I was overall content with our move with Two Young Studs, though it was not without several big disappointments. They are a good value and generally took good care of our belongings. Our movers, Jeremy, Sam, and Joey, were all excellent and stepped up in unusual circumstances to make sure our move occurred. I cannot say enough good things about those three. My review gets lowered to a 3 star solely because of interactions with the management. Our movers apparently got assigned to complete another job before ours at the last minute. We got a call at 8pm the night before our 7am start time that our interstate move was being pushed back from 7am to 10am due to another quick job being added in the morning, which seemed fine. The movers finally arrived at 4pm, which was quite frustrating and had us moving until midnight when we were originally told we should be done around 3pm. The movers could tell we were unhappy about this and asked the manager to speak with me on the phone regarding the situation. He was immediately and consistently harsh, defensive, and inflammatory despite not at all being provoked. We likely will not use this company again due to the significantly delayed start time in combination with poor customer relations on the part of management. Unexpected things happen, and the delay would have been easy to move past had the manager just been understanding and polite about it. I would not use 2 Young Studs again and I don't know that I would recommend them to others. I had a local, cross town move in New Haven from a one-bedroom apartment to another larger unit. I was given an estimate of 2-3 hours, but the move ultimately took 4 and a half hours to complete. While there was some minor damage (a broken frame, banged up closet and dining room table), which I suppose is to be expected, and Chris knocked off $30, I was nevertheless deeply unimpressed with the level of preparation, attention and care of the movers as it came to packing the vehicle and maneuvering the items. Bottom line: it seemed like they had no idea what they were doing. It took me and my 75 year old father less than two hours to move the exact same amount of stuff... They seemed to spend most of their time trying to figure out what exactly to do with everything despite there not being much. Moreover, and while I am trying to be as sympathetic and understanding as possible, on what was the hottest day of the summer so far they brought neither drinks nor food to sustain themselves... I thought one of the movers who looked particularly unfit (2 Young Studs would be a misleading name for the company...) was going to keel over and pass out at one stage. It got to the point where I finally had to help them with moving things to push the process forward. Finally, despite having booked the move over two months ago and being the first customer for the time and slot, less than 24 hours before the move Chris called me to tell me we'd have to push the move to later in the day - while this was less bothersome in this instance as I was not on a tight schedule, I can imagine another customer might be unimpressed with the last minute change that occurred and subsequent inconvenience. Recently used this company. I was very unhappy with the movers they were unprofessional and kept forgetting to load my items on the truck leaving them in front of my house without my knowledge while they made a second trip to my new apt. I thank the good lord that my neighbors who know I am disabled which I also made that clear to the owner chris and his college movers who were very unexperienced. My items that were left on the sidewalk unattended that would have been stolen if I wasn't told. A small 2 bedroom apt 800 square feet. Should have not taken 13 hours including 2 trips. A job that was supposed to take 5-6 tops turned into a circus. They charge by the hour not flat rate. So beware of that. This was my first time using movers ever and if I ever move again I will never use this company. The movers didn't follow my specific directions leaving me and my family members very frustrated and Exhausted. Prior to this move. I already had been bringing most of the boxes weeks in advance. There wasn't much left to take. This should have been a 3 or 4 person moving job. The owner sent 2 college men that were very unexperienced and were struggling and kept stopping to take breaths and I provided them both with snacks and water. Because I knew that they were both nervous that they were going over the time limit. This was supposed to start at 7:30am it was delayed until 9:15am. It didn't end until 10pm. Which is outrageous if the owner sent more help it would have been a smooth job but instead he sent 2 men to take longer and so he can make more money. These men were being taken advantage of and its a shame. The owner Chris tried charging me a ridiculous amount over 2,000. I thought that was an absurd amount even after I already given my complaint. We discussed the importance of time management which was ignored in this move. Long story short and with the graces of god i did not end up paying that amount but a much lesser one. I was extremely disappointed with the service I received and even more so with the customer service/response to concerns I raised. First, the website is not clear at all how the additional charges work when a moving truck is included. It specifies labor rates for two people ($80/hour) and gives no amount of additional cost for a truck, which is required during busy times of the year. I was unpleasantly surprised