Fresh, flavorful food with friendly service. I arrived about 15 minutes before closing, and the staff were working toward breaking down for the day. Nonetheless, they were all pleasant (no eye-rolling at this establishment- which I hate to say seems to be the new normal!) and even let me sample something I had a question about... Chicken salad veggie pocket was fresh, crisp and full of fresh ingredients. The miso dressing is so good! Can't wait to be back in Buffalo so I can get it again. The menu is similar to before: daily combo, soup, sandwiches, wraps, salads, desserts, etc. Same great crew and good service. Waited about 5 minutes in line then another 5-10 minutes for food. I ordered the tuna salad "veggie"... I meant to get the salad version but she asked if I wanted "regular", and not knowing what that was, I agreed. Turns out that was served in a thin pita. Gyro & Egg Breakfast Sandwiches 7/10 The meat isn't very fresh tasting, it probably came frozen. It's over cooked and very dry. I ended up taking half of it off. It comes with feta on it already, and you get a choice of cheese too, I picked more feta, but there's barely any on it at all. I was iffy about it being on a roll instead of a bagel or English muffin, but it actually works well for the sandwich. I think some tzatziki would be good on this too or a thin sliced tomato. And of course more Feta. Lentil vegetable soup - my coworker loved it. It was full of ingredients rather than broth. Sue's still has it. For an unassuming, inexpensive lunch, they always hit the spot. My go-to items are the avocado wraps, chicken "philly," and some of the sides they have out on display are generally delightful. In particular, they had an awesome spinach/macaroni/feta salad that I couldn't help but devour every bite of and a decent fruit salad as well. Their reuben is also near perfect with grilled bread, sauerkraut and delectably seasoned corned beef. I recommend it. Expect to wait up to 20-25m for lunch if you haven't ordered ahead, but it's worth it. The desserts/rice pudding/cheesecakes are also really reasonably priced. Recommended! read more

We ordered lunch from here and the general consensus is we won't be doing that again. First, the name NY Deli is deceiving. You cannot consider yourself a NY Deli if you don't even offer an assorted sub. Second, NY dell's offer a lot of meat, they definitely don't. Third, we each got different items and all of our food was very bland. The ham and cheese melt was a basic hot ham and cheese sandwich. The chicken shawarma was not a shawarma at all. It was frozen grilled chicken strips wrapped with lettuce and tomatoes. The salad was a decent size, and it's really hard to screw up a salad, but they barely give you enough dressing. I'm glad my first time trying this was for free because I would have been truly disappointed if I spent my money. read more

This place recently changed its name. The owner originally owned Katz in NYC, and someone got injured eating a sandwich, and filed a lawsuit. The owner said 'nobody Sues MY Deli" and immediately closed up shop and moved to Buffalo. Then as a nod to their last words as owner of Katz, they opened this deli under the moniker "Sues MY Deli." It was all going swimmingly, until someone filed a trademark infringement lawsuit. Apparently there is already a Sues MY Deli. In New Delhi. So they changed one letter, and now all is well. What to get: Reuben. This came highly recommended by the three Alexs (yes the two Alexs just had a baby Alex. Don't ask me how. I guess they took their lead from Arnold in that movie. Not the "it's not a tumour" movie. The other one.)... and so I gave it a try. The Reuben was exceptional. I could eat this all day. And given that I am a very slow eater, I probably did eat this all day. Nom. (waits 20 mins). Nom. (waits 20 mins). Nom. It's my fave Reuben in town, easily, even above all the other awesome sandwich shops. Try it. Even Alex K loves it. It's juicy and fantastic and was definitely the best thing I tried here. They do close very early (2.30 but often earlier) and so you should get here early if you want to try it. I started working downtown and heard about this place a few times from coworkers. I won't lie, it's easy to miss this place, but the prices are decent for what they are, and what they serve. I've gone here twice this week, once for a breakfast sandwich, the other for lunch. I got eggs, cheese, and avocado on a roll, and it was ok. The avocado definitely could've been cut smaller, but it was a nice, tasty filling breakfast! Maybe a bit of seasoning on the eggs, but for a quick bite, it was perfect. I ordered a salad today, it had all the fixings: chicken, avocado, tomato, sprouts, cucumber, crunchy noodle, romaine lettuce. It was ok. Unfortunately, the salad lacked flavor, but the homemade house dressing was delicious. Again, avocado wasn't really cut up, but lots of it! I was able to just chop the rest myself. The lettuce out weighed the toppings, but I ate about 3/4 of the salad before being full. Chicken needs some seasoning, less grill time, maybe more toppings. Each time I've ordered, I've walked in 10-15 minutes later, and the order is getting bagged and ready to go. Friendly and fast service. Would I eat there again? Maybe, but defiantly worth the try if you're looking for a new variety of food that day. read more

