First time dining at Zucca and with reservations we were told we'd be seated 5 minutes after arriving. A good 15 minutes went by until we were seated and taken cared of. The ambience was very cute and intimate. Unfortunately our waitress was rushed and upon asking about certain items she insisted that they were no longer available. The best thing that happened was when she passed the table on to our other waiter Jordy; (I believe was his name) who went above and beyond to take care of us. Night and day experience. Everything we ordered, food drinks & dessert was absolutely fantastic. Zucca Zucca Zucca, you allowed me to have a hella romantic anniversary dinner here and i believe it left a great impression on my girl. This is THE romantic dinner spot at Coral Gables, feels very upscale, cozy and dim, the atmosphere is just right. We were immediately greeted at our table, offered water along with some delicious rosemary bread that was crisp around the edges and incredibly soft and flavorful inside, it came with a side of olive oil and a sauce that had a tang to it, excellent paired together. Cocktails were solid, above average flavor but not mind blowing. Just right. We took our sips and nodded in content to each other. Appetizer time, the fried zucchini flowers with goat cheese and truffle honey, WOW. I'm a sucker for goat cheese and that sweet honey drizzle on top created this velvety, smooth, sweet, delicious bite every time. We also ordered the Popette D'agnello con Pomodoro E Ricotta, also known as the lamb meatballs served with tomato sauce and ricotta cheese. The ricotta gave it that umph, it really elevated the dish, it was a nice bite, but it didn't have me begging for more either, nice bite but i went right back to the fried zucchini. For our meals i went with the Ravioli Di Zucca Burro E Salvia, which is the ravioli stuffed with pumpkin in a light butter sauce. My fiancé was tugging on my plate and sneaking bites at every opportunity, this was the favorite, the winner, the damn best. It appeared simple, maybe a bit plain but it was far from that, the pasta cooked Al dente, the sweetness from the pumpkin mixing with the sage was insane, perfect balance of flavors, not too sweet, the butter sauce kept it savory and well balanced. I want to Postmates this dish every weekend. My partner ordered the Orecchiete with broccoli i rabe, stracciatella, and lemon breadcrumbs. Pasta cooked PERFECT, good flavor, a solid pick if you like a more simple pasta, and really like broccoli, it's the main flavor of this dish, i personally enjoyed the ravioli a lot more. And last but not least, the finale, the TIRAMISU. The BEST TIRAMISU IN MIAMI. There's no words for this dessert, i personally don't even care for tiramisu but THIS. You need this. Just try it, creamy, the cookie melts in your mouth, the coffee flavor is perfect. Can't wait to come back to Zucca. Really memorable and tasty. read more

Had a very lovely birthday dinner at Zucca. We decided to sit in their nice outdoor area. We started off with a bottle of wine, and the crudo di pesce. It was light but flavorful. The fish was very fresh. I then had the Paccheri di Gragnano which was delicious. It was a think stripped pasta with morsels of lobster in a lovely sauce. I devoured this dish. I have been to Zucca many times especially for special occasions. Today I took my best friend for her birthday and although the food was delicious our experience was tarnished by the quality of the service. Our waiter, initially was prompt and courteous, delivered our main course and subsequently disappeared, leaving us in a service limbo. I requested him with another waiter but he did not come. We needed more drinks, water,desert and coffee. But at that point I didn't want to give the restaurant anymore business. I ended up having to seek assistance from the hostess to get our check. After he delivered our main dish we didn't see him again. That is completely unacceptable. Later, we learned that our waiter had been reassigned to another section of the restaurant. While I can appreciate the demands of a busy service, it should never come at the cost of neglecting guests. The lack of attentiveness in the latter part of our dining experience overshadowed the stellar quality of the food. The experience ruined the special lunch I had planned for my friend. I will not be returning. It is very unfortunate that the hard work of the kitchen is tarnished by the waiter. read more

First off, I was not expecting to enjoy this place so much. I went as a business dinner, and this restaurant was picked by the customer. We ordered a few apps and dishes to share everything. When we told the waiter we were sharing everything, he asked if there was a particular order we wanted things to arrive. We left that up to him, and he proceeded to make sure everything was served to us directly onto our plates at the table. He served things as separate courses so our table didn't get loaded down with a bunch of plates. It was perfect. The pasta is delicious. We tried both the gnocchi and the caccio e Pepe. Definitely my favorite part of the meal. Also tried the meatball, cured meats charcuterie, sea bass, and veal chop. Everything was really. Very pricey, but very good. Would definitely recommend! We went for Miami Spice and got beyond impressed, we will be back for sure: I am puzzled, why they do not have a Michelin Star yet! The food have been consistently excellent, from the appetizers to the main courses to deserts, both the prep quality and the spice level and even the temperature, the cocktails were delicious as well (and they do not skimp on alcohol :)). The service was