by a significant per hour upcharge for the truck, which I was told was communicated to me clearly on the phone (it wasn't) and received no written confirmation of these rates via mail or email. I was also told on the phone that for the amount of possessions I needed moved, the entire process would take 2-3 hours, which I was prepared to pay for. In reality, despite the fact that I sold and gave away a significant portion of my furniture (two desks, an armchair, a couch, and multiple side tables), the move took 5 1/4 hours (basically double the original estimate), which I was charged the full amount for. On top of that, the movers were extremely inefficient at packing the truck - they had the same size truck I had used for a previous move but couldn't fit our things and actually had to leave multiple boxes, paintings, and a recliner behind. Had I allowed them to return for those things we're now probably looking at about a 6-6 1/2 hour move and an even higher final cost. I'll also add that my boyfriend was helping load and unload the truck throughout the process in order to decrease the amount of time and cost - he had to offer guidance multiple times on how to efficiently pack the truck so more of our belongings would fit. When the move concluded, we had to sign a contract verifying the amount of time (5 1/4 hours but SURPRISE I found out after the fact that they round to the nearest half hour so there's an additional $50 right there with no transparency) but they don't give you a copy of the final contract so there's another point of confusion and lack of record keeping. When I raised these concerns to management, they were rude and aggressively defensive. After confusion over what email address they use (by the way, check your spam because rather than sending from a business email it comes from a Yahoo personal email that is not affiliated with the name of the business), the manager gave no concessions that that experience is confusing and inconvenient for customers or that there will inevitably be miscommunications because of this. They confirmed that they did not in fact provide any written documentation of our original agreement for the move, the time commitment, and the rate, yet offered no acknowledgement to how unprofessional and untransparent that is and in fact dug in further that because we had one phone conversation, everything should have been clear and obvious. They offered to "try and find" the final contract to provide a copy (I'd like to double check if it's written anywhere that they round to the nearest half hour at the very least) but I won't hold my breath and have yet to see any documentation of this. Overall I'm very disappointed with the experience and complete lack of customer service. I guess if time, convenience, money, and any sort of paper trail are not important then by all means choose these people as your mover, but I will not be recommending them any time soon and will certainly never hire their services again. read more

I've used Chris and 2 Young Studs Moving twice now and both times have been amazed at how quick they work and how courteous they are.

I used their service two days ago. They arrived an hour and a half late. They did not protect my furniture, tv, mattress. My mattress was brand new and it looks as if it was dragged through the mud. TV has scratches, antique table has a deep scratch and missing finish, and the sleigh bed has been damaged. None of my items were protected. The next morning I texted the owner, Chris to let him know that I never received a copy of the fully executed agreement (which means null & void in the state of CT), I never received their insurance information, and they charged me for an extra 1.5 hours when it should have been one hour. They told me that I could not use my credit card and had to Venmo them. At the end of the day, the owner accused me of using the insurance as financial gain, called the Dept of Consumer Protection where my Real Estate license is, called my former broker, and the local board of Realtors trying to get me in "trouble." First, my career has nothing to do with this move nor were they contracted to move any real estate related items. He sent me harassing text messages where I had to block him, and said the he is great at this and to let him know if I wanted to continue...with what I have no idea. Needless to say, I am contacting the BBB and spreading this warning to anyone whom needs a moving company. I used 2 young studs movers and they were great! I was so shocked to read bad reviews because I had a wonderful experience! Chris got back to me every time I called! I had to change my move date a few times and he was very accommodating! They showed up a tad late but they let me know ahead and to be honest it worked in my favor because we were behind! The move went very smooth, nothing damaged and the movers went above and beyond! It was an extremely hot summer day and they really expedited the move so as not to cause us more stress in the heat! These guys are amazing. We hired a three-man crew and two trucks for a move than included overnight storage. We did a buy-sell on the same day so we had to be out the night before. I don't care what any of the negative comments say, these guys are first class, top notch professionals! We have come to expect really bad service in just about every interaction these days - restaurants, banks, utilities, you name it - but the Studs buck the trend here. In addition to the fact that they were moving our stuff in the pouring rain without