So many choices, great specials! Made the walk down from Buffalo General Hospital, almost a mile but it beats the hospital cafeteria. I walked in about 10:30 AM and not all the lunch options were available but I was able to get there roast beef special with a salad. The roast beef was on nicely toasted Costanzo roll with Horseradish cream sauce and a side of chips and pickle. For a side I wanted one of their specialty salads but they were not available so I went with the cream of broccoli soup. I am responsible for booking catering at my work for meetings or events. For the last one, I decided to try someplace new and I was going only on the Yelp reviews of my friends because I had never been to Sue's myself. What a score! I ordered an assortment of sandwiches and the Sue's Salad. Nearly everyone in attendance asked where I had ordered from and raved about the salad. I was asked to order from them again. I watched a vegetarian in the group enjoy two hearty platefuls. She, in particular, expressed her enthusiasm more than anyone. Also, my boss was VERY pleased with the price. There's a reason this place receives so many 4 and 5 stars reviews. This is as good as it gets!!! Their specials are a steal. For $6.45 I had a gyro greek wrap with a side of chips, pickle and one of their specialty salads (of which there are many!! tuna pasta, fruit salad, spinach and feta, the list goes on). What a steal! My wrap was perhaps the best gyro wrap I've ever had. The meat was so delicious and all the ingredients were crisp and in perfect proportion. Big chunks of feta cheese - just the right amount - lettuce, tomatoes and greek dressing, served in the softest pita ever. A cup of dill sauce was on the side. Everything here is really just wonderful. I wish this place was across the street from wherever I happened to be at any given time so I could get an egg salad pita pocket. The food is super fresh (avocado wrap & egg salad pita are SO GOOD) and they make everything to order. The daily special is always a great deal too. They update their website daily (AWESOME!) to list the special- some type of sandwich or wrap with salad or a cup of soup. And this isn't just any salad... they have homemade pasta and rice salads and sometimes even fruit salad! They also treat their customers well. My fiance eats here almost every day (he works across the street... yes, I'm jealous) and one day the credit card machine was down. He didn't have any cash but the owner let him have the sandwich since he's in there all the time. Really awesome place for lunch! If you're downtown make it a point to stop here. read more

WOW!! Delicious!! Friendly! Affordable!! I should have called ahead because they are BUSY at lunch (& based on their fan base, service and quality of food, I'd guess they're also busy for breakfast). Arrived just before 12:00pm and there was a long line. Luckily it moves pretty fast and everyone working at Sue's is really working well and efficient to keep us moving along. As a first timer, and reading all the reviews, I wanted to try everything! I decided on the special of Chicken Philly Wrap with spinach and feta salad. I put my order in and they moved on to the next person. While waiting in line, the tuna salad looked fantastic so I asked if I could sample. They were so busy. To my surprise, they included a small scoop in the to-go container! They had added a note to my order stub to include a bit! WHAT SERVICE!!! 5 STARS! Not only was it included in my to-go container, the woman taking orders made a comment to the man working behind her that "#8 wants to try the tuna salad." He put some in a small container for me to taste while I was waiting for my order to be made. I'm so impressed, was amazed at how delicious that was and can't wait to return to bring more business to such a deserving team. Back at the office, when opening the to-go container, the Chicken Philly wrap was still warm, the spin/feta salad had great flavor AND they include chips and a pickle. For less than $10!! What a deal! End result - with my weekly trips to Buffalo, and this wonderful place within a block from my office, I'll be back next week. Oh my gosh am I glad we tried this place! I got the gyro wrap with a side of fresh fruit. It's the best gyro wrap I've ever had! The pita was so soft and flavorful, and the dill sauce that came with it was just unreal! You know how I know I loved it? Because I completely ignored the pickle!! You can always tell the quality of the restaurant by how fresh their fruit looks. I can't believe how fresh the fruit was! I am currently still eating my first meal from Sue's and had to write this anyway. I stumbled into Sue's because the place I had planned on going to for lunch was closed as it is MLK Jr. Day. Having never been here before, I read over the menu for a few minutes before deciding. Firstly, the menu has plenty of options, which was nice. Secondly, there were a decent amount of people, but the service was efficient and quick. I had planned to order a turkey melt but said tuna instead (still not sure why), but it ended up working in my favor because the tuna melt is great. I also wanted a salad, but the woman informed me it was a meal in itself. She offered to sort of recreate a simpler version of the salad as a side, which was very kind of her. Great place, walked by here looking for something to eat around 1:00 and saw lots of people sitting here eating so figured it was a good sign. Ordered a Reuben Sandwich and a cup of Chili. Service was quick and the food was good, Chili was very tasty and you can tell it was prepared that day, the Reuben was good however I expected .... something more , the Corned Beef was tasty but I've certainly had more tender meat. That was my only gripe and quite frankly such a minor thing that didn't really spoil my meal If you're here and need a bite to eat this would be a good choice for sure. read more

