My girls and I came here for Sunday Brunch yesterday and had an amazing time. We made our reservation in advance and it all worked out perfectly. The outdoor seating was clean and so cute. Once we were all seated, we ordered appetizers and peach mimosas. We ordered and shared the following: avocado toasts, lobster rolls, and calamari. THE CALAMARI IS PHENOMENAL !! PERFECTLY COOKED AND THE SAUCE IS EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. For my entree, I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the potatoes were well seasoned. Everything went well together and I really enjoyed my entire plate. Along with the amazingly tasty food, the ambiance is so nice. Had plans with a friend to get dinner. We asked some people for recommendations and a couple of people told us about this place. the atmosphere and outdoor seating area was very nice our waitress was amazing gave us time while we figured out what we wanted and checked in on us multiple times throughout the meal. We started with truffle fries for the table, they were delicious and were paired with some sort of aioli that topped it off to perfection. We then split a flat bread and salad. Neither one of us were fans of the salad, we both felt that the beets were overpowering in the dish and we couldn't taste anything else. The flatbread was very good! Came in for my birthday this past weekend, and I was blown away by the service from Bachir. I never felt rushed during my dinner and was able to ask him in depth questions about the menu that he was able to answer swiftly. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and had good service. Just left thinking the shrimp scampi pasta and salmon were a bit over priced for what you get. It wasn't bad but wasn't blown away. It was something I felt we could make at home. The branzino on the other hand was very good and flavorful and worth it. Everything on the menu tastes really good. Their service was quick, friendly and easy going. We made a reservation in advance, which is recommended as the place gets busy. Its a spacious room, and gets quite loud inside when full. Some dance music was played on the background. There is a large bar in the middle of the room and tables and couches on both sides. Menu has some really good options. We had to try shrimp scampi and beef pasta for the main course. Appetizers, spicy calamari , salads and soup were brought to the table in no time. Everything was fresh and delicious. And when it comes to dessert - Baked Alaska not only delicious but is huge. I mean really huge. Everything on the dessert menu comes in large portions so be ready for that. Overall great experience and well deserved 5 stars read more

Great menu selections! Salmon was cooked as ordered. Very impressed with restaurant interior and building for unique atmosphere. We would highly recommend the Carrot Cake - best presentation for a dessert in the Midwest! The marshmallow topping on the cake is crazy good. One suggestion I have for management- that was a little strange when we walked in - was the hostess telling us we had a 90 min table limit. There were 3 of us and we did not plan to spend the entire evening - it's was kind of awkward. It felt like hurry up and eat! Our server and kitchen staff were on point because we almost hit 90 mins. I'm wondering what the hostess was told to do if someone goes beyond 90 min. Please reconsider that statement. Otherwise we'll be back! read more

I met up for brunch a few weeks ago with my friends at 220 Merrill restaurant. The restaurant was highly suggested from one of my friends, and she raved about the brunch menu, and wanted to celebrated her birthday here. She also stated that the restaurant had nice reviews. Once I glanced the menu, and looked at the reviews, I was down to go! So there was a group of seven of us. We are outside on the patio, which to no fault of the restaurant was horrible! There were bugs flying and crawling around everywhere. Some responsibility of common sense should've been placed with our party for dining outside, but I've dined outside at several restaurants, and never had such as big issue like this experience. Our waiter was nice, and initially I didn't think the wait time for our food for the entire party was bad. One of my friends and I ordered The Ultimate Brunch Burger. I ordered my burger well done, and my friend ordered her burger medium well. Well, when the food was served to us, I received the medium well burger, and my friend received the well done. So we sent our food back. We didn't hear from our waiter or receive our proper order until over 30 minutes after sending the food back. Which I felt was totally unacceptable. Then we had issues receiving condiments such as ketchup for the table, and refills for our sodas. And after eating the food, I can't say that I was totally impressed with the taste of the burger. The fries were good, but the burger tasted bland. So I was very disappointed! My other friends ordered their food and stated it was ok. But same as my experience, some food was bland to them as well, and we weren't satisfied with our experience. And, I forgot, initially I had a dirty cup of water when I first arrived, and had to ask for a new cup. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the customer service and food. I'm not sure if I would try this restaurant again. The menu items seemed interesting to come back and try something different, but I don't think I would be interested in going again. read more