one single complaint, the guys were solid dudes - really nice, well-mannered, good guys. One of them was on his third move of the day and was as nice as they come! Do yourself a favor and treat them like the professionals they are. Have snacks and water for them, and tip them well - they'll work hard for you. Everyone was right on time, as agreed, and our family couldn't be happier. They showed up 6 hours late, which is typical for them, got here with NO moving equipment, they left without giving me back the spare key to my apartment which cost me $150 to replace and never returned my calls about the key, and in the end the bill was way more than they first told me. We were only moving from one floor to another in the same building. There were lots of other problems, all with the manager, not the workers, but I won't bore you with them. . NIGHTMARE!!! NO vetting or training of movers, hostile owner, and THOUSANDS of dollars in damage to my furniture. I had a hard time finding anything that WASN'T damaged. I have moved about 15 times with all sorts of companies and this is the worst experience I have ever had. It is hard to describe head to toe dysfunction of 2YSM. I was scheduled for a 7 AM move. When I called at 7:30 I was told they were running behind... OK, fine-stuff happens. They arrived at 9:30. Three guys worked well for an hour. Realized I need a second truck, so as they worked that out, I went to get them food. One mover quit while I was gone... It was his first day and he told the others that the company was so unprofessional that he cannot work for them (he had previous experience working for 1-800-got -junk). Chris arrives and is shockingly rude. I tried to ask him to schedule a follow-up move for next week and we could just proceed with the one truck, but he just snaps at me and won't let me speak to him. Stud #4 for arrives. Also his first day... I spoke to the crew and apparently Chris just hires random people and sees who will show up that day. No vetting whatsoever (in terms of training OR criminal background). Stud #4 was supposed to drive the truck, but overhear Chris asking him if he has a drivers license. You'd think he would check that beforehand, no? So another stud leaves. Stud #5 shows up....he has a driver's license, but has never moved furniture or driven a truck in his life. -I'm paying the three-person rate , even though the third guy (w/ no experience) sits there watching the other two guys the whole time - new guy has also never driven a truck, so we have to take back roads the whole way (adding another 20 minutes and causing damage to my furniture w/ stops and starts) - the ramp on one truck would not work, so they had to get the furniture off by handing it off the truck (taking 4x as long...and I am paying by the hour) - DAMAGE TO 80% OF MY FURNITURE. They had just thrown it all in without any padding or anything. - one of the large corner bracket to my bed was lost and we could not replace it - had to throw the entire bed away (which was a year old). - one leg of my TV stand is broken off, so that goes to the dump also. - Dents and scratches ON EVERYTHING. Huge crack in one of my dining room chairs, HUGE scratch across the top of a dining room table. - moved in the base of a heavy armoir with the drawers upside down, so had to hire someone else later to put it right side up. Afterwards Chris was hostile, aggressive and basically told me everything was my fault. He knocked off $200 or so (which wouldn't even cover damage to one piece). It's been a long time since I wrote a review but this one definitely merits it. Moving is extremely stressful but I can tell you that these folks -- especially Jeremy and Charles -- are absolutely professional, masters at their job, efficient with time, and super friendly to boot. They moved some really heavy items down some very narrow and forbidding steps with alacrity. They packed up the truck amazingly, I don't think I've ever seen anything like this, and I have moved A LOT. They took super good care of my things, and dealt with grace and professionalism when some irritating snafus totally out of their control came up at the storage facility. They carefully followed all my specific instructions about where to put some items in the storage unit (so that I could have easy access). I would have been fine with a just "ok" move but this was above and beyond. I hope I can get these two to help me every time I move!! read more

This was the WORST moving company! ...and I've had a lot of experience with all my children in and out of colleges and apartments. Chris took my money, was 3 hours late, sent 2 kids over who had absolutely NO equipment to move so it took all afternoon. The kids were great I felt sorry for them. He sent over a 1 bedroom truck when I made it CRYSTAL CLEAR it was a 2 bedroom apartment. They couldn't fit everything in the truck. Then he wouldn't answer my phone calls. I've never written a negative review, but wanted to warn the public about this very inexperienced and unprofessional company. Christopher Monks was very nice until I called him about all the damage. He took no responsibility at all. This is the first time with 2 studs but the third time we hired a moving company to load a truck that we drove ourselves, and the only time we had any major damage. Dimitri, who did the actual moving, also knew full well that we needed to pack the truck to travel 1,000 miles, yet our items were packed with inexperience and just plain recklessness. Dimitri kept reassuring us, "don't worry, I