ZooCade was our family's first virtual reality experience, and it turned out to be a really fun way to spend the afternoon. They offer several different VR adventures, and we picked Life Chronicles because of a Yelp review. The experience lasted just under an hour. Once the headsets were on, it didn't take long to get pulled into the game. I found myself ducking, leaning and more than once telling my husband to be careful about getting so close to the edge of a drop off. We were all laughing and talking about it afterward. Before you start, they have free lockers where you can leave your purse or anything else you don't want to carry while playing. This is such a great bonus! The wonderful staff members explained everything before we got started and made sure we knew how to use the equipment. It was easy to follow along, even for us first timers. I get motion sickness easily and after about thirty minutes I started feeling like it might happen so I just lifted my headset and reminded myself that I'm just in a big blank room and that helped. My only complaint is that management should make sure the pathways for disabled people are not being blocked by signage. If you're looking for something different to do, I'd definitely recommend ZooCade. We all had a great time, and I'm ready to go back and try one of the other adventures. read more

Kids Birthday Party review! We've been two times now, this last time we hosted a birthday party there for 25 kids ages 7-11. It was so easy, we had someone who helped run the party super smooth and was ahead of us on everything including cake and clean up. All of the kids had a total blast!!! The best part was no one in our group had ever been there and that's what my little wanted. She wanted a birthday party place she has never been to a party before and we sure found it. The kids favorite parts were the hologram game rooms after the walkthrough experience and of course the arcade. The loved the walk through part but many got "bored" during the 3rd pass through but most of the other kids were really still enjoying it. So many parents were like how did you find this place? Hoping many more people do to keep it alive. Oooo and coolest part was the super imposed the birthday girl into the 3-D display by the party tables. That was a huge hit!!! Had really high hopes for this bc it really is an interesting concept. Booked a "zoo" tour and a room as a family package for 2 kids (7 and 10) and 2 adults. The venue is built in the open warehouse-like area with short sectioned areas. So the arcade is one of the first things you see, then two of the VR games areas, with the rooms in the back and the zoo to the side. We opted to do the dinosaur zoo tour, which was actually pretty cool. Remember, this is a holographic concept so don't expect AI quality graphics. The zoo consists of you going through a walking circular maze which is divided into 3 sections. So after 1 section, you round the corner to the next and then have to wait for the screen to count down telling you to go into the next section (mainly so you don't interrupt the group in front of you). Wait times vary from 80 secs to 10 secs which weren't too bad. We definitely all agreed that we liked the dinosaur zoo. After, we had to wait about 8-10 min before we could get into our room bc the main guy was helping set up the VR people. So the kid sent us to the Photo Booth area which prompted you through multiple photo scenes and how to pose for them, as well as short video shots (think running away from T-Rex). Very cute photo concept and definitely a great opportunity to capture a fun photo. We of course stuck with the Dino theme for our photos but you had about 5-6 themes. Skip the private holographic room. It was only a half room and you have to swap glasses with each other to complete tasks. The kids were immediately bored with this and the experience wasn't great for the adults either. Before leaving, we opted to buy the kids some gaming credits. They offer a variety of options ($10=40 credits, $20=90, etc.) and the games vary in credit costs between 3-6 credits for arcade games and up to 8 credits for the claw games. Definitley more expensive than other local arcade places so would def skip this too. We didn't do the VR but I'm also glad we didn't. We (the adults) have done a VR experience (around the Domain) and they had theirs set up into sectioned off rooms for more privacy. Zoocade's VR rooms are out in the open and feel less private. I imagine they can definitely get distracting with all the noise from the zoo tour videos and the arcade area. Spending over $150 for this experience was not worth it and was more disappointing than exciting. If you're going to try it out, then I'd recommend only doing the zoo portion (dinosaur or under the sea). Really, really wanted to like this place but unfortunately, it didn't live up to our kids, or our expectations. read more

While scrolling on FB, an ad for the Unreal Garden caught my attention. After a quick read, I learned that it was a Verse Immersive experience using augmented reality for a scavenger hunt. My friends and I decided to go check it out after seeing that the Zoocade wasn't too far away. Although it is recommended to pre-purchase your tickets for your timed entry slot, we winged it and did a walk-in. Fortunately, we able to purchase tickets and the wait was less than 15 minutes. Once inside, you are guided to a small area to have a seat and to watch a very short instructional video on how to maneuver through the game. Then someone fits you with an AR headset and you "press" the start button when you're ready. You have 30 minutes to go through the quest. As you complete each task, new objects appear - important to look all around and up and down in order to see all of the images shown to you. It was an expensive yet interesting experience. The facility also offers other games to play and adventures to experience, including an arcade. I also notice a large seating area that appeared to be reservable for parties. Near the entrance there is a gift shop to purchase some items. It is an area that can be fun for all ages, if you're in to these types of games and experiences. Highly sophisticated systems project three-dimensional images of various animal species with remarkable realism. To fully immerse yourself in this digital wildlife encounter, visitors are provided with special 3D glasses. These glasses allow the holographic animals to appear as tangible, three-dimensional figures within the zoo's enclosures. Wander through meticulously designed habitats where lions roam grassy plains, vibrant birds soar through the air, and aquatic creatures glide through shimmering water - all rendered in breathtaking holographic detail. The hologram zoo provides a unique opportunity to witness the beauty and diversity of the animal kingdom in an entirely new and engaging way. During our visit, we elected to do the zoo only (Africa) but did not do the hologram room nor participate in a verse. It took us approximately one hour to get through the zoo tour, which is essentially 5 rounds of walking through "the zoo" as well as taking some souvenir photos and green screen video. While this place is on the higher end for what it is, but really what in ATX isn't at a high cost? This location is worth a trip if only once. read more

