    Restaurant week prix fixe menu
    Sharon M.

I'm gonna channel Mackelmore a la Thrift Shop for a sec. This is a review of the lunch at their restaurant, which had pretty average food....but shit it was 99 cents! Uh I mean $118! HKD $118 (CAD $20) for a 4 course meal so Mira Moon, you get a 3.5! Even though the food is probably more of a 3. Now maybe it's because I went during Restaurant Week, a week where fancy restaurants all over Hong Kong serve up promotional prix fixe versions of their menu, but I wasn't blown away. Along with the traditional Prix Fixe, they also offered a Tapas promotion, choose 2 from their list for HKD $150 (CAD $25). My lunch crew all opted for the regular Prix Fixe that treated us to: 1) Amaebi shrimp with mango gazpacho jelly, shaved pistachio, and crouton - or one small shrimp on a tablespoon. Didn't taste any mango or pistachio, but we did debate over what the round hard thing at the top was. It tasted like plain, dry cracker. It was the crouton. 2) Spring bean salad with Chorizo crisps and Calamansi vinaigrette - Calamansi, a Filipino lemon apparently. Makes sense, because the salad was pretty sour. Little too much dressing, with not a lot of other things to balance it out. Chorizo chips were great though. 3) Surf part of Surf and Turf consisting of pan fried salmon with fried potatoes and onions in Mojo Verde - Pretty good, salmon was moist and potatoes were tasty. The Mojo Verde was a savoury green sauce. 4) Turf part consisting of grilled Australian grain-fed sirloin with fried lily flower and lotus root in Chinese Lo Shui sauce - Good flavour from the sauce, but that cow was chewy. Don't know if it's the cut of the meat or the cook of it, because it seemed better done than the medium rare it was supposed to be. Also it was tiny and I swear the piece my neighbour got was much bigger. 5) Flan caramel with aged citrus peel with grilled citrus and whipped cream - That flan was bland. Which is unfortunate, because the overall dessert wasn't bad. I enjoyed the grilled citrus and whipped cream. I know Asian desserts are lighter and I usually like them that way, but this one was a bit too light. For a hotel that boasts a HKD $1500+ (CAD $250+) nightly rate, the restaurant and bar certainly reflects that level of high roller status. It's a beautiful space with fantastic service that caters well to both locals and foreigners. Even the toilets are made of wood! Overall, good place to pretend to be fancy without spending the actual fancy dollars. Unfortunately, the food wasn't on the same level of hype. Good, but not great. But shit, it was $118!!! Great hotel in a very convenient area in Hong Kong. I first debated whether I should give 4 or 5 stars because a few things were not perfect but opted for the 5 stars because I thought I should award whoever does the cleaning at the hotel: our room was impevccable and spotless clean every single day of our stay (we spent 5 days here). The check in process was OK: the employees at the front desk do need to perk up a little bit. A smile goes a long way. The lobby is beautifully decorated. We opted for an upgrade with the harbor view and it was worth it especially at night when all the lights were on. The room was spacious and had a modern vibe. The bathroom was a dream- we had a bath tab and a walk in shower and it was nice to have the option. The hotel also offers complimentary coffee, water and wi-fi that you can take with you all around the city.

Mira Moon is incredibly beautiful hotel filled with special details which made my stay one to come back for! The ground floor entranceway is super cute with a floral tiled floor and big funky red chairs. The host sends you to the 5th floor reception for check in, where I was upgraded since it was my first time staying at the hotel. The room was spacious with totally sleek feel, white walls, floor, and some pops of red. There was a full window wall looking out onto the harbor, but the best part was the bathroom: a floral tiled toilet room, shower room, and a nice big bathtub! And surround sound if you feel like singing in the shower! Loved this boutique hotel, part of Design hotels and SPG if your going for the points!

So, I am giving the hotel a final rating of 2. The rooms were really nice. I give them that. But they truly failed in the service. #1- the amenities maybe exceptional, but cleanliness isn't. The tabletop where the sink rested had water marks.. ..they didn't clean it up well. If a hotel wishes to use wood for their furniture, they should at least use cleaning supplies to maintain its quality. When I used the toilet, the wall tiles where the towel hook was, it had dirt marks. Whoever was their cleaner should at least take time to scrub it down. It looks so nasty. I had to take a couple of wet tissues and wipe it down myself. #2- ..when we checked out, we requested for a taxi cab. When we went down, the lady at the concierge told us if it was ok to get a cab that would take us to the West Tunnel.. something like that. She said it would be more expensive but definitely faster. So, we agreed. The cab came,, it looked the same as the one we took yesterday coming in from the train station. A passenger was inside and we just took over. He did take the other tunnel, but it seemed like a longer route. The ride was definitely longer and not shorter. When we went to the hotel from the train station, we only paid HK$80. HongHum station is located right off the tunnel, and so is Mira Moon. But going back to the station seemed way, way longer. He took us all the way around. By the time we got to the station, the meter read HK$175.5! Plus, ..when we got down he added HK$60 more for our luggages! Omg! We had a feeling Mira Moon staff and these cabs have agreements with each other! We ended up paying 3x more..total of HK$235.5! Imagine that!!! So next time, it's best you guys get your own cabs! Better yet..don't stay at Mira Moon! Such a bad experience in whole! I am even thinking of reaching out to the CEO because of this! This is why I had to make this ff up review because I don't want any of you to experience what we experienced! So horrible!

Best hotel in Hong Kong and a part of SPG as an added bonus. Hotel is tres chic and well maintained over the last 4-5 years I have been a resident. Great staff, location and the complimentary on the road wifi is a nice touch.

