I hardly ever give a place 5 stars but the Shrimp and Grits entree did it. And the spicy Bloody Mary. And the Duck Confit Poutine.... We decided to visit on a Saturday afternoon to get around the reported crowds and the strategy seemed to have worked. Took a while to be recognized but were quickly seated in a booth. The appetizer was the Poutine. Great flavor but a little flat--a lot of meat though. Entrees were the Mac and Cheese (with added lobster) and the Shrimp and Grits (large, meaty shrimp.) Both fantastic and enough for leftovers. Entrees average around $15 but the quality and quantity are definitely there. Draft beer list isn't lengthy but it's well curated (updated list in their site.) If you want a huge list head to The Pint Room nearby. The spicy (warning) Bloody Mary's garnish was so epic it could have been its own appetizer. Best in Columbus? I'll need a few more to decide! The only con is it being in Dublin. Really wish they were downtown. Maybe someday. read more

101 Beer Kitchen has a diverse, seasonal menu where everything is made from scratch. There is something for everyone and the meals are customizable and made-to-order. While it has a shorter beer menu than I was expecting from the name, the beer choices were clearly hand-picked and top-tier. They also had an expansive wine, cocktail, and mead list! There are happy hour specials Monday through Friday until 7 pm - half off drafts and $6 wine and meads in the bar area. Definitely get a reservation or prepare to stalk tables in the bar area. The atmosphere is cozy and it is not loud given the large space. Service was incredible the entire night. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about beer, provided great menu recommendations, and provided the perfect amount of attention. The manager even asked about our meal and experience! The ambiance, drinks, and service alone were enough for us to go back but the food is certainly 5-stars on its own! We started with the butternut squash pierogis served over spinach and topped with parmesan - we highly recommend this. I had the chicken fried pork sandwich at the recommendation of the waitress. Such a simple sandwich packed with unique flavor and texture - definitely not your average fried-meat sandwich. Pro tip - sub mac 'n cheese for the chips for an extra dollar, you won't regret it. My husband had the pork saltimbocca meatballs served with polenta and carrots and it was incredible. The meat was tender and the sauce was the right amount of sweet to go with the polenta. To top off the night, we split the Rum Baba - aka apple pie meets cake with spiced rum syrup. We came here before a friend get together on a Friday night around 6pm.. perfect happy hour time. They were busy, but not too busy where there was a wait. We were able to get a table in the bar and enjoy 3$ off wine and 1/2 price drafts! I personally was a bit bummed the poutine as well as the lobster roll (seen in reviewer photos) were not on the menu.. we wanted to try the max amount of dishes, so we ordered the deviled eggs, and split the burger & fries as well as a side of Mac and cheese. As I took a look at my previous review, I noticed a few changes from 5 years ago. The same.. very noisy during busy times. Good food and drinks. Changes... no dessert menu, variety in the menu was less. Now what we had was good. I had the Mussel forestier and a ginger fizz. Lots of mussels, great sauce, very messy to eat. Would of liked more toast slices to sop up the sauce with. The drink was fruity and strong, so I sipped it down. My mom had the duck confit and sweet potato hash. Her comments on it was too many white potatoes, and the eggs were cold, but tasted good. The step dad had the skillet pancake with fruit and bacon. Never had a home made tatertot prior to this and pretty sure store bought frozens won't be good enough for me any more. The menu had some pretty good options so we stuck with all shareables. I had a ale & cheese soup - velvety goodness with thinly sliced sourdough toast and bacon croutons... the bacon pieces were a bit too salty for my taste but were easy to eat around. The soup was filling and comforting on a cold night. Also had the pretzels/cheese spread. If I'm being honest not sure I'd have those again.. or maybe I would but Id dip the pretzels in the soup rather than the spread it came with. Hubbs ordered wings - liked that they were grilled vs fried with a honey based rub .. i was pretty fully by then so only had 2 or so - but Id try it again. Only disappointment was the dessert which we took to go - it was chef's pie. It was a peanut butter pie, graham crust & chocolate drizzle. Favorite brunch spot - but lunch and dinner are great also If you are looking for a weekend brunch spot; you will feel fortunate to find yourself at 101 Beer Kitchen. I check the online menu, hoping to find the scotch eggs - which were available briefly a few years ago and I have missed them ever since... but the rest of the menu is divine. Half of my visits to this restaurant have been for lunch - the tater tots were highly recommended by the server on my first visit and definitely a great menu item. I think a crab cake eggs benedict has been my all-time favorite (with those darn scotch eggs a close second place) and I've had it twice. For lunch or dinner I've enjoyed the burgers, the soups and salads and other special entrees. The menu overall is not huge but it is still difficult to decide so I like to take others so we can share. That is always a success - especially with the starter courses. My two grandchildren (under 6 years old) have enjoyed the menu immensely each time they have gone with us as well. Meals are selected from a cute little clipboard and served on an old-fashioned divided cafeteria tray so anyone with "my food is touching" issues will be relieved at this offering. The portions are generous - and the hot cookie for dessert is very popular. I'm sure the desserts are equally good - but I am never still hungry after 1-2 courses. I think a primary perk of this restaurant is the beer and libation menu, however. The cocktails are very fresh and inspired - and the beer menu is very extensive. Truly, I was expecting a few more draft options on the list considering the name of the place but that being said, I was completely satisfied with my beer choice. This place is great! Right when you walk in you see how unique this place is. The inside is fairly large and it has a very nice outdoor area. We came on a Saturday at around 1:30 and we were easily able to get a table for 8 though I have heard it can get busy towards dinner time. We were seated fast and then our server came to get our drink orders. The drinks did take a bit but it was alright. We ordered and our food did take a bit to come out but it was well worth the wait. I ordered the chicken and biscuits with gravy and it was phenomenal and the gravy was a honey chili gravy. It was also served with a salad which was really good. Our server was nice but a little bit slower probably because she was working a lot of tables. Overall this place is amazing it has a great atmosphere and amazing food. It sat on a bed of bland mash potatoes and covered with processed mushrooms in what seemed to be beef gravy. Another member had a burger which was overdone despite request for pink inside. October 8, 2017 I had high hopes as 101 has Avery White Rascal on tap. I felt very uncomfortable sitting at the bar by myself. The restaurant had a lot of regulars in for a beer/dinner event so it was very loud. The initial service was good, but Wow, I must be old. Ridiculous behavior by the bar staff. Not impressed. Their menu varies with the seasons, so I have resolved to drive the 90 minutes here at least 4 times a year. Today I had the salmon BLT with guacamole and arugula served with house made beet chips. Great alternative to WOB. Carries Bavarian Rheinheitsgebot compliant imports at the original 12% alc. Presents a developed menu. Should add Currywurst and other types of German offerings, especially being in Central Ohio. That didn't make a lot of sense, but it could easily be added. Overall a great experience. read more
