While I was in Boston, I wanted to try the 50s diner. I usually eat alone, and even though there were three or four booths empty, they would not let me sit at the booth because I was alone. Very discriminating!!! I heard good things about the diner but what a shame they wouldn't let me eat there unless they wanted to sit at the bar and I don't like to sit and have my legs dangle. Too bad for them. I'm an excellent customer I don't recommend unless you go with someone. This is such a family friendly spot! I came here with my family for brunch and we all loved it. The staff was polite and helpful along with great food at a good price. We started off with fried dough which was my first time having it ever, absolutely amazing and highly recommended ( it's only available on the weekends). My family got breakfast and I was the only one who got lunch. Food is good however, I had a frustrating experience today. Despite having 3 open booths, they would not seat me until a small table opened up. Now they seat 2 people,in booths. Pancake portions are ginormous, turkey sausage add ons are really expensive for some reason and not spectacular. Waitress is really sour/forgets about you but doesn't matter too badly because the owner's really nice and stops by to fill your coffee. Came here with my family to enjoy a delicious breakfast and that we did. We came pretty late in the day but were seated within 10 minutes and got service quite quickly, by the time we all took a couple sips from our drinks the food had arrived. The food wasn't anything super amazing, or special but it definitely hit the spot at the time. I have had other breakfast food that is more impressive, but honestly, for the price, quantity and timeliness of the food and service it was very satisfying. We all left very happy and full. Our server was also very sweet, accommodating and on tops of things. The atmosphere and decorations of the diner was super cute and I really enjoyed how authentic and 50's looking the restaurant looked. read more

2.5 stars The diner seemed to be very popular on a Sunday morning when I came in to meet a friend. There was a line out the door but we actually didn't end up waiting for more than 15-20min. Once we got seated, I noticed two glaring things: 1. Fried Dough Basket. In bold print, in the middle of the menu. Calling my name. 2. Every single table (no exaggerations) had ordered a chocolate milkshake. Being a lover of all things donut, I had to try the basket. It's basically about a dozen beignet-like pieces topped with powdered sugar and butter. Unfortunately I was just not impressed. Fried dough can be enough of a health hazard as it is, but the butter they added on top made it all pretty gross and in my opinion was totally unnecessary. If it would have just come with the powdered sugar I would have been much happier. The other food we ordered was pretty run of the mill, nothing special. Corned beef hash was standard for a cheap diner. We probably also should have ordered a milkshake but made the mistake of having too many fried dough pieces and were pretty sugared out at that point. While I've been to the 50s dinner dozens of times, this review is based upon my visit this past Sunday for a late morning breakfast. I love this place; it's 50s memorabilia and its very reasonably priced menu filled with "served all day" breakfast items and assorted lunch sandwiches, specials, and their famous milkshakes (served 2 glasses per order). The only thing I don't like about this establishment is long line into the parking lot awaiting a table, but it does move relatively quickly. The breakfast platter featured 2 eggs any style (I ordered mine scrambled), a choice of two meats (I went double bacon because it is very crispy the way it should be), home fries potatoes (also crispy, golden brown), and 2 slices of thick french toast (4 halves). A bottomless cup of coffee also comes with the price which is less than $10. This is a very filling order so make sure you have room. Also ordered at the table was 2 eggs which came with home fries, choice of toast, and a single pancake (the size of a full breakfast plate). Everything was served promptly while still warm. We did serious damage to our meals which required a long walk in the afternoon, but it was so worth it. I highly recommend the 50s Diner, just be sure you are prepared to wait, and wear those sweatpants with the expandable waistline. read more

I woke up craving a burger and decided to support a local business. I have driven past here before and saw a long line, so I figured it was worth exploring. I ordered the Ernie Burger, which to my surprise does not come with a patty. Most restaurants that use puns or creative names have little asterisks and notes if the name is contradictory to common knowledge. On average, if you go to a restaurant and there's a specialty burger, they only list the additional toppings. It is known that a burger "patty" comes with the burger. I called to resolve this with a manager. I was told that no manager was on duty. The first person that I spoke with was helpful and told me that I could come and pick up a burger for an up charge. I said no problem. I just wanted someone to meet me at the door because I'm not feeling well. She put me on hold to presumably confirm that she could redo the meal and bring it to the door. I was greeted with an aggressive tone from another person. I was completely shocked at the unprofessionalism and asked if she was the manager because I'd been told that none were there. She said she is the manager until one comes. She did not listen to what I wanted but appeared to recount fragments of the conversation with the other representative. I wanted to move forward with a simple remake of my burger, but she began yelling at me. Completely unacceptable. I asked for the general manager's name, and she told me that she didn't know. And, I would have to call back later. She kept yelling, denying that she was yelling, and I had to inform her that I was disconnecting the call because of her temperament. I think there is some leadership, cultural sensitivity, and customer service training that is needed. I will not be returning. I could not even eat my burgerless sandwich. This place was great!! Before coming here I read some reviews from fellow yelpers and after experiencing this diner I could see what they were talking about but thankfully did not experience this myself. We walked in and saw the line to the back door, unclear on whether we needed to put a name down or not I began making my way to the front of the line where another patron told me they don't put down names but rather seat people on a first come first serve basis as tables become available. About four minutes of waiting later, a waiter asked the line if anyone wanted to sit at the counter and since there was only two people in my party, and we were quite hungry, we opted for the counter service. The counter was way more spacious than we thought and we were pleasantly surprised. The counter service was great and all the people that worked there were extremely friendly. Food was amazing!!! Pancakes were big and delicious and the eggs were fluffy and perfectly seasoned. Coffee was also amazing. Didn't expect it to be that good and three cups of coffee later and I was overwhelmingly satisfied. Something I thought was weird however was that when people got to the front of the line they don't actually take you in the order you were waiting but rather seem to place people strategically in the tables they have open. Seemed reasonable to me however if you are waiting 30 minutes and are next in line but they take the people behind you, I would definitely be frustrated too. read more

