What is there to say about Jack's? It has been here forever, but for most of it's life it was…read morehidden to all those but a few who worked in and around it. Situated in the heart of Port Huron's South Park industrial district, it once was the haunt for blue collar Joe's who worked as the likes of Anker - Holth, Ogden Moffett, Gibraltar Sprocket and the old Autolife/Prestolite. It suffered when this area was hit hard by the rust belt woes of the 70's, 80's and 90's, with all but neighboring Port Huron Building Supply left, and by the early 2000's many wondered not if Jack's would close, but when. As such, Jack's probably would have gone the way of so many small working-class bars, but a couple years ago some key things changed to ensure not only it's survival, but a comeback. The biggest was that the former Tomlin's drugstore, long the fixture at the corner of Electric Avenue and Connor Streets, was torn down. This suddenly gave Jack's a frontage that it never had, and it became "found "by hipsters in the area. It became a cool place to be, and suddenly 20-something's were seen packing a place that less than two years before was usually inhabited by a handful of Baby Boomers and 70 and 80 something's who had pretty much nearly embalmed themselves into oblivion. Somehow or another, the word then worked its way down to the Detroit area and across to neighboring Canada, and it, along with Neil's across the street (the former Sportsman's) have become a new destination point in the community. The difference between this and so many other hipster places that serve drinks is that Jack's was serving PBR and Schaefer's before it was cool, and the atmosphere, in all it's Knotty-pine glory, is truly authentic rather than the faked stuff thrown together in many places. The staff is usually pretty friendly, but it can now get hectic and a bit crowded on the weekend (still seems weird to say that for a guy that grew up in this area). Some might qualify it as a dive bar, but I just see it as your classic neighborhood hang out that thankfully survives into the 21st-century.

Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the building, the upstairs seating area is only accessible by stairs. Quaint, charming café that serves lunchtime treats, coffee, and pastries. The hot cocoa is divine! I really like the literary/"dark academia" vibes and decor, as well as the many cute birdie knick-knacks roosting about the space. Service was friendly and unrushed, I felt free to linger and enjoy at my leisure. I will make it a point to stop in here whenever I pass through Port Huron! I dropped in during the week and there was zero-wait for a table, although I imagine the place probably bustles on weekends!

It's a cute place with a cool theme and is likely great for neighborhood folks who have their regular orders and stop in since it's close. Cons: I felt the place could have used a detailed cleaning. They brought out my friend's salad with *completely brown/gray avocado* on it. And when I say completely gray, I mean completely. Why it left the kitchen and made it to the table is a mystery. We addressed it with the server. Server was nice, but seemed perhaps not as informed about details of menu and drinks. I ordered the peanut butter mocha, but tasted no PB at all. I drank it all - it wasn't that big of a deal, but I agree with other reviews; iced coffee drinks are a touch weak. Pros: Staff was friendly. Cozy atmosphere. Nice size menu. Rest of what we all ordered was good.

Went down there on Feb 29/24, lights off, doors locked, no 'back' entrance that I could see. I called their number, it went to a MITEL ANSWERING SYSTEM, and am still awaiting a callback. Today (Mar 1/24) I called their Toronto Queen and Hamilton numbers. All went to MITEL ANSWERING SYSTEM. Still no callback from ANY location. Am I really excluded from the LGBT community, or have they moved, or what?

I don't know if the DJ was the same but the music was awesome both of the times, keep the good work!!! The staff is friendly; the bartender told me Rye and ginger is the most drank combination, so when in Canada do as they, just watch out, tastes smoothly but hits you hard, well maybe after the 4th. This second time a guy had the amazing touch of sending me a drink (thank you!!). This time I arrived too early, people started showing up around 11:30. A bizarre anecdote: a lady approached me, booty bumped me, asked where I was from and left. A cool thing: while dancing a luchador appeared with lights in the shoes. For a moment I felt I was dancing in Playa del Carmen. I'll be back!!
