This place is definitely a hidden gem on Monroe st! A group of us stopped in a few Saturdays ago. The bar was packed! They had a Dj, table games, darts, a pool table, shuffleboard-they even had a mechanical bull!!!! There was so much to do! People were dancing. Music was blasting. The whole place was a vibe! Like-your favorite sports bar + club vibe, mixed. And the bartender was amazing! My favorite thing overall- the garage-door style windows Probably a huge hot spot during summer. We stopped in after the Def Leppard, journey concert as my buddy and me knew about this place after a work meeting. This bar has great music from 80's 90's playing all the time, whether it's a DJ, play list or band it's on! The bartenders are super friendly and they have games in there too, like darts, jenga, and table shuffleboard. We absolutely love this bar as our wives did too. There is no food FYI. read more

As my profile states, I like to move it, move it. And movin' it at Delux Lounge is pretty darn easy. The sectioned off portion of the dance floor is the perfect space to get your dance and party on while you toss back a few drinks. The DJ, while not the world's most innovative, will keep the top 40 hits coming all night long, and let's face it--that's what top 40 is great for. Sweet dance moves, yo! The bar is relatively easy to get to from the dance floor (unless it's super crowded, which can happen) and the bartenders are quick with a drink and friendly to boot! The prices are totally reasonable (although admittedly I spent a good portion of my drinking years in college Chicago so I find most cocktails in the Detroit area a steal) and the drinks are stiff and tasty. A good selection of beer (STELLLLLA!) and the waitresses that roam the floor are very helpful and cheerful as well. If you're not really the type to bust out the running man and drop it like it's hot on the dance floor you can still have a good time at Delux. The music isn't so loud that you can't carry a decent conversation and there are a few huge booths that make sitting and chatting relatively easy (just make sure you get there early on a weekend since they fill up fast!). Parking can be kind of a nightmare unless you pony up for the lot across the street (which I suggest you do since window popping does happen downtown, unfortunately), and since it can get crowded it can be a bit overwhelming if you're agoraphobic. But if you're cool with a crowd and you want a fun, low stress night out, Delux is a pretty good place to gather your friends and hit the dance floor. Bring on the Usher, ya'll! read more

Found this place on yelp. We walked downtown by varies bars but ended up at this one because after all we wanted to dance. At the beginning it was kinda of empty, but closer to 11pm it started getting packed. The music was on point. Fridays is free cover for ladies and $5 martinis (which they have a great variety ) . This place was recommended by some local cops. It was good for people watching. There were a couple bachelorette parties there tearing up the dance floor. The drinks were good and the prices were cheap. They had a large selection of alcohol. Service was also good. The DJ played great music and we enjoyed our time there. The only negative I have is that the crowd seems to change around midnight, it felt a bit more intense after the midnight hour hit. read more

As time goes on, I've learned to love Delux more and more... EVEN when it gets crowded... especially if I sneak in just before the rush to grab a table or bar stool. Jay Brown is awesome, which helps me love it even more. The drinks do not fail me- although $5 Thursdays is sure to be the death of me one day! Considering I don't even remember leaving Delux Lounge, I'm going to chalk it up as a good experience. Nycole K and I went there to blow off some steam and we sat at the bar. The bartender/mixologist - Adam, was awesome. He paid us the right amount of attention and surprisingly wasn't a complete tool. We started ordering drinks and Adam kept up with us pretty well. Now, I can't really blame the next chain of events on the bar, but I can't complain. We sat strategically in a place , just far enough apart to create a hole for people order a drink. When they would come to the bar, we would strike a conversation with them. As the place got more packed, and these people would wait longer, the more we would talk, and eventually score a free shot/drink. So luckily I got to sample several of Delux Lounge finest. Hence, the memory loss. The atmosphere is practically nothing, but kinda cool located below ground. They also attract a nice blend of young and trampy, and older and pathetic. For the record, I fall somewhere in between. One star away because I wasn't a fan of the DJ's choice of mix. But other than that, it's a great place to have some fun drinks, get your dance on, and hang with a bar full of people just having a good time. read more

