver Film School, because there aren't a lot of food-store options nearby that don't double as pawn shops.

This is not true in the entire world. But this is probably I have been to other 7-Elevens that are not in North America. 7-Eleven in populated cities are really a small convenient grocery store. Yes this 7-Eleven and almost all 7-Eleven in major cities and around the world that are not located in a remote area is known for their food and snacks. This 7-Eleven doesn't just serve hot dogs. It also has hot food. Yup hot food for the night owl partiers or night clubers. When I say hot food I mean burgers, Jamaican patties, asian food like noodles, soup, pies, sometimes they have dim sum (limited selection and depends on the time). They used to put chairs and tables outside in the summer time (not sure if they do that anymore) Yes they also have Slurpees. Slurpees is only available in Canada and USA. Competitor of 7-Eleven are Circle K, Mac, Oxxo and the other small convenient store. This 7-Eleven is open to serve the neighbors in the hood. Yes they open 24 hours like most 7-Eleven in the world. Vancouver 7-Eleven is like most major cities 7-Eleven. Close to Asia, Europe and Mexico 7-Eleven. Because of their convenience, their prices are more expensive. Note there is no gas station linked to 7-Eleven. This 7-Eleven is still not to the same level as the other 7-Eleven outside of North America yet.

They don't make you feel like a lot of small convenience stores do- like they are following watching over your shoulder. I have a 5 year old daughter that can be a bit hyper, running through the isles but they have never given me. a dirty look or made me feel unwelcome which I appreciate: they truly are a "community" store where they treat everyone with respect. So I gassed up my car and the receipt printer was out of order. Went in to pay for a wash and the…read morecashier told me to scan my card. I said where and she pointed down and said, where the sign is. I looked around and below me to my left were two scanners. I said which one and she said, read the sign. The sign turned out to be a piece of paper smaller than a business card. She was not polite during any of this. I finally did the scan and went back in line for the car wash. Turns out it's no longer touchless. They replaced it in January. There were no signs. Inside the wash, the signs were unclear as well. No doors to open and close to give you a clue. I didn't know the wash was over so it started soaping my car again. I left with soap over much of my car and had to go home and wash it off with a garden hose. At least the lady behind the counter gave me a coupon for a free wash.

Stopped in and got 2 small slurpees (one was lychee and the other one was tarte I feel like it was lemon something) and a box of smarties and it was $4.40 USD (I didn't get a receipt so I am not sure what the price was CAD, I was just able to check my credit card statement). The store was clean, staff was friendly. We came across this store after walking from the downtown Costco to kill time before catching the train to the airport. I would come back to this location as the store was spacious and easy to maneuver in considering I had a child with me, a rolling suitcase and a back pack (previous 7-11 we were in was very narrow and difficult to navigate with no additional items with us).

I'd read an article that listed places Vanilla Coke could be found. In the comments, rather than in the article itself, someone mentioned this place. I thought I'd check, as I pass by often enough. Sure enough, the store was exactly where the directions placed it (375 Water Street, down a short flight of stairs, past the Sushi place on your right and at the end of a short hall). Considering how small the store is, it's got a great selection of things. On one shelf of his Coca-cola fridge, there is a front-back line of Coca-cola Vanilla cans. Jackpot. The comment that mentioned it is currently 3 months old, so I'm guessing the cans are in steady supply. The store keeper is a very pleasant man and didn't mind chatting (I found a way to overcome the chip problems I've been having with my debit card and he seemed impressed). This little place is a gem and I would spend a couple of minutes, to go out of my way to Fleet Street Convenience Store, rather than go to a stereotypical Abattoir-like corner store. Staff was very friendly at both places in the store we interacted with them and when my friend decided to buy some lottery tickets, they gave him something to scratch it off with (who carries coins anymore?) and showed him the machine to check his tickets right away. Really the only issue here was the guys outside that looked to be selling and/or doing drugs near the door, but I can't fault the store too much for that.
