Overall, I had a great experience at this restaurant. I got the nine one one and volcano roll, along with spicy tuna hand roll and shishito peppers. The rolls are decent and the fish is good quality. I'm too lazy and forgetful to write reviews very often so I only do it when something really stands out. I've been ordering from 39 Degrees for quite awhile now and the food and service are always very good. The person who answers the phone is always polite and sounds genuinely pleased to take your order, which is nice. I don't get to eat from here often, but when I do I always give the name of the person who picks up my orders for me as I'm not able to do it on my own. The woman who took my order today remembered the name of the person that picks up my order and asked if she'd be picking up my order as usual. Caring enough about your customers to bother remembering something so seemingly insignificant is both very sweet and exceptional customer service. I wish more businesses operated more like this one, the world would be a better place. read more

They changed the recipe of their ikageso (fried squid) and tried other sushi spots elsewhere because of this! Recently, we returned because we can't resist the goodness of their rolls. We ordered ikageso and very surprised to find out that they switched them back to their original recipe! What an amazing surprise! We always appreciate the friendly service and amazing food. This is our favorite sushi spot in LB! We've come here faithfully for the past 3 years, it's THAT GOOD! We've never had a bad experience, everything is always so consistent, from the good food, the freshness of the fish, the service, even the pricing. We also love their happy hour menu! All the staff there is so friendly, it's genuinely always a pleasant dine in. They're also always so accommodating and put avocado on a side plate for me since my husband is allergic to it and I still want it with my sushi. We only had about an hour and got everything rather quickly. We had a beer with our selection that we shared. Came here 11/3 at around 10pm. Food is absolutely amazing, PS roll and Nine One One roll are so good. The PS roll is good if you'd like something basic, and the Nine One One roll is amazing for a sort of sweet and spicy flavor profile. Customer service is perfect, always checking in and asking if we needed anything else. The chefs and everyone there provided amazing service and a cozy atmosphere! This was the first time we ordered from 39 Degrees. The rolls were just as described: fresh, delicious and plenty for the price. We ordered three different rolls to have some variety. All were wrapped in rice paper since I'm allergic to seaweed. We ordered: - Crunchy - Atlantic - ShroomShroom The taste of all three was excellent. None were soggy and you were able to distinguish what they were supposed to be. We also liked that someone actually cared about preparing them by putting partitions between each roll so to not mix flavors. Really loved that. Unfortunately, the sauces all tasted the same - eel sauce. Even though the description mentioned that some were supposed to be different. But it didn't really matter much. The reason for 4/5 stars Parking.... Or the lack thereof. It's a huge issue. There is almost none. We picked up around 4:30pm and it was impossible to find anything. Yes, we understand they are in the beginning stages, yet not being able to get to this deliciousness is a problem. The inside, while picking up, looked ok to me. Nothing special. They also add chili oil to a lot of the rolls, making it spicy, which is so bizarre to me. Jaws was soggy & tasted like ground beef. I was so excited for the sexy girl roll because I love mango rolls, but you could barely taste the mango & it was sour ?? the sourness wasn't even from the mango. The extreme crunch roll really wasn't that crunchy. Atlantic Roll: It's the big juicy straight line of spicy mayo across the middle of the roll for me. Sushi was kind of dry and not fresh tasting but the server did give me a discount for that because he noticed I was dissatisfied and did accommodate me which was excellent customer service he even offered free ice cream. After hearing about 39 Degrees from a coworker, I had to try it. We were pleasantly surprised! It's located kinda awkwardly on the corner of Redondo Ave and 7th St, and you could easily drive right past. My mom isn't into sushi, and after convincing her to try this place, she still didn't have any! Instead, she tried the chicken teriyaki and LOVED it. We arrived just in time for Happy Hour, but a lot of the rolls on their HH menu are tempura and have sauces. Due to my dietary needs, I just stuck to my usuals that I know are safe. I tried a couple different hand rolls, and the veggie roll, and all were delicious and fresh. The service was great, the restaurant was nice and clean, and by 6pm they were on a wait. Really good sushi spot in Long Beach. I had the Sumo Roll and the Nine One One Roll with spicy mayo rather than Habanero mayo. I preferred the Sumo to the Nine One One, but they were both very good. My husband had the chicken teriyaki entree with an egg roll. He enjoyed his meal. The inside has a good amount of seating, but I'm sure there would be a wait during the evening hours because it's not a huge place. As a note, there is a private parking lot, but it is shared with a few other businesses. When we arrived around 4:30 pm on a Wednesday, there was only 1 spot available. When we left there were multiple cars waiting for parking spots. I can't imagine what a hassle it would be to find a spot later in the evening or on weekends.