sublime, the correct tempo, the pauses between courses just right to facilitate a conversation but not to make you impatient. Polite, pleasant, informative and properly understated waiters and waitresses. The sound background unobtrusive, relaxing upscale vibe, twenties of the past century feel of the decor, brightened with bronze light shades and impeccably white roses and orchids. Dressed up crowd, relaxed, attractive bar. Very clean bathrooms. The area is accessible: we spotted both the young adults' couples and mature grown ups and ladies and gentlemen in wheelchairs in the neighboring streets. Valet parking would be very convenient (you can pick up your car at any valet station in the area), but not knowing this we parked in a garage (near the famed Motek that we visited on another occasion, and it was just a pheasant stroll away. Note this venue requires formal wear and no sports wear no hats, so ambiance although fine felt unwelcoming coming in for lunch with the rules on what you can and can't wear. Menu seems repetitive multiple dishes borrowing off the same protein or same salads - we ordered octopus starter which was chard overcooked on the grill, meatballs were not soft or tasty. The presentations were great but visuals are not a good indicator of fresh or great tasting food. Onto the mains - ordered sea bass and it was fishy to the taste and smell - I turned it back and settled for another fish fillet the second one was ok. Service was ok. Hosts were super friendly & bartender set us up, but then I think got busy because we had to wait a bit with our empty glasses. Unfortunately, the wine we had originally ordered must've been open too long as it had a funky taste, but the second glass was a fresh bottle & tasted a million times better (to the point that I traded glasses with my partner). My introduction to Zucca was at the South Florida Food and Wine Festival last year prior the pandemic. I remember they had a booth at the Italian Bites on the Beach event and they were giving out pumpkin ravioli samples. I had one and my stomach was instantly happy. Cue over a year later. My friend and I were going to the theater and debating what to eat beforehand. Somehow, we ended up choosing Italian (a shocking first for us). Once we settled on the cuisine and given that the theater we were going to was on Calle Ocho, well, we limited ourselves to that area and Coral Gables. I remembered this place, and well, I somehow convinced my friend to go with me (although let's be honest... Elian D. isn't hard to convince). Anyhow, I had originally thought this was next to one of my favorite places to eat, Lan Ramen-Ya, but it turns out this is further down a street or two. Passing by it, too, you might miss it. This restaurant is part of a hotel, the St. Michel one specifically, but both are easy to overlook given that you pass by there and just see a bunch of green shrubbery on the walls. For those wondering, if you see the green shrubbery, you've made it to the restaurant. I had booked us a reservation through OpenTable, but we really didn't need one. The restaurant is massive with both indoor and outdoor seating, and well, when we went, there was even a mini graduation gathering going on. The staff was very attentive and present. We never really had to flag them down. It was easy to order and enjoy our plates. We started off with their complimentary bread, which brought three accompaniments. The plates they gave us were made in a soda kiln, which was interesting to see in an Italian restaurant, especially given that we both had done a pottery course together a few years back. It started off what began a memorable evening to say the least. We ordered some wine, red for him, white for me, and then for the entries, he had the sedanini al sugo di filetto di angus (which really was some sort of pasta with Angus meat), while I, of course, went for what I previously mentioned eating and enjoying: the pumpkin ravioli! In all seriousness, eating that pumpkin ravioli once again was ethereal, heavenly, out of this world. Insert other adjectives/descriptions of amazingness and you got it, baby. Pillows fluffed al dente, sufficiently stuffed, specks of cheese splattered all about. Yum, yum, yum. If only for this dish, I'm dying to go back. That and maybe to sit at the bar. The ambiance is beautiful, very modern, and great for any special occasion. As for the end of this meal, well, we opted for coffee rather than dessert. Two cappuccinos. We didn't want to overeat as we were going to the theater after. It ultimately was a dinner to be remembered and I think at some point we will be back. We just need to figure out when it's merited. Located on the ground floor of the historic St. Michel Hotel. A rather large restaurant split into two sections on either side of the hotel entrance. We were served an excellent olive tapenade and olive oil with a great warm homemade ciabatta bread. Very nice wine list but on the pricey side. Really great and attentive service. My only complaint is when they serve the entrees, they don't know who ordered what and had to ask. Started with an Insalata Di Lenticchie Beluga, Barbabietole Arrostite, Nocciola E Feta,black beluga lentils salad with roasted baby beets, hazelnut, and feta cheese crumbles, super. For mains, I opted for the Trofie Al Sugo Di Moscardini Brasati, E Pomodorini Con Stracciatella Di Burrata, homemade "Trofie" pasta with braised baby octopus, fresh tomatoes and burrata stracciatella. My wife tried the Tagliatelle Ai Funghi Misti Con Fonduta Di Parmigiano E Caviale Al Tartufo Nero, tagliatelle with mixed wild mushroom, "parmigiano fonduta" and black truffle caviar. As