Tried this place for an early breakfast. Our family of 2 adults and 3 kids ended up seating outside as there was ample seating available. We ordered 3 breakfast sandwiches, a drip coffee, and a cappuccino. I was disappointed that they only served medium coffee but still gave it a shot anyways. I was even more disappointed when both coffees turned out too acidic to my liking. I really wish the was a darker roast option. I couldn't say the sandwiches were much better. The sausage patty was thick but there was too much strong herb flavour(thyme I believe) to my liking. The other sandwiches had these hamburger-like buns which made the ratio of bread to filling way off. Every bite felt like I was eating more bread than egg. Can't say I'll try the breakfast or coffee again but I will give their donuts a shot sometime. read more

I'm not a huge donut person, but I honestly think that the honey cruller I got here was the best donut I've ever had! There were other donuts that I didn't get a chance to try, but I will definitely go back. read more

There is something so addicting about the Venezuelan Coffee... No matter how cold it is outside, I will go to 49th Parallel every day that I am in Vancouver, just to order it. It is so well balanced and flavored, making it my most desired coffee out of the 13 countries that I have visited. Could be even better than a coffee in Venezuela, but I'll let you know when I make it there. As for the Lucky's donuts, those are amazing too. Slightly sweet, airy, and tasty, I could eat them all day. They are so much better than the donuts that we have in America and I do not feel guilty about my decision. The cafe itself is well-lit, with ample seating and strong WiFi, always toasty and always a pleasant experience because of the staff. read more

This place was great for a quick coffee and breakfast. The keto plate was healthy and reportedly the best fried eggs my husband has ever had! Quite a compliment i would say. I had the avocado toast which was just what I needed. I worked hard to avoid what seemed like amazing donuts... read more

I'm always on the prowl for a good doughnut and I've passed by this place numerous times and ignored it because I'm too busy trying to forget that I just walked by a trump property and I hate that man with all the white hot passion of a thousand suns. I digress. I gave 49th Parallel a try today and it did not disappoint. The doughnut selection wasn't necessarily extensive, but they had enough to make the decision a tough one. I got a Bismarck (sp?) that had something like a caramel iced milk or cream in the center. I want to say it was a con leche or something. Regardless of the name, it was mighty good! I also got a Long John which was equally delicious. For dessert, I ordered the Salmon Benny and I can say without hesitation that it was like a dream that I didn't want to end. The cold smoked salmon was done perfectly, and melted like butter beneath the hollandaise sauce and poached eggs. The arugula side salad had a nice, light and subtle lemony dressing and I washed it all down with a very pleasant, almost tangy cuppa coffee. Definitely gonna be my go to place to open the feed window every time I'm in Vancouver. Well done, Folks!!! read more

Delightful coffee with some of the richest-looking donuts I've ever seen. This is a great pit stop for your must-have coffees on the weekends. The line can be a bit long but moves quickly. I also saw that they had a lot of breakfast options, so this may even be a good spot for brunch. read more

What a great place in Vancouver. Coffee is delicious and the doughnuts are sublime (pictured are americanos - hot and iced - paired with a salted caramel doughnut and a matcha ring). Prices were decent and the service was fast but not overly friendly I'm afraid. read more

This place is located in downtown Vancouver ground floor of an office building. Best known for their coffee, espresso, light breakfast and doughnuts from lucky's doughnuts. Coffee is absolutely what people line up for and believe me this place gets pretty crowded. The doughnuts my husband and I tried are meh just ok, the strawberry buttermilk is more on the dense side and for us it was no big deal not even the icing. The Avo sandwich and their salmon with hollandaise sauce was amazing a must try! the overall vibe is really great! We loved the atmosphere. read more

Where do I start??? UMMM BOMB.DOT.COM! Legit there are no words to describe how delicious this place is, but I'll try my best. I was visiting from the U.S. and I ordered a cinnamon roll and the avo (an avocado egg sandwich on a brioche bun). That cinnamon roll was huge and life changing. Easily the best I've ever had. I did have problems finding the menu online so I took as many pics as I could before moving past the checkout area. The sandwich was also satisfying so definitely give this place a try. You won't regret it! read more

49th Parallel has great coffee and baked goods. They cater to gluten free and vegan diets, yay! The seating can be cramped and limited and they don't offer wifi on weekends (I guess to try and fix the seating problem), so be mindful of that if you're looking for a good spot to camp out for a work session! Food and drinks are quite pricey, so I usually only come here once in a while. They have a great selection though, so I'd recommend trying it out at least once. read more

Stopped in on my way to work and the service was quick and friendly. Had a London fog latte which was one of the best to date and paired it with a creme brûlée donut from lucky's which was hands down one of the best donuts I've had. I went here on a weekend trip to Vancouver and loved it. The atmosphere is beautiful, and the food is delicious. We ordered the Doug sandwich, which was a wonderful breakfast sandwich, a pistachio donut, and a cheddar chive scone. The donut was delicious, and they had so many other flavors I would have loved to try. We also had the cheese and bacon jam toast which was amazing. It was a bit heavy with lots of cheese, but perfect for sharing. We ordered a cardamom cold brew that was wonderfully refreshing and unique. We liked this place so much we almost came back the next day! I'd recommend it for anyone visiting Vancouver. read more

