I didn't know how good this place could actually be considering the build-your-own style service, but I am pleasantly surprised! Pho broth is a make or break for me, as is the rare steak, and they both passed the test. While this isn't the most flavorful or authentic pho that I've ever had, it is definitely some of the better pho I've had! Wish their Thai iced tea was made fresh instead of canned, but oh well. The spring rolls and summer rolls seemed a little steep in price. The price for the pho was average, maybe slightly above average. The room wasn't too hot or too cold, and I believe I spoke to the owner or manager, who was super friendly. I would definitely go back. Give it a try! read more

Had a 2:00 o'clock lunch outside, on a breezy warm day . The tables are at the side of the building and just far enough off of the street to feel private and not too noisy. I had vegan pho. The broth was very tasty and full bodied. The noodles were, of course, delicious. You choose the ingredients that you want to have added to the large bowl - basil, cilantro, bean sprouts, fresh tofu. My friend had a mixed bowl salad, choosing a variety of salad ingredients and a (reportedly) tasty cold chicken saute with sauce. He also enjoyed it. My friend and I both had the Elisha carbonated lychee water. It was refreshing and delicious! The interior is fresh and clean. The menu includes Pho soup bowls, Banh Mi (Vietnamese club sandwiches), summer rolls, and salads. Kids' portions are available. Everything is fresh and made-to-order. There is some seating at a couple of booth-like tables and a long bar at the main front window, looking out to High St. Although there were only a couple of customers at 2:00, the interior is echo-y and noisy. Food was set up assembly line style --still looked somewhat fresh, so I hoped for the best and ordered up Beef Pho and Spring Rolls then dashed the less than a quarter mile home to assemble the (hopefully) delicious foods. Beef Pho: Sticky vermicelli noodles even after introduction of broth which tasted slightly better than hot ham water. Thick, chewy pieces of beef better suited for a wedding buffet carving line. Sat for a good three minutes, chewing through connective tissue (usually a delicious treat, but not here). Any window passer-bys probably thought I was holding a very rhythmic 'meow...meow...meow' conversation with my cat. Sauces were meh; not sure how you make hot sauce 'meh' but 6-1-Pho cracked the recipe. Spring Rolls: Again, chewy. Not very fresh shrimp or chicken. Greens packed with enough anise to make your grandma's dish of black licorice candies jealous. Final Thoughts: It's fast-food; it's not fresh; it's Vietnamese-ish. If you're going to spend $16 on pho and spring rolls, support the real deal from any of the following Columbus Vietnamese restaurants: Buckeye Pho (Bethel Rd), Pho Asian Noodle House (Lane Ave), Lac Viet (NorthMarket), Indochine Cafe (Hamilton Rd), MiLi Cafe (Cleveland Ave), or Huong Restaurant (Morse). read more

Faux food pho sure. THE FOOD For me the quality of the stock is of prime importance when it come to Pho. Their stock was definitely was underpowered, as in not enough bones used in the making - likely a cost savings measure. And to compensate for less flavour from fewer bones, I strongly suspect and smelled that fish stock was added to the broth. I'm sure this recipe makes a lot of sense on a spreadsheet, but not in my bowl. The noodles were a sticky, lumpy mass - horrid. And the beef was thickly cut and precooked ... not the traditional paper thin strips of raw beef that cooks in the bowl by super hot stock ... instead we had a hot mess. The spring rolls were precooked sitting in a plastic tray on the assembly line. The bottle of coconut juice was delicious. THE ATMOSPHERE A shameless attempt to copy Chipotle, but several kinks still need to be worked out. And for crying out loud - stop with all the friggin plastic. A failing grade from an environmental standpoint too. THE SERVICE A bit of a cluster but generally friendly and courteous, some kinks need to be worked out here too. We live close by and so wanted to love this place, and are almost heartbroken that it is such a disaster. Let me start out by saying how much me and my wife LOVE pho and bahn mi sandwiches! We love so many different places in town and go weekly and this is close to our house so we were excited! Secondly, I've worked in restaurants and I understand that opening nights can be tough and don't expect great service and would forgive quite a few short comings...but this was really an epic failure! On to the food...as soon as my wife stirred her raw beef pho, she found a HUGE chunk of raw beef...it wasnt thinly sliced beef stuck together (which totally happens) it was like a large 3 oz portion of beef...which could be ok at a typical pho place that had hot broth to cook your meat but the broth was served luke warm. The broth itself not only lacks depth but tasted like it was beef broth straight out of a can from Krogers. I had the raw beef as well and although I did not find a large chunk, I was grossed out by the fact the broth was not hot. I took a few sips and the flavor combined with the temperature of the broth was enough for me to be done! We were with four other people that tried a multitude of other things on the menu, that were still available, since they were already running out of things 2 hours into the opening. They were all equally disappointed! Did I mention they served cut up lettuce instead of sprouts, basil, and cilantro. They may have just run out but did they only plan on serving 50 people???...I mean they're open tomorrow too? It's not like those are slow cooked items that when you're out, you can't just whip up more, which I understand. These are things that keep for a few days and are served with almost every meal! If you forgive all of the stumbling blocks of an opening night the problem was the food...it tasted bad. Not just uninspired and unauthentic but BAD. The only saving grace and the reason I may give them one more shot even after this epic failure was the owner. She was very nice, apologetic, and comped our meal that we did not eat and offered to bring us eggrolls. I believe she truly cares and I hope they can figure it all out. read more

