A solid spot that offers a variety of different kinds of sushi. We ordered the Pocket monsters, Naruto set with spicy tuna cut roll and shrimp tempura hand roll, and the lobster dynamite. First off the pocket monsters is an appetizer that is snow crab, shrimp, and cream cheese wrapped in soy paper and deep fried. This was definitely a tasty dish. You taste the cream cheese with the shellfishes really well. A lot of places markets this as cream cheese wontons, but pocket monsters is a nice and unique name. My main dish was the Naruto set which include hand roll, cut roll, and 3 sushi pieces (salmon, tuna, and albacore). This is a nice variety set that's sure to satisfy people that want to try different things. It was also pretty tasty and delicious. Definitely a filling set. Lastly the lobster dynamite. One of my favorite places in Long Beach for sushi. Always fresh and delicious and good customer service. The sexy girl is my favorite rolls, has mango and jalapeños and is so good! Worst sushi I've ever had. The tuna is super low quality, the tempura shrimp is from the frozen section of Costco, and they udon noodles are the cheap ones you buy from the refrigerator section at the grocery store. Sushi was good. Not as fresh as I expected. The place was pretty empty for a Friday night but it still took a very long time for a waiter to approach us. Once we ordered, we started noticing the people at the sushi bar. They were drinking and having a great time but then we noticed that one of the cooks was also drinking and having a great time. Maybe he forgot he was working but he kept taking shots and drinking while he was making the sushi!!!!! He even had a pitcher of beer right next to him. They did have a lot of to go orders. The salmon slices were too thin and overcooked thus too dry. On top of execution issues, the salmon portion was more suited for an appetizer. The miso soup is also a bit on the salty side. The only saving grace is the tempura, salad/dressing and friendly service. IMO, they need to consult a professional Japanese chief. read more

This place is a yes. We just needed a quick bite for lunch.. and we ordered 2 of the combo rolls (I can't recall it, but it was a variety sampler). Goodness- the creativity, the flavor--- just simply delish. It's a small place, but the crowds started to come in just around 4. The only thing I'd recommend is either get the Soju straight up or a plum wine. The $12 pineapple cocktail was disappointing- tasted like juice (really good), but lots of ice and gone in minutes. I think they loaded with juice and not Soju - & for $12 bucks that was a Miss. Other than that, the hostess checked on us frequently and was very sweet and accommodating. One of the best Japanese restaurants I've had since I moved here in California, and for the price it was very reasonable. Quality ingredients, especially how fresh the sashimis are. Service is very good to, we didn't have to wait too long even though the place was not that big it felt very homey, it was a twist of Thai and Japanese cuisine but mainly focuses on Japanese dishes. This is by far my FAVORITE sushi spot in Long Beach! Even better, their happy hour has some of the best sushi / drink deals I've seen. $17 for a pitcher of beer and five apps / rolls for $50?? It doesn't get any better. Off their HH menu, I've tried their baked mussels, the MR roll, and 911 roll. All the fish tastes fresh and pretty decent quality. The sushi rice is nice and warm. First time having sushi at this spot and it definitely hits the spots. The albacore on the beach was delicious and went well with the American dragon roll. The chicken satay was tender and went well with the peanut sauce that is came with. I definitely would recommend the tsunami roll if you like that raw fish topping on your roll. I did a to go order but as I walked in I was greeted by the staff. Noise level is average, parking can be hard because they do share a lot with wing stop, Starbucks, and a bar. We decided to sit at the bar and watch all the action. Andrew was the chef making our sushi and he was really great! This is my new sushi place in LB. The staff here was spectacular. We mentioned it was my daughters birthday and the waitress Sam was so kind and sweet and doted on her. We showed them my 11yos favorite sushi roll from our sushi spot back home and they figured which of their rolls was most similar. Our second waitress brought out ice cream with a candle and a birthday song and everyone in the restaurant clapped and sang. My daughter almost cried with surprise. The food was great. This is the my first time here, it's my wife all time FAVORITE place for sushi, but I finally remembered to take some pics so I could post my review. This place NEVER disappoints and i love their Happy Tummy Hours (3-7 all week long), in my opinion this is a great deal. We are always nice and stuffed when we leave. The service is one-point, very polite, informative and offers suggestions (if your like me, I never can make my last minute decision, especially when everything looks so darn good. They do offer more than sushi, I've watched the servers pass by with what looks kinda like bento boxes/combos but I've always only had the sushi. Sushi is always fresh, they are willing to alter to taste (spice wise) and make to your liking. I highly recommend this place. Not impressed. Chose this spot based on Yelp reviews but I'm super surprised by the high ratings. The place is quaint and crowded enough to seem likes it's popular. We waited forever for someone to seat us at an open table. Once seated, we again waited awhile for someone to greet us. The sushi was actually pretty good but we just couldn't get our server to help us. We ended up catching a young (guy) server who was very helpful and pleasant so we just kept asking him for things until we left. We'll try a different sushi place next time in town. read more

Living a couple minutes away from this bomb sushi spot is a blessing and a curse. I love it and I always want it. Allll their rolls taste amazing!!! Good variety of rolls to choose from, but I find that there aren't as many choices for raw rolls. I usually order 2 rolls and some nigiri. This is bold because I never finish the rolls, lol. My favs are the Hokkaido scallop, salmon, and octopus nigiri. The Hokkaido scallops come with a little lemon and fresh wasabi on top and taste perfect with a little soy sauce. Everything always tastes fresh and on point. I've only dined in once, but service was good and it wasn't too hectic. Definitely a smaller, more intimate space. This sushi place is good; however did not meet my expectations as I was hoping for something very special but not rolls were pretty decent. I went during Happy Hour and ordered the Jaws Special, Extra Crunchy Roll Atlantic Roll, Sexy Girl Roll, Tsunami Roll, Sumo Roll, and Autumn Roll. My personal favorite was the sumo roll.
