I went to this restaurant to attend a friend's private party in a private room. The private room was very nice and the staff was very attentive to the guests. The appetizers of scallops wrapped in bacon and lamb chops were great, although a lamb chop is an awkward snack. The food flavors were overall delicious. Although our menu was not as extensive as the main restaurant, I had an amazing grilled piece of swordfish over a lobster risotto. Their wine and beer selection was also okay, but a little on the pricey side. Overall, service was great, but slightly on the pricey side. The staff was also very tolerable since the party included many children that were running around with balloons upstairs and playing. They didn't seem to mind a bit. read more

Since I work about five minutes away, this is one of the "go-to" lunch places when vendors come into town to take us out. I haven't had a disappointing meal there yet. While lobster mac & cheese is a bit dated and cliched at this point, there is no denying the satisfying indulgence that comes from it. My favorite dish maybe the miso sake-glazed salmon with sesame rice cake. The seafood casserole is also excellent. The nice part about 3 is that you can go there with a wide range of people and everyone can find SOMETHING on the menu, but you do't feel like you're in an Applebee's. The interior is very hip and contemporary, but not cold. read more

Soooo yummy! We went here for dinner last night and we're very impressed. Tuna tartare app was so delicious and I never saw my date's clam chowder as he demolished it. He said it was good but average and mostly cream. For my meal, I had the lobster risotto and tomato tower salad. The risotto was beyond amazing- chunks of fresh sweet lobster. The greens with the tomato were covered with approximately 3 cups of dressing which ruined them but the tomato and mozz were good. My date got the fried scallops which seemed small for the price but he liked them. Drinks were good but pricey- highly recommend the raspberry mojito! It was $90+ for our meal and drinks but it was a special occasion so worth it. You could definitely eat cheaper or more expensive here! read more

This is my second time visiting 3. Both times have been very good. This last time I took my mother who is from a very small town and a lot of the things on the menu were foreign to her and she needs a lot of information due to dietary needs. Our waitress was very helpful in trying to help her select what she would like and what she could have. My mother got the Lobster Mac&Cheese. She said it was to die for. The bread basket is very nice as well. I believe the staff said they are all made in house, even better. 3 is very tastefully decorated and very comfortable for both lunch and dinner. It is also extremely clean everywhere I went, including the bathroom. The staff is very friendly and professional. I would highly recommend this place!!! read more

Three is always a great place to eat and dine. They are busy every night. Staff always well trained and friendly. I manage a business and they must spend a great deal of time refining their business,. I have eaten at 3 over 15 times and never have been disappointed with food, service or atmosphere. I live in Boston but this place is worth the hike to the burbs. The atmosphere is sleek with dark wood and a very cool back lighted bar. Service is excellent. Our server was prompt but not overly intrusive. Even on a very busy night, she was always available. The food the great. The lobster Mac and Cheese is off the charts good. Appetizers ordered before 6PM are 1/2 price. The calamari is excellent. Try the Nachos. They are served on a large plate surrounded by four smaller bowls with sour cream, guacamole, chili and tomatoes. The grilled pizza was good but the sauce was bit sweet for my taste. Desserts will feed a small nation. We ordered two for a table of seven and did not come close to finishing. 3 is easy to find just of of Rte 495. with ample parking right behind the restaurant. I have to say this place has really friendly and professional staff and a very nice atmosphere. Unfortunately the food (entrees) was not on par with the service, atmosphere or price. With a table of 5 adults they brought out salad with dressing on it when specifically requested it to be withheld - not a big deal at all - but a slip up you wouldn't expect to see here. The appetizers were delicious, I particularly enjoyed the egg-rolls with Southwestern flair. My problem is this - it's called a "Steakhouse" and one of their "recommended" or "signature" dishes which was the 14oz New York Strip was pretty much inedible. I asked for medium rare and it came out over-cooked with charred edges, dry as toast and without flavor. The mashed potatoes that came alongside were dry, crumbly and tasteless as well. The vegetables paired were delicious. I was thinking about ordering the Bolognese Pasta or spicy fish tacos but I figured hey, it's a steakhouse and it's recommended. Big mistake. Maybe this was an off night? It was pretty crummy food. The dessert I ordered was a banana split... now I know this isn't "Friendly's" but I expected something a little bit more than a cup of vanilla ice-cream, a puff of whipped cream, 4 split walnuts and like 3-4 little pieces of banana with a faint hint of butterscotch drizzle...supremely disappointing. read more