much as I like ambiance and good service and drinks, food should also be at the forefront of a good dining experience and Zucca did not disappoint, on any front. I walked it and was initially slightly irked with our location right next to the bar, within the next few minutes, that concern completely vanished and was forgotten. That's how good the food, service and mood were at the restaurant. Delicious bread (focaccia?) was brought to our table almost immediately, along with oil, tomato and tapenade. I skipped the tapenade and somehow was able to resist eating all the bread myself. Our server, Jordi (so?) made what was a great experience even more enjoyable. He was warm and friendly and attentive but not overly so, which can sometimes interrupt the flow of dinner conversation. He was most helpful while we were indecisive (the perils of being a libra moon) on choosing our formaggi and settled on the selection of three and the prosciutto di Parma. It came with a generous helping of bread but not having enough carbs to go with the zucca version of spicy margaritas (a must) we also ordered a serving of the cacio e Pepe. Very kindly after finding out we were celebrating my good friend's birthday, we were fêted with a delicious tiramisu and limoncello. I'm almost embarrassed it's taken me so long to visit this Gables staple but it's definitely on my must return list. Not only was the food mediocre, but the wait for everything was soooooooooooo long. For the appetizer. For the main course. For the check. I have mixed feelings about this place. We had reservations on Sunday and we were running 10 min behind (Miami traffic ) so of course my mom wanted to call and let them know we're on our way, she must had callled like 7 times and no one answered !!! Not even the administration or the reservation extensions lines ! When we got there the host told us some BS lie about them not having internet so no phone line ?? Poor guy wasn't even a good liar, anyways it was empty and our table was ready. Now to the food..... delicious, we had the zucchini flower with goat cheese, the grilled octopus, lobster pasta, the veal malin, and clam pasta. We were all pleased with our food BUT !!! The service!!! Dreadful, slow, attitude problems. It was just one waiter and bus boys attending the tables they took forever with drinks and the food. The place wasn't even packed or full it had maybe 4 other tables besides us. The waiters didn't even come around to check in on us if we were ok or needed anything. They were all just walking around in circles or standing with the host and hostess talking and laughing. When we asked the blonde hostess where the restrooms were she didn't even look at us and just pointed towards the back, mind you! That this is the same hostess that just walks around the place and whenever she makes eye contact she gives you a attitude face ( we got it girl, you hate your life and your job ) when it was time to pay we saw that the 18% tip was included, no wonder these waiters don't even bother to check in on us and they take their sweet time and give you mediocre service because they don't need to work for their tip, they know that no matter how bad they were they're still getting the 18%. My parents always tip more than 22% as long as the waiter did their job right. But these waiter didn't deserve that. The food deserves all the praise but the service is horrible. I doubt I'll be coming back, I rather order the food take out and eat at my house than have to put up with the blonde hostess face attitude and the mediocre service of 5mph. Literally all of them just walking in circles and not once "how's everything?" In fact! I had to raise my hand and ask one of bus boys to serve my mom her wine because the glasses were empty and the bottle was there but not one of those waiters or bus boys could be attentive to the wine. This is basic hospitality training when you work in these restaurants! What a shame, such a lovely location, good food but the service left a lot to be desired. So my rating is the blend of food and service. We've been here before and service used to be spot on but.. - we arrived for a noon res on a Sunday, lots of staff, only a couple tables but building (there's a hotel next door, so noon is near checkout) - we waited 20 mins to place a drink order & it only happened bc I asked a runner if we had a server. The runner pulled our waiter back into the restaurant (he said he was "doing something that he needed to take care of and apologized) - 33 mins to get a drink and one of their signature cocktails they couldn't make bc missing an ingredient - I had to ask what the specials were - the zucchini blossoms are normally great but it felt like these had taken on a bit more oil than usual and then drizzled w truffle honey - runners are good and do a great job of presenting the food - entrees were amazing, the mushroom pasta and short rib ravioli - so here's the thing.. they comped the drinks, the waiter apologized, the rest of the staff stepped up and then some to make us happy. Ambiance is quaint, chic and very dreamy. The outside has vibe covered walls and large glass windows. The service was good. Restaurant staff was great. I went for my birthday dinner, party of 7. The appetizers was delicious especially their carpaccio. I ordered the zucchini blossoms and I was not disappointed!! The ones with goat cheese were crispy creamy and sweet. Probably my favorite flavor combo all night. The drinks were DELICIOUS and strong. Wine was a good selection. They did give me a birthday gift of truffle salt and rosemary olive oil which was the sweetest gesture and really made an impression.
