Last night, that was the case for me and Oscar at the bar was just outstanding. I asked him how the mahi-mahi tacos were and he gave them his highest recommendation. For a beverage? Water and lime thank you very much. His service was prompt, personalized and kind. Believe me, I made quick work of the three delicious tacos that appeared before me. Generously portioned on toasted flour tortillas with just the right amount of pickled vegetables, well executed fish and a little chipotle crème that makes the while dish come together. We stayed here both before our cruise and after. I ordered the calamari at the bar the first night, which the bartender told me was excellent. It came and I discovered it was calamari, soggy zuchini pieces and okra, I think. The calamari was overcooked and rubbery. On the second night, my wife and I ordered room service. I got a burger and she got a bowl with farro and quinoa. Both came in a brown box, delivered in a paper bag. Seriously, no plates, no regular utensiles. I picked my hamburger up and my bun was so soggy, it fell apart on the first bite. I could not even hold it to eat it because it was kept falling apart. My wife was trying to eat her bowl and her plastic spoon broke causing the food to spill all over the bed. There was no table in the room for us to eat at, so we had to eat on the bed. Not a good experience at all. I do not recommend this restaurant and can't say a $20 hamburger that is so soggy that it falls apart is ever worth the money! read more

This place is incredibly frustrating for the simple fact that I want to like it, but can't. That may sound a little perplexing, so allow me to elaborate. Chances are, an in-hotel Latin-ish bar and grill such as this would perform ten times better in any other state that wasn't Florida. For those who don't already know, I despise pretty much everything about this state that exhibits its inherently bass-ackwards nature. Let me give you some examples.. 1.) When you walk up to this place, there's no apparent "entrance point", no welcome sign instructing you to either 'wait to be seated' or 'please seat yourself'. Nope. None of that. Which inevitably leads to.. 2.) No hostess in sight. Also, you can forget about servers, as they seem to either be so short staffed the bartenders are actually the ones serving the dining room OR.....they have a couple servers who perhaps don't give a f*#k. I'm betting it's the latter because.. 3.) Whenever we were finally acknowledged, seated, and able to place our order (15 minutes later), our food still ended up arriving well before any drinks did. For context, we made sure to order everything all at once, since we got the vibe we'd likely have to send a search party for our server if we ever wanted to place a follow-up order. Oh, and it's interesting to note that as all of this pathetic service is taking place, there is an automatic 18% gratuity tacked onto the bill. I actually don't have a problem with this, since it means the servers get paid regardless of IF and how much of an additional tip I leave. It also saves me the trouble of doing the math myself, as I wouldn't have left anything more than 15% in this case anyway. I've said in the past how much service matters just as much as the product you're consuming. So, while the food was....decent for what it was, it still couldn't make up for the long wait times and lack of acknowledgement throughout. I wonder if we would have gotten better treatment sitting at the actual bar. Since my teenage son was with us, we opted for a table. Far as the food goes, it ranged from okay to below average. According to wifey, her buffalo wings were below par. I'm kind of surprised, since this is usually a pretty easy dish for most bar and grill establishments to nail. My burger was fine, seasoned rather generously, to my surprise. Fries were good, too. It's a shame they couldn't be bothered to toast the bun. 7 out of 10 for the well seasoned burger sitting atop of a soggy bun. We only went here because it was late, we were all exhausted as much as we were hungry, and this one literally won the proximity wars, so to speak. I mean, when you've got 3 Marriott hotels all sitting near each other in a star-like formation, patrons are bound to crossover to any restaurant, regardless of which hotel it physically sits in. At any rate, the only way I'd return to this restaurant is if I sat directly at the bar. The menu looked promising, so I'd likely try other things. Still, first impressions matter. And based on that, I am giving Cane Fire Grill in the Marriott 2 tasty burgers on soggy buns (oh, the paradox) out of 5. read more

This eatery is located in the lobby area of the Miami Airport Marriott. TVs are around the tables and bar area, but no sound is present. The menu is simplistic, and I wanted something easy to handle. The Philly Cheesesteak Sliders was the selection. The fries are considered an extra charge if you want this combo. Yuengling beer was available on this side of the Mississippi and was welcomed by me. I know that hotels charge based on knowing they have you captivated and it's about convenience but if you're going to charge $52 for a 12 oz ribeye you should live up to it. Very disappointed! It was an uneven cut which can't be cooked to your temperature preference evenly. The meat tasted like it was frozen or not fresh and really reminded me of steak you would get at a mediocre Mexican restaurant. The dishes were dirty, had to send a cup back because of brown rim that scraped off with my knife. The atmosphere is okay but loud. This place absolutely missed the mark for a $120 dinner with the 18% auto gratuity added. At least the server was nice, but I would definitely not eat here again. read more

