We stayed at the Four Seasons on a recommendation that it had great views and it was centrally located. For the latter point, it's hard to debate - you can get from the Airport Express train that comes in from HKG to the lobby of the hotel in less than 10 minutes without stepping outside, as you just need to traverse a small section of the IFC Mall. The lobby has an understated splendor to it, with a marble spiral staircase leading up to the ballroom level and live music often playing at the front of The Lounge, which is the lobby-area lounge (self-explanatory, I suppose) just past the check-in desk. The folks in the lobby were gracious and helpful, whether it was bringing our luggage up to our room, holding the doors open for us, or getting us checked in and out quickly and without hassle. The elevator bank is only 4 strong, but we never had to wait all that long despite the hotel having several stories at the bottom and 25 or so stories of rooms higher up.
The amenities included with the hotel are quite nice. The gym on the 5th floor is definitely one of the better hotel gyms I have been to, with lots of equipment, fresh juice and lots of Fiji water stocked, and the same gorgeous views of the harbor if you are facing north. As for the food, room service, while pricey, is very well-executed - the breakfast I had was definitely on the superior end of the quality spectrum compared to many similar Western-style breakfasts I have had delivered in the U.S. - and it's no secret that the Four Seasons has a total of 8 Michelin stars in-house. We tried one of the spots (Lung King Heen) for dinner and had an absolutely delicious experience - but that's for the review on the restaurant itself.
While I wouldn't say that the rooms in the Four Seasons are the absolute most modern rooms I have been in, they are very well-appointed and have been adapted well for more modern times. Aside from power plugs, USB charging ports - helpful for phones and tablets - are aplenty; I only had to break out one of my power adapters at any time for use. The marble and granite finishes in the bathroom are gorgeous, and having two sinks and a separate bath and shower (with a rainfall showerhead - my preferred one) ensures that you can take care of yourself in pampered fashion. The bed and pillows are extremely comfortable, as always (more on the plush side), and a harbor view meant we had excellent views of the bay - but with good soundproofing, hardly any of the noise at all. The only real downside to the room - and perhaps this is a nitpick, but I found it quite annoying - is that the toilet in the room had extremely low water flow. Given this isn't the case for all toilets on the premises (e.g. the ones outside the gym on the 5th floor), it was a bit irritating to deal with at times, with a call even going to the plumber once.
Despite that one small blemish, our stay at the Four Seasons was largely impeccable. It's definitely a pricey spot to stay, but its convenience to the waterfront, the mall, the Central / Hong Kong stations, as well as to SoHo further in (thanks to the covered walkways that allow you to access the Mid-Level escalators), makes it an ideal spot to stay when in Hong Kong. There's no question that I will try to stay here again next time I make it back to the city in the future. read more