I had the salmon, one ordered the impossible burger, and the other had the filet mignon. Big, generous portions. I felt like my salmon was lacking in flavor. I'm a salmon lover so that was a bit disappointing, but I've tried a small piece of my friends' dishes and theirs were quite tasty. Really liked the sauce on the filet mignon. Definitely recommend the truffle fries and calamari!! Didn't expect the appetizer to taste better than the main entree (mine at least). Portion for the appetizers were quite generous as well. Met friends of mine here for weekend brunch. We were seated outside. The weather was beautiful as was the view. Our server was excellent. He was very welcoming and knowledgeable as he was able to answer all questions regarding the menu. We placed our orders and awaited the food. The music played had more of a beach party vibe than brunch. Once the food arrived, our tables were flanked with the uninvited guests of fruit flies. There should definitely be citronella candles to curtail this presence. One of my friends and I each ordered the Ultimate Brunch Burger. Mine was to be cooked medium and hers was to be well done. We each were given the other's burger. It was evident that the second cook was rushed as a result of the mistake and was not as put together or flavorful as the initial one. One of the guests of our party asked a staff member for ketchup and as told that it had to be requested from our server. We found that to be ridiculous especially after viewing the server obtain it from the area said staff member was in at the time of the inquiry. We also were not able to separate the bill either and several of the guests had other commitments they needed to get to prior to everyone being ready to leave (given that two of us has to wait for food to be refired). For a restaurant of this caliber, the expectation was higher than what I experience. The service provided from the server (I wish I had his name) is what garnered the three stars from me. He was exceptional. I made sure my tip reflected that for him. I doubt I'll make a return visit. read more

They are open during Covid, but I recommend making a reservation in advance with OpenTable so you don't have to wait. They are normally always busy, so a casual walk in will likely result in a wait. For appetizers we ordered the Ahi Tuna Tartare, wagyu beef meatballs, and grilled octopus. Of them all the octopus was my favorite- it was phenomenally charred and seasoned to perfection while being complimented with cauliflower couscous. Meatballs were good with the bread served on the side and you don't want to share the ahi tuna with anyone. The filet mignon is halal as it is creekstone, and they cooked it perfectly medium rare. It comes with potato's and we enjoyed the truffle fries with the New York steak. Highly recommend ordering the bone-in New York steak with a lobster tail. To share we ordered the margarita pizza with chicken and it is true to thin good taste. You have to, NO NEED TO order the Tres Leches Cookie Butter dessert. It is the best dessert they serve on the small dessert menu, tell your waiter to write a message for a friend too before getting it. All in all from the start of the meal to the end, it was simply elegant. Will always be a fan of this place as it never disappoints!! read more

I've had this place on my list for quite some time, so when my friend suggested this place for dinner I was all in! Very cute location and the interior is beautiful. I love the overall vibe of the restaurant. We made a reservation so I was seated right away. We started off with an appetizer, the truffle fries. I love some good truffle fries. The order was huge and could have definitely fed 4-5 people. The garlic aioli was a great compliment but they should give more because the order of fries is huge. We ordered drinks, I got the margarita Fresca which was very refreshing. My friend ordered the herb basil & Tijuana brass. She said it was good but very bitter. Our food came out very quickly. I ordered the Scottish salmon, which I enjoyed. Overall the service was good, our waiter was attentive. It did take him some time to greet us. Back to review a SECOND time because I need to stress the incredible SERVICE I have received BOTH times I came here, with the same waitress- who made our experience even better both times!! Timely, consistent and even gave me PLENTY of recommendations all throughout the evening, making sure my drink tasted good- she almost seemed to KNOW what I wanted!! Unlike other reviews on here, maybe they didn't have our server but I thankfully hav enjoy experienced bad service or long wait times so far thanks to her!! The food once again did NOT disappoint! This time we ordered the SAME dishes as last time (I actually came especially for the same things we had) but also had their fried calamari and their wagyu meatballs appetizer. They were both excellent. The meatballs almost tasted like our kufta (I'm Egyptian) so I feel like used some similar spices in there, but very good and moist. Once the restaurant got busier, we saw less of her, she mixed up our drinks and seemed to care less about her lack of attention. The manager stopped by to check on us, which was nice, she picked up where the waitress lacked. So seems like there could be a staffing issue. We just got dozen oysters, calamari, and the tuna tartare and a few cocktails. Music was too loud, this caused patrons nearIt was overpriced. We got better service and food at Mabel Gray. Happy Hour/Day Drinking/Bar Crawl Stop #2 I remember this place as being real hoity-toity when I was in high school. It still kinda is, but I'm a grown up now, and if my friends and I want to drink at the bar in tee shirts, then so be it. They actually have a great happy hour here. Several $7 cocktails, although none with rum for my forlorn friend. I had an amazing cocktail called Popper's Fuzzy Bubbles. It was fun and fruity and made with Ketel One and Elderflower liqueur. Ooh, I'm so fancy! Not only do they have several $7 cocktails, but also several $7 bites. We did not plan to stay that long here because we had more bar crawling to do.
