I've been here once so I'll wait to give that 5th star after they wow me a second time! But, so far so great! The atmosphere is lovely. It's a warm, cozy inviting atmosphere filled with people enjoying a cocktail. No overly loud music or shouting customers. You feel like a sophisticated customer enjoying a nice evening. The cocktail menu is solid and bartenders are knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. I was here on a Friday night at 8:30 and service was moving along like a well oiled machine. I probably wouldn't make the drive out there just for a drink, but any time I head to the Alamo for a movie I'll definitely stop by for a cocktail! read more

This gem of a bar makes one of my favorite cocktails in this city full of great cocktails. The Paloma. A deceptively simple drink who's deliciousness varies greatly. However, every single Paloma I've had at 400 Rabbits has been on point. The bar itself is a looker. Fairly swanky on the inside with a couple of booths and cocktail tables and an eye-catching black interior. The patio is large and has tvs. Pretty sure they are dog friendly as well. Overall, this is a great place to stop before or after a movie, or make a trip for 400 Rabbits itself. read more

We love coming here for beverages and dinner or apps! We always sit on the patio and we know it's a smoking area - YUCK! But, do your employees have to take breaks in this area and smoke like chimneys?!? I'm not a fan of tequila...mostly b/c I end upon the floor after a night of drinking it. I am however a fan of 400 Rabbits. I think it's a great place to grab a drink b4 a movie, or just a place to go and hang out. I went for the first time just to have a drink and check it out. I enjoyed the service and drinks. I was surprised to see there were no children in the bar area. I was concerned since it's attached to Alamo. PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!! I've been a big fan and frequent customer of Alamo for pretty much my entire life, but my experience tonight at 400 Rabbits was absolutely horrible. I assume they are managed and operated by Alamo given that they share a menu. We came here for the Geeks Who Drink trivia, which was pretty much the only part of the experience that went as expected (though a tad slow). We arrived at around 7:45 and ordered some drinks (a cocktail, a soda, and a water). The water was dropped off about 10 minutes later and the cocktail and soda a good 10-20 after that. The moscow mule was very watery and had no noticeable alcohol. It just tasted like very watered down ginger beer. The waitress was friendly enough, but seemed extremely over burdened and scatter brained. I think she was the only waitress for the entire bar which was crowded due to trivia. We ordered our food around 8:20 and I don't think we got it until 9:20 or so. We got a burger, chicken strips, and a chicken quinoa salad. Doesn't seem too complicated. The chicken quinoa salad looked like it'd already been half eaten and had no noticeable chicken in it. They did give us a side of chicken quickly after my fiancé showed it to them. Alamo's food is never particularly amazing, but it was definitely lower quality tonight. The waitress was definitely aware of the bad service but didn't offer any sort of remedy. TMI, but my fiancé is currently in the bathroom dealing with the repercussions of subpar food. Extremely disappointed in this place and the Slaughter Alamo as a whole. A lot of reviews recommend it just as a bar, but I can't recommend it for that either as I don't think I was actually given alcohol. read more

A nice black room with jazz music made for a laid back atmosphere. Nice waiting room for the Alamo Drafthouse. They have small menu which is fine because you end up eating more when you see a film. The waiter was really attentive. I do recommend the Tostada de Camarones - Grilled shrimp, fried corn tortilla, avocado, cabbage slaw, crema fresca. Also the Grilled Elotes - Corn on the cob, mayo, queso cotija, lime, chili. I wasn't a big fan of the Chili Lime Cerveza Nuts because I can't handle spicy and my friend loved them a lot. The place is worth checking out. If I want to see a film again, I wouldn't mind stopping in for a bit. read more

