I couldn't have been happier with this find!
Located not far from the Wan Chai MTR station, this is a hotel that isn't too hard on the wallet (compared to other HK hotels) and offers all the necessities you could want.
Check-in was relatively easy. I am grateful for the staff who spoke varying levels of English. They needed my passport to get me checked in. Checking in was easy otherwise. The porter (who spoke fluent English) took my bags and whisked them up to my room before I even knew!
The room itself was small (don't expect anything different in HK) but adequate. A comfortable bed in a comfortable room? I'm happy. I'm happier when the shower has good temps and water pressure as this one did.
The wifi didn't work for me until I went to the front desk and they put some code into my phone. Still, before I discovered that, I simply used the free hotspot... yes, free hotspot. This hotel participates in a cool program that puts a local cell phone in your room. FREE local calls and calls to about 11 countries! Free unlimited data! WHAT? And I was able to use it all the time. I took it around with me and was constantly on Google Maps, never lost thanks to this little wonder. And yes, I used the hotspot feature, which was really, really fast.
The front desk was unfailingly friendly and helpful, giving me directions but also breaking large bills for me.
There's a minifridge in the room, which is awesome since there are about a trillion 7-Elevens and Circle K's near the hotel. My room rate also included breakfast which was diverse and more than enough. Everything from smoked salmon, fruit salad, croissants to congee and salads... I thought it was perfect.
There were even smart touches throughout -- there were USB ports right next to the bed. There was a universal power adapter at the desk power outlet. The Do Not Disturb sign wasn't a sign but a button. So cool.
If I come back to HK, I'll be staying here. read more
