Zuppa has sick lunch food. Seriously soooo good. I absolutely love the Turkey BLT. The bread is so crispy and delicious. Fresh ingredients. NOTE: The people who own/ work at Zuppa are operating on a different level. Don't be surprised for quirky service, weird questions, maybe even a little awkward. Do not take it personally- they will give you great food. Try not to talk --just smile. Don't ask for more then just the food/ your order. PS: Anyone ever see the Seinfeld episode "Soup Nazi".... ?

Zuppa is a short drive from a few nearby business parks. Located on Sweethome past North French, it's tucked away from the main stretch but still pretty accessible and you don't need to worry about traffic during the lunch hour. Zuppa is your stop for takeout, as they only have one very small table inside with two chairs. When I stopped in for lunch, there wasn't a line but a few people were coming in to pickup their take-out orders. Speaking of take-out, you can call in an order however the restaurant prefers orders by fax. Since I didn't have a menu, I decided to stop in to order and I got one of the specials, the small "Chicken bacon Swiss hot pepper melt" for $7.50+tax. The large sandwich costs $11.95. The sandwich was very tasty and the quality of the ingredients were really good too - they used big pieces of breaded chicken, large slices of bacon, and lots of melty cheese. :) My only criticism was the price, I just felt it was a little steep for just a sandwich, however if it was a dollar more and came with chips and a pop, I wouldn't have complained.

Don't come here expecting to have a nice sit down meal, but do come to grab your take out soup / pizza's / deli etc during your work week. I came and ordered the Louisiana Shrimp Gumbo here and at $5-6, it was a pretty pricey bowl of soup so my expectations were high. On top of that, I had to wait like 20 minutes for it, so I guess they may not even have them pre-made or they just decided to make an example out of me because I was a little indecisive when I came in here (never been here before, asked some questions, etc). Despite the long wait, the soup was one of the most delicious soups I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned, hearty, savory and downright delectable. It came with what seemed to be freshly baked bread as well, so nom nom nom is all I can really say. Even writing about it now, my longing for some warm soup from them has returned, but alas I live too far away! This place is mostly for catering / delivery to local businesses and I guess they still use fax machines, which is a little weird (who has a fax anymore??), but don't be fooled; their soups (and I'm sure all of their menu) is delicious.

You have to love their sense of humor, haha

Great classic Italian soup and sub restaurant. Great staff, and prices. Worth getting lunch when at UB.

I like fruited or sour beers and they didn't have any Woodcock branded ones, so I went with a guest beer. The beers people ordered at my table were ok, but nothing special. You enter the brewery/restaurant on the side with the lit courtyard between the buildings (Tattered Tulip & Woodcock). It's s a nice, easy place to grab a bite to eat, have a beverage and relax. The day we visited, they did not have any baked goods (they said they only have them on the weekend), so we couldn't try the peras de coco (coconut rolls). But, perhaps it was kind of a blessing because our picada was plentiful. The dining area isn't huge, but they also do take out. There are about 5 or so tables to dine in. The service was a tad slow, but very friendly; I believe there was only one person waiting, cooking & serving AND the food was more than worth the wait! We ordered the picada for 4 and my brother tried a Colombiana cola. He liked it a lot; it was lighter than a "normal" cola, non-carbonated and less sweet than cola around here. I don't drink pop and even when I did, I always hated colas. I can't say I'd drink a whole Colombiana, but I didn't find it disgusting & that's saying something. Now on to the star of the show, the picada! It was loaded with several different meats, plantains fixed in different ways, yuca & baby potatoes and 4 sauces. We were so excited when it was set down on our table, we dug in before we even got our silverware haha. The platter had chicken, steak, chicharron, chorizo, blood sausage, sausage, sweet plantain, fried plantain, fried yuca and Colombian potatoes. The sauces were: avocado sauce, mayo/ketchup, pico de gallo & a garlicky one. Everything was so, so flavorful and cooked perfectly! There was not one thing that any of us didn't like. If I had to pick my top contender of a meat and a non-meat item, I would choose the chicharron & sweet plantain.... But I hope to never have to make that choice! The chicharron were thick and crunchy. The sweet plantain were perfection. When we left we were each given a dulce de leche caramel. They also have a variety of Colombian snacks and candies for sale. They recently opened an additional, larger location at 951 Niagara Falls Blvd (it used to be El Palenque). We were told they will be keeping both locations open, but the new location will have some additional items that they don't serve at the Oliver St location. I cannot wait to visit again!!!

A pint of some kind of soup and a container with a scoop of white rice. To put into perspective: they have a daily deal that is an entree, soup, salad, rice, beans and plantains for $22. Everything was delicious, but the xiao long bao was easily the highlight. The dumpling skin was the perfect thickness, and you could really taste the crab in the filling.
