Being in Buffalo and the surrounding areas, you come across a plethora of sandwich shops. But in all my years of living in Buffalo, I have never seen a sandwich shop like this. Artusi features sandwiches that are made using Neapolitan style pizza dough (folded) bake in open fire ovens. The concept is very unique and the variety of choices is definitely mouthwatering. Just when you thought Artusi is just about spectacular sandwiches, you find out they have a hidden kitchen restaurant. The restaurant features their dinner options that is only available when you make reservations. The dining room for dinner is very small so reservations may fill up quickly. Finally you will notice the prices are on the higher side of things, but the quality of the food, paired with the concept of the restaurant. I feel it's well worth it The Chick- a- D- This sandwich (piega) consisted of very well seasoned Chicken cutlets, mozzarella, roasted peppers, and basil pesto. Absolutely Deeee-licious.

So good! Love the Italian street food concept. I got the Italian- prosciutto fig jam and arugula. My husband got the chick a d which was chicken, cutlet, roasted red peppers, mozzarella, pesto. We split the chop chop salad, which was also fresh and crispy. The place is very cute and very clean. The staff were friendly. Parking on both sides of the building. We finished it off with some cappuccinos to go and try some of their cookie baked goods. All in all everything was delicious and we can't wait to return and try other combinations.

Artusi is our go-to spot for something fast and healthy. Their seasonal salads are out of this world with local produce and the most recent Greek salad with the creamiest feta & olives were to die for. The folded over pizza Sammie's are tasty and the house roasted turkey with arugula, garlic aioli, peppers, and prosciutto is my favorite. I usually save the other half or share with my husband. He ordered the chicken cutlet option that was tasty as well. Artusi has a "hidden menu" on the weekends and that's reservations only. You can choose from various appetizers, entrees, and desserts. We want to try that next! If you're looking for high quality Italian using seasonal and local ingredients, Artusi is your answer!

The space is absolutely perfect - seating on one side for quick orders and a separate space for sit down quieter dinner away from the open kitchen. It is clean and comfortable, very cute. Now to the food -- delicious! We had the chop chop salad which was overall a "standard" salad, the chicka D sandwich, which is a cutlet sandwich very tasty not as heavy as I expected which was lovely, and the club which was definitely my favorite. Dressed and seasoned wonderfully, creamy sauce on it that left me wanting more. They even have Italian imported drinks and water in their cooler for quick orders. I can't wait to come back to try their espresso/cortado! Great new neighborhood staple.

Delicious folded pizza with lots of choices of fillings and was so good. We tried the first and really enjoyed it! Will be back to try some more soon

This was my first time dining in but I've ordered twice for lunch before. The chairs aren't very comfortable. It was cold inside the restaurant and the fruit flies were pretty bothersome. There were 6 of us and everyone seemed happy with their food. All of us got the sandwiches except one who had the soup of the day and she enjoyed it. I had the First and I substituted spinach for the pepperoni. It was just okay for me. Out of the two I've gotten - I've also gotten the slab - I find it to be too dry - there needs to be more sauce. Other than that it's very good. I also brought home a Cup of Joy (cookies) for my husband - I tried one - excellent! It was a chocolate shortbread cookie - yum. When I had their tomato soup it was delicious. I'll be back but will ask for more sauce and if I dine in hopefully the temperature is warmer and the fruit flies are gone.

Tried another sandwich shop ,which was supposed to be open until 6:30 and was closed at 6:20 when we arrived. So we decided to try this restaurant.. I got the Classic and my wife the Club. Neither one of us really enjoyed our sandwiches. My wife said the Arugula over powder the taste of the Turkey and Prosciutto. I didn't like the sauce on my meatballs and the cheese hadn't melted. The two stars of our meal were the pizza dough used and the cup of cookies, both were delicious. Service was great. You order at the counter and they deliver to your table. Very plain and cafeteria type of interior. Very clean and sterile. They have a fridge stocked with different beverages and they do have wines. The prices are very steep for what you get. Most sandwiches are priced from $16-$18. Our bill was over $50 for two sandwiches, a pop, a cup of cookies and tip.

First time there. Food was of decent quality. Salad needed seasoning and better dressing. The server brought out everything at same time which I hate then forgot my drink. I really have no incentive to go back.

Never thought I be able walk back in here after Ziggy's Tacos and subs closed, and now here we are. What a transformation the shop did. The ambiance is so cute. Kind of gives a mini upscale sandwhich shop. It's beautiful inside, and spacious. Love the open area behind counter to see the cooking. Now, what is a Piega? I'm sure they can explain it better, BUT for me it's a take in between a calzone and a sandwhich. They take Neapolitan pizza dough and basically make a sandwhich out of it. The pizza dough was sooooo good. You could eat that with just some oils and keep it moving. Which I do believe they offer. So they have 9 sandwhiches, we tried three of them (can't wait to try the other 6) The first, was basically a folded pizza. Loaded with perfectly charred pepperoni, and the roasted red peppers and basil pesto was just yum! The Nani Jo, loaded with very fresh veggies, roasted red peppers, fennel, red onions then add in some spiced cappacola, lemon aioli, basil and provolone. This sandwhich was so tasty and fresh. #7..I love anything with sausage! This one was crumbled fennel sausage, roasted fennel, roasted garlic, caramelized onions, black olives (which I removed don't like olives) then topped with loaded melted provolone. Again everything was fresh, the flavor top notch. They have cup of joy, which is a cup with joyful cookies! The cookies were sooo good. Nice sweet bite after the flavorful Piega! You can tell they love what they do. Very friendly. Was immediately greeted upon walking in. Smiles on everyone's face. Very welcoming.