I always frequent Delux Lounge under the same conditions: on a Saturday Night, stepping in around 12:30-1am,and already drunk but not quite wasted. When bopping place-to-place in Greektown I always think of Delux and can't resist. There has steadily been a more than tolerable crowd (to the point where I can almost safely declare it a douche-bag free zone from my experiences). All of the music played is top40 dance stuff, but the DJ switches it up enough that you're forgetting 'that one annoying song' as soon as you heard it. And the drinks are strong enough that you aren't really going to care anyway. All wins in my book. read more

I like this place, but the guy at the door scamming you for $5 detracts from this place, as does the bathroom attendant. I don't need someone putting soap in my hand and selling me paper towels for a $1. Capital Grill, sure, but some BS C+ to B- club in Detroit, no thanks. If this was an ultra club that was super nice inside I would understand, but it's not. FWIW the VIP area needs an over-haul. The couches are sunk in, uncomfortable, and ripped. The layout of the area should be modified. The extension that kicks out toward the DJ tripped no less than 5 people while I was there. It's a safety issue and should be remedied asap. Good DJ, great drinks, reasonable prices, but they start their "line" way too early. You wait in line for 15-20 minutes then get inside and realize that the place is completely dead. I realize that having a line outside is somewhat of an advertisement for a club, but at least be at 30% capacity before you start the line and charging people cover, or give people a free drink with their cover charge to keep them there for 1/2 hour to an hour until it fills up. read more

Cool place to hang out and have drinks. It's kinda dark and you have to walk down a little slope (once inside) to get actually IN, but it's still cool. On the weekends, it's more of a club type of deal with the line, cover charge and DJ. There is a bathroom attendant who has a variety of smell goods, lotions and other do-dads you might need to use (tips are appreciated). I kinda don't like the bathroom being right at the front door because sometimes, they leave the door to the bathroom wide open and everybody coming in or standing in line can see you fixing your clothes or freshening your makeup in the mirror. The martini selection seems to be pretty good, but I usually stick with my usual drink choice and that's usually made fast and consistent. read more

I think the owners of Delux have struck a really good balance. It's dark, but nice. You can get a high-end cocktail with a million different vodkas to choose from or get one of their signature martinis. Or you can get a High Life. The music before the DJs start is an eclectic mix of punk and metal and anything else you'd hear in a rock n roll bar. Once the DJs start, it's all dance, but not quite like a dance club. Even though they do have a small, but not too small dance floor which fills up quickly. What I like the most about Delux is that it can be what you want it to be, in a sense. It can be your 'Cheers', or it can be a martini bar, or it can be a 'dark bar' (but not a dive), or a dance club. I like that at midnight on a Saturday night, the dance floor is full and half the bartenders are guys who are in local punk bands. Oh, also, the crowd there tends to be pretty eclectic. Anyone can fit in. As for parking, do yourself a favor and park in the Greektown Casino parking structure. It's free, you don't need to get a ticket validated in the casino anymore, and it's only a few short blocks away. read more

