    Deviled eggs

The lighting is low and very private. The wait staff must go through extensive training. They all work together in sync. Top notch service!!! The artichokes were absolutely divine! Arrived at the table still on fire!! Deviled eggs we're great but $14 for 4, kinda crazy nothing super memorable. The steak noodle salad was HUGE and plenty to share. The steak was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. Shrimp & Grits were a huge surprise. They were exceptional. Shrimp weren't overcooked at all, which is unique and nice. Grits were creamy, well seasoned and the sliced asparagus in the creamy gravy was almost too good to swallow. All together, seasoned perfectly!. Will 100% get again.

Very fancy dining spot that's great for birthdays or dates! Quick seating for our group of 6 on a Sunday night. The restaurant was very dark, tables being lighted by a single light atop and a candle. Not my favorite setup but I guess it's for the romance? The menu was pretty small, mostly seafood and the occasional burger. Higher prices than an Applebees but you're also paying for better quality food "fresh never frozen" I got the slow roasted chicken over smashed potatoes, it was humongous, like they plated me the whole bird! The sauce was delicious, as were the potatoes. My plate came to $30 Our server Johnny (?) was great! VERY informed on the menu, read us off a whole list of specials that aren't listed on their main menu. Gave us great recommendations, checked on us a lot, loved empty plates out of the way when needed, and was keeping our waters filled! Thank you Johnny!

Passing through Asheville, we chose 131 as our lunch destination and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is set in Biltmore Park. The inside is very dimly lit but each table was well lite overhead so you could read the menu and see your food. Each server we came in contact with were extremely professional and extremely helpful. But we're here for the food review!!! It was scrumptious!! We ordered the Thai Salad special and the Cheese Burger. Both were phenomenal. Side note I also had the tea which was some of the best I've had in a long time. No matter which 131 you go to you will see the quality in all aspects of your experience.

Went for the first time last night with no expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. Service was as good as any I have experienced in the Asheville area. Local trout was perfectly presented. Not a kale and quinoa guy so they cheerfully substituted a wedge salad -- probably the second best one I have ever had. Good wine selection. Only negative was that a substantial percentage of customers were dressed for Walmart. Guess I am old fashioned about social mores.

Belated review. First time there for my husband's birthday dinner in February. Can't say enough good - Service was outstanding. Smoked salmon appetizer, filet, grouper - all excellent. Was very pricey, so will likely only go back for special occasions.

Everything was done well, food, drinks and service. Can't think of anything that could've been done better. Planned to go to the restaurant next door but they were booked and not exactly welcoming or accommodating. 131 was recommended by the Hilton, so on a busy Saturday night we went, they were booked but offered for us to wait in the bar and put us on the wait list. 25 minutes later they called us. Waiting in the bar was nice with outside seating and fire pits. The 131 maniac is a very good drink Servers were very attentive and friendly. Appetizers were cornbread and Ahi tuna, both were excellent. Main course was trout for me and shrimp and grits for my wife. The trout was exceptional. A lot of words but the take away is: go here, they try hard to please and are successful.

Best cornbread ever! Fresh, hot, sweat and fluffy!

What a great place! Megg waited on us outside and we started dinner w a great Malbec and their special cornbread. I know if sounds funny but u hVe to try it! Comes w honey or ask for a little butter but it is the best! Took the rest home for breakfast ;) we then had the salmon with red mashed potatoes and also had the ribeye w red mashed potatoes. Both were fabulous. Ended w smiles and very full belly's. Really nice ambiance w a romantic air, very comfortable seating and room to talk in confidence! Loved it!

What I Ordered: - danish baby back ribs - cast iron cornbread Scores (1 = poor, 10 = excellent): Food Quality: 8.5/10 Service: 9/10 Ambience: 7/10 Value: 7/10 Overall Experience: 7.5/10 Must Get(s): - cast iron cornbread (in photo) *ask for honey & butter on the side* Avoid: - deviled eggs *my friend got them and he felt ripped off compared to the other menu items for the same price; there are better options* Quick Take: Ribs: would recommend. The sauce is tangy and it's not drenched in it which is always good. It's a large portion of food, especially considering the two additional sides. The price is reasonable, not a steal and not highway robbery. *you can switch out the sides for the other available options* Cornbread: get it. That's it. Just buy and don't look back. Ambiance: This place reminded me of a J Alexander's clone if you've ever been. Nicer upscale vibes but not too upper crust to be intimidating by any means. Any sort of informal attire is fine.

    Cowboy salad very delicious

Very nice setting, a bit loud, but who am I to complain about everyone having a great time and meal. The cast iron skillet cornbread is amazing, has some jalapeño in it, with honey to drizzle on top. Grilled trout from the menu might be the best trout I've had anywhere.