I was going downtown for a quick errand but thought I would stop in here to make the trip a little more worth the time and this place did not disappoint. The atmosphere is so focused, on a nice corner and if I lived closer this would 100% be my normal study spot. I didn't have time to look around but from a quick glance it seemed like there was plenty of tables and seating. As for the menu everything on it looked amazing, I decided on the Venezuelan iced coffee and a cold brew cruller and both were perfect. I'm so glad I was able to stop in and I will definitely be coming back if I can! read more

I always stop by this place for coffee and Vegan donuts when I am in the area. My last stop was not all that great though. I will just say the barista did not make my drink when he said he did. I stood in front of the counter for about 10 minutes, noticing the customers behind me retrieving their drinks before me. When I asked him, he said someone took it. When I paid for my drinks no one was ahead of me so not sure how someone else took it. Maybe comp me for my wait? Either way, I will continue to stop by and hoping not to run into that same barista again as my drink was horrible. The 4 stars are for my past experiences and not for what I mentioned in this review. Here is to my next visit and crossing fingers it will not be as bad as this. read more

Great place for a quick breakfast! We rented an Airbnb around the corner and needed a quick bite before heading to the airport in the morning. Stopped in and grabbed the avo sandwich with bacon added. My friend grabbed a couple of the delicious doughnuts from the case. Both our breakfasts were super tasty and ready to go quickly. I was a little bit flustered paying with my last few Canadian coins and putting the rest on my card. However the woman at the counter was super patient with me despite the fact that I pulled out my card too quickly. Definitely a wonderful little coffee shop to grab a bite and a beverage. I'd love to stop back in when I have a little more time on my next visit. read more

I can't believe I haven't tried their Egg Burger until recently. I have always been a huge fan of their doughnuts since I dislike the heavy, cakier types. Lucky's Doughnuts are always so light and chewy that you can eat a whole bunch of them! I recently discovered the Egg Burger and have been steadily making it a bi-weekly treat. If you haven't had it, you definitely need to go get one. My favourites are the Doug and Cascadia. The bun that the sandwich comes in and the tomato jam on it is fantastic! It's the perfect brunch-in-a-bun. read more

As a dedicated home barista, I love picking up my fresh roasted beans directly from the 49th Parallel Roasters in Burnaby. Another 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters and Lucky's Doughnuts location has opened up (after Mount Pleasant and Kitsilano) at the edge of downtown's office district. Vancouver clearly loves its booming artisanal doughnut industry. The kicker is this outlet serves breakfast (until 3pm or when they run out). The new Cascadia breakfast sandwich (with egg over easy, cheese, maple bacon, and honey mustard aioli) is the real deal and quite tasty albeit on the pricey side. They also offer various breakfast plates as well. This 49th cafe is located right in the lobby of the FortisBC Centre building on West Georgia and Thurlow. I've already developed a soft spot for their refreshing Venezuelan iced coffee and rotating feature ring doughnut (usually with some sort of pink, fruity frosting) as a nice mid-afternoon snack. It's easy to see 49th and Lucky's continued appeal. The neat ground level setting with bright lighting and plenty of local foot traffic is already making the new location a convenient stop by. read more

The regular coffee is way too acidic. Wish they offered different blends. Espresso drinks are nice but seem rather overpriced. Their coffee aka sour armpit juice, aka seniors' puke, aka camel-piss-taste's-better is probably one of the worst tasting coffee ever. Their American is tolerable. They don't ask for names. I give them that. But place Almond Milk and Splenda in the common areas. Why are you hiding it and having me ask you for it? It's a common part of a daily coffee buyers' routine to make our coffee the way we want it to taste. You're not really serving Michelin coffee here, don't make it hard for us to fix the taste at least. read more

This is 49th Parallel's newest location, conveniently located in the heart of downtown. I really like the design of this location, which has higher ceilings and overall just seems more open compared to their Kitsilano location. I believe this location is also the only one which currently serves real food (breakfast and lunch) which is great if you work around the area. I came and tried one of their breakfast sandwiches shortly after the place opened. If you've seen them on Instagram, their breakfast sandwiches (called eggburgers) look similar to the ones from Eggslut in the States, right down to the packaging in the paper sleeve. They offer two options, and I got The Doug (scrambled eggs with chives, cheese caramelized onion, maple bacon, and garlic aioli). I will definitely say that the sandwich was delicious and flavourful, and the bun was great (apparently they make them in-house or there's something special about them, I'm not entirely sure what though)... but it was also WAY too small and expensive, at $9 for one. I was definitely still hungry after I finished mine! Brunch plates range from $13-15, although I'm not sure how big the portions are. Can't say I can really recommend having breakfast here, given the price-value ratio, but other than that, the location is convenient and the space is beautiful, and all the other things like coffee and donuts are consistent with their other locations. Update: You can get an eggburger plus coffee every day until 2 PM for $10! read more

The recent opening of this joint has me torn between it and the neighborhood JJ Bean, which I love. This is where I come when I need a donut to go with my latte, and when I don't mind spending a little more and maybe waiting in a long line. The service here has been extremely friendly and warm. When I ordered my last pair of donuts, the lady taking my order practically squealed with delight as she heard my choices. It made me smile and made my donuts taste better.