You can always expect a wait for this old fashioned place (it's called 50s diner after all). It's all cash and inside is really a fifties diner. It's super gimmick-y in the best way. 50's platter take out. Asked for extra well done sausage; girl on the phone asked me if I wanted it filleted down the middle? This is what I got. Almost raw sausage. The home fries had lots of hard, black, burnt pieces mixed in with just bland boiled pieces, not proportionately cooked. In the corner a pile of water mixed in with the melted American cheese. They must of closed the container when the food was still way too hot. Very disappointed. Waffle was soggy and rubbery, it came with canned whipped cream, by the time I got home (10min away) it was a melted, white, Liquid, mush. Not appetizing at all. The French toast that came with the 50's platter was only fully cooked on one side. As you can see in the picture. What happened to serving delicious, quality breakfast? Who is doing the cooking back there? Do they not care how they cook the food? This was disgusting and very dissatisfying, huge waste of money. They need to hire a new cook. Great little diner in Legacy. Very close to The Hilton. Just an Uber ride away. Always crowded with friendly wait staff and great for breakfast. No reservations and there is always a line for breakfast. Sometimes counter service is a better bet if it's available. Breakfast for two, eggs, potatoes and toast and coffee will cost around $20. Surely beats paying $60 plus for the same meal at a Hotel. Cash only and no credit cards. read more

My girlfriend and I were looking for some food before our movie at the cinema and we were originally going to the Whole Foods cafeteria when we spotted 50s Diner next to their parking lot in the back. I love diners and I suddenly felt like something from the grill so we took a detour here instead. The first thing I noticed when I stepped in is the large number of senior citizens dining here. Right away, that should have been somewhat of a red flag. The food was your typical American fare. I ordered the grilled cheese with root beer float and my girlfriend had a grilled chicken wrap with coffee. None of our orders were outstanding in taste, quality, or presentation. It was like they tried all they could NOT to impress us. Everything was serviceable but it's a hard sell for new customers to return. 50s diner seem to be perfectly fine serving their regulars but they should really step up their game with all the traffic in the area now due to Legacy Place. Unfortunately, I don't see myself returning to this unexciting location while there are so many great food options all around it. read more

After approximately 45 minutes, a waitstaff, (not ours), walked over, asked us if we were done, then promptly told us there are other people waiting, and to leave. As she was walking to the entrance, she turned around to us, (we were still in the booth), and yelled; "Appreciate the courtesy". There were 2 people waiting, and there were open tables for two. There is no other side to the story, nor is there any sensationalism. We are professionals, sitting quietly, with the goal of discussing business matters. As an FYI, our waitstaff, a younger woman with an accent, is always first-class. Its too bad, she is losing a customer, along with others we network with. We won't be returning. read more

True to its name - the 50's Diner brings back the nostalgic feeling of years ago. I've come to grow fond of this place and now frequent it for either breakfast or lunch. The usual hasn't changed and will go with the 50's Platter with extra crispy potatoes, scrambled eggs and 2x sausages. However, I've deviated and tried the omelet. It's beyond 5 eggs!! There's no way it's 3 eggs - give it 5+. In other words, you will not go hungry. The 50's Diner is great for families, kids, groups or solo. The diner caters to all. The 50's diner is a tradition with my first born son, Mikah and I. We get up early on his birthday, while his 4 younger siblings are still sleeping soundly. We would always go to the 50's Diner. We get to enjoy a rare quiet breakfast, where the most of the waitress' know us by sight. We missed the July date, but will pick a day to sneak away to the 50's diner, before my son goes off to his Sophomore year in College. Never Change! read more
