Hotel Reception

Let's get the ball rolling for my 1st review of the year ......... I'm here in Hong Kong for a business trip in January and I'm booked on this hotel in shatin as it's somewhat nearer to my office. This hotel looks grand and most importantly it's near a big shopping mall. At 1st, I was thinking how come this hotel is located at such Ulu places. Pardon me, this is my 1st trip to hong kong and I was expecting the stay to be in central Hong Kong. Anyway, the rooms are awesome and it's big and spacious. I was given a Queen Size bed which includes a single bed too ..... Which means I can sleep on each side for 1 night. The hotel is clean and tidy and they serve international breakfast. During my breakfast session, I get to chat with Caucasian students whose here for an exchange program and according to them this is the best hotel within the vicinity. The hotel provides daily shutter service to central hong kong and you got to checkout the timing. The overall stay is awesome.

View from my room at Royal Park.

Solid and comfortable business hotel at reasonable prices. Modern, and recently renovated. Convenient to public transportation. Polite and efficient staff. It is my hotel of choice whenever I am in in Hong Kong. For obvious reasons I haven't been for a while, but this will remain my go to hotel when we return to normal.

they do a nice variety of cakes! with a low price tag too! ah huh!

I'm a Bonvoy Silver member, and they upgraded me to a river hotel view for my 7 night stay since there were suites available. The view of the river and all the highrises was amazing. Overall everything in my hotel suite functioned well. No complaints in terms of defective materials inside. A bit of rust/stain from the walls and curtains, but you'd have to really look to find them. Concierge was good here, check-in and out was smooth. If you wanna stay in a hotel brand that's known for quality worldwide, but don't want to pay the increased prices close to the city centre, this hotel is an excellent choice.

Bad is that if you want to go to the main tourist attractions in HK, it's a long transit ride there. Staff were professional and on top of everything. Very helpful with any questions we had. Surrounded by lots of restaurants and food places, a short walk from the subway station. Also lots of buses available for travelling to different locations. The rooms were clean, there's a water dispenser on every floor. Was kind of sad the pool was closed despite the weather being a consistent 30 Celsius plus but I get that that they need to close it for the winter season.

My guess is, they have all fake ratings on other platforms…read more Here is my real experience: Very old, felt itchy while sleeping I came here for a conference, not to train my patience or argue basic logic with the front desk. First of all, breakfast sometimes requires a 30-minute line, and after waiting that long, the food quality is no better than a very basic mainland budget hotel. Completely not worth the time, especially for business travelers. Now to the real disaster: My room key suddenly stopped working. The front desk told me--very coldly--that my room had already been checked out by mistake, and claimed this was "your team's problem" and had nothing to do with the hotel. Excuse me? If the hotel system checked me out incorrectly, how is that not the hotel's responsibility? I explained that my wallet, laptop, and personal belongings were still inside the room, and asked to be let in. Their response: "No. Your room is already checked out." No empathy. No flexibility. No common sense. I asked if they could at least open the door while my team fixed the issue. The answer was still a flat no, followed by a ridiculous suggestion: "We can take your belongings out for you, and once everything is fixed, you can come back and get them." So I'm not allowed into my room, but you want to handle my valuables yourselves? Are you afraid I'll refuse to leave or something? Throughout this entire mess, there was not a single apology. Not from the front desk, not from management. When I tried to reason with them--starting with "Listen..."--the staff member literally walked away, saying they were "busy," and left our group logistics coordinator standing there with no solution. They repeatedly insisted that: * Lining up for breakfast is "how it should be" * The incorrect checkout was "our problem" * Entering my own room was "not allowed" Meanwhile, they had the nerve to argue with me about whether I had queued for breakfast, while my laptop and wallet were locked inside a room I was not allowed to enter. To top it off, the Wi-Fi is terrible. I was in meetings and had to switch to mobile data every 10 minutes because the connection kept dropping. Completely unusable for any serious work. I travel extensively, and I can honestly say this is the first time I've encountered such an unbelievably unprofessional and incompetent front desk at a so-called "business hotel." No accountability. No apology. No basic respect for guests. If you value your time, your work, and your sanity--run. Do not stay here.

The room is far larger then anything on HK island or Kowloon that I have stayed in so that is something. However, everything is quite dated and in need of an update. There were no outlets by the bed! In this day and age this is mandatory and I was pretty annoyed by this. I can live with the bad pillows (IMO) and the old style bathroom where you can't close off the shower, but having limited access to Wifi on multiple devices and no easily accessible outlets was not a good thing. I was staying in the Executive Club Room which I assumed would provide me with some extra amenities. The breakfast was HORRIBLE! Scrambled egg soup, unrecognizable meats, and broken toasters are not what I expect in HK. If this was at a Mainland Chinese Hotel I would understand but not here. The breakfast which costs $95HK was better and I would have rather had access to that instead. Better choices and more of everything, still not amazing but superior to what I had. Also, I was supposed to be entitled to an expedited check out in the lounge but when I got there I was rudely directed to go back to the main lobby. Not the end of the world but made me wonder why I paid extra for this room. The restaurants around the hotel were pretty bad. I would skip the pizza place, Thai, and Taiwanese places. You can read my reviews of them as well. Their bar - The Scene has a great happy hour and the jalapeño poppers are quite good I must say. Given a choice, I would never return.

Located within a short walking distance from the University MTR stop. The lobby is pretty spacious and the bellhop were really friendly and helpful. The moment we got out of the taxi, they already had the trolleys out to help with our luggage. Check in was quick and easy. The room we got was a two twin bed room. You can say it was enough for us, but you can also say that it wasn't. The bathroom area is pretty spacious with a full size tub and a separate shower area. The decor definitely looks a little aged, but it was still clean. The hotel had a restaurant downstairs that does buffet. Didn't get a chance to try it though. There was also a regular sit down restaurant right next to it. We got access to the Regency Club and it was nice. Continental breakfast was provided as well as hor dourves later in the afternoon. The staff working up in the Regency Club were all pretty friendly, but for some unknown reason I felt like I was being watched over what I was doing. Just a sense of not feeling entirely comfortable or rather welcoming even though I had the right access to it. As far as the other amenities go, the pool area and kids area were really nice and big. The gym is also another amenity that deserves some shine. The workout area is a lot bigger than a lot of other hotel gyms. They have enough cardio and free weight equipments for guests to enjoy. Overall, no other complaints about our stay here. We would definitely consider staying here in the future, but will be putting traveling time back and forth into consideration. Lastly, if you're looking for laundry, there is a laundry spot one MTR away at Fo Tan. It's about a 10 min walk after getting off the MTR station in a small shopping center in the back. Pretty affordable prices compared to having Hyatt do it.

Filled with shops, high & low, food and easy access to convenience stores like 7/11 on the MTR level. Easy walk out to neighborhoods like Wan Chai for local eats, and strolled a little further to Central or CWB! Be sure to do booking/resy for restaurants - seems to be the way to go. The hotel itself is well maintained. The rooms are beautiful, even is it's a little dated in some areas (bathroom) but the views are amazing looking at the hills, trees and houses above. Love that they provide international plugs already, so no need to have your converters. Hospitality: staff are all friendly, warm and welcoming. They always greet their guests with a smile. Housekeeping team - top notch! I'm so glad we picked JW, over the Conrad (ugh don't ask, had the worse experience in Singapore)... since we are members of both rewards programs. I feel like the JW is more on brand as their top tier namesake. I'm happy to be a Marriott Bonvoy member and excited for more stays! Pro tip: with the Marriott Bonvoy, you get late check out, so if you decide on a late flight, you don't need to rush. Just ask Concierge to make a note of it.
