    Outside patio area- great shade!

My boyfriend and I were originally trying to go to a different business in the area for lunch, but they were closed and we saw this place had good ratings! I'm really glad we stopped in! There is a parking ramp and street parking in the area. Both are free. They were decorating for Halloween and it gave us such a fun vibe! We were immediately welcomed in and the service was phenomenal the entire time we were there! I would go back on service alone! The upstairs area isn't overly large but they do have tables, booths and a bar to sit at. There was a sign that said "basement closed" so I assume there was more down there. There are TV's, so this would be a cool spot to grab a beer and watch the game for sure! There is also a small outdoor seating area and is next to a fountain. The food: The deep fried pickle spears were good! The batter is light and crispy! However, because these are spears, they took a long time to cool to properly eat. It comes with jalapeño ranch, which has a slight kick but nothing crazy. I recommend getting the regular ranch too! My boyfriend got the Reuben and noted it was "solid." I got the deep fried buffalo chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries! Both were excellent! The chicken was seasoned well before battered and the sweet potato fries had a sweet/lime/seasoning that was unique and tasty! This is definitely worth checking out!

This is a must stop in Anoka! We were up the street getting some wings (iykyk) and didn't quite want the night to end. After walking by a few spots we made it to MaGillycuddy's and so glad we did! We were lucky enough to grab one of the last tables and the server quickly stopped by and asked us what she could get. Of course we had to get the gilly grenade! It was such a fun shot and they have a tv going with photos and videoes of people doing the shot. We grabbed a few other drinks as we passed the time. The bar had a steady flow of people with what seemed like a good mix of regulars and not so regulars. The whole vibe was extremely welcoming and fun. If your in Anoka, def make this one of your stops!

I was looking for a new place to try in this area and this looked like a good spot. For lunch, I had the Walleye, which I've been eating as often as possible on my trip! The meal consisted of walleye, french fries and coleslaw. It was very good and reasonably priced. Our server, Mandy was very friendly and helpful. If I lived here, that's probably would be a fun local hang out. Very warming and comfortable.

Had a blast drinking up their popular Gilly grenade and listening to people preform kareoke! Such a cozy and nice bar the decor and general vibe was great. The waitress was so kind and funny and I could tell she was well loved by the patrons who walked in. I loved feeling so welcomed and enjoying a drink while seeing the snow outside.

Stopped in during a bar crawl in the legendary dta. We were told we just had to try the magillycuddys shot. We were not disappointed. We stopped at the festive tree out front for a photo-opp before grabbing a chill table in the corner of the bar. The service was nice and quick, and I can't wait for my next visit. One of the must-dos while in downtown anoka for sure!

If you are in Anoka and up for a drink, this is a most stop. Order a round of Gilly Grenades to get the night started and watch the video playing showing people taking the shot.

Off the beaten path of downtown Anoka you will find Magillycuddys tucked away from the madness of Jackson Street. I've heard mixed reviews of this bar and after a visit for myself, I kinda fell in love with the place. Food was solid, locals were awesome, and the bartender/serving staff were super outgoing and friendly. My bartender (and owner), Todd, was the type of guy you would drunkenly pour your heart out and he would listen to every last word. Here's what I had to eat and drink on my first visit. "Gilly Grenade" I was told by a patron that this shot is a must for any first timer and I'm glad I was talked into it. A grenade themed drop shot uses Fireball Whiskey as the "pin". Once the pin is pulled it drops Cherry Dr Mcgillicuddy into Liquid Ice Energy Drink. I thoroughly enjoyed this drink and strongly recommend it if you visit. "Guinness Cheese Burger" And open faced 1/3 pound burger with a slice of thick cut sourdough at its based, then topped with a heaping mountain of crispy fries and ladled with a generous helping of DELICIOUS Guinness beer cheese, topped with diced bacon. Personally I would like to see this exact set up as a more traditional style sandwich over open face, but I wasn't mad about it. Since my first visit I have already returned a couple of times. Of all the bars to go to in Anoka this one is definitely the best atmosphere.

We stopped at MaGillycuddy's in Anoka after taking our daughter on a train ride on the Northstar. The inside might not be super kid friendly, but the outside definitely is, with big picnic tables, a fun view of city streets and a fountain, and some room to run around while waiting for food. We were surprised by how good the food was; we both got burgers and they were pretty tasty, especially considering how inexpensive they were (ok, maybe we are just used to Minneapolis prices). Service was good too; the server was prompt and friendly, and was good with all the kids that were eating outside. All in all, not a bad option for lunch of dinner in downtown Anoka.