3 is the "3rd in a trilogy of restaurants' hence the name. It is among an elite group of upscale establishments in Franklin. Located less than half mile of 495 getting there is a snap with ample parking. When you enter you are immediately greeted by wonderful hosts. The decor is trendy without being over the top. Weekend nights it can get crowded but with mostly older patrons. I don't mind a drink at the bar so this is not an issue for me. The menu is available on their website and i recommend taking a glance in advance. It is a little limited still having enough choices you should be able to find something you like. The service has been top notch, be prepared to get a quick visit from the manager making sure you are completely happy. They do offer banquets services on the second floor. Also on the 2nd level is another small bar and tables to accommodate customers when it gets busy. My only issue with this level is it is outdated and the atmosphere is definitely lacking. The prices are in line with what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. It is a great place to dine for both lunch & dinner. The dress code is casual, has a great mix of diners and good place to hang out and enjoy friends and family. I would recommend 3 for a close experience of city dinning without the city hassle. read more

Went last night to celebrate my girlfriends engagement. I have been here a few times and really liked it. OMG last night was a disaster: One of the girls got the pork chops and it was so tough and dry she couldn't chew it ! Another girl ordered the haddock , and it was so bad it smelled like bleach. She sent it back a got a mediocre chicken parm. I got the short ribs which was good , but couldn't eat the spinach it was so salty, the risotto was just ok. We all ordered a cappichino and they couldn't make it ..no on knew how. That is what they said. Also they no longer put cloth table cloths on the table., and no place mats! I eat alone at home most nights and ALWAYS us a place mat. They said that they are trying to attract a different crowd. Fine, put hot dogs and FF on the menu and lower the prices. I had lunch here the other day. I was pleasantly surprised to find this chic restaurant in the middle of suburbia. One turn off, was that there was kind of a musty smell in the restaurant (almost as if there was a flood recently? it smells like the basement in my parents house - blah!). Anyway, the smell was not overpowering, and did not distract from the lunch. We had the asian lettuce wraps. These were tasty - but they were do it yourself wraps. I kind of wish they had rolled them for us, as I am a lazy person. These wraps had carrots, sprouts, chicken, peanuts, pineapple. Very yummy! After I got sick of making wraps, I just munched on the sprouts. Nice and crunchy. For my main course I had the seafood casserole. This was tasty, but super heavy. I only had half of the casserole part (which seemed to be drenched in butter). Mashed potatoes were bland. I didnt really touch the salad. Oh wait why am I fan again? There was lots of seafood in the casserole (shrimp, haddock, and scallops). Seafood was cooked perfectly. My dining companions loved their meals (miso salmon, and chicken salad sandwich). For dessert we split the berry cobbler - this was good, but the top portion could have been a bit more crunchy. Would definitely like to return. read more

While it's nice to see a non-chain restaurant develop a following in my area, I must admit that 3 misses the mark when it comes to value. My feeling when entering 3 is "this is what not your average joe's wants to be." Modern decor, fairly sleek but not classy, it's a pretty comfortable spot with a nice bar. The drinks, like mostly everything else at 3, are expensive. Pretty average drinks in the $10 range. The food here is pretty good. The two times I have been, I did what I suggest all other patrons do at 3: split some apps and order half portion entrees. It is by far the best value you can get. My first trip here I split the calamari (nothing special, but solid) and a half order of lobster mac and cheese (the gf loved it, I thought it was again, solid but nothing special) and a burger (on Mondays they have $5 burgers - certainly worth the trip). My second trip I split the chicken satay (quite nice, actually) and a half order of jambalaya (spicy for sure but it suited me nicely - though I am a fan of very spicy food) and chocolate cream pie (average). Unfortunately, I get the feeling that 3 wants to be more than it is...charging between $22-30 for entree's here is frankly, ludicrous. There are countless places in Providence, Boston and similarly themed restaurants in the area I would spend $100 (for that's what drinks, split an app, 2 entrees and desert will get you here -- not including tax & tip and if you are frugal) before considering 3. It's not a bad place by any means...just simply not worth it. read more

