There is a sweet young man, Ruben, who was very patient and helped answer all of my questions as I was trying to figure out proper size of a new shoe with my usual insoles. Upon removing the shoe to wrap up my visit, I noticed a small hole on the top of the shoe. It was slightly hidden, but based on the work I do, I feared the small hole would eventually become a bigger issue over time. So I asked Ruben if there was another pair. I didn't ask for a discount, but he offered to see if there was a possibility for a discount based on the small hole noticed, as he had seen it too. He walked to the back to touch base with the MOD, and she came back with what seemed like a dismissive and condescending attitude. She began inspecting the shoe in front of me, repeating that there was no hole. I pointed it out for her and showed her where the hole was. She said "So you don't want them?". I wasn't going to argue with her, but I also wasn't going to waste Ruben's time at his attempt to save the sale, so I purchased the insoles and left to buy the shoe from another retailer. Had she spoken to me like an adult, or just explained for such a minor flaw she could not offer a discount, or offered to order another pair for me, my transaction would've continued. But not only am I a trained seamstress, with a degree in fashion design, and a small business in handmade leather goods, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Made in the USA. Lifetime warranty. Customer service that exceeds expectations. When's the last…read moretime you experienced that trifecta? Mine was on Friday, when I stopped by NalPak Group's HQ with an early generation of its vaunted Tuffpak 1050 Gun Case -- in Hunter Green. (Fortunately for me, I live a little over a mile from the shop -- which, for a knife and flashlight guy, is kinda dangerous to the wallet.) These cases are built like Fort Knox, and can carry multiple long guns or, with the right golf bag, a set of golf clubs. The only thing I didn't like about this early-gen case was the top handle, which laid flat on the top and wasn't comfortable to pull the case with for long distances. Fortunately, NalPak improved the case over the years, and the upgrade I most wanted was the new cushioned handle with more room for my hand to pull the case with ease. When I brought the case into the store for the handle, the friendly Office Manager, Annette, who also oversees the retail store, called a gentleman from the back, who looked over the vintage Tuffpak, asked what I needed -- the new-style handle -- and offered to install new wheels (softer roller-blade style -- a definite upgrade), too. After a short wait, my case emerged with the new handle, new wheels, an added internal hook and accessory bag (included on newer models) and a new strap and buckle. I asked what the charge was, and they said zero! How do you top that customer service? It's great to have such an amazing company headquartered right here in my hometown of El Cajon, California. Thanks, NalPak. You're the best!
