I really like this place. I met Stuart the owner on one of his trips to my doctor's office, as he does pick up/delivery there. He is such a nice guy and chats for a bit before he leaves the office. I never used his services as we never have clothes to dry clean. My fiancé started to work at a different hospital a few times a month and they require business attire. So I told him that We should start using them, he was going elsewhere. It's been a good experience. On Thursday (2 days ago), at 10am i realized that i never had my belt stitched for my wedding dress and I was having a panic attack! I called them because I know Stuart's wife is the tailor there (I'm sorry! I feel terrible for not remembering her name!) I told them I pretty much needed it by 130 as we were heading out of town for our wedding. She worked on it and had it done way before 1:30! She did such an amazing job with my wedding belt, it was exactly what I had in mind. It was perfect! I'm so thankful she was able to squeeze this in for me! Experience counts and they have it! They got Jagermeister stains out of my chiffon and silk white dress from a holiday party two years ago, just amazing. I was so happy that I brought in a bunch of expensive pants, wool jackets and dresses that just needed a hem or had a rip, needed a stitch or had some stain....they fixed and cleaned them all! The prices were really good and service was personal. Next time I see a designer blouse on sale because it has a small hole or nice pants that don't quite fit, I'm buying them and bringing them here to fix them up good as new again. I have never had anything dry cleaned before so I did a lot of research looking for the best and I can say that I found them. I needed my wedding dress cleaned and it needed to be taken in as I had lost weight. From the very beginning, they were so nice and you can tell they care about there customers. The worst people I've ever had the misfortune of working for. I have never felt so worthless as a person until I met Stu and Van. They claim to care about their employees but constantly put us down whenever we weren't fast enough or able to catch on to something quickly enough. We'd also end up hearing about them making fun of us too when they thought we couldn't hear them. They called one girl a welfare queen because she was pregnant with her third child, made fun of another girl's weight, said a girl who wore a tank top in the middle of summer deserved to be burned by one of the machines for "wearing nothing," and would say another girl was retarded because she had problems focusing even though I think she was deaf or something. These girls work hard only for them to say we were lazy and stupid. They'd yell at us to do something one way then get mad a few days later when they'd want us to do it differently. There was no consistency in what they taught us. I've lost count of how many times customers have been upset because they lost something. They also called a customer an idiot after he left because he kept bringing in an old leather coat to be cleaned. They said another lady was a bitch for wanting to give a bad review after they lost her purse. I heard Stu's twin brother Steve has a dry cleaning business up in Orland. Maybe you'd have better luck there. read more

We were recommended to this place by a wedding designer. I took my daughters prom dress in on a Thursday and was told we could pick it up on Tuesday. At 3:30 on Tuesday we arrived and was told the dress was not ready and would be ready in an hour. We killed time and got there at 5 (store closes at six). Again, the dress was not ready. They acutally had just started to work on it when we got there at 3:30! At 5:45 the dress was still not ready, we couldn't even put it in the bag due to the cleaning treatments. So we have a "clean" dress and have to put it in a car with out protection, doesn't make sense! The stains were STILL there! The man didn't even offer us a discount or any type of apology for this very poor service. Never again! read more

Just moved in the area and needed to get alterations done to a few suits. I put the suits on and got measured in a matter of seconds. It felt like stood up straight and turned left to take a breath and they said I could change back into my clothes. I looked in the mirror, seemed right. I left and was told to return in four days. Kind of worried because I felt the measurements were too fast and that maybe the alterations would be off. I came back and picked up my things. I decided to take them home to try everything on to see how everything would look, shoes and all. The tailor is a genius, I've never been fitted so perfectly. We are talking about a very gifted woman here who knows her stuff!! My clothing fits perfectly and no one could possible expect that alterations occurred. Almost fell over in receiving the bill. Stu and Van were fabulous cleaners (three generations) in the Bay Area, both in Berkeley and Oakland. I went to them there, and was always very satisfied with their work, as well as their wonderful customer service. When I discovered they had "retired" to Chico, and had opened here, I was extremely excited to find this quality of cleaning and finishing after making a move back to town. I have had many alterations done by Van, and have been nothing but happy with her meticulous work. They have done me favors by getting some items cleaned and available in one day, as well as cleaning my down comforters. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! They are the nicest people with the biggest hearts, as well as the most competent cleaners in Chico....we are lucky to have them here. read more