Went on a Sunday night around 8:00 PM. They were still open for another hour, but the place seemed to be in shut down mode. Servers disappeared for long stretches of time, probably getting other areas of the restaurant ready for closing. Got two appetizers to snack on and share. I went with the nachos and jalapeno poppers. Others at the table went with sliders, sandwiches and pasta. No complaints about the food, though the prices were a little prohibitive. So yummy. Unexpected in the burbs. Great flavors. Homemade creations. This is something I would expect in boston. They make homemade corn muffins with this honey-cinnamon infused butter to go with. Splendid compliment to each other. They also have homemade flatbread. I had the panchetta crusted scallops and shrimp over parmesan risotto. The scallops were fantastic. The shrimp was just a little over cooked but the flavor made up for it. Really was not expecting such a great meal. Our server was great...even before he comp'd us because "dinner was a little late and he took too long bringing us our check." He was knowledgable and super attentive. The price was high, but...you pay good for good homemade meals. If I wanted something out of a box, I would hit Fridays or Applebees. You are definitely paying for what you get here! read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Franklin. It's definitely on the pricier side so it's more for special occasions, but whenever I can convince my family we come here. We've had a few great experiences here, but our dinner on Friday night left me with a bad taste in my mouth. At first our server was extremely attentive but about 3/4 of the way through she seemed to disappear... I felt trapped. When the bill did come we noticed they'd charged us for the kids' drinks. Apparently their lemonade had been hand squeezed and therefore did not qualify, to which I said, "You should have said something..." Who orders their kid a $6 meal and a $2.50 drink? Ten minutes later she came back with an adjusted bill, thankfully. All in all I like 3, but I probably won't be going back for a while. Great restaurant, service is always great (always!!) and love the menu, always something a little outside the box to try. Last night i went for dinner with my wife and kids, we got the chefs plate for an appetizer.....totally kicked ass, goat cheese especially, really really good. Craving Steak and i have been in before and loved the Sirloin but its off the menu so i tried the flat iron, suggested med. rare by the server....... no joke, the BEST plate of food i have had in a while, crazy good. Anyway, for a restaurant in the burbs this place is definitely worth the trip. Real good combination of atmosphere, service and unique menu. I am dead serious that the Flat Iron was freakishly good. Disappointed. We hadn't visited 3 in quite some time and I was craving two to their staple items; bread basket of corn bread/cheese "crisps" served with cinnamon butter and the tuna tartar appetizer. The new bread basket? Plain old french bread and butter...some plain olive oil as an option too. The tuna tartar? Smaller in size and only made up of lackluster tuna and avocado. Some itty bitty chopped up carrots in the dressing. no cucumber wrap, no tomato. Sigh. On to the entrees. I had high hopes for the Steak Tip Wedge Salad, but again was disappointed. Steak was cooked to perfection...but then slathered in some bbq/steak sauce that wasn't even mentioned in the description. Why? And skip the tomatoes when they're out of season. Two huge slices of colorless/flavorless ones did nothing for the dish. A wedge of lettuce doused in blue cheese with unseen bacon crumbles fallen underneath. Fried onion strings were heavy, not the "light" topping I expected. I would have given two stars but the service is excellent. Nice to see that hasn't changed! I've always enjoyed dining at 3 but after this I'd have to reconsider visiting again, or recommending it to anyone else. I just expect more! read more

3 is good. It really is. It's just always so busy that I always want to go elsewhere. We braved the wait by the crowded bar and ended up having a good meal. Started with the Baja Egg Rolls - they were delicious. I've always enjoyed the apps immensely at 3. I was having a hard time finding an entree but ended up trying the Jambalaya without shrimp. It was very good. I would have liked it spicier but I like things hot. And the chicken was cooked perfectly. A nice version of Jambalaya - I've shied away from ordering it anywhere that doesnt' have a cajun thing going on but 3 does it right. I loved 3. The filet mignon was to die for. Definitely pricey, but you pay for quality. The restaurant is beautiful. We had a little bit of a ditzy server (got us the wrong drinks, spilled water, was VERY slow), but since we wanted a long dinner, it was fine. All the desserts are made in-house. I would love to try a different one. The apple/blueberry crumble wasn't for me. Expensive, but delicious! Another note... there are ~20 handicapped parking spots outside... a little too many I think. Delicious! Went here this past Friday for my work's Christmas Party. We had a buffet; everything that I tasted was fresh, hot and tasty! Everyone at my table who had the turkey complimented on how juicy it was which is not the most common compliment for turkey - it's usually dry! I also had the vegetable medley and the alfredo pasta with red peppers and that was my favorite part! Everything about this place is nice, the food, atmosphere and service... Only part I wasn't crazy about was the drink prices but that's what you have to expect at a somewhat fancy establishment. Otherwise, this place is great and a nice place to go when you want to avoid the pubs and chain restaurants. Will definitely return! read more