got you. I know what I'm doing". Chris told me when I called him to report damage due to bad packing that Dimitri was his best. Wow! Dimitri bragged so much he had us fooled and unfortunately we over tipped him and his helper, $60 each on total bill of $340. Our regret. The unpacking movers on the other end that I hired for a third time were very professional. They said they had never seen any packing job as bad as ours from two studs. (They took pictures of how not to pack for their fb forum.) I have pictures of a metal box on top of a vintage wood table, with no padding though we provided plenty. Heavy dressers sitting on end with the drawers facing the wrong way so when we would brake the truck they banged open. And boxes stacked floor to ceiling with clearly marked boxes glass/fragile on bottom and cast iron pots on top. One of our couches has the wooden support broken because they hung it by the legs on the metal rail of the truck. Dimitri was more concerned with packing everything in tight than protecting our furniture and belongings. We already have a long list of sedamaged wood, broken beyond repair items and haven't even opened all the boxes marked fragile yet. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I cannot attest to the 5 star reviews, however, all the 1 star reviews have a very common theme and are the exact same situation I'm going through. I talked to Chris on the phone and we set up a move, he let me know that if I would like to pay for everything before the move that I would receive a discounted rate, so I gave him my credit card information. I was not sent a written contract like a normal moving company would have. According to his website "All serious inquiries will be followed up with an in-home estimate where Chris can assess the goods that the customer is looking to move", this never happened. The movers were supposed to come at 1pm...they didn't show up until 6pm (I can understand being a couple hours late, but not 5 hours). Not only that, but they showed up with a truck too small for the job with limited tools to aide in the moving process. Also, the Customer Acknowledgment form the movers presented had been previously filled out with another individual's information. I was told to just cross out their information and squeeze my initials/signature onto this unprofessional contract. When I called Chris to let him know my displeasure, he immediately became hostile and tried to allude that this is what I had paid for. The movers (who were great) could only fit half of my stuff into the truck and didn't finish unpacking until late, which my new neighbors were not pleased about. I called my credit card company the next day to dispute the claim on the grounds of dissatisfied service (the job I paid for was not finished). When they contacted Chris to let him know about the dispute, he began to text seemingly threatening things to me. He then charged my card again, WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE/CONSENT which is fraud/theft. I won the first dispute because he never even bothered to contact my credit card company, most likely because he knew that he was in the wrong and had nothing to back up his outrageous claims. Whatever you do, choose another company. If you are able to have a smooth move with this company, I am happy for you. But is it really worth the risk? Scheduled a 2PM move, got to 2:30, nobody showed up so we called. Guy answering the phone was extremely rude. "We are running several hours behind. Don't you understand what several means? Not a couple, not a few, but SEVERAL house behind. We will be lucky to see you by 7PM tonight." We put a $390 deposit down to reverse a time and a date and you can't even call to tell us you are late or apologize? Awful business practices. No apology. No sympathy. Awful. Then he hung up on my husband we he called back to cancel the appoint. (Still haven' received refund back) Then instead of calling us back to speak like a real man or owner. HE TEXTED paragraphs to my phone explaining why he was right. We were too busy loading up the UHAUL we had to rent and fill by ourselves. I will never use this company again, and definitely will not recommend them to friends or family. My initial move date was scheduled for a Friday, but was moved back to the following Monday at 2 p.m. due to a bad rain storm. I was told by Chris the rescheduled time would by on Monday around 2 pm. I called that Monday at 3 pm and Chris said they were running behind, that was all well and good. The movers arrived at 3:38 pm, but no one called from the company to advise of an eta. I asked the movers for a receipt and they told me to call the office. I called Chris and asked for a receipt and was told the incoming calls cost him money (rude). Funny how the initial call didn't cost money to make the appointment! I sent Chris a text with my email and mailing address for the receipt, and it's been over a week and still NO receipt. This company purposely moves slow so that you pay more per hour. I heard this also from another customer after I moved. They damaged and lost things. Then the owner rudely hung up on me when I made complaints. He stated I was speaking over him which I was not because I couldn't even get a word He did eventually give me an hour worth of time back but that was after taking seven hours for a projected four hour move. I will not recommend this mover to anyone, after I used its service yesterday (July 2, 2022): - Moving operation went wrong: I have a sofa which I loved. I should