I stayed at the Dorsett Tsuen Wan because I had to book super last minute, but I probably wouldn't have chosen this hotel if I'd had more time to put thought into it.
It's a fine place to stay, though. The room itself was very nice, and they provided all the essentials like combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, coffee, tea, bottled water, etc. I enjoyed using the wifi, the large-screen TV and the tea kettle every morning.
I really loved the light switches near the bed that control all the lights in the room as well as the "do not disturb" and "please make-up the room" lights to signal the cleaning staff from the hallway. Genius.
I do find the design of the room weird, though. I don't get the giant window between the bathroom and the bedroom. There's literally nowhere you can be in the room where you can't see if somebody's in the shower or, y'know, otherwise using the bathroom... I mean, I traveled alone, but the room had two beds, so...?
The Dorsett Tsuen Wan is conveniently located a short walk from the Tai Wo Hau MTR station, which is really nice. That is, however, the only thing convenient about this location. The train actually takes about 50 minutes to get to more populated parts of town, and it's about $200 HKD (about $26 USD) to get to or from the airport by taxi. There isn't much near the hotel besides the 7-Eleven next door, which isn't even open 24 hours! Wacky.
All-in-all, the Dorsett Tsuen Wan is a nice place, but I wouldn't recommend it to any travelers looking to explore a lot of the area. I enjoyed my stay, but I really wish this hotel was more centrally-located. I would definitely stay somewhere else on my next trip to Hong Kong. read more
