The staff was phenomenal, the food was really well prepared and the atmosphere was just right. Whether you are here for a date night, a group outing, a business dinner or a celebration, you can't go wrong with 220 Merrill. The steaks are excellent, I really enjoyed the calamari appetizer and of course the millionaire's fried rice was awesome. Save room for the Biscoff cookie dessert. It is totally worth it. We went to 220 Merrill for the first time for a wedding rehearsal dinner. We were in the back of the restaurant where they had high top standing tables for cocktails, and long banquet style tables for dinner. Multiple servers came around to take drink orders. I inquired about a drink another guest had, and the server said it was a mocktail that had white peach, strawberry, and coconut. I was disappointed because I have a coconut allergy, but the server immediately offered to bring me one without coconut. Appetizers were set on the banquet tables, and we could help ourselves. The shrimp were MASSIVE and they also had raw oysters served with them. They offered multiple sauces on the side for them. They also had dishes with cured meats, cubed cheese, and grape on the table. The dinner was served buffet style. All of the food was hot in the serving dishes. I was able to sample each of the offerings: Mediterranean crunch salad, sweet and spicy calamari, roasted vegetables, roasted potatoes, vodka rigatoni, Alfredo rigatoni, grilled chicken, salmon, and filet mignon. I am not personally a big fan of pasta or red sauce, but the spicy vodka rigatoni was AMAZING. the Alfredo rigatoni and roasted potatoes were also great. I do think that the roasted vegetables would have benefited from some seasonings, and the salmon could have used a sauce or additional seasonings. The grilled chicken was personallyt favorite protein. The filet mignon did have some pink in the middle, but it was still a bit on the dry side. During dessert they brought out trays of mini desserts to each table. At this time the server who had taken my drink order hours early came to my table and brought me a giant portion of mango sorbet. He told me that he didn't know if I could eat any of the desserts, so he verified that the mango sorbet did not have any coconut in it and brought some for me. It was so nice!!! He remembered a comment I had made hours earlier, and unprompted brought my own allergy free dessert. I wish I had gotten his name! It really made my night. I will definitely be back in the future! I've been wanting to try 220 for quite some time and finally got around to having it for carryout lunch. I liked the packaging with foil to help insulate the food. I ordered the 220 burger that came with fries. Price was about $20 which I was totally fine with. The food was very good. Lots of flavor on the burger. The various toppings worked quite well. My one knock would be the bun; it wasn't toasted so the burger lacked some structural integrity. That and the onion jam which seemed more like cooked onions than an actual jam. Overall, an A rating for a burger (2nd best tier). The fries were plentiful and had nice crisp. A little more salt could have boosted them even higher, but I was pleased with them. We went here to try some where new for my husbands birthday with friends. They have outdoor seating and inside dining as well as valet service. We had gotten the meatball appetizer and calamari which was amazing. The guys got steaks they were just ok. But the best items hands down were the lamb chops, millionaire rice and the carbonara. The cocktails were good and they have a nice wine list. We ended with the carrot cake which was good also. It's a bit loud inside and it appears that the evening changes over to be more of a club setting with a DJ as we noticed the customers seemed to change over to a younger crowd. We ordered some shareables like the truffle fries, croissant bread pudding and the miso sea bass wraps. Along with a Caeser salad with chicken, mini lobster and shrimp rolls. The plating looked amazing. The truffle fries tasted great you can taste the Parmesan and the truffle flavor was light but fragrant. The croissant bread pudding was so nice, they had so much flavor but I wouldn't have called it bread pudding. It was a croissant with cheese but there wasn't any type of pudding other than a liquid sauce. The miso sea bass wraps were outstanding so flavorful in such a few bites. Came here for happy hour, the bar was packed but we were able to get a high top for two. Ordered the Spicy Honey chicken. Wings, meatballs and crispy tuna tacos. The wings were like eating air...no flavor at all. Did not get any spice, honey or seasoning. The meatballs did not have much seasoning either but the cheese helped elevate it some. Im a nerd. I make itineraries when I travel. TikTok and Reels both recommend 220 Merrill for brunch. Unfortunately, our Amtrak train was delayed and we did not get to the restaurant until after brunch was over. Still, it was amazing. My husband had the burger and I had the turkey club. So good. But... the brunch was on our itinerary. So... I had to go back the next morning to get it. Am so happy I did. I had a great mocktail and the croissant bread pudding. So yum. And the service.... Had a first date here this evening. Ambiance was great and service was excellent. Our server, sophia (or sophie, my apologies on not having the exact name) was so hard working and helped us out deeply. I do think the miso sea bass could be marinated a little longer in the sauce because i was only getting a hint of that flavor. I will also note that the pepper on top was very spicy to me. I do have a low spice tolerance, but i can handle jalapeños, but this pepper took me right out. The rice was excellent. I did like this dish but i would try something else in the future. Came here for brunch and everything hit the spot. The vibe is cozy but still stylish, and it wasn't too loud or packed which made it easy to relax and enjoy the food. Our server Basheer was great--super chill, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. We tried a little bit of everything. The French toast was thick and soft with a really good cream drizzle and fresh berries on top. Definitely a must if you have a sweet tooth. The truffle fries were addicting and perfectly crispy. The history of the building is so cool! Make sure to look up the details! Since being a restaurant, this spot has gone through 3 renovations. I can't compare to the past, but this one is cute. Definitely a girlie vibe, but lots of dudes come here too. My husband sat in the bar so we could people watch. Great location by the window (table for 2) and views of the restaurant, patio, and the outside area. We started off with a couple of cocktails. For dinner, we ordered the salmon, short ribs, and the wild mushrooms. Good flavors and portion sizes. We weren't offered a dessert menu to peak at but we saw others indulging and they are giant. Definitely Instagramable desserts! I probably would have ordered one for a few bites and a lot of pictures. We came on a Friday night. They only take reservations for 3 or more people. We went to 220 for a girls' night out on Saturday night. Upon arrival, we are promptly seated in the bar area, which also has dining area separated from the main dining room in the back. The atmosphere was lively and loud but not in a bad way. Our waiter promptly came over and filled our water glasses and asked us for our drink selection. The service was prompt. We each ordered something different for dinner, but we shared the mushrooms as our appetizer. The mushrooms were good but the portion size was small. For dinner we had the Seabass, the Bronzino and one of the flatbread pizzas. The seabass was delicately prepared and very flavorful. I would definitely order it again. My friends also ordered desserts, which were impressive to say the least. They definitely were fit to be shared. The wines were delicious. I really enjoyed the Chardonnay on the wine list. Back "home" in the D for a quick 48 hours, I was able to squeeze in a visit with friends and we ended up here at 220 Merrill. It was this past Saturday evening, and my friend Sloan picked me up from the airport ... My flight landed DTW at 7:30 and we were at a table meeting our friends Ali and Evan for drinks / dinner at 220 Merrill by 8:30. Thanks to Ali and Evan for scoring the table in the bar for all of us! It was a cold evening, so I so appreciated the valet parking situation (and the one working heat lamp outside on the tail end) too! I was amazed with how crowded the place was considering the freezing cold weather and darkness outside! It was a fun ambiance with great energy but it was super loud... I couldn't hear half the conversation that Ali and Sloan were having right next to me and I don't think Evan could hear half of what I was saying either! Service was attentive... we had drinks pretty quickly and food shortly after. Everyone enjoyed the food they had including a Greek Salad, Steak, Truffle Fries, Oysters and Shrimp Cocktail.