When you ask for water you get 10% water with 90% ice so we were constantly without water during our meal. The crab poppers appetizer was a great portion and yummy, you get 3 for $9. Plenty of sauce. Our main course was the cheese ravioli and I'm still trying to get rid of the garlic flavor in my mouth the day after... ugh! The dish I received was a child's portion doused in an unreasonable amount of oil, and lots of onions, which were not listed as an ingredient on the menu. We were charged a nonnegotiable 18% gratuity for two people even though our server ignored us and lavished his attention the big drinking tables. I went to this restaurant for lunch as I was attending a comic con in this hotel. The first thing I noticed is the tables are clean and hostesses are friendly. The wait staff and behind the scenes staff were mostly maskless. I personally choose to wear a mask and at this event I wore a mask. At the restaurant, there are cloth napkins and regular silverware. The lunch menu is fairly small in size. There are salads and handhelds. The kids section only has two choices. I took my time looking over the menu. I was deciding between Caesar salad and cheese quesadillas for my lunch. My waiter was kind enough to get me a straw which I requested. Yes, this place has straws upon request. I finally decided to order the cheese quesadillas. I decided not to add another protein as this costs extra. My lunch came within a reasonable time. The portion of the quesadillas was a decent size. There was five quesadillas that were nicely served on a wood like board. The quesadillas came with guacamole and sour cream on the side. They were stuffed to the rim and I had to use my fork towards the end as the filling was coming out of the quesadillas. The filling of the quesadillas consisted of cheese, tomatoes, corn and black beans but also came with peppers which they do not mention on the menu. After I ate, for some reason, I was craving something sweeter. The quesadillas costs $13 plain and the portions are decent. The food quality is great and it was well presented. The food wasn't spoiled. I decided to tip the waiter 20 percent as I want to support the food service industries which have been hard hit by the covid19 pandemic. Overall, I would recommend this place for lunch especially if you want healthier options with good food quality and cleanliness. I haven't tried breakfast or dinner there yet. The one issue I had is that the menu wasn't transparent about all the ingredients in the quesadillas. As a result of the transparency issue on the menu, I'll knock it down to 3.5 out of 5. Have I been to hotels with better quality of food and cleanliness? Yes. Is this place worth $15 for lunch? Yes but options are limited. For the purposes of the review I marked 4 stars but it's really 3.5 . read more

I wandered over here to the Marriot from the Courtyard across the way to grab something to eat since Champions was closed. Expectations are already pretty low for being a hotel bar but I've eaten at many and thought it would at least be OK. First, compared to the Courtyard, it was absolutely freezing. I thought too late of asking to get my food to-go because it was almost unbearable but I am kind of a freeze baby. Customer service was GREAT! The bartender who helped me was kind, attentive, and expedient. What I am writing about is THE FOOD. The food was dismal, bland, and unimaginative. I ordered the chicken fricassee and I wondered if maybe there was a salt shortage in the kitchen or some sort of experiment to see how dry you could make a bone-in chicken thigh because that is what I got. The jasmine rice had been steamed too long but it was the best part of the meal. The asparagus was just steamed, no butter, no oil, no salt, nothing. Just hot asparagus. The green olives and tomato sauce tasted good but also as if they came out of a can. I was so hungry though I ate most of it and then when my tummy settled down, I couldn't handle it. So blank of anything I could have painted a picture on top of it. And on top of all that, I paid over $19 for the privilege to eat part of something that tasted microwaved. read more

LOVED the minimal design of red lights in the entrance of the restaurant. They have happy hour from 4pm -7 pm. Me and my husband shared the fried calamari which was amazing ! Yes , it's fried but it was not greasy. Then my husband decided on the Brisket Sandwich , DELISH. I had to grab a bite. I decided for the Caribbean Conch Soup , it was late and didn't want nothing heavy. I thought it would be a heavier consistency. It was watered down but still pretty good. As far as drinks , My Husband got the Cane Fire Mojito ! So good . I got the Old Fashion 8 , I complained to my husband how it was a small glass cup but it was STRONG ! I had to water it down. I understood why it was a small glass cup. Overall , great service. The kitchen was a bit backed up so we waited just a bit but the calamari lasted till we receive our food. It was a little on the expensive side since it's in a hotel, but the food was tasty and hot. We came to this restaurant for lunch while staying here. Our waiter, Jorge was friendly, accommodating and extremely attentive which made the experience even better. We ordered a Caesar salad, cheese quesadillas, a burger and the Miami Cobb salad which wasn't listed on the menu but was suggested by our waiter as a dinner special. After a long day of traveling, this was exactly what we needed. Every dish after the next was fresh and flavorful. My husband and I were staying at the Miami Airport Marriott and arrived late in the evening and figured we'd just get something to eat at the hotel. The Cane Fire Grille was open and they were able to seat us fairly quickly, so we opted for dinner at this place. My memory is a bit of a blur as it was a month ago, so I can't remember completely what we ordered- but I tend to order beef an think I had the filet or similar and my husband usually orders fish- so he probably had salmon or ahi. We do recall that the food was very good though and service also very good. Everything we asked for, was provided in a timely manner and when we didn't finish our bottle of wine, the waiter brought us clean glasses to take back to the room to finish our bottle of wine! The thing that really impressed us- was the next morning when we went to leave our hotel room, we had a note card from our server thanking us for coming to the restaurant and hoping we enjoyed our meal, wine and service. I've NEVER received a thank you card from a hotel restaurant before- so that stuck with me. In fact, I kept the note card so that I would remember the name of the restaurant and be able to write this review- even if I am a month late! :) read more

When you get good service you don't always get good food but in the case of Cane Fire Grille the stars have aligned and smiled on this restaurant. Overall the food was great and the salad I ordered with chicken was a very large portion and a n equally a good value for the price. The only issue was the server who was MIA during the meal. Delicious. I had the grilled salmon with vegetable. They added a sweet asian sauce the really made the salmon outstanding (ask for extra sauce). My friend had the asparagus salad and she ate every morsel. She also had a bowl of fish chowder, I had the black bean soup. For dessert, I had the creme brulee ( one of my all time favorites) and my friend had the key lime pie and she enjoyed her dessert. The hotel is beautiful and the service was exceptional. Our waiter Noel treated us exceptionally well and his smile was infectious!!! Beautiful hotel, huge chairs but very comfortable.