Four stars because: The food: I had the Pork Banh Mi for the second time and it was absolutely fantastic. The pâté? Amazing!! All the ingredients were extremely fresh and delicious. Every aspect of the sandwich was on point; from the look, construction, consistency, and of course the taste. All very satisfying. The price: Is the reason for 4 and not 5 stars. My wife and I recently had dinner at 61Pho. It was a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was operating on restricted hours. It was quite busy when we arrived, but our orders were handled in a timely manner. We both ordered Pho (beef and chicken broth) and chose water to drink. The serving sizes were very minimal in respect to the prices that were charged. Both Pho bowls that we ordered were bland tasting. I spiced mine up with some Rooster Sauce to add flavor. The condiment portions were skimpy as well. There are better Pho places in Columbus, especially Pho Asian Noodle House and Grill west of campus on Lane Avenue. The staff did a fine job and the restaurant was clean and inviting. The decor is very nice with a cool hipster vibe. One of the owners greeted us in the food line and chatted us up when we had finished eating. She was very delightful to say the least. I want 61Pho to succeed, but hopefully they will improve their offerings with time. In my opinion, if they don't, this establishment will fail in the long run and that would be a shame. read more

I want this place to be awesome, because a great pho place within walking distance would be perfect so I truly hope they survive and turn the ship around so i can submit a more positive review down the road. We went tonight 8/9/15 and I got a chicken broth pho bowl (they were out of beef broth somehow...) 9.75, a side of egg rolls (out of spring rolls) 5.75 for 3, and a fountain drink at 2.25. So a total of 19.08 for one person. Now take $20 to an in class competitor like Chipotle, bibibop, red robin etc and you're going to see a lot more quality distance for the dollar. The egg rolls were no better then something you'd get from the grocery store, but the peanut sauce side was pretty good. Portion size was very small for a side dish that costs .25 less than a five guys burger. The pho however was a big let down. Just like the rest of the reviews here, it was really bland. The water temperature was up to snuff however and I feel my raw steak was adequately cooked in it, but for 10 dollars it was a big let down. Compared to Buckeye pho the portion size of the noodles and vegetables was about 1/3rd. After i went heavy on the sriracha and hoisin sauce things got a little better but as it was i feel like it was a bland rip off. Either up your portions considerably, or cut the price on the pho down to $5. Interior was very stylish and clean. Staff was very nice but it was a bunch of young kids. I watched the owner grab a guys soup at the checkout and send it back for more broth because his bowl wasn't even half full when they gave it to him initially. I know getting the right employees into a food service position is rough right now so I'm glad management is double checking their work to keep on top of issues inexperienced kids are going to create. Looking around the dining room, i saw a bunch of abandoned bowls that looked untouched by other patrons. If I were the owners, i'd tell anyone who has a receipt from this week to come back in a few weeks and give them a second chance at a discount. I know the problem.... People who are not frequent Pho eaters don't know how to mix their Pho ingredients. If you are not a fan of hoison or Sriracha then you should NOT eat Pho. Plus its best (in my opinion) if you tear up your mint and parsley so you can have some in each bite. I had Pho - Beef and my daughter had Com rice bowl with Chicken. I was worried about the com rice bowl because it comes with a fish sauce you can pour on. I have an 11 year old that is not an adventurous eater. But... she loved it! read more

