Amazing food and service. I have food allergies and keep coming back because they are safe with my steak and vegetables. Their vegetables are a great variety and the steak is tender. The guys had the lamb chops and raved about them. Desserts were key lime pie and bread pudding and they raved about both of them saying the best they had. I couldn't have them because of gluten and dairy allergies. But I was super full from dinner and loved the food. I haven't had a reaction from all four times I've eaten here recently. read more

My husband & I were visiting from out of town and friends took us here for dinner. Food and service were phenomenal. And I love, love, loved the decor and ambiance. We are from the big city, so I love when small towns get that kitsch-Twin Peaks vibe on point. Get the Oysters Rockefeller!!! Food was excellent! We had tuna and pickerel. The staff were friendly enough. The restaurant has a pub appeal with an eclectic decor. It is very small and didnt have reservation, went early, sat at very uncomfortable table front window-a wooden table/chairs vs glass would be more comfy! suggest a thorough cleaning- lots dust and bathroom floor was haven to dust bunnies. A few fellow health and safety professionals and I had a very nice dinner here during my recent audit trip to Sarnia. We really couldn't talk about the audit itself during our meal, but we sure managed to talk about everything else! It was great to catch up with the latest news and gossip. Also up for discussion was bad humor, Canadian and US politics, family, Las Vegas lounge acts and gambling strategy, and recent AC-DC and Nickelback concerts. Lola's Lounge is located in downtown Sarnia and once you see the bright neon, you know you've arrived. This long and narrow space has a welcoming, fun, cool, and kitchy feel, including interesting sparkly things hanging from the ceiling. I could see taking Gayle here for a nice evening of food and conversation. The menu was somewhat eclectic and had a little bit of something for everyone. While a few of my colleagues opted for a huge steak with a delicious macaroni and cheese interpretation, I opted for an equally unique Kung Pao Chicken selection that I thoroughly enjoyed (along with a few bottles of Keith's IPA). I finished off with a very good and well presented slice of homemade key lime pie. Our waitperson for the evening was also excellent. It was a great evening and at least in my very limited experience, one of the best meals that Sarnia has to offer. read more

Went for dinner on a Friday night around 6:30. First tip is to make a reservation, we didn't know you'd need one so we sat at the bar. No biggie though, lesson learned. We had the perch and the chop salad, both of which were really good. The service was also very friendly and inviting. So why the three stars? My date went to the women's washroom which was directly across from dining tables and filled with mirrors. The lock was not functioning and she was literally walked in on with her pants down. Of course there was a table full of men across the way who no doubt will give a five star review for the free show. Unfortunately we were not able to stay and enjoy drinks because obviously she was quite embarrassed and wanted to leave. Great food and service, please fix the women's washroom lock. read more

Can't say enough about Lola's. Hands down the coolest atmosphere not only in Sarnia Lambton, but throw Port Huron in as well. It's like walking into a set on "Mad Men." Lola's is one of a few "cool" places to go in Sarnia, in that it is something you could find in a large, trendy city. It was an old diner years ago, and they kept some of the charm, while making the place very chic. Menu is not that large, but the items on it have a unique twist, and quality is superb. Prices reflect this, but it's not that much more than your average bar and grill. The place isn't very big, so make a reservation, if you can. It fills up quickly, especially on event nights or weekends. The tequila mussels are a great appetizer to split. My favorite entree is the beef tenderloin. Cooked to perfection, rich and delicious. read more

We've been here so many times and it's always a party. Service can be a bit slow, but it doesn't affect the enjoyment of the meal. Good seafood options, although the meatballs are very good. I've had the noodle starry several times. Decent prices on wine. They push the martinis, but they aren't the best deal. Seating options are banquettes, booths and at the bar. Parking on the street or there is a lot behind the resto. read more

So this is a mixed review because I genuinely enjoyed the food, the service was also outstanding, however the location is terrible. Parking is an issue and the restaurant is in very tight quarters. This wouldn't be a problem, as long as you eat there when no one else is. However eating when it's so loud you can not hear the person you are sitting with (or say your waiter/waitress) isn't enjoyable to me. The atmosphere is also fantastic. Albeit the prices are a bit on the steep side. I do recommend eating here for sure, just plan carefully and avoid going during busy times. read more

The wacky decor alone is worth a stop as we devoured the delicious jalapeno mussels. Service was not particularly warm and ice in martinis was an unusual touch (at least compared to the U.S.), but we would definitely come back. Reservations appear needed after 6 PM on weekends. read more

Just got dinner there with a friend. Crabcake appetizer special was crunchy and fresh, served with some greens. Had the mussels in garlic butter sauce...very tasty and delicious...they serve them with some shrimp and scallops mixed in which add to the flavor...they come topped with french fries which I thought was different but hey more to soak up some of that tasty broth ! It was my entree as it is a huge bowl. The atmosphere is a cross between a nightclub and a cozy restaurant. Decor is a conversation starter for sure. I have been to Lola's a few times and every time was memorable. The service can be a bit patchy but the food, especially the fish is outstanding. Fresh and vibrant flavours, interesting flavour combinations that you haven't had a million times before. The decor is amazingly kitsch and quirky, a bit burlesque and drag but it transforms a tiny space into an unforgettable atmosphere. Great cocktail menu as well. read more

The food, drink and decor are lovely however some of the staff is quite rude and you better bring a few hundred dollars if you plan on eating. I went in to get a few celebratory drinks, had three glasses of bourbon and a martini. I ordered one last martini, took one sip, and than the bartender took it away from me saying that I had drank too much. Those martini's are $8 each. At the least I should have been refunded. I'll make sure to find another lounge next time. read more

Had Calamari and Mussels and it was excellent. Calamari was not as light as I like it, but was tasty and well portioned. The Jalapeno Mussels were spicy enough, and very flavourful. The only downside was the beer selection, decent amount of beer, but nothing really local, or small batch brewery, but that being said, the wine selection was good. Lola's lounge is definitely one of the best restaurant's I've ever been to and it might actually be number one in my books. I tried Lola's about a year and a half ago and since then it quickly became the only place I wanted to go out to eat. I've been there more than a couple of dozen times and each time I am thoroughly thrilled with the experience. I'm not a chef or even a foodie but I have always loved to cook, Lola's has inspired me to cook more and from scratch. It doesn't matter if it's fabulous favorite like scallop potato's or something much more creative like lobster ravioli; I always want more, think about it for days after, and can't wait till the next time I can go again. read more
