Too long;didn't read:
This is a long one, the last 3 paragraphs are what matters, before that is just details regarding the situation.
I gave management and ownership the chance to handle this professional and privately. They failed to do that.
In January i received poor service from their bartender, I will be respectful and not include names. I left it alone and was nice to her, we all have bad days, be supportive. Later that week I let other employees know about the issue and one became hostile and disrespectful.
The next day I came in with the intention of moving on and saying the past is the past, I felt there was mutual respect as up until now we have not had issues, I was also always supportive and did my best to be helpful when needed or when asked. The employee at issue showed up towards the end of me being there, she gave me attitude and I let her know I wasn't willing to talk to her, I refused to have a conversation with her, which resulted in more attitude. I then asked for a manager, he suggested the 3 of us talk which I was not comfortable with but gave it a chance, she had attitude right away so immediately I walked away from the conversation. As I did, the employee was yelling and using profanity, specifically calling me a "pussy", this was in front of the manager so he was part of what happened. I did not react, I stayed quiet and did not even turn around as to avoid the conflict getting worse.
I talked to the manager without the employee after that, and I felt it was at least somewhat productive and helpful, we discussed what happened, and although it's a "he said/ she said" issue, I felt he would handle it appropriately and we could discuss it a few days later. After that few days he refused to talk to me. After that I quit showing up to avoid more discomfort and issues. That should have been it, that should have been the end of the issue.
3 months later, in April, one of their employees tried to create issues in my personal life regarding myself and my child, she lied to others which created legal issues for me. I went in and tried to clear things up with the manager, which he was hostile and it didn't lead to a productive conversation. I was able to get proof that his employees were lying along with him stating "I don't care if my employees lie, everybody lies." He was hostile from the moment I pointed out the issues his employees are causing. In the end the conversation was unproductive due to his hostility. I recorded the whole conversation so I have proof of this.
I then reached out to above local management and provided my info and my side of the story, along with the recorded conversation and proof of their employees lying. I was told they would look into it. After a week, instead of following up and responding,, I got a surprise visit from the champlin police at my home stating I've been trespassed. Instead of being adults they completely avoided the issue. I have been suggested from others in the area that I should take legal action against them and their employees, but unlike them my intention is not to create issues. Instead I feel it is more appropriate to let them work on their issues, and I will only be vocal to the community so others are aware they are currently not in a position to be trusted. Again, they have a manager that finds lying acceptable, and I have it on record.
I have talked to management of many other restaurants in the area and each one is not impressed with 5-8, and they were not impressed the employees at issue were not let go.
I used to be a supporter of them, but that will never happen again, they have probably the worst reputation of all restaurants in champlin and don't seem to realize that, I used to try to defend them but I now know I was wrong for doing that. Ask around, you won't be impressed with what you hear.
I suggest you support any other restaurant in champlin, you will receive much better and more professional service, along with no ridiculous 3% employee retention fee. Instead of charging more, they should be focusing on their quality of service. read more