admit that it was not easy to get it into the apartment but our mover last July got it done properly. The crew from 2 Young Stud arrived today to help us to move out and I told them about the sofa. They assured that since it was able to be moved in, they should be able to move it out as well, but it turned out that they could not. At the end, I cut three legs off the sofa to get it out. Suggestion: this is not a capable team at its profession; consider a move as a journey, and the journey may have bumps or turns, you do not want to travel with them. - Management/operation scheduling inefficient: we scheduled the move at 12:00 pm but then they called at 8am Saturday on whether we could change to 8am. So if you want a more predictable company, this is not one. My wife told them the destination but they misunderstood (they said) and sent a small truck and planned to go two times--they charge by hours and this would be clearly beneficial to them but not the customers. At the end, their truck would not fit and I needed to help them to put some of their loading equipment into my car. Suggestion: if you are looking for a well operated company, this may not be one. - Customer care is chilling: it turned out that the crew was very careful to take photos, without informing me, when I was cutting a sofa leg, and sent the photo to the owner. I can understand that this was for legal protection. I wish that the informed owner should think customers first and react by suggesting/advising the crew how to find a solution--after all, your peer did it but 2 Young Stud cannot, and if I were the owner, I would be embarrassed. Instead, they literally just watch and record (secretly) their customer, taking an action of their suggestion, because of their failures. Two Young Stud does not even set up an infrastructure to help its own crew to learn and do a better job--I blame low moving capability at the company, not the crew. It is ironic that the company site says it is customer first. On the other hand, during the loading, I went to the market cross the street to buy drinks and food for the crew; after loading, since I would be faster to arrive at the destination, I asked each of the crew details to select from the full menu his choice of food at Panera bread, I paid for them, drove to Panera bread to pick up the food for them. I was upset at the end, but I gave the crew reasonable tips still and I signed off the contract at the end. In late afternoon, the more I thought about it, the more I felt not right. I called the owner and said that I would ask my wife to held on or decline the payment unless the owner would call me. My intention was to discuss how to best handle such issues such as a hotline. The owner called me back. In a short 4-min talk, the owner (Chris) (1) made ridiculing comments that I cut the legs myself, (2) made threatening statements that he would sue me; and (3) dropped f*** words. Conclusion: if you want a customer first company, think twice; if you are a nice person (e.g., try to buy lunch and pick up by yourself for your mover), and think others reciprocate, think twice; if you find the following image chilling, think twice: a company could not do its job, suggest a fix (cutting the legs, even how long, how to choose nails), then said they had no saw, you followed, they secretly videotaped, and then owner ridiculed "your odd decisions"; if you are not comfortable with aggression against you when just a single, short customer service/feedback call by you will quickly result in verbal and text litigation threats against you, think twice. At the end, I want to emphasize that the crew are nice, friendly human beings! The operation and the customer care attitude of the company, however, are below the bar. First off, the guys that this company sent out, Troy and Ralph, did a remarkable job of moving my entire apartment quickly, efficiently, and with such professionalism and friendliness! I would certainly hire them for my next move and would hope that all their movers are this great! These 5 stars are definitely well deserved by these guys. Second, when calling to inquire about their service, I gave a pretty descriptive breakdown of what I needed moved and was given the time and manpower estimated that would be needed. The estimation was right on the dot accurate and they charged exactly what was estimated. While this company was slightly more expensive than what others estimated, the peace of mind that this company offered and the great job that the movers did made it well worth it! read more

Never use this moving company. I had so many problems with them, I understand things happen that are out of the companies control and I was very flexible with them. When I called to express my concerns, the owner was very rude and not professional. He interrupted me and said "can you get to the point" in a very stern nasty voice. If you try to express any concern, he will cancel the job on you. Chris, the owner, was so disrespectful to me on the phone. Ive never been spoken to like that by an owner. It was very unprofessional. I felt so bad for the workers, they did a great job! Again, do not use this moving service. The owner is nasty and has no customer service. No customer should ever be screamed at for expressing concerns. When you pay for a job, you should be able to have an input. If I could give them no stars that would have been what I would have entered. This company is not a moving company but rather provides individuals who can move items but have NO EXPERIENCE regarding