My prom was Saturday of last week. Upon waking up around 2:50PM, I found my mom completely distraught. She was absolutely freaking out that my prom dress had a wrinkle or two in it and that every dry cleaner was going to be closing in 10 minutes. My mom's friend called 3rd Generation Cleaners and to our surprise, they offered to stay open an extra 30 minutes to steam my dress. They worked fast and the dress came out absolutely perfect! I dropped off my husband's jacket to have them replace the zipper. I dropped it off on a Monday they told me it would be $25 and it would be ready by Saturday by 1. So on Saturday I go in at 11:30 to check to see if was done because I had to leave town and couldn't pick it up at 1. The jacket had not been done yet. So i then had to go back on Monday to pick it up first thing when they opened because my husband needed his jacket that day. My husband went to pick it up and the zipper was put on backwards. They said that they rushed to put it on so that is why it was put on wrong and could we pick it up Tuesday, my husband told them he needed his jacket that day. I then went to pick it up at 3. The work was sloppy. It was hard to tell the new seems from the old seems and long strings were left on it. She rung me up and she told me it was now $30 that she discounted it from $35. I told her that i was told that it would be $25 to have the zipper put on and she told me it was more because of the lining of the jacket. So i paid $25 for sloppy late work and they don't give correct pricing. I am a very dissatisfied customer and would not recommend them. read more

My husband and I have been getting our clothes cleaned and altered here for at least three years and will never go anywhere else. Most recently, I had my wedding dress resized here and Van did a phenomenal job! David's Bridal quoted me $90 (without tax and surcharges) just to alter my dress a couple inches at the zipper and 3rd Generation did it for $35!!!!!! The work was impeccable and of course it fit like a dream. I'm really regretting that I didn't come to Van to get it hemmed, as David's charged me $240 for hemming, thing in the sleeves, and adding a bustle, and Van said she would have charged me half that! After the wedding, I also brought the dress and my white satin heels (they were filthy!) to be cleaned. The hem of the dress had about a cup of dirt and at least a half of a tree's worth of dead leaves, and they both came out in pristine condition (hey, we had a good time). My recommendation is trust Van and her team to do an excellent job for anything you need altered or cleaned! read more

Customer for several years here....BUT now, all through with this place. My wife took a beautiful dress in to be cleaned (just to freshen it up, no stains YET) She picked it up and it had several black streaks on it in various areas. She immediately drove back & asked them to fix it. Upon returning 2 days later....some of the streaks were still very visible. She left it there & asked for it to be redone. She goes back again & it was better, but still visible in a few areas. She decided that she was going to have to live with it, as these clowns were never going to get it right. She will try somewhere else to see if the dress can be saved, BUT we will never return to this place, where they MADE the marks and after 3 attempts could not solve the problem that THEY made. read more

I was extremely disappointed in the customer service at this Dry Cleaners and do not recommend them to anyone. They shrunk my clothes and refused to pay me the cost of replacing them, offering me the "depreciated cost" or the amount of replacement in the form of a credit. They were rude, aggressive, and untruthful when I attempted to resolve the situation through the BBB. They did not follow through on the proposed resolution to the problem they said they would honor. I recommend esplanade cleaners or the drive through cleaners (which has a discount on Tuesdays) instead. read more

This business is the worst in Chico. I've lived here for over 20 years and have never been treated so badly. They have no idea what customer service is. I took a pair of pants in to be cleaned. They "lost" the pants, and then proceeded to lie to me for 3 weeks about how they would compensate me. It took me going to the store multiple times and I still had to get an answer about my pants on my own. The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I was treated like a criminal by Stu the owner, and his wife. All over a pair of pants that just disappeared in his shop. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. They lost my shirt, have overcharged me more than once and have gotten pen marks on my jacket. They said the pen was in my jacket and that's why it stained and there were other clothes that got stained because if it. I know that's bull s**** because I always check my pockets before giving them anything and I never carry a red pen in my jacket pocket. Save your money and your clothes!! I took my insulated draperies here, and they did a really good job on them. I would give them 5 stars, except that their prices were a bit high -- I ended up paying about $60 per pair of drapes, because of the "per pleat" price. They steam pressed the pleats on my first pair of drapes, which I found to be too stiff -- vertical lines like an accordion on my drapes, so then I ran them through the dryer and pressed them myself to get the pleats out. Next round, I asked to skip the steam pressing of the pleats, but to fan fold them (think toy fan that kids make out of paper). They steam pressed them flat, but forgot to fan fold them, so the second round hung a bit awkwardly. Third round they got right -- clean, odor free, with just enough fan folding to hang well. They charged me $48 for the third round, which I think is appropriate, given that I didn't get the steam pressing of the pleats. I think the second round should have been less as well for the same reason, but they charged me as much as for the first round. If you have special instructions, make sure they right it down on the ticket, and I suggest you check it in the store and send it back if it's not done right. Also, ask them to charge less if you decide not to get steam pressed pleats on your drapes (which I recommend), and maybe they will, as they did with my third pair. read more