Out of Town Review: - Yes, the place has a smell to it (like dirty kitchen, mold, and stinky feet) - Yes, the complimentary bread will fill you up - Half price appetizers from 4-6pm - "Starred/Blocked" items are feature items But for the food: - Complimentary flat bread & (hot) cornbread muffin - The cheesy flatbread was certainly unique and the cinnamon & sugar butter that can be spread on the cornbread muffin was to die for. I have to admit I completely filled myself up with this. - Lobster Slider (Appetizer) - Hamburger-like mini bun with plenty of lobster stuff inside (although I would've liked to taste more chunks of lobster and less of a mushy paste). It's nice that the veggies come on the side so you can add as you want, but it diminishes the taste of the lobster. I ate this in 2 bites (literally). If you love lobster roll, they sell the sandwich size version of this. - Lobster Risotto - Highly was the enormous chunks of lobster in this dish but the risotto lacked taste...it was like eating oatmeal or porridge with nice chunks of lobster. - Bolognese - Was starred and I wasn't craving any big meat or seafood dishes, so I gave this a go. This also was a disappointment with big noodles and very little of anything else. Portions are average and expect a dimly lit place. Overall, I liken this place to a California Pizza Kitchen (some dishes are a hit, some dishes are a miss, but in general, there is a good variety of cuisines to choose from). A very nice place . Very upscale inside, but a little pricey. Lunch for 1 could easily set you back $30. I have only been here once recently but the food was quite good. Started with a very good onion soup . I still like the onion soup at Joe's in Franklin a little bit more, but It was quite tasty and I am a big critic of onion soup. I had heard good things about 3 and took my wife last Friday night. We were VERY impressed. The food was great, decor hip, prices in line where they should be. 3 could easily be in the South End of Boston and be well received. My wife had the miso salmon, I had the special of pecan encrusted trout--both were excellent. Drinks were good, service was friendly, and we expect to become regular patrons. Just had a nice dinner with a group of friends for a birthday. Seating was great and the overall atmosphere was very trendy and modern. Didn't get a chance to check out the bar properly, but it looks rather beautiful from a distance. Service was very pleasurable, too. Not too in your face, but there when you needed it. The waitress was always there to refill my water! I expected better quality food, considering the prices, but that's not to say the food was bad at all. Just a bit overpriced. I got the chicken parm, which was HUGE. Definitely was not able to finish it (which is ok, I'll have leftovers!!!), but it was rather delicious. Loved the penne that went with it, too. A few of the people at the table tried the lobster risotto and were not a fan of it. The salmon salad was also apparently a huge hit. For dessert, a MASSIVE chocolate cake slice was served for our birthday girl and we were all able to share. It was a lovely place for a get together and I would recommend it for a date or something like that. Not exactly a place I'd frequent often. Maybe a couple times a year at tops and that's it. I came here a couple months ago for my cousin's first communion and it took me so long to finally write a review! We entered and greeted by a professional hostess and asked us which party we were with. There were several throughout the restaurant that day. We were downstairs to the right of the building. As we arrived we were asked for our beverage orders and offered a variety of hors d'oeuvres. I didnt eat them because they had meat in them but the server Kelly recognized this and offered me vegetable spring rolls once they came around instead of offering the meat ones. KUDOS. For lunch we were served buffet style which is what my aunt had planned on. Again, this server and the other one she was with went above and beyond explaining what I could and could not have based on the ingredients of the menu items and even offered to have something especially made, which they did. WOW! Amazing service! The food was very good and the restaurant handled my loud abnoxious Italian family very well. read more

The waiter tried his best but seemed overwhelmed with a large party of business people at the same time. Food was mediocre for the price.
