I have been to Willy McCoys a few times in the past and only ordered their nachos (which are really good!), but today I tried an entree and some drinks. I ordered the fish and chips and was very impressed! The breading was crispy, the fries were a bit soggy, but the coleslaw was fantastic! The drinks on the other hand were weak and flavorless. Would not recommend if you plan on sitting at the bar. The ambiance is fun and upbeat. It's pretty noisy though, so if you're looking for a nice sit-down dinner, it may not be the place for you. Willy McCoy's is an okay, lively family bar and grill with a fun ambience. I love that they offer happy hour all day, every day, and it's nice to see them adding more specialty cocktails to the menu. I tried the espresso martini wasn't great, but good enough. I'd rate it a 6.3/10. It was pretty boozy, so maybe a little less alcohol would make it smoother. For food, I ordered the Birria tacos, recommended by my server who was great! and they were actually very good--well seasoned, flavorful consomé, and a generous portion of meat. I also liked that it came with rice so you can mix it with the consomé. The chips and salsa with the rice were a bit too filling though; I'd say pick one or the other. My son got the wings (half buffalo, half sweet heat). The wings are always yummy here! I'd give them an 8.9/10. Overall, it's a great spot to stop for dinner, especially if you're catching a movie afterward since it's within walking distance of Andover Cinema. read more

The outdoor smoking section is right next to the outdoor dining patio. I tried to enjoy a meal outside but it was like sitting next to power plant chimney as one person after another went to smoke and was only a few feet away from me. Never really tasted the food just breathed in an hour's worth of second hand smoke. This place had delicious cooking food smells wafting into the parking lot as we arrived. We barely got here before the dinner rush on a Friday and we seated immediately. It was happy hour and they have two for one drink specials. One thing to note about this special is they bring both drinks at the same time. The bar area is huge and they have a second bar outside. We ordered steak bites as an appetizer. They came out quickly and were well cooked and the sauce was tangy. My husband got tacos and I ordered a salad. I had a hard time deciding on a salad because there were several I wanted to try. I really liked the one I chose with pecans, apples and feta cheese. I got grilled chicken which was cooked nicely and the salad was delicious. The only complaint my husband had was the sauce was too thin. Our service was great. Our waitress seemed like she really knew her job and the girl she was training picked empty dishes and glasses from our table without being directed to. The food came out very quickly which was surprising since there were so many people eating there. As we were leaving there were lots of people waiting to get in. read more

What to do for a birthday dinner when you're not ready to eat out during COVID 19? Order Curbside from a neighborhood favorite. I've never been disappointed in their service. And their food is pretty good. Placing our order over the phone was easy and fast. Order was ready in 15 mins. Gave color, make & model of car and was advised to pull into curbside spot. Server came out (in mask) within 2 mins of pulling up. He had our order in a bag and grabbed my CC for payment. He went inside to process and returned within 5 mins to sign my receipt. Again... fast and easy. I ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich with waffle fries and seasoned sour cream. Negatives: not really flavorful, kind of blah. Had to add either ketchup or SSC to give it something. Too many tomatoes (I'm not a fan!). Positives: the chicken was battered, not breaded. I prefer battered. Um... bacon!...yum. I love grilled sour dough. Crispy yet soft. And the fries and SSC hit the spot. Mouth on fire after done eating. Sis ordered the Southwest Chicken Wrap. This was the better of the two. Loaded with flavor, not very spicy. Spice came from the SSC. Her mouth was on fire too by the time we were done. I'm glad I tried the CBR sandwich but will probably not order it again. Another great experience - 4.5 stars. This isn't the kind of place that I usually enjoy very much. But Willy McCoys is so good at what they do, they've won me over. It's hard to not love them. I've visited 2 other locations but this was my first time trying out Andover. I went on a Sunday afternoon, hoping to hit a lull in the action. Wow, I was wrong! It was busy as hell. Fortunately, I managed to snag a spot at the bar and avoid a long wait. 1. FOOD: Willy McCoys is a Minnesota bar/restaurant, a small chain that seems to be adding locations on a slow but steady pace. Overall, I'm really impressed. They obviously spend a lot of extra effort on the food. They really specialize in burgers other hand help types of foods but they also have full dinners, lots of appetizers, soups, and desserts. I really enjoyed my red pepper feta cheese dip. My burger was great and cooked perfectly. The fries were very good, above average, obviously made in-house. The chorizo potato soup-of-the-day rocked! And last but not least, my house-made brownie with ice cream was ridiculous (in a good way)...both giant and excellent. It was only me chowing down. I definitely had leftovers. 2. DRINKS: They have a big selection of beers on tap and even more in bottles. I tried a couple of off-beat varieties on tap - yum! There's lots of liquor too including a variety of specialty cocktails. I'll probably try one of these next time around. 3. SERVICE: The service was excellent. Despite being busy and at 100% capacity, the bartender was very attentive, friendly, and totally on top of his game. His timing was perfect. The food came out quickly, in the correct order, and the timing was excellent. Impressive. This place is obviously run with military type efficiency. 4. PRICES: The prices seem to be reasonable and in-line with what you get. In my humble opinion, it wasn't cheap but it didn't seem too expensive for what I got. The cost seems to be on-point, especially in this time of ridiculous inflation...especially with food. These guys definitely have their act together. The food and the service standards seem to be high. They've always been consistent, regardless of the location. I'm a little stingy about handing out 5 stars reviews. Willy McCoy's is off of Bunker Hills (not far from Bunker Hills Regional Park) and a good place to stop after a bicycle ride through Bunker Hills Park. It's always 2-for-1 on their beers and alcoholic drinks, so buyer beware! They bring both drinks out at once (so if you're a slow drinker, your other beer gets warm) instead of staggering them. Luckily we came with our biking gang, so it was easy to "share" the extra beer with them! read more