I went on the first day it opened hoping for a good first impression. It has a great name and the bright clean look that it has looks pretty sharp. It was also fully packed when we went and had to wait a good 20 to 30 minutes to order and get our food. Needless to say my expectations were pretty high. Unfortunately, the food did not deliver at all. The pho was just not good. The broth did not have much of a flavor and none of the ingredients tasted fresh or was any good. The concept of pho with the ingredients sitting out does not work. I actually could not make myself finish the pho. The pork bahn mi we got ended up being cold pork and not grilled pork like I thought it would be. It was not good. I gave it a few bites and gave up. The price of the meal was also around $30 for two people which was a waste of money. I always think of my disappointment when I drive by 6-1-Pho. I had 2 tablespoons and couldnt continue. The chicken was not flavorful at all, and the soup was bland. It was extremely pricey for soup. I initially wanted the salad but when I was told to wait for the noodles, I changed my mind and went for the pho. My husband ordered the rice and it wasn't good either. He must have added an entire bottle of Sriracha sauce just to finish it. The chicken did not look appetizing at all. We ordered two soft drinks, 1 pho, 1 rice bowl, and 1 order of pork egg rolls and had a $30 bill. This was way too much for a place where you order and seat yourself. Plus it was soup!! I'm delayed in my review, but have been to 61Pho twice now. A friend & I went to the soft opening excited! And quite honestly, we weren't disappointed. We both had the Chicken Pho bowl. For the portion size, I think that the price point was accurate. We did make a suggestion about flavoring up the broth and this was well received by one of the owners. THAT in and of itself is great! It bothers me seeing these negative reviews and they have only been operating 6 days. SIX DAYS! There can only be improvement while they work out the kinks. The young staff seem to be getting a better handle on what their job is and how they are supposed to do it. I implore you to give them a chance...this is not a cooperation. It's a small business and small businesses need our support to get off the ground. They can only get better with constructive feedback. If you do take my suggestion and give them a chance, if something isn't to your liking...be kind, respectful and bold letting the owner's know how they might improve. Service is good. The broth is very salty. Not a big fan of the Chipotle style pho. Maybe some people like it. It's very unsatisfying for the price; 9.75 for a one size bowl of noodle and minimal amount of one type of protein that does not include any other sit-down service. My only experience so far has been delivery, but this was a great, easy delivery experience through Uber Eats and I thoroughly enjoyed every menu item. The vegetarian egg rolls were not at all greasy and full of flavor, color, and diverse veggies (not just the nondescript grey/green cabbagish looking filling often found in the vegetarian version of egg rolls). The veggie bahn mi was on a nice soft baguette and had mild pickled veggies, veggie ham, and fresh cilantro and jalapeño. The broth for the vegetarian pho was so rich and warmly spiced, and I like how the pho is delivered in separate components so that you aren't committed to the entire bowl in one sitting. Went on the second night they were open for take-out. As others have said, efficiency isn't great yet, but I would assume will get better. The line was close to the door, but nothing crazy. It took me 17 minutes to go through the line. I like the interior of the place. The flavor of my chicken pho was pretty good. Not amazing, but good, and I would go back for it. My wife got a rice bowl with chicken. The chicken they put in the rice bowl was very good. It had a nice flavor of ginger and garlic. They were out of spring rolls. My biggest complaint is the way they hold their rice noodles for the pho. The cooked noodles sit in a container with not water, so they all stick together and clump. When they went to dish this into my container they were tearing apart since they were all stuck together. So I got a bunch of short torn noodles, and a few clumps. There were some good sized noodles, but hopefully they change how they hold the cooked noodles. The to-go containers are nice. They are bowls. The bowl contained the noodles and chicken, so i only had to put in the basil, beans sprouts, etc in the bowl and then pour in the broth at home. I went to 61PHO for takeout. It has a great modern atmosphere. Great for dining in or take out. Service was fast and friendly! They dont just have PHO, they have Vietnamese noodle bowls and sandwiches too! I was asked if it was my first time and was given a thorough explanation of all the choices. I had the Vegetarian PHO and it was delicious! They give you the broth, noodles and veggies in seperate containers when you do take out. But these portions are too big! My boyfriend and I both ordered the vegan pho and it was an absurd amount of food. We should have shared, but is sharing soup ok? So sad this place let me down. I ordered delivery through a delivery service tonight. I have done this maybe 4 other times here. Normally they get everything correct, but this time they forgot my Tofu in my Tofu Pho bowl. It's kind of a vital part... First time experience eating Pho. I got some spring rolls to start and the Pho with chicken and vegetable broth. The spring rolls were good but I think the dipping sauce was my favorite part of that dish. It was thick and sweet but delicious. The Pho was good but hard to eat. The veggie broth was very good but so much broth compared to the chicken and other items to add to it if you like. I think next time I will go with a Bahn Mi sandwich because they are more filling in my opinion. Overall I am glad I tried it and if you are a soup/Asian food lover then I recommend this place! The individual topping container with lime, cilantro, bean sprouts, and sauce was also a nice touch, especially for people getting takeout. But the pho itself was just okay. Not offensively bad, but the broth was definitely on the bland side, and that's the most important component! The rare steak took a while to cook in the hot broth (so if you don't like to see your meat still red, avoid this option!), but the meat was good. I was back in 61-PHO again a couple days ago and it really was great. I love the inside of the restaurant, it's so green and kind of like you are in a garden of sorts. Sadly, I ordered my food to-go again as I had to hurry home but, again, the decor was so inviting I almost changed my mind. It took my order less than 15 minutes. I ordered the tofu bowl with some rice and veggies. Next time I think I might just ask for veggies. One thing is for sure, it all tasted unbelievably fresh. I don't think I could ever say I had tasted freshness until I ate that bowl! I also got the veggie spring rolls, those things are to die for. I could make a meal out of those. Or several meals.
