I was referred to Able Moving and Storage by someone who highly recommended them; Able had done many moves in our building recently so it was a known quantity here. I called the recommended salesman and scheduled an appointment with them. Upon arrival, we had a brief conversation before we walked through our home; I indicated in each room what we needed Able to move and what we would take care of ourselves. We're not moving far so the salesman gave me an idea of what the hourly rate would be, depending on how many movers were used to do the move, and who the coordinators would be. Upon his departure, the salesman said he would get his estimate to us possibly that evening, more likely over the weekend. Since it was a holiday weekend, I doubted we'd see an estimate until the following Tuesday. Tuesday came and no estimate. I texted the salesman asking when we'd see an estimate and he said it would be the next day. Wednesday came and went and still no estimate and, worse, no communication from the salesman. At that point, I decided not to pursue the matter with Able any further. We've still not heard from him to this day. The salesman [ I assume he was a salesman, he offered no business card or company literature] never indicated there was a problem with what we planned to do for the move. I plan to let the person who recommended Able to me know what happened for their future consideration should any of my neighbors ask for a referral.

He and his team showed up early on move day and worked efficiently to get things transferred from apartment to truck and then transported across town. When we got to my new place the angles were a bit tight so Bill was able to remove the legs from my sofa in order to maneuver it into the house. All in all a very smooth process and very affordable move. I would definitely recommend him to friends who are moving small apartments or just need help moving the big furniture after handling the small stuff themselves.

Yesterday I was in a panic because the moving company we booked canceled at the last second. When…read morethey didn't show, we called and they informed us that they weren't just late, but that they were not coming at all. Seriously. Who does that?! This is *after* I had already paid them. I immediately started calling around to see who could come move my belongings on such short notice. I realized it might be nearly impossible considering I was looking for someone same day (this was the last day of our lease, and given the fact that I had booked movers well in advance, I didn't see why this would be an issue. Now I know better). I called a company that was highly recommended on yelp and told them what I was dealing with. She said they were booked solid, but very quickly recommended that I call Danny Sloan. Who is Danny Sloan? Danny Sloan is the freaking man, that's who he is. I called him, explained my situation, and practically begged him to please find a way to help me out. The clock was ticking. Within ten minutes Danny had contacted his movers and within ONE HOUR they arrived at my house. Guys. He put a team together and had them at my house within an hour. Without any notice. Last second. WHAT! Not only did he have miraculously put a team together, he had them bring an extra truck, even though I already had one, to make sure that all of my things were out of the house in time by our deadline. I was seriously so blown away. That is the definition of going the extra mile for a customer! He even personally stopped by to make sure everything was going well! Felix and Andrew, our two movers, worked super fast despite the fact that it was close to 100 degrees outside, if not hotter at some points. They were insanely careful with all of my belongings and very courteous. I tried to offer them lunch, considering they had to come last second, but they politely declined and kept working. I was willing to pay for them to take a lunch break! Nonetheless, they worked right through. We realized we needed two extra boxes for random things that didn't make it in (cleaning supplies and a few bathroom items) - they had them ready to go with packaging tape! They had the entire place loaded onto two trucks within two hours. When they unloaded, they were polite in asking where I wanted certain pieces of furniture which was awesome because that meant I didn't have to struggle to move furniture after they left. They unloaded both trucks within two hours as well. I was happy with the price point - not the cheapest, not the most expensive, but still a great rate. However, I was even happier with the level of service I received from Danny, the owner, and how kind and efficient our two movers, Felix and Andrew were. These guys were all just plain awesome. I would 10000000000% recommend anyone call up Danny if you're in a pinch. If you're not in a pinch, call him anyway. These guys are worth it. After my experience with them, I wouldn't hesitate to call them first the next time I need to move.