Don't order burgers here. The descriptions are great, but they ALWAYS over cook the burgers. After two years of giving them second chances, I'm done ordering anything burger related with them. I like that they have 2 for 1s all day. I love their burger creations. I have been there quite a few times, and am never disappointed in the food. The mac and cheese balls are amazing. The PB&J burger and the Jalapeño Cream Cheese burger are to die for!!! Perfect cheese curds with an airy batter around them and the chipotle ranch that comes with them is definitely worth saving for your fries. Second time visiting, thought I'd write a review. Both times I've eaten here the food has been good. The service the first visit was very slow. This time, on a Sunday afternoon the service was great. I had the Willy McCoy version of a "juicy Lucy". It was delicious. I opted for the coleslaw as my side and was very happy. It had a little spice to it as well. The reason I gave it 4/5 was because the building itself is very noisy. If you're looking for a lively bar to eat and drink, it's 5/5. I will be back. I want to try more of the menu. read more

Willie McCoys is your pretty typical sports bar. Western themed, I guess, you know the type. Anyway, while it isn't a place I would rave about I have usually been pretty happy with my food here*. Though, I think I've realized I've ordered the same thing nearly every time! For starters, this is the place I think of when I am craving french fries. They have the BEST crinkle cut fries - I am never disappointed with those. I think I have always ordered the turkey club, its a pretty good sandwich. THOUGH, last time I was in there was no bacon on it (NO BACON?!?!) and the sandwich was very lopsided and thrown together (One half had like 2 slices of meat while the other had like a pound of meat - and I didn't realize until I had eaten the first half other wise I would have un-lopped it.) So, kinda unhappy about my last experience with it. The burgers have always looked good. We once had happy hour nachos that were pretty good - If I recall we ordered them special (maybe with cheese sauce?). They were great for happy hour price. I took a look at the menu and it seems maybe they don't do happy hour any more? Rather certain nights offer "half off select apps" between 3-6 and 9-12. This is a major bummer as I'd definitely pick this place for happy hour food otherwise. Drinks are 2-4-1. If you order a mixed drink you're best getting 2 shots in one drink - otherwise they're pretty weak. A Coors light was $5.50 so the 2-4-1 price seems pretty fair (compared to the $7 price we paid at another 2-4-1 place). I would personally probably avoid this place late night as I suspect it gets busy with Andover "bros" getting drunk and rowdy. Also, free popcorn would make this place awesome. read more

First off, the food is usually great. Tonight we ordered to go. We arrived at the time provided and called for curbside pick up, the hostess said our food was ready and someone would be out shortly. 15 min later, I called again as no one had come out. The hostess said she would send someone right out. A server then came out with our food and said they had the wrong vehicle model for us, we drive a Grey RAV 4 which is not typically a confusing vehicle description. We were the only car in the designated curbside pickup this entire time... My husband asked how long our food had been sitting out and the server replied she did not know and promptly took our card to charge. We understand it was a busy night but eating food that's been sitting out and paying good money for it is not comforting. Hopefully the process for curbside can be streamlined. read more

This place is a joke. The disrespect we received during our private party in the back room was unbelievable!!! It wasn't from the waitress, who did great job, but from one of the female owners of the bar. She let kids into the room to run free in and out of the emergency exit against our protests and requests to keep the doors closed. During an 88th birthday party where half the guests were older and getting cold due to winter weather. No care in the world from the owner. Willy's is always busy and the atmosphere is great. They have buy one get one beers which is always a plus. We came late on a Thursday night so there was no line but weekends are usually a lot busier. Taking a seat at the bar while waiting helps it go faster. My mom ordered a flatbread but has a gluten allergy so she asked for gluten free bread. Not only was our server accommodating, it tasted amazing! I split the nachos and I'm sad to say they were disappointing. The chicken was dry and cold and the dish lacked flavor. I've eaten here before and the main dishes are the way to go.
