Our room is equipped with two twin beds, a desk and chair, a refrigerator, complimentary bottles of water, and basic toiletry. Do not expect this room to be as spacious at the Hiltons in other international cities because Hong Kong real estate is a luxury. There is less than a foot of space between the two beds. Although it is not ideal for most people, it worked for us because we have young children. The narrow space is less of a hazard for our younger daughter to fall in because she tends to move a lot in her sleep. We had a slight hiccup midway through our stay in which the water did not properly drain in the shower. They were quick and efficient in resolving the issue and even brought us extra complimentary bottles of water. They have breakfast in the hotel but we opted out and went venturing for more local options. There are plenty within a 15-minute walking radius. There are also two MTR stations nearby and we used both of them extensively during our stay.

I just checked out 4 hrs ago and am writing this while my memory of it is fresh. It may have been…read morethe jet-lag induced mental fog during my overnight stay but I found this property to be one of the best HGIs I have ever been a guest at. I know that is a strong statement but my travel habits put me in hotels about 75 nights per year and 90% of them are within the Hilton portfolio of brands. That does get me treated like a high-value target by the hotels generally but this review is based primarily on the hard product of the property itself and not recognition of my loyalty status. The HGI brand in the Hilton portfolio is really aimed at being a mid-level business class hotel with full service breakfast available. It is not the cheapest brand but it is far from the nicest either (Hampton Inn and Waldorf Astoria brands have those far ends of the spectrum locked up). So no one goes to a HGI and expects a doorman, a fairly impressive lobby space, or a finer dining restaurant on property. But that is what is found here. The Kowloon location, deep in the Mong Kok neighborhood, is also ideal if you want to stay in the thick of the HK hustle and bustle with plenty of interesting areas, food shops and local life happening all around you. Walking from the hotel is easy and interesting no matter what direction you set out in and about the only downside is that it is about a 10-15 min walk to the light rail station. I don't consider that to be a deal breaker. The staff are present at the entry doors during the day while watching over some expensive cars parked in the front. During my stay, there were 4 Porsches and a Bentley parked near the door. I've never run into that at an HGI before. The rooms are typical HGI (clean, comfortable, functional) if but a bit smaller than their US counterparts. But what is lost in size is made up for by this property being a high rise building with some nice views out over the neighborhood. What does get some kudos here is the excellent shower flow pressure and the nice shower drain and door design ensuring great drainage so you aren't standing in a pond and water does not escape and get all over the floor (ridiculous half-partition showers all over Europe, I'm looking straight at you!) Finally, my stay was overnight with a departure too early to check out their breakfast option. But I'm guessing it is great given that their on property restaurant is really more of an upscale Chinese restaurant and not the usual HGI cafe'. During my stay, there were advertisements for whole suckling pig, abalone and goose foot webs, and pig lung soup to name a few. Impressive and intriguing in a great foodie sort of way! Tourists fear not as there were several western guests in the property so I'm sure you can get a proper cheeseburger if that is needed. Typical HGI standards this place is not and I only have remarkable things to report after my short stay here. I'm back through HK in 4 days and I already know where I am going to choose to stay!

I stayed at the Kerry two Novembers ago and spent Thanksgiving in Hong Kong. It was a great…read moreexperience and it has been on my list of hotels to repeat. At the time of my stay, Kerry Hotel was still the new kid on the block, very recently built (2017) and managed by Shangri-La hotels. So technically, you can say they were a spanking new hotel with a few businesses set to open in early 2019 like a barbershop and a few other restaurants. BTW, if you're reading this review, I'm very positive those businesses have their doors open and running by now =) During my stay there was a full service spa, bar, restaurant and room service available. We didn't take advantage of the dining but definitely scheduled a spa day with all the walking around in HK! The spa was 5 stars! Kerry is located right at the water front, their heated infinity pool, GORGEOUS GYM, event spaces, and a great amount of rooms face the harbor, offering an impressive view of the HK skyline. Kerry is located on the Kowloon side and very close to 2 MTR stations which are both walking distance within 5 mins. And when you're in HK, you don't need a car, MTR and Uber is the way to do it. It might be good to know, if you're taking the train from the airport, Kerry do offer a shuttle service at the hub for transferring between the airport train to the MTR (please forgive me I forgot the name of the station). Since the hotel was newly built, everything is in pristine condition. Kerry Hotel is one of those fancy, luxury hotels so do expect to pay a pretty penny. The rooms are huge! Easily 400sqft for a standard room. Very detailed, clean with an awesome bathroom and soaking tub. The staff is really courteous, friendly and great to interact with. Overall, my stay and experience with Kerry Hotel was 5 stars all across and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

I also appreciated that they replenished complimentary water and slippers in the room each day. I deducted one star because the food was not good. I tried the breakfast buffet, à la carte breakfast, and dinner, and everything tasted bland and not freshly made. The à la carte breakfast tasted like it came straight from the buffet. That said, the cocktails were good. Overall, it was a good stay. But FYI, this hotel is not close to anything in walking distance.

I got a private room for right around $50 a night, which is *AMAZING* for this part of Hong Kong. The hostel is an easy less than 5 minute walk from the Yau Ma Tei subway station, right off of Nathan Road. When I checked in, I liked the look of the common room. Plenty of places to sit and relax, and also a computer if you need to use one. They also have bottled water and other beverages to sell. Everyone I interacted with the week I was there was fantastic. Anything I needed to find, I could find in the immediate neighborhood, and they showed me exactly where it was on a map. I also needed to print up a couple of emails for tours I was taking, and they printed those out for me also. There is also Wi-Fi throughout the building, which was fast enough for me to stream video with, even using a VPN for security. I was on a higher floor, and still had no problem with it. The hostel/guesthouse is in one highrise building. For security purposes, you press your room key up against a sensor in the elevator, and it will give you only access to the floor you are staying on. The room was very small, but again, for what I was paying for a private room in Hong Kong, it was perfect. The room had a bed, a small bathroom, and a TV. I was living out of my suitcase for the week, but there was plenty of space to put my gear and still move around. My TV did not work the first day or so, but as soon as they could get a technician in, they couldn't get it to work, so they just replaced the whole TV. There was also 2 different places to plug in my voltage converter, so I could keep my electronics charged. I told them that they did not need to send someone up to replace my towel or fold my comforter every day, but they did anyway. i thought that was a nice touch. As for the neighborhood, as I mentioned, it is close to the Subway which, combined with the bus, and ferry systems, will get you almost anywhere in town. There is an express bus to and from the airport that runs on Nathan Road just a block and a half away. There are tons of local restaurants in the neighborhood, where you can find all sorts of food, from standard, to very , um, "adventurous". (I *actually* found the duck tongue in soy sauce very tasty. I learned that duck tongues have bones. I didn't get to try the snake soup at another spot, though. :) ) Right outside the front door is the Temple Street Night Market, where you can find just about anything you are looking for. Be prepared to haggle, and you will find some great deals. Overall, a great place to stay run by great people. However, there is one important rule to follow, especially if you are staying in the dorms. (See picture.)