Was not all that impressed with this place. Seemed a little too pretentious for my taste. All of their drinks on the menu are trying to be too exotic. The four of us ordered some and all of them tasted pretty terrible. They don't even have normal beers on tap but these odd ball brews that also tasted not so great. We also ordered the chorizo queso dip which with their tortilla chips was an overloaded sodium bomb nightmare. Each bite was like taking a gulp of seawater. Our waitress was really sweet and accommodating but their menu stuff was awful. If they just made this place a regular sportsbar style restaurant I think it would do much better. For a Saturday afternoon the place was completely dead. Most of the people coming and leaving the theater didn't even glance over at this place. Too bad because it's a great location with a good demographic in Circle C. Can't recommend this place. read more

The service at 400 Rabbits sucked. A few things the Drafthouse should consider before opening a "bar/restaurant" at their establishment: 1. Hire a bartender with personality. The female bartender at 400 Rabbits who waited on us was the most boring person I've encountered in 10+ years. 2. DO NOT make the patrons at 400 Rabbits wait on the guests at the multiple movie theaters to get their food. We waited 20 minutes to get a queso (HELLO--THIS IS TEXAS!!!!! Queso should not take longer than 5 minutes!!!!!) and also a pumpkin seed dip which tasted like shit. This was incredibly dissapointing--not to mention that afterwards we ordered the meatballs which we waited another 20 minutes on--and no one even apologized or acknowledged the ridiculous wait time. STEP IT UP DRAFTHOUSE. We are long time customers who will never visit 400 Rabbits again and Alamo will be number 4 or 5 on the list when looking for movies. read more

I was really happy to see the new addition of 400 Rabbits to the Alamo, especially because my group and I had a considerable amount of time to kill before our movie, and there aren't that many other places to go elsewhere around here to kill time. Our server was really nice and attentive, and gave us great drink recommendations. I had a Paloma (silver tequila, grapefruit soda, and salt) which was very refreshing, followed by a French 75 (gin, lemon, sugar, and champagne). While I normally don't enjoy the taste of gin, I actually really liked this drink. In fact, everyone at the table ooh-ed and ahh-ed after tasting it. I really appreciated the fact that our waiter informed us that we could order off the Alamo menu since our group didn't have the most adventurous eaters. We ended up splitting the nachos, and everyone was happy. Another plus was that our waiter kept track of our movie time, so we were right on time to pick out our seats. While I can't say that I would go out of my way on non-movie seeing nights to grab a drink, I definitely enjoy the fact that it's there when I do. read more

I love the chicharrons! I love the patio! I love that I can come here for brunch and there's not a wait. I love that they don't serve Wycliff for their mimosas. I don't love that there aren't any purse hooks along the bar or under the tables, or in the theater. I went to meet a friend here the other night... when I go to movies I never see anyone there so I just assumed it would be empty. Anyway it was packed. I had to sit outside and they had these like folding chairs for us to sit on... "rabbit-sized" is all that comes to mind. I'm over six feet... I swear the chair they gave me would have made a child look big. Drinks were fine, but silly prices for suburban Texas. Like... I think my drink (a double) was $14, go over to Backspin or or NXNW or like anywhere else in the area the same drink is like $8. read more

I've been to 400 Rabbits for an event, where I got to sample the delicious food. But I went last weekend as a precursor to a movie, and enjoyed a combo tequila/mescal flight. My server was awesome, explaining to me the different processes for all three almost-shots. He clearly knew his stuff. The deck is airy and comfortable, the interior dark and cozy, were it not for a sub-zero setting on the AC. Fun place to hang, especially now that assigned seating has banished the line at Alamo. Drab presentation of good quality drinks. Bar is unimaginatively dull. Bar staff are often posted missing. Decent selection of booze but comes at a price = ambiance / none , cost is a bit pricey and bar staff do not alert you to cost before pour. There's just something about being in a movie theater that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, or could it be the happy hour drink specials? A bit of both most likely. This bar inside the Alamo Slaughter is a great alternative to the always packed Friday happy hour bar scenes around town, plus pretty darn perfect spot to wait for your movie to begin seating. The atmosphere is speakeasy cool, and if you sit at the right table, you can watch the crazy classic films showing in the theater lobby. The happy hour specials are great, and a new addition to the menu, Elotes (Mexican grilled corn) is superb. Just bring your dental floss. read more

