Burgundy beef stew, house salad with chicken on side
    Tania P.

It's lunch time !!! Me and co-workers are hungry, we need meal that is tasty but also also quick because time is money. So today we decided to check out Roux Soup Bar located in Penny Burchfield. I was soo excited to find out that Roux is actually owned by Terrace at Delaware!! If you've ever eaten there you know you are in for a treat. So I'll admit I've been there 2 times since I heard of it and I'll definitely back again. They switch up their soups weekly i believe but keep the same salad and sandwiches. The first ttime I got the Beef Burgundy soup with their garden salad, I added chicken. I could actually taste a hint a Burgundy wine, this soup was so nice, warm and filling. I enjoyed the salad too, chicken was flavorful and juicy. Second time around, of course I got the Shrimp Bisque, because how could I not ? I was surprised they actually had numerous sizeable pieces of shrimp. This soup was creamy and hearty ...yet kind of light if that makes sense. Definitely the perfect comfort food for kind of a gloomy day. Paired with a simple Ceasar Salad which i added chicken to what more could a girl ask for. The staff were very nice, if you are eating in they bring the food to you which nice because Roux is more like a take out café. In addition, the have a nice selection of ice tea and gourmet pop/ soda. If you soup lover and looking to check out a new spot Roux is definitely the move !!

Delicious food! Definitely a great place to eat if you're visiting the museum. Their soup and sandwich combo is wonderful.

Also an everything bagel with cream cheese, lots of cream cheese, warm and wrapped up well. More like a denser style bagel- not hard. Very good. I got chocolate in my Americano, the standard amount they put in was perfect. You can taste the chocolate and the coffee, not too sweet! Seating area is small and cute. Perfect for two people to sit and chat. Not good for a family or children. We did have our three year old and new born. We had never been here before and had already made our toddler wait to get a croissant so we had to make it work. If you know you know. But he is well behaved so it was fine. I would definitely stop here again if I didn't have kids with me or even to have a one on one date with my son.

Upon entering, no one greeted me, and I felt rushed while looking over the menu. When I asked questions, it felt like I was inconveniencing the employee rather than being helped. I ordered the blueberry lemon bar matcha and hoped the drink would redeem the experience, but it was disappointing. The flavor combination didn't work well in a matcha drink, and it left a strange aftertaste/coating in my mouth. I also specifically requested no dairy (asked for oat milk) yet it still came topped with cold foam, which upset my stomach. It looked cute, but for nearly $9, it wasn't enjoyable. I had originally planned to order food as well, but the overall atmosphere and interaction felt so uncomfortable that I decided to just take my drink and leave.

Little did I know I'd be coming into my favorite type of literally "everything"! Eclectic and vintage decor with absolutely perfect use of vintage and antique kitchen and table ware. A very interesting and fun repurposing of an old building/house. Very friendly, patient and helpful employees (apologies to the very kind woman at the counter, because when I'm excited I tend to chatter a lot). The baked goods were delicious, the whole grain toast was hearty and so full of flavor. The croissant was large, flaky and buttery. My husband's apple cake was moist and the frosting was perfect. I really enjoyed the coffee and since they don't grind the beans for you, I bought the bag of their signature blend then stopped at Walmart for a coffee bean grinder. I love savory for breakfast so I had 2 soft boiled eggs, ham, gruyere cheese, whole grain toast and pesto. When my plate came I was very pleased to see the vintage items used and some repurposed very cleverly. If the decor isn't your "thing"...make a visit for their food and coffee.

I ordered the Britney: smoked salmon, onion, cucumber, and lemon scallion dill cream cheese on a rosemary salt bagel. The second I opened the wrapper I was hit with the smell of fresh rosemary, which immediately sold me. Flavor-wise, this sandwich was lovely. The smoked salmon tasted fresh and paired perfectly with the lemon scallion dill cream cheese. The cucumbers added the right amount of freshness and crunch, and the bagel itself had beautiful flavor. My only issue was the texture of the bagel. It was very hard, and toasting it unfortunately made it even tougher. Every bite turned into a bit of a balancing act because the sandwich kept falling apart. Still, the flavors were strong enough to make up for it. Overall, I really enjoyed it and I'm excited to go back again. Definitely won't wait years next time. 7.9/10