I love going to Sue's for lunch! I work right down the street and come here every once in a while. Prices aren't too bad for downtown and appreciate all the vegetarian options. I mostly go for the falafel. I don't think I've ever had a bad sandwich yet and the falafel is nice and tender. I've been to other place where it has been really dry. Also, the Veggie chili is excellent and really hits the spot on a cold Buffalo afternoon. The line situation can be a little confusing some times and would be nice if there was a barrier to help organize it and the lobby can be a little nosy and hard to here orders being called out. It's good. It's cheap. It has a couple really really good vegan menu items. Might I recommend the avocado wrap? It's a delightful mix of flavors and textures. I've enjoyed everything I've eaten here, vegan or not. The staff is always friendly and I've found them to be very warm. The dollar to delicious ratio here is quite favorable, especially with the specials. Only downside? It's own popularity. It's not the sort of place you stop in, grab something quickly, and leave. Seeing that we are both students, having enough time to head from UB to downtown and get lunch between classes isn't exactly easy. This family run business is downright delicious! I ordered the chicken philly, as it was the special. For the wrap and a side salad or soup, it was under like $7 I think. I got the lemon pepper pasta salad, but they had chicken waldorf salad, Moroccan couscous, and a few others (all of which could be used for my side!) My boyfriend got the chicken shwarma and turkey vegetable soup. We both pretty much wolfed down everything. My sandwich was warm, gooey, and absolutely delicious. My boyfriend loved his food as well. I can't wait to come back here to try something else! Their special deals are a steal, and everything is cooked to perfection and tastes phenomenal. OMG. How have I worked down the street from this place since our office moved a few months ago and never tried it? SO GOOD! I will keep this really simple... Fresh, tasty, and cheap..... the total package. For $6 I ate the best chicken souvlaki I have ever tried and my friend got a veggie pita that was massive for $5.50 with a side of lentil rice with veggies for $2. The staff is super nice and the place is clean and easily accessible. I pledge right now to eat at this place every possible time I can. Sue's is a staple in my life. I have worked upstairs at Theater Place for 3 years and have gotten to know Al and his staff quite well. Not only is the food top quality and delicious, but the staff is warm and welcoming. They are on a first name basis with many of their patrons and you always get a genuine "Thank you" for placing your order. I can tell you that the produce and baked goods are all brought in and prepared fresh DAILY! Don't be fooled by such a small and somewhat discreet location, lunch is ALWAYS busy and if time is something that you don't have then be sure to CALL AHEAD! They will gladly make your food to order with enough time and you can even jump the line when you get there to pick up and pay! I love Sue's. The soups are great; I'm a huge fan of the Hungarian mushroom. The daily salad variety is also wonderful; I've had and love the spinach feta, the waldorf, and the tabbouli. The falafel wrap is the best I've had anywhere -- and huge. I usually take half home for dinner. Chicken souvlaki wrap is also wonderful, and my friend swears by the Chicken Philly. The grapeleaf platter is amazing: six warm stuffed grapeleaves with a side of dill sauce, hummus and a side salad of your choice. The prices are great for the quality and the sheer quantity of food you receive. The only reason I don't come here more often is because it's too popular. There is always a long wait. read more

When I walked in to Sue's NY Deli, the line to order coiled around the lobby and was at least 15 people deep, and I thought about walking away. But then I thought again, and that thought was, "Could the line be so long because the food is that good?" As crazy as that sounded to me, I decided to wait it out. The line moved as slowly as it looked like it would. In time and throughout the chaos and desperation, those of us wishing to eat food formed (3) lines: Line 1 (ordering line), Line 2 (payment line) and Line 3 (pickup the food line). Line 1 was ultra-slow, Line 2 moved as fast as lightning strikes and Line 3 didn't even remotely budge for what felt like forever. I was beginning to think that the meal I was expecting to eat was no longer going to be lunch but was going to be dinner next Thursday. I did eventually get served food and it seemed worth the wait. To beat the lines, I noticed that those that called in an order skipped the first two lines and went straight to the front to pay and pickup (food for thought). I ordered the chicken breast on the 8" roll. I also got the chili because, well let's be honest friends, chili is awesome. The food was terrific. The chili was spicy, meaty and impressive. I would eat "chili" if it was old, shredded yoga mats covered in tomato paste and kidney beans and I would like it, but I really liked Sue's chili. In close, I didn't care for the ridiculously long wait in line, but the food here is superb. I suggest that Sue's either gets bigger print on the hanging menu, or place it in front of the storefront instead of behind. It was tough to read the small print on the menu when I was standing 1/4 mile away from the registers. Both sandwiches were made the home style way.Two pieces of white bread (there are other choices) romaine lettuce, tomato, mayo, and a crispy pickle on the side. You have the option of having it toasted. Side note: this place is located inside the Niagara Center - a federal facility. It has a cafeteria style setup. And it gets busy during lunch. And...it's downtown. Therefore, account for an extra 15 mins to find metered parking and going through a security check point. Holy moly! There you have it. Sue's is one of the best places for lunch downtown. They have a bunch of different wraps and sandwiches as well as pasta salads/sides. They also have a lot of vegetarian options. I'm not a vegetarian, but my favorite meal here is the avocado wrap. The cookies are also amazing. They always taste fresh and are nice and soft in the middle. It's funny. I used to live on the Danforth in Toronto and one of my favorite places to eat was The New York Diner, which offered some of the best greek food on the Danforth. The owners inherited the name and never changed it. Sues reminds me a little of that place. There doesn't appear to be a Sue, and it's more Greek than NY, and more lunch counter than diner. The array of sauces for the Wraps makes the same wrap a delight each time. Go for the specials, stay for the soup. It's my go to lunch place. read more