Had lunch here today. Tried the classic. It had meatballs and mozzarella. Very good. Cute little place with parking on the side of the building, and a very friendly staff.

Seasonal salad with romaine instead of kale

Friendly service in a cozy atmosphere. There are two dining areas: one where you walk in and one off to the right of the ordering counter. Their menu is fairly small and contains piega (foldie sandwiches), salads & drinks. There were only two items (salads) that could be gluten free. I ordered a #7 Piega (fennel sausage, roasted fennel, roasted garlic, caramelized onion, back olives & provolone) & my friend ordered the seasonal salad with romaine instead of kale (see pics for description); they were happy to oblige her request. I also wanted to order the dirty earl from the menu, which they said they no longer serve :( however, they offered to make me an earl grey tea with milk & espresso as that was as close they could get to it. Our food came out in a decent amount of time with everything being made fresh... Even the bread for the Piega, which is wood fired. We both enjoyed our meals. My piega had good flavors that complimented each other. I was really excited about the fennel because I have not seen it as an ingredient anywhere else that I recall and I do so enjoy it. I just wish the provolone had been more melted so there would have been a cheese pull. The bathrooms were cutely decorated and clean.

Love it here! Such a hidden gem. The food is amazing. The lasagna was cooked fresh to perfection.

Ordered for pickup. Cute little place. Staff was friendly. Wood fired crust is crispy and delish! I had the Bianco- simple and tasty. Salad was exactly what was expected and crunchy crispy yummy biscotti for dessert. I love the idea of a folded crust. Will def eat here again.

The complementary bread was delicious, and weirdly so was the butter. I liked that it had salt on it. Oysters 10/10 From Maine, and they were huge! Burrata Salad 10/10 The burrata was so fresh and good! The earthy arugula paired nicely with it. And the balsamic was the perfect extra touch- unless it was the mustard dressing but i don't think it was. And I did like the hazelnuts, even though I didn't think I was going to. They were toasted a little bit. Continental 10/10 Veal was super thin and breaded. The breading was slightly soggy because of all the sauce on it but it was not bad though. The shrimps were a decent size and cooked perfectly. The pasta was great and you could tell it was homemade. The sauce was a really good scampi sauce. Slightly thicker than a traditional scampi, and I loved the amount of garlic and the garlic flavor of it. The broccolini was ok. The stems were a little bit hard, but the tops were good, and good in the sauce too. Seared Duck Breast 10/10 Duck was cooked perfectly. It had crispy skin on one side, and was a good temperature between medium and med rare. The flavor was also very good, and it was seasoned perfectly too. Celeriac purée was very earthy. The black currant red wine reduction was good, it had this very distinct flavor I can't place exactly. The spiced carrots were amazing. Banoffee Pie 10/10 This was a layered pie, and it was a huge slice! Plenty to share between two. It was chocolate shavings on top of a thick layer of whipped cream, a thick layer of banana cream pie, and a thick layer of homemade toffee, then the graham cracker crust. The banana cream pie had fresh bananas, and the toffee was thick and so flavorful. Everything paired together amazing and it was to die for. There was some extra toffee, chocolate, and I think a little honey on the plate for garnish as well as some dollops of custard, which was also really good. I could eat this whole thing every day.

Mind you this place is located near UB South, on Main Street so traffic can get tricky if you don't know what you're doing or where you're going. We walked in after parking on the street, and the door was propped open and the garage style window was open bringing a nice breeze into the restaurant. We went to the hostess booth and informed we had a reservation and were promptly sat near the patio window area so we definitely could people watch. Drinks: We both had water, I got a blackberry smash, and he had two grapefruit flavored beer (which was delicious and I'm not a beer person superbly). My blackberry smash was pretty strong and tasty- it lasted past the meal which is a good sign in my book to savor it. Dinner: He got the shrimp po boy (fried shrimp,Tabasco garlic sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, blue cheese crumble), on a roll and it comes with sweet potato fries. The shrimp was beautifully cooked and crispy with a well appropriately coated. The sweet potato fries were tangy and delicious. I got the blackened halibut kabobs (coconut rice, pineapple salsa, soy-sesame glaze). And a side of the rosemary Mac and cheese. The kabobs were so delicious- the halibut fell apart and was tender. Coconut rice was on point with the pineapple salsa, it was like a meal and a dessert at the same time. There were some peppers that had a kick so I gave them to him to eat and he loved them. I didn't even get to the Mac and cheese because the halibut was so filling! He had some Mac and cheese though and really enjoyed it. I had it boxed up for me to have a nice snack.