Just stayed here for a weekend and it was fantastic. The hotel is located conveniently in Causeway Bay. The hotel is a small boutique hotel with 4-5 rooms per floor. You enter in at the lobby and then go up to the 5th floor to check in. All of the rooms are then above that. The hotel has a restaurant and a bar although I didn't try either as my rate didn't include breakfast. I paid a rate of $150 which was fantastic compared to other hotels in the region. The room is fairly spacious and the bathroom is very nice with a rain shower and nice shampoos and scrubs. As it's a design hotels, the hotel is really decorated nicely with a rabbit and moon theme. If you prefer more normal hotels, you may want to skip this. The best part was the wifi buddy that provided a mobile wifi signal whenever you went out. That was a great service. The concierge was also very good with her advice about restaurants to go. It was a very nice hotel to be a center point for adventures in Hong Kong and I would definitely come back again

    Unique style

Luxury value comfortably exceeds cost to stay. If staying on Hong Kong island and don't care about large chain loyalty points, stay here. Rooms are luxury with surprisingly unique style and attention to detail. Location is excellent for MTR and fine dining (under the bridge spicy crab, crystal jade xiao long bao, sushi ta-ke). Service staff is excellent. Example: we dropped off our bags before room was ready and they had bags in room when we returned from day hike. Staff also asked my food preference for dinner and made a reservation on my behalf. All staff are fluent english speakers. Shout out to manager, Rony, who helped our experience feel custom and made us a priority.

It's also 20 minutes taxi ride from Disneyland and 25 minutes from the airport. The hotel itself is modern, luxurious and full of amenities. Upon arrival the bell service took our luggage and held them for about 7 hours free of charge, until our room was ready. Then they delivered it to the room as well. The check-in process was easy, they had a separate lane for Bonvoy Platinum and above members. Since our room wasn't ready, they gave a temporary card to access the lounge and other hotel amenities. The hotel lounge is amazing, the best kind I have seen any Marriott hotel. It has two floors looking out to the harbor. They serve excellent breakfast, including a hot station for omelettes and eggs. They also had two other restaurants for full course meals, Dynasty being one of them. We got an upgrade for our room to studio suite. It was a spacious room with the harbor view. All items in the room and bathroom were fully functional. There were TVs in both the living room and bedroom. The bathroom had both bathtub and glass door standing shower. They were considerate to put a universal converter in the room so we could plug in our US 120V electronics. There were also USB and USB-C ports in living room and bedroom. Throughout the hotel, all the staff member were amazing. Every time we had interaction with them at the lobby, lounge and reception, they were friendly, with positive attitude trying the best to help us. Among all the wonderful highlights, some of the minor annoyances were hotel's elevators were going thru renovation, so there was always little wait time to get on the elevator. In the room, the TV stand was little old. The glass door was leaking some water in the standing shower. I was super happy with my time staying at Renaissance in HK because of its location, amenities, quality, service and ease of accessibility to tourist spots. For my future HK visits, I'll surely consider staying at Renaissance will again.

Housekeeping team - top notch! I'm so glad we picked JW, over the Conrad (ugh don't ask, had the worse experience in Singapore)... since we are members of both rewards programs. I feel like the JW is more on brand as their top tier namesake. I'm happy to be a Marriott Bonvoy member and excited for more stays! Pro tip: with the Marriott Bonvoy, you get late check out, so if you decide on a late flight, you don't need to rush. Just ask Concierge to make a note of it.

The service, Grand Hyatt quality, staff and hotel haven't changed one bit. Everything about the stay was perfect. The fantastic views, to the helpful staff who brought all our luggage to our room and it was a lot of suitcases as we were only staying a couple of nights before flying back to the U.S. it was the last leg of our Asia tour so we had amassed quite a lot of souvenirs and shopping to bring home. The views from our room were spectacular! Especially during the golden hour where Hong Kong bay just seems to light up and glow. We took every opportunity we could to take in the views. I called the concierge desk to ask for help getting reservations to a restaurant I wanted to take my family. After many attempts, they couldn't connect with the restaurant, but they gave us 2-3 other options where I could go for dinner and they made the reservations for me. The dinner was perfect and we enjoyed the food. We hired the Grand Hyatt airport limousine van to take us to Hong Kong airport. The service was above and beyond. When we pulled up to the airport terminal there were two Hyatt staff members waiting for our arrival with two baggage carts. Once the van pulled up they unloaded our luggage and pushed the carts behind us to follow us to the check in counter and unloaded everything for us there. It was seamless and smooth to check in. Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour checked almost all of the boxes and the best part was we redeemed our stay using points. North Point is a nice and safe neighborhood. It might not be as convenient as staying in Causeway Bay (where my sister stayed) or on the Kowloon side, but it's less crowded. We still have 7-Eleven, restaurants, shops, and cafes nearby. Two blocks from MTR. The ferry is downstairs. Starbucks and YiFang are on the ground level if you miss home. This 5 stars hotel has all of the amenities that you can expect. Our room on the 9th floor has a nice view of Victoria Harbor and Kowlooon. A small sitting area in the corner with a desk to do some work. Slippers, ropes, iron and iron boards, toiletries are all provided. They even have a fancy coffee/hot water machine. It took us a while to figure out how to use it but it's amazing. I need a cup of warm water first thing in the morning. The beds are very comfortable and I crashed each night from all the walking and activities. The room felt clean and housekeeping are great. Not on our list, but there is a pool on the top floor with the amazing view. Hong Kong is hot and humid even during early December, so an option to swim is nice. Even if you don't swim, it's still nice to sit by the pool and enjoy the view. Tip: You can store your luggage with concierge for free. That worked really well for us because we went to Malaysia for 3 days and came back to HK. I can't recommend this hotel enough and will likely stay here again in the future.
