Best steak the size of a baseball I've ever eaten. Came here for a work social function. A beautiful courtyard out back, behind the main bar. High glass ceiling and interesting brickwork. This setting would work well for a small wedding or a special birthday. Staff were attentive while we mingled, but the first drinks were a bit slow to arrive. The hot appetisers were fried dumplings: despite being fried they were light, fresh tasting and not at all greasy. Unusually, they were offered with a mustard sauce - which kind of worked. Great service - entrees were delivered en masse per table, which added to the fine dining feel. I had an enormous cut of fillet, cooked rare-medium perfectly. The meat stood on its own, no seasoning necessary and no room for sides or starches. Dessert was off-menu, a special of layered praline pecans, caramel and cream. Simply evil in its deliciousness, I could not manage to eat the icing layer as it was just too rich! Research online confirmed that this nutty, caramel-ly creamy cake was a Georgia pecan dacquoise - a house speciality. read more

We also had just traveled from NJ and were looking for something a bit more causal. We were totally going to just bail on it and go to my girlfriends google search recommendation of "the pink house"... I didn't want to be asked how it was when we got back to the inn and have to lie so we gave it a shot. Worth every penny. I had the veal chop oscar.. Best veal chop i have ever had, got it medium rare. The king crab and hollandaise (which I'm 99% sure is freshly made there) were great. Girlfriend had a special for the night of a pork tenderloin with sweet potato mash and collard greens. Ive never seen her eat so much. Attention to detail was also very obvious. I drink a lot of water with lemon, and a place that takes their lemons and de-seeds them is what made me want to give the experience 6 stars. Stopped in on Thanksgiving Eve not expecting much being as it was the night before a huge holiday and I must say, I was totally blown away. From the moment I walked in the door until the second I left my visit was total perfection. My server Madi was charming and personable, knew the menu well and made impeccable recommendations. The bar service was excellent with a perfect pour of Bulliet bourbon and the food (oysters Rockefeller, Caesar salad, ciopinno and apple crisp) was flawless. Sadie and Pedro, two of the other servers also made a point to come over and make sure that I was enjoying my evening. There is nothing I enjoy more than dining out in Savannah, especially when the service is as wonderful as that provided by Madi and Pedro and the staff at 45 Bistro! read more

Really 4.5 stars but if I have to choose between 4 or 5 then 5 it is. Gave 45 Bistro a try because of the reviews and I along with my wife am glad I did. I had the Bibb salad and my wife had the Red Leaf salad. Both were excellent, presentations were great and combinations were great. My wife said she could of done without the shoestring potatoes and I would agree with her but it was still good. We had the Tuna capaccico and that was a first for us. I would go 4 stars on that. Tasty but I think the Beef would of been better. Now for the Duck 2 ways. We almost never order Duck because I feel that nobody ever makes it as good as I do so it's usually disappointing. The Duck was 4.5 and almost made it to mine. However the chef doesn't have the cook time I do at home for the fat rendering. Still did a great job. A little more rare than medium rare but he erred on the right side for us. Made reservations for the upcoming Saturday we were so impressed. 5 stars plus to our waiter and all the wait staff. The food and services was the best. Very good atmosphere. My wife and I ate hear last night and both ordered different specials. I had a espresso rubbed ribeye with mushroom and asparagus which was cooked perfect and I was melt in you mouth. My wife had the red snapper with lobster risotto and it was spot on also. The restaurant shares a lobby with Marshall House Hotel (also great and charming) so we booked a table based on the menu. It was an inspired choice. The awesome artwork in the dining room (Susan Easton paintings) set the stage for a great evening. We both had very nice cocktails. The waiter offered an appetizer special of Oysters Rockefeller, holy cow were they good. So good that I ordered it again and had a second plate. The oysters were so delicately baked within the spinach, cream sauce, and bacon. Perfection on a plate! Then I enjoyed their Shrimp and Grits with Tasso Ham Gravy. Someone really understands cooking seafood, once again the shrimp were cooked just to a perfect temperature, rich and juicy. My wife had a salad garnished with grapefruit and gorgonzola cheese, she said it was a surprisingly delicious combination. Then she had the Carpaccio with crispy capers, it was a little overdress. The waiter offered to have the dish remade, but she happily ate all of the meat leaving a bit of the dressing behind. We shared the apple crisp but could not finish it, the first two courses and delicious cocktails were quite sufficient. This is a place I have already recommended to the locals we have met. We were visiting Savannah to run a half marathon and wanted to take advantage of some local cuisine. This was the one higher end place we sampled. We started with the beef carpaccio, which was excellent. We also had the escargot appetizer, which was good. I had the fish special of the evening and my boyfriend had the duck. Both were fine. We also had sides of mushroom risotto, which was good, and creamed spinach, which neither of us really cared for. The restaurant was very quiet, but we did go on a Monday evening. Overall, it was just fine. The experience wasn't horribly disappointing but it didn't really wow us either. read more

