Two-Item Combo ($12.99): a sample from this day!
    Jack W.

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE It's basically an Asian version of a Save On Foods: a supermarket with more Asian-oriented goods/foods, language, staff, all with the Save On Foods signage, logos, and fonts. What about the pricing? It's competitive - you're going to find some cheaper prices for grocery goods at Superstore and T&T nearby, but the hot food items are cheaper here; watch for deals for everything else! === 2. FOOD Groceries are groceries, so no point in discussing them here. However: - The BBQ meats: the BBQ pork is pretty competitive (and better than HK BBQ Master's offering down the street) and the roast pork not bad either. - The 1, 2, or 3 item on starch combo is decent also: different offerings each day, and depending on which staff member serves you, your container is just barely filled or it's super overfilled - thankfully they saran-wrap every takeout container for you! The price is cheaper compared to all competition: $12.99 for two items on rice, any hour. - Poke: a relatively recent phenomenon: the "mango Kona" poke is sweet and nice, but true Hawaiians will still find this too sweet and too much sauce and the texture not quite right...like all other poke on the continental mainland :) - Bread: house-baked loaves of bread are $3.99 each which is about the going rate for a regular (not Asian-sized) loaf - the key is those looking for healthy bread will find the 100% whole wheat bread here fresh and soft (from crust through centre) daily - a rarity for all supermarkets here in Vancouver. It's as good as, if not better than the 60% whole wheat options from other supermarkets and bakeries and of course, healthier than commercial chain brands (e.g. Dempster, etc.). === 3. SERVICE It works well for what you would expect in a supermarket, in English, Cantonese, or Mandarin. English is challenging for some of the staff, where the predominant language is Mandarin. (In Save On Foods locations, there is a much greater diversity in staff ethnicity and English is more commonly spoken.) === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's a Save On Foods with a few different colours and Chinese characters seen more often - so that means things are open and accessible and well-lit. Wheelchairs and baby strollers fit just fine here. Parking is often near-full int he lot outside, but there are typically ever any issues getting a spot.

It was happened in Jan 11 2024 at 3:25pm. In Dim sum department, the staff miscommunciation I pcs instead one box, she yelling with me in front of The Other customer. She has very bad attitude. It is doesnt matter of the money ,its the matter of service.

    NOT mousse cake
    Foodie Q.

I have asked for a chocolate mousse cake from Pricesmart bakery twice now, and BOTH TIMES I got a crappy chocolate sponge cake. These were ordered a year apart. Both times it said "chocolate mousse cake" on the label. The first time I thought it was a mistake but it now looks like it is either mislabelled or the person actually don't know what mousse cake is. In today's cake, random sections of filling was HALF-FROZEN, where I could taste the crunchy icicles formed, which tells me that it was not freshly made, and worse, it was not defrosted completely. Absolutely absurd. Also, I go for asian bakeries as the cakes are generally less sweet, but this one continues to be super sweet. I would NOT shop at Pricesmart bakery.

I have to say this Price Smart Foods has good friendly customer service but its the customers who shop here throws the experience off. I have noticed a few rude moments of other customers. So first off I was trying to park and had my signal lights and everything about to park into the parking spot and fancy Lexus car stepped on his gas and stole my spot. So rude. OK. well I came here at night and i noticed a spot available few spots over so I parked there. It doesn't make any difference. So went inside. A rude customer started coughing rigorously without covering his mouth. So rude. He coughed at all the fruits and all food items. My mom was shocked. My mom made a comment under her breath about that he should cover his mouth and stop spreading germs and this guy gave my mom an evil stare and spatted on the ground. My mom shook her head at the guy. Another incident happened was we were going to the till to place and I have started putting my stuff in my little basket onto the the end of the belt and a couple with just a few items budged in line and started putting things on the middle of the belt. WOW. I am shocked. Not to be mean but this people are a disgrace. If its one selfish customer than ok. But I have experience 3 selfish rude customers all at the one PriceSmart. I don't usually come to this PriceSmart and I am starting to think those rude people should be more considerate while shopping. So back to the shopping experience. We wanted to go to SaveOnFoods and we knew PriceSmart Food is own by Jim Patterson and was thinking why not just go here. They probably have the same sale. We walked in and it was entirely like a Jim Patterson version of T&T. Yup lots of Asian food. Well, we are not here to shop for Asian food. There are a few particular items we are looking for that is on the SaveOnFood flyer. Luckily, the same items are on sale. I forgot to bring my SaveOn membership card. Best part was that they were willing to take my phone number. Overall, it was ok. I am just shocked that I had 3 incidents of meeting 3 different horrible selfish customers at this place.

    Front of supermarket~

Formerly known as Save-On Foods, this supermarket is currently in the middle of a huge renovation. Parking is very ample. The lot here is HUGE. I couldn't tell if the supermarket is trying to move more upscale or downscale. The name "Price Smart" suggests cheapness, yet the store is spotlessly clean. Everything is freshly painted, and there's a certain upscale feel to the place. A couple of things worth mentioning: 1) There is an entire new section dedicated to Asian ingredients. Looks like Jimmy is trying to compete head-to-head with the likes of T&T. The area was still fenced off though, so you'll have to see for yourself in a few days or weeks. 2) The refrigerated shelves are really nice and shiny. They're lit by shiny white LEDs now. Almost makes you think you're looking at jewelry, before you remember you're still in a supermarket. Give it a couple of weeks, and I'm sure this place will look totally awesome.

Partial shot (didn't want to show name plaque), mango mousse cake. Disappointing.
    A. L.

This review is only for the cake we ordered. Positive: it looked nice. Negatives: Mango mousse cake was not good. The outer layer (a glazed fondant) was so sticky, it looked like glue (difficulty removing the fruits from the cake). The mousse was very cold (bordering on previously frozen) & didn't have much flavour. The cake itself was dry. Very disappointing. First & last cake ordered here.

    No red bean
    Annie P.

I bought a red bean spounge cake for $2.75, and there is one piece of red bean at the bottom of the cake pretending there is a lot of red bean. I tried to eat the whole thing and did not see anymore red bean! Such a rip off. T&T is better for bakery, never going to Price Mart for their bakery!

Since their shop opened, I have found similar types of Chinese bread in other shops; however, I have never changed my opinion that this shop offers one of the best Chinese bakeries in the Lower Mainland. I visited this bakery again and tried the chocolate bread this time. It seems to be a new product. It was another amazing one. The chocolate sponge on the outside was very fluffy and soft, and the bread inside was chewy and soft. It seems they might use rice flour or something similar. Anyway, I was amazed by their products again. Their signature items, such as pumpkin bread, taro bread, and pork floss bread, are a must-try. The bread's texture is so soft and chewy, and the fillings are perfectly balanced. Compared to before, the prices have increased a bit; however, their bread is worth trying if you have a chance to visit Richmond.