basic moving procedures. They did not use any moving blankets on ANY furniture that need protection including my expensive, antique secretary. They also did not secure the doors or even checked them. When they arrived at the location that it was to be delivered to, the rest of the items were moved out of the truck, but at the very end, the movers asked me for duck tape. I thought it was odd, but gave them two rolls of what I had. They then left rather quickly and I also had to leave. The next morning I saw that the bottom doors and front of the secretary were taped with a ton of duck tape and that the shelves were not put back in. When I removed the tape - there was damage on the finish and the hinge was broken so that the door now fell off. I was so angry that not only did they damage the furniture but they tried to hide the damage as well. When I contacted Chris, the owner, he said that the damage wasn't much and he couldn't understand why I was saying that the secretary was ruined. Chris said he had to talk to the movers -- he then told me that they said that I was suppose to lock the doors on the secretary and when they got to the last location they needed the tape (which they got from me) to tape the door. If that was the case, why didn't they ask for the key from me? And would you put duck tape and I am talking about lots of it all over the front of the secretary????? Wouldn't you be concerned that might also damage the finish? In addition, other items had scratches. I left the first location at the same time as the moving truck and they arrived almost an half hour after me -- and then charged me additional money for more time. When I originally booked this "moving company", I told them I needed the move done in the morning. Chris said they would be there by noon. Well they didn't show up until after 1: 30 pm. The move was a DISASTER and I am still very angry with the fact that the one piece of furniture that I told them was valuable was handled with no protection and damaged. Chris ultimately gave me a very small refund that in no way came close to the damage done nor compensated for the poor service. I ASKED about insurance and I was told yes everything was insured -- but I was never told it was 0.60 per lb that the item weighs. So that means if they think your item weighs 10 lbs you get $6 dollars. Also they never gave me a contract until I started the complaint ...... Also the final cost was MORE THAN THE MOVING COMPANY that I had contacted originally. You would be better off hiring a real moving company or hiring your own "studs" who you can be sure will provide the care you would expect and getting a UHAUL. Oh lord where to start.... I was made to sign paperwork before they even touched a piece of furniture that stated I was satisfied with the service or they would have left without moving anything. (Remember your deposit is non refundable!) Yes, I have some heavy furniture but this is what they signed up for when they chose this line of work rite? If it's to heavy we just let it go and drop it or drag it? Let's not use any moving blankets or any protective covers for anything even though I provided blankets to them. Let me tell you I do not have one piece of furniture now that does not have a single scratch or gouge taken out of it. Some of the scratches are little and others are from them dragging it on the ground. Oh let's not forget the floors, I just purchased my house and the floors are beautiful no scratches nothing, let's fast forward not even 12 hours later when this moving company delivered my furniture they are scratches gouged and just depressingly not what they should still be! I have covers over my mattress and box spring (white) they now have many black dirt? Grease? Some kind of black stuff all over them it is absolutely disgusting I now need to purchase new enclosures. I have a new washer and dryer the washer is now garbage they broke it and it's now leaking. The trim on the door they used to bring everything in has gouges taken out of it. As the issues were arising I called Chris "the owner" who said I will call you back he must have called the guys because they ran around looking at everything and grabbing paper towels with water and wiping everything sending pictures. Let me tell you this made the movers even more aggressive with my belongings. Chris called back and said all of the damage has been resolved it was "surface scratches" I asked about the wall that the corner was taken out from them dragging the furniture around it and the small holes in the walls as well as the scratches. He stated there was not much damage and he would just take the last hour off of the bill.... It only went over by a hour because the workers took breaks like a old woman having bladder issues while being on FaceTime texting and taking phone calls while they were supposed to be moving my furniture. There were not many pieces to move and they took much longer than they should have. If you choose 2 young studs (NOT STUDS BTW) this is what you have to look forward to Floor, wall, trim, furniture damage my dresser drawers do not even open or close properly after them dropping the dresser. Them dragging the time out to extend the time for you to have to pay extra. Do not expect them to treat your belongings like their own or to even have the slightest respect for them or you for that matter. Chris the owner will not take any responsibility for his team's actions and tell you you have no "proof" of this being their fault and he is a master at court and very proud peacock about being in peoples court and having many court cases going on rite now and being very well versed on the court system. Save yourself the headache, stress and money and go for a more reputable company and maybe pay a bit more upfront for a better outcome. Choose a different moving company. The 5 star and completely positive reviews must be from the owners friends and family because even dealing with him is a issue. Would give no stars if I could. read more