Able and Safe Ship visited in person and estimated 1,888 and 1,879 cubic feet. Sloans estimated over the phone at 1,950 cubic feet. I was about to sign with Able, when Sloans changed their bid to more than $1,000 less than Able. I signed with Sloans. They did the move, but suddenly the costs were based on pounds rather than cubic feet (we had a non bulky weight set) and the costs skyrocketed WAY past both Able's and Safe Ship's estimates. We had everything boxed up except furniture and Sloans suddenly claimed that we hadn't done enough prep though we had been given zero prep guidance. This really looks like a bait and switch company to me. Please be careful. Get your price fixed is my advice. If they won't do that, I recommend Able. Minor issues. They lost a key component to an exercise kit, meaning I'll have to pay $300 to get a new one, and they lost some of my wife's cooking equipment.

From the estimate to pick up, through delivery, Bayshore was absolutely outstanding. The communication was terrific; the pick up went flawless and was so organized; the warehouse is climate-controlled, so art and electronics were all just fine; and the delivery was perfect. The truck arrived on time, preceded by a call from the driver, and the local team here in AZ were beyond great ~ respectful; affable and hard-working. Moving is stressful, however, any worries about going through the process were eliminated by the Bayshore team. Their weight estimate was a lot less than the competing quotes, so obviously a lot cheaper. But had we not culled more than we originally planned to move we'd have been over their limit for additional charges, so I have doubts in their estimating process. But the main reason I am giving them 1 star is that they did NOT take care of our items as well as someone in their price range should be. We have moved many times, we KNOW how to pack, but we have not had as many broken items as with these guys, they were really cramming our stuff hard in their truck as well as piling it high in our driveway for many hours on move out day. We also had a few furniture breakages and lost items from the unpacking process. We eventually did receive some partial compensation for a lost item and some breakage, but not nearly enough to cover. My advice, use United Van Lines. They may be more expensive but you'll get what you pay for.

Everyone I talked to at A&A, including the owner Alonso, were friendly, clear, and accommodating. They asked great questions ahead of time to get a clear idea of how much stuff I had and it's a good thing they know their stuff! They brought a full-size truck and a smaller van... and I filled both. When it was readily clear I had a lot of stuff, they called in an additional mover-- asking, of course, for my permission, but ultimately sharing that it would save me money. Each of the movers that showed up had an incredible positive attitude and they had great communication between them. They were efficient and fast. All my furniture was in the same shape after the move, and they even made sure I didn't lose any bookshelves or those little things that hold the shelves up. Nothing broke, either. They even paid attention to my labels and tried to match the box with the correct room. While I want A&A to be available for every move I do, I also want others to know what an affordable and pleasant experience this was. (They even do moves out of state-- one guy was telling me about a move to Florida they did!) Great communication with me before and during the move, reasonable pricing, excellent experience overall.

I called 40-something other companies before choosing A&A Moving, and was floored by Alonzo's honesty and respectfulness. No hidden fees, no bait-and-switch pricing, just real talk about his costs, how much he needs to pay his guys, and what I could afford. He even told me he'd be coming on this move personally, which made me feel better about the whole thing. My experiences with other movers have made me kind of neurotic; Alonzo handled this with poise and understanding. He sent me multiple confirmations before our scheduled packing day, and sent plenty of updates that day, so I always knew where they were at. I returned from work to find everything neatly packed, with the exception of my bed and a few items that Alonzo and crew thought I might need - soap, toilet paper, towels, deodorant, tampons, my travel neck pillow... Those items were handled the next day, when the guys loaded my boxes into the truck. The actual move went off without a hitch. Alonzo kept me updated about his location and ETA during the cross-country drive, and he and his colleague Bryan (or is it Brian? Either way, you rock, dude) arrived at my California apartment within 15 minutes of their promised delivery time. Not a single item was broken, my furniture was in exactly the same condition I left it in DC, and they managed to get everything into the apartment without a single scratch or scuff mark on my walls. Seriously, I cannot speak highly enough about A&A Moving. If this is how they handled a cross-country job, I can only imagine their precision and attention to detail during shorter / easier moves.