We found ourselves in Savannah recently, and since we had heard very good things about 45 Bistro, we decided to give it a try. Also, we happen to have a Bistro 45 where we come from, so it was only natural that we should try this place and compare the two! Jk. As it turns out, the recommendation was a good one. The location is great -- in the historic central district, away from those tacky tourist-trap restaurants. For starters, we discovered their wonderful "Old School" bar, staffed with professional (and very engaging) bartenders. As for dinner, everything we tried turned out to be delicious and well-presented: The Alaskan Crab Souffle, the Smoked Duck Pizza, and the Deep Fried Soft-Shell Crab. Pricey, but definitely worth it. On a recent trip to Savannah my sister and I decided to have dinner at the 45 Bistro. We walked in earlier that day and decided to make a reservation. We couldn't find someone in the restaurant to we went to the bar. The bar tender was a little curt with us when we inquired about making a reservation. We returned for our reservation time, the hostess who sat us was cold and not very friendly. However our waiter was great, had a good attitude and was very helpful. Appetizer- My sister had the Beef Carpaccio, the meat was very fresh. I had the shrimp and grits which was very good, but a little heavy for an appetizer. Main Course- My sister had the pan seared duck which was very good. I had the pork chop with collard greens it was very good. The pork chop was huge! Way too much meat for one person. We had to skip dessert because of the amount of food we had with our appetizer and main course. Overall it is a nice restaurant with good food. read more

We were here for a rehearsal dinner last month. The glassed-in courtyard was a lovely venue that seemed at once spacious and intimate. The appetizers and drinks were fabulous. I enjoyed the gin and tonic with elderflower syrup. The cheese selection was wonderful. My husband had the steak, which was better than my fish. The chocolate cake was decadent. Great meal! My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here last night and the food and service were wonderful. My wife has the scallops and u had the ribeye, both on the specials menu. The scallops were cooked perfectly. The reduction over the steak was amazing as well. Food was really good, service was great! Missed our reservations at another restaurant so we dropped in to grab a seat at the bar for dinner. The main dinning area seemed to be quite empty but we later discovered there was a large dinner/business party in another section. The bartender made sure we could get a food order in before the party had their service. Two perfectly plated entrees of grouper appeared. Only problem...it wasn't what we ordered. My coworker and I had requested the special...blackened snapper over lobster and squash risotto. The bartender and another server were completely apologetic even though we hardly made a single complaint between the two of us. We were hungry and not picky eaters. The grouper was a second choice anyway and it looked great. We accepted the meal and less than 5 minutes later another server showed up with two sides of the lobster and squash risotto and an apology for the mix up. The dining room was perfect for Historic Savannah in Marshall House haunted hotel . Started with appetizers fried green tomatoes, with goat cheese, lump crabmeat and it was fabulous. Shrimp and grits was superb! The wait staff very courteous and knowledgeable. Manager was excellent and checked on our table frequently. The main course I had a special short rib, that was to die for accompanied with garlic mashed and Brussels sprouts. All was amazing and attention to detail with plating was a step above. I had heard such great things about this place. I was staying at the adjacent Marshall House while in Savannah on business, and sat at the bar to have dinner. Food was meh, had the shrimp Caesar salad pizza. And service was also meh. Bartender was clearly overwhelmed, and got busy making craft cocktails. Never even noticed that I didn't care for my entree. Would have had dessert but after my less than half eaten entree sat in front of me for half an hour, I just ordered another glass of wine to go. We did some research on where to go and were able to get a last minute (but late - 9 PM) reservation at 45 Bistro and it turned out to be the best meal we've had in a while! Our server (Steve) was great and the food was outstanding. He got the escargot app and the aged 16 oz ribeye special entree, and I got the bento box. It was all incredible. I can't say enough about the food, and the ambiance was wonderful for a date night. Highly recommend. We will be back! read more