Food: 4/5 Staff: waaay busy Building: 5/5 Menu: 4/5 Cost: 4/5 For bar food this place is worth it. Very good. Definitely will be revisiting. The place was very busy between the outside and inside. Especially since they only had two staff working. The price was average for decent bars, but unlike most bars the food was actually worth what I was paying. It seemed like the two bartenders/waiters were running both inside and outside which I'm sure was not easy for them. I'm hoping there was cook otherwise I'm giving them 10 out 5 for amazing. The building was old and absolutely gorgeous. Really curious to see what was downstairs. I'd pay 5 dollars just to tour the joint. Anyway the only thing that kind of drove me nuts was the fact that at an Irish Pub, they flipping poured my Guinness wrong. COME ON MAN ITS A GUINNESS.

Stopped in for a Bloody Mary and and also tried the Irish Nachos. Everything was tasty and the bartender and patrons were very friendly. It was our first visit and won't be the last!

I'd rate it a 6.3/10. It was pretty boozy, so maybe a little less alcohol would make it smoother. For food, I ordered the Birria tacos, recommended by my server who was great! and they were actually very good--well seasoned, flavorful consomé, and a generous portion of meat. I also liked that it came with rice so you can mix it with the consomé. The chips and salsa with the rice were a bit too filling though; I'd say pick one or the other. My son got the wings (half buffalo, half sweet heat). The wings are always yummy here! I'd give them an 8.9/10. Overall, it's a great spot to stop for dinner, especially if you're catching a movie afterward since it's within walking distance of Andover Cinema.

Our waitress was very accomdating until she got busy then we felt we were forgotten. We ordered the Drunken shrimp , bread with olive oil and the avocado toast to start with. The drunken shrimp is just as good as we remember the saffron sauce is sooooo good! but there were 3 of us sharing the apps and it only came with 2 crostini's we asked for a 3rd so we could each have one but little did we know that one very small skinny piece of bread had a $1.00 charge to it. The steak bites with their homemade blue cheese sauce was to die for melt in your mouth!! I even asked if we could buy some of the blue cheese sauce, she said no but that she would bring us another dish of it but she never did. My girlfriend ordered a cranberry mule drink, she was charged an extra $1.00 for the cranberry. We also ordered the goat cheese with sauces that were very delicious with an ample amount of crackers. We got the chocolate Ganache cake to share for dessert. But............ the waitress never took our empty dirty plates but showed up with the dessert with the mess on table, I asked for extra clean plates but she never brought them. Everything we ordered was very delicious, but as the night progressed our service got worse, we asked for the bill but she never came back to get our payment and we had questions my girlfriend walked it up to the bartender with our payments. 2 of us were paying cash and one a credit card and we were charged an extra fee of $5.18 for her using a credit card. That is when we saw the $1.00 charge for 1 piece 3/8" bread and the $1.00 for cranberry mule. Talk about nickel and diming. We would love to go back but unsure if I can get past some of these things. Also, now looking at the bill even closer, none of us had a mimosa and we were charged $8.95 for one.How did we miss that? All added up we paid $16.00 more than we should have. CRAZY!! Sadly, Don't know if I'll be back.

It was a Friday night, but we arrived a bit after 5 pm and the place was completely full. However, we didn't wait long for a table because turnover is quick. This is the second time I've eaten at this location and the food and service is consistently good. The 5-8 Club claims they invented the Juicy Lucy, as does Matt's Bar. (For those who don't know, a Juicy Lucy made of two thin hamburger patties stuffed with cheese and then grilled, resulting in liquid lava in the middle of your hamburger.) My wife says that she prefers Matt's Jucy Lucy (note spelling difference) because the burgers are smaller, meaning the cheese to meet ratio makes it more cheesy, where 5-8 uses a larger burger, so it seems as if they use less cheese. I'm not a huge fan of either (I'd rather have a conventional burger), but personally I'd opt for the larger burger with more meat than cheese. Also, I give points to 5-8 for spelling Juicy correctly. The fries that come with the burger were seemed like they were battered, but were hot and tasty. I opted for the Wings and chose the Thai Chili sauce. The wings were great! I have been into wings lately and these were very meaty and were well crisped on the outside, but juicy (or jucy) on the inside. The Thai Chili sauce was sweet and a bit tangy, but certainly not overly spicy. The wings came with celery sticks and a blue cheese dressing that had actual blue cheese in the dressing. Service was friendly and surprisingly good, considering how busy they were. All in all, it was a good experience. There menu is typical bar food, but they do it well.