I found Chestnut on Yelp and decided to wander in. The space has this elevated modern rustic vibe with a southern twist and a little bit of sass. They even sell shirts that say neither hoity nor toity, which cracked me up. Honestly, the atmosphere was great, but our waitress was the real star. She was absolutely phenomenal and looked after us perfectly. My palate was pretty fried, so I started with a Bloody Mary to wake up. Truth be told, it was just okay. The house mix had an odd flavor that nobody at the table could quite identify, and it seriously lacked spice. It was just kinda bland. I noticed a bottle of Firewalker hot sauce on the table, and splashing that in helped a little bit. After that, I transitioned to a mimosa. You really cannot mess up a mimosa too much, and it was a solid, reliable second drink. For the main event, I ordered the southern chicken and waffles. This came with a fried chicken breast sitting on golden malted waffles, smothered in sausage gravy, and drizzled with chipotle honey. It was a really great dish. The kitchen did a solid job with the fry on the chicken, and the gravy had a nice flavor. It leaned a little on the sweet side because of the honey, but it was not totally overdone. The real sleeper hit of the morning, though, was the side of cheesy grits. Those grits were absolute heaven. They were incredibly creamy and perfectly seasoned. If you go, you have to order them. Chestnut is in a great location, and despite the weak Bloody Mary, it was a stellar visit.

I'm here for my eldest son's birthday and of course our first dinner here, with his wonderful group of friends would of course be at The Admiral Restaurant; most likely the best restaurant in town. I've been to The Admiral several times before, so I'm making this review an updated version of just how good a place can still hold its reputation. For a restaurant so damn good, there is nothing fancy about it. It's set up like a small town diner; and that's what makes it so much comfortable. The service is spot on and their menu has so many wonderful choices at not "break the bank" prices. Us six diners ordered: * Caesar salad - for a southern restaurant making a Caesar this good, it was enchanting! It had Croutons, Parmesan and Anchovy * Ribeye Steak - see above accolade! With tallow confit potatoes, glazed carrots, chimichurri, goat cheese * Cheeseburger with fries - a mile high beauty with Cheddar, Dijonnaise, B&B Pickles, grilled Onion, and fries - was enchanting * Beef Tartare - with chile aioli, mustard seed, chive, ramp, black garlic, egg yolk * Smoked Trout Mantecato had black pepper-parmesan toast, Furikake, yuzu tobik * Airliner Chicken Breast with crispy red rice, tomatoes, romano beans, herb Every dish above was excellent. I was in communication with Lindsay for over four months while exploring options for hosting my wedding dinner in their private dining space. Every question I had--no matter how detailed or repetitive--was answered with patience and care. She made herself available through all my moments of uncertainty, which, as any out-of-state bride can attest, is invaluable. When we finally visited in person, Lindsay went above and beyond by accommodating us outside of regular scheduling. Her attentiveness and warmth never wavered. Planning a wedding from afar can feel overwhelming, but having someone like her in your corner brings a level of reassurance that cannot be overstated. Dinner itself was nothing short of exceptional. I asked the hostess about it, and they said they could add a candle to a dessert if we purchased one. I was a little surprised by that, especially considering we were spending around $200 on the meal. Even just a simple birthday greeting from the staff would have been a nice touch and made the experience feel more special. One other note: the Filet Mignon itself does not come with any real sides, just a small microgreen garnish. At this price point, I would expect at least something simple included, like vegetables or a small accompaniment. We've been to other higher-end restaurants where the steak comes with something like carrots or seasonal vegetables, which helps make the plate feel more complete. Having just the steak on a large empty plate made the meal feel a little underwhelming for the price. I'm not trying to compare restaurants, but we've been to other upscale places where they add small touches like a complimentary dessert, a personalized menu saying "Happy Birthday" or "Happy Anniversary," or even a small celebration moment with a sparkler. Those little details really elevate the experience and make guests feel appreciated. The food was amazing, and the service was quick. We tried all of the sides, and every single one felt like a masterpiece of its own. Each dish had a genius mix of flavors and the same "wow factor" you'd expect from a main course. Nothing felt like an afterthought. I think my favorites were the beets and sweet potato tots. Who knew those vegetables could be lifted into a literal stand alone experience. I ordered the Ribeye, medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. The flavor, temperature, and seasoning were of the highest caliber--easily one of the best steaks I've ever had, and I've eaten all over the world. For appetizers we went with the Curry Mussels and Bone Marrow. They were beyond belief. Every plate held its own level of excellence. The food: Amazing. The atmosphere: Amazing. The team: On a whole other level of amazing. We were celebrating a business success, and the team at Asheville Proper made it feel like we were truly winning. Highly recommend. I literally believe these guys just gave me one of the top two meals I have ever had! Keep it up, team!