Nice guys. Packed the truck well. It was a bit crazy how slow they worked. My 60-year old dad and I would have been much faster. But, so it goes. I'd recommend negotiating a flat rate, otherwise you'll end up paying more than you had hoped. EDITS: I think these guys are overworked. They had a job prior to mine, and were also told that they might have another after. No lunch break, even though I offered. This all may have affected their speed. Moving from a 10 room house to a 1 bedroom apartment was a challenge. I didn't need to move appliances and furniture was kept to a minimum. The bulk of items was boxed items. I had 2 absolutely great guys who worked practically non-stop from 9 in the morning to 6 in the evening. They blanket and mobile wrapped all furniture and bubble wrapped lamps. I would use 2 Young Studs Moving again and I'd most definitely recommend them to anyone. read more

Avoid at all costs. Chris is nice to you until you make the deposit payment, and does a complete flip the second you do. He is inflexible, vindictive, poorly responsive, and just downright awful in dealing with the customers. Just reading his replies to reviews on here should give you a good idea of the type of service you get from him. You will save a small amount of money going with them over actual professional movers (there are only a few in new haven unfortunately), but I'd strongly suggest moving yourself and saving even more money than hiring studs moving, unless you just want to have the most atrocious moving experience of your life. Or better still, pay a little bit more, and hire a professional mover instead. read more

Nick and Charles were kind, personable young men who worked hard through out the move to make the day go by quick and uneventful- and believe me it was no easy feat moving my Moms stuff out of a cramped, dusty apartment she lived in for the last 25 years! I recently was moving my son in the new haven area to another apt in the city. It was a move that I needed to get done quickly and professionally. From my very first call to 2 young studs ( have to say the name was what drew me in!) lol I spoke with the owner Chris who could not have been more accommodating for everything I asked. I was at complete ease with out ever even meeting in person that was a great way to start. So after booking in very short notice like 12 hours he sent me 2 young studs for sure Brandon B and Angelo. The guys were pleasant professional and strong! They also made me feel at complete ease with everything. I left them to do three thing and met them at the new location when they called. They were confident and professional throughout it all. Answered even the silliest of questions without any hesitation. Although they were more expensive, I went with 2 Young Studs because when I spoke to, Chris, who I am assuming was the owner on the phone, he seemed extremely organized and promised me that they would be there at 1pm as I was on a tight schedule. 1:30pm rolls around, no sign of anyone. I called Chris, who told me that he had forgotten to schedule the move and someone would be "right over". Fast forward 1.5 hours later, the 2 movers showed up. Towards the end of the move, I asked Chris if he would consider a small discount because of his mistake and he was rude, and belligerent and said absolutely not. I would highly recommend going with another moving group. I've never been treated so poorly or had such poor customer service. Also, they made a huge hassle out of paying with a credit card, a bit ridiculous when you're dealing with a $520 bill for a 4 hour move. I ended up having to pay cash. These guys were right on time and so so so helpful with my move!! Did literally everything for me and didn't let me even lift a finger (which I loved)! I had a great experience with 2 Young Studs. I had the first move of the day, so I suspect that probably helped, but they were prompt and excellent. And super affordable. The two movers I had were Josh and... I want to say... Winston? Something like that. They were friendly and agreeable and kicked serious ass. Though Josh likes pretty fufu coffee drinks, but I didn't mind grabbing him one was he was great. Also, he's really into Matchbox 20. Seriously? I kid, I kid. You shouldn't judge your movers on their poor musical taste, tempting as it might be. They slammed out the job super fast and even did a great job trying to protect my recently refinished hardwood floors. Would definitely recommend. Scheduled for 12:00 but no one showed up. Called Chris and he said trucks break down, other moves take longer. Just wait. At 2:00 I called again; he wouldn't answer. I called at 3:00 and also wouldn't answer. Called 10 times and he finally answered. Chris gave me an attitude. Got the take it or leave it - "I don't need your business" as a response as he talked over me and said I'll cancel the move if you keep it up. The movers called me at 3:30 and said they are 1 1/2 hours away in New York. They finally showed up 5 hours late. They said their truck is a piece of junk and their boss sucks.