Pretty good beer selection, and a delectible martini menu - especially dangerous on Thursday nights when all martinis are $5. Weekends it gets poppin'. Expect a line and a cover charge - but also expect a good time! The weekend experience is definitely more club-like. You won't find anything extrodinary or gound breaking, but the music, crowd, and scene is consistent and good. The crowd is 20-30's and know how to have a good time without getting drunk to the point of puking on themselves. The DJ isn't going to blow your mind with sweet new sounds, but you can bet that martini that you'll hear your new jam from the radio being played. Ahhhh, my home away from home. This is the perfect kind of bar to me. Not overly club-tastic unce unce unce type music or atmosphere....but just enough action for a good time. I love the lounge-y type atmosphere too.....you can choose to get rowdy on the dance for or just kick it and conversate in one of the booths. Super fun because it has a mix of everything. Even though it can get pretty crowded on the weekends, the bartenders and staff do a great job of keeping everyone happy and drinks flowin like water. Weeknights are super chill and a great place to grab a drink if you are just looking to relax and have some cocktails. Such a fun place! Everyone drops their pretenses and just dances. One night I found myself there after a wedding dancing in the middle of the floor to "Like a Prayer" by Madonna. It felt like a dream. The bartenders do there part with an excellent pour, but it's really the DJ that runs this place. Get in before they start charging cover (although if you're a girl you can usually get in no matter the time) and dance your butt off! Did you know you burn calories while dancing? This place is like my living room... Generally a decent crowd and it can get really busy. The staff is 5 star, the doorman will always remember your name (or at least mine -whut up Billy!), security is SUPER on point and fair (but don't get caught acting up) and the bartenders rock (especially Adam!) Went there on a saturday night about 12. I was told it was a diverse crowd, it was not, 85% white (which is not a problem). $5 cover. Got a glass of wine, 2 sex on the beach, and some other drink for $25 which I thought was pretty great for 4 drinks! The music could have been a little more current but it was fine. There is seating but but it was definitely crowded, not in an irritating way though. If you want to dance this is a good place to go. I would return. read more

Delux Lounge was a cozy, nice little hidden gem of Detroit. The crowd is all pretty much well to do 20-somethings. I didn't see a single menacing individual staring me down as I would risk seeing in some other Detroit venues. I won't say all yuppies because there were some undergrads and artist type hipsters as well - but it was a welcoming and eclectic mix that a metro Detroit suburbanite could feel comfortable in. It seemed like a lot of Grosse Pointers and other poshier suburbanites were there. The bar was a good size with attentive bartenders that were not arrogant but actually pretty kind and laid back. Drink prices were very fair. On a Friday night I was still able to get some $3 microbrew beer draft and some specialty shots for $5, which is not bad for downtown pricing. The crowd was mellow and mature but still active and energetic - I didn't see too many drunks complaining and having bromance in the bathroom, lol. Nor did I see any drunken girls stumbling around making fools of themselves as predator greaseballs guys hovered like vultures to go for easy pickings. So, the creep/sleaze/drunk-idiot effect was minimal here, which was a plus! Also, the guy-girl ratio was pretty good. This place actually has some seating near the bar, a few arcade machines, and a nice little dance floor that was not so big that it's too clubby or so small that it's too intimate to dance in. The DJ had the new school Apple Macbook style of disc jockeying - which was still good. He had some really top 40 stuff and some better, more "real" stuff. The top 40 stuff, I realize that some of it's needed, but too much of it just sounds like commercial free radio - like that crap station we have, Channel 955. The flat panel TV was playing some random videos - pretty cool to glance at but nothing special - just added to the "happening" ambiance of today's technological age, I suppose. They had the suburban, white and/or upper middle class friendly vibe going with the hip-hop, house and techno early in the night and the classic all American rock/pop jams at the end of the night when all were in buzzed euphoria. All in all, this was a diverse, cozy, medium-small size venue that you could definitely make a night out of. Especially since it's practically in Greektown - you could have plenty of dinner before or late night eats options afterwards and walk out into a safe and lively part of Detroit at the end of the night - which is a good perk as well! read more

Went here last weekend for my cousins birthday party and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't think I'd actually enjoy myself but I did! The drinks were great, they kept them flowing for sure. Delux = best dance party in Detroit. I don't know what about this simple bar enchants me, but every time I go I'm thankful I did. The bar is on the smaller side, but usually you can grab a booth with a little bit of luck and patience. The music is always blaring and make sure to wear your dancing shoes, cause you can't resist getting down at this club. The bartenders are all friendly and will help to get you drunk quickly. The bathroom attendant is always spot on, and will help you still smell good through your drunken haze.
