I have been hearing the hype about this place many times and I finally tried it today while visiting Temecula for the weekend. The food was just decent. I would give it to 3/5. I ordered the Carnitas Chilaquiles and I felt that it could have better flavor and I felt that it was just too many chips and not enough meat. For my drink, I ordered the mocktail dragon drink not quite sure of the name lol but this definitely was a 5/5 it was very refreshing and delicious! I recommend this drink to order off top! The service was a 4/5 we started off with someone else covering from someone that was on lunch break, and he was very good, but then when she returned, she was not that attentive and took a very long time to come back to our table . However, the ambience is very upbeat and very live and nice. I went to 1909 for Sunday Brunch this past weekend and really enjoyed the food. I'd recommend making a reservation or arriving a little early, as there was a line forming at one point. We sat outside on the patio, which was mostly shaded--definitely a plus. I ordered the classic Bloody Mary, which I really liked. It was well-balanced and not too overpowering. The fresh oysters were also good--clean, fresh, and not fishy at all. For my main, I had the Mediterranean salad and the shrimp & crab empanadas. The salad was just okay for me--not much to write home about--but it was a large portion, and I barely made a dent in it. The shrimp & crab empanadas were the standout. 1909 from the main street of Old Town was always full of patrons so I always wondered how the food was. I finally got to dine-in with some friends who were visiting SoCal so I was excited to try a popular eatery in the area with them. They had an extensive drink menu, and so I tried their Kyoto Kiss cocktail which was 4/5; perfectly good with lychee, strawberry, and slight carbonation from the Sprite. Our group shared the Korean Fried Chicken and I thought that was the best thing we've ordered (5/5). There was plenty left over even for four people and the chicken was nice and crispy, with a bit of tangy teriyaki bbq-like sauce over it. The main I ordered was the Rustic Chicken & Risotto (3.5/5). It wasn't bad, but maybe I expected more from the chicken and how it was prepared? It was a bit on the boring side. The risotto was okay, I expected more cheese like a gratin made with rice or the Japanese equivalent "Doria" but got a creamy rice instead. Overall, based on what I've heard and the foot traffic I've seen, I definitely expected more from 1909. We did not make a reservation and it was really busy on Valentine's day but it was only about a 15 min wait at 11:30am. It took about 35-40 minutes for food to come out maybe because it was so busy. They only have black coffee so no lattes or teas. Seems like they specialize more in alcoholic drinks. We ordered the fried chicken benedict, birria skillet, and bananas foster french toast. It was a lot of food but the only dish that stood out for me was the birria skillet. It was flavorful and the potatoes were good. The fried chicken benedict had very little seasoning and I kept having to dump hot sauce on it. The bread under it was super mushy and had a strange texture. I did enjoy the sauce for the French toast. I could taste the rum but I would have preferred more banana and some ice cream. You might get sick of eating the large pieces of bread because it's not crispy and lacking texture, but overall the food was fine. Dining at 1909 was my highlight of my weekend in Temecula. They are open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekends. I have noticed this restaurant many times, there has aways been a line waiting for a table. I put my name on the list for lunch, which would be 45 minutes. There are two patios and an indoor dining room equipped with several tables, two long tables for groups of 10+ or more and nice comfy bar stools at the bar. The bar seating is on a first come-first served basis, if you can find a seat. The hostess mentioned, I could buy a drink or food at the bar and sit by the hostess station while I wait for my table. That was very helpful information and convenient since 45 minutes is a long time to stand in the ever-growing wait line that was snaking around the corner. I went inside and noticed someone leaving, I was able to snag a seat at the bar. Adrian was my bartender and very helpful and friendly. I ordered a mango hard cider and a Reuben Sando, which came with fries. Then, I noticed the Carnivore on the menu ... this is a hefty Bloody Mary. $19 was worth it, the garnish included: two Chicken Wings, Bacon, Cubed Harvati Jack Cheese, an Olive and Peppercini on a Skewer. Plus a stick of beef jerky. What, no celery? I didn't need it, lol. Sunday morning is my perferred time for a Spicy Bloody Mary. If Bacon is involved, count me in!! They only prepare 20 of these per day, do not hesitate to place your order for it. My Reuben sandwich was like a double-decker filled with their house-cured corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese on marble rye bread. I ate 1/4 and took the rest home for my lunch on Monday. It's a sweet deal when you buy one meal and there's enough for two people or two meals for one price. Get on the wait list, it is worth the wait. Great vibe, service and delicious food! My experience at 1909 in Temecula was deeply concerning and highlighted what I believe to be a serious failure in customer care and safety awareness. Over the weekend (June 6th) I was dining outside with a group of approximately fifteen people, and around 10:00 p.m a physical fight broke out only about 10 feet away from our table. The incident was alarming and unsettling. As a patron, witnessing violence in such close proximity naturally created fear and concern for my personal safety and the safety of those in my group. What was most disappointing was not the fight itself, as businesses cannot always control the actions of every customer, but rather the response from the staff and management. When I expressed concern to our server(blondish curly hair female), I was told that "fights happen here all the time." That response was shocking and provided no reassurance whatsoever. Instead of acknowledging the seriousness of the situation or checking on guests who had just been exposed to a violent altercation, the comment normalized the behavior and dismissed legitimate safety concerns. I then requested to speak with a manager. The first manager who came to our table (male, shaggy blackish upper cheek bone length hair, older, Caucasian) would not provide his name, offered no apology, and showed no concern for the impact the incident had on our dining experience. There was no attempt to reassure guests, address the situation professionally, or acknowledge that customers had just been exposed to a frightening and disruptive event. Fortunately, another manager, Evan, later came to speak with us. Evan was the only person who demonstrated empathy and professionalism. He acknowledged that the situation was upsetting, offered reassurance, and took the time to listen to my concerns. He also chose to comp a portion of the bill ($19), which, while appreciated, was not really the issue. The issue was safety, accountability, and customer care. Restaurants have a responsibility to create an environment where patrons feel safe. While no establishment can prevent every incident, management can absolutely control how they respond when violence occurs. Guests who express fear or concern deserve to be heard, acknowledged, and treated with respect. Dismissing concerns or acting as though violent incidents are routine is unacceptable. I appreciate Evan's professionalism, but the overall response from the server and initial manager left me with serious concerns about how customer safety concerns are handled at this establishment. read more

We were seated outside by the street, which can get really noisy at night but I don't mind that. I really enjoyed the shrimp & chorizo. It was really hearty and the flavors were so good! The sea bass was okay, I didn't taste any lemon or ginger in the dish which leads me to think they just forgot it because ginger is not a flavor that you can easily miss. They had an event in the back of the restaurant while I was there so it was a bit crowded with people walking past to arrive to it.