After seeing quite a few movies at Alamo Slaughter, I finally stopped by to visit 400 Rabbits. I will visit this place regularly. Good variety of beers. They specialize in Tequila and Mezcal. The parking lot was packed, and I almost drove on past, but I'm glad I stopped. There were not many in the bar, and I enjoyed chatting with the bartender. I recommend 400 Rabbits! read more

Serves it's purpose of being a bar you can go to while you kill some time before your movie at the Alamo starts. Happy hour was average, although I'll take happy hour over no happy hour any day or time. I can see why some people would enjoy the food, so I won't judge anyone on that, but it was a little too processed and underwhelming for me. The queso dip isn't worth more than the happy hour price, so I'd avoid it otherwise. The salad was decent but was probably the smallest I've seen in a long time. Avocado was fresh though, so I'll give them credit for that. read more

The drinks here are weeeeak, based on both the flattest and most expensive moscow mule I've had in town. But the service in the bar is outrageously good. They remind you of how long you have until seating begins for your film, and our gregarious waiter was the high point of an otherwise not so great experience inside the theater itself. Love the atmosphere but we have tried various mixed drinks at various times and they were all terrible. Tonight we tried a "lemon drop" which is gin, honey and lemon, also a dark rum, grenadine, lime punch...both tasted exactly alike...like water and lots of lime. If you don't drink, don't bother eating here. It is easy to pick a better restaurant in the area, there are a number of them.

The drinks are kind of pricey, but are worth it (their vodka tonic knocked my socks off). The atmosphere is nice; great vintage styled furniture. read more

Neat little place with a great drink selection!! Good idea to go and hang out before the movie starts. I had some El Diablos, they were $5 on happy hour and my date had a $2 beer. I enjoyed it very much and although the waitress was very nice and sweet, she was a little hard to track down when we needed the check. But I feel as though that isn't always the case. Ok, In some ways I am not eager to post negative reviews....However, in South Austin we do deserve a bit better here. My wife and I have been to 400 Rabbits on two separate occasions and have found service to be indifferent and the food and beverage selection to be "unremarkable".... While the theory of having a place to hang out and eat and drink before a movie (or after) is a great one.....and we've enjoyed that experience at iPic in the Domain.....it just hasn't "cut it" for us at the new Alamo Draft House. I'm not sure to what I might attribute the indifferent customer service - but we couldn't really ever identify anyone who might have been a manager and noted that the wait staff was more engaged in chatting each other up than they ever were in servicing patrons (or for that matter, cleaning the tables between patrons). Thus, we had to go to the bar for drinks and for food....while watching and wondering exactly what the wait staff was doing. I doubt that we will be back any time soon, given the fact that we've tried it twice with NO success. read more

We just absolutely love this place especially for happy hour! What a great menu and low prices. $3 drafts and good drafts too and specially low priced appetizers. Our favorites are the elotes (corn dish) and the queso dip...YUM!!!!!!!! The patio outside is where it's at and they always have the misters on except once but we asked and they obliged. There is also a big screen TV out there....great for watching sports, etc. The other night we met some friends there and it just so happen to be "Geeks who Drink" trivia night - so fun! read more

We like this place well enough for the happy hour which includes $3 pints of beer and and chips and queso for $5.50. The queso is quite tasty BUT the chips were a bit stale the last time we went. I've been going back to 400 Rabbits off and on over the year and it's growing more and more on me. Maybe it's just because it's convenient to the theater. Lights are still too bright but the indoor area has a calm, classy feel to it. The drinks are pretty classy too, although the service is more casual and the workers often seem rushed. A couple times it has taken excessively long to deliver our drinks and we had to pay immediately upon getting them to make our movie. Hmm... that was a problem I noted in my first review. Fortunately you can take your drinks straight from the bar to the theater so it wasn't that bad I guess. read more