I took my 11-year old son here as a fun day with dad, and we had a blast! The staff was really nice, and they proactively offered the bundled pricing since we were buying 3 experiences. Not everyone wore name tags, so I can't call everyone out who helped us, but Joey, Clinton, and Brandon were all helpful! The manager was great to chat with, too! My son said, "I think the staff was really nice." Full disclosure: They gave him a free snack because it was his birthday. We were there for almost 4 hours, and we leisurely completed 3 activities, and we spent $142 in total for 2 of us: $57 Life Chronicles - This is a 45-minute immersive expedition that took us on a historical tour of the Earth, allowing us to be in the action from 3.5 billion years ago to 500 million years ago to 300 million years ago to 67 (yep...I got to hear THAT in VR) million years ago and then a few more until we made it home! The kid loved this, and this was his favorite. My son said, "I think it was cool that the machine guided us and kept us from running into walls. And, I think it's cool that the machine scans the walls and floors to know where you are...that was really cool." They said it lasted 45 minutes. $28 Space 3D Hologram Zoo - This is interesting...this one is AR (augmented reality), not VR. You walk along a holographic wall where we could see planets and space stations. There is 1 longer section, then 3 small sections. The longer section was really worthwhile to me. Even though it's not immersive, I still enjoyed the experience (it felt like the 3d-element worked better here). I even learned that Europa may have ice volcanos! My son said, "That was amazing, really cool, crazy cool. I liked that there was more than one projectors in the first room, so it looked like asteroids were really floating. I also liked the folding 3-D papers they gave out." $57 Space-Themed VR Escape Room - With only 2 of us in there, we didn't escape...ok, we only completed 56%. BUT, he chose it as a surprise to me! It was fun, but getting used to manipulating the environment without actually touching things was challenging. Plus, he's shorter, so there were parts he couldn't reach. This one had a technical problem that caused us to sit in the headgear for at least 15 minutes before they could get us going. My son said, "I really like that we could open and close our hands (and make them double-jointed) and that we could throw things." If you're on the fence, I thought this was much better than just going to play video games at one of the usual destinations. read more

First off i want to give a huge shoutout to the staff, they are very helpful and engaging with all the participants. It was amazing to have them. This place is one of those places you always see on a sign but never come, well don't make that mistake if you have kids make sure that you bring them. Made a special trip just to see this place after seeing an ad on a Instagram. No one I talked to in Austin even knows it existed!! But this place is sooo cool! My 12-year old son and I had the best time! We spent all morning going through all 3 experiences and playing in the holographic game rooms! The staff was so friendly and helpful. Zoocade is a lot of fun. This was our first time doing hologram/VR, and we all really enjoyed it, and the staff is also great. We did Horizon of Khufu (VR), and I felt like I was really there, and it looked awesome. I want to visit Egypt now. The zoo was fun, and I like that they have a few different themes you can pick from. It's great for younger kids, but we adults enjoyed it too. The last thing we did was the hologram room, monster escape. There were two different adventures/escapes, and we all got several chances to "take the lead." I'm really glad we found Zoocade; it was a great way to spend the afternoon! read more

Fun for kids and adults, experience VR and 3D projections. I did the dinosaurs exhibit it was ok, I felt it was a little short for the amount of dinosaurs we know about, it was cool visually but I thought it would be informal like a documentary. Then I did the Egypt exhibit and that was VR, pretty cool and roughly 45-50min walk thru with headsets on. read more

We went last night and did the Immersive experience. There were only two staff people putting the headsets on customers so we waited quite a while. We did the Primal Fighter and the Star Walk. I get headaches pretty quickly from VR experiences but the headsets were not super tight and you could still see what was going on around you. read more

This place is so great. So much to do...the VR attractions are so real...Horizon of Khufu and Life Chronicles...so different but both appeal to all ages. I particularly love the VR escape rooms. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. You can easily spend multiple hours here exploring all it has to offer. Can't wait to see what is next. read more

I hate to do this because I love the idea of it as a family activity but it's just such low quality. Took 3 kids to see the Christmas one. The graphics are terrible. It's like wearing a painful heavy headset and watching a video game from the 90s. It does not feel like objects are jumping out in front of you or are 3d. The experience itself was just the same thing over and over. Reach out and "grab" a present or snowflake. I honestly should have just set fire to 150 dollars. read more

I have been 3 times since it opened! I wanted to see everything before I gave my review. First, the glasses are amazing! I have never seen such 3d glasses before. The "zoo keeper" said they autoclave every single pair after use. I love that. The visual effects are sensational! I was behind my kid and it looked like a prehistoric dolphin was swimming through his hair! The whole thing was just a fantastic tour. You walk through and see everything through the screen, over and from under. The sound is good too. They offered a few different tours, my favorite was the dinosaur! They have also implemented a couple of VR rooms. There are several programs to interact with the whole family in the room. We had a blast! It literally tells you when it's time to pass the special glasses to the next family member. They have a nice little arcade, and I want to say that I like the prices on them. I know it's a strange thing to say, but when you have 3 kids and you want to make sure everyone gets to play with the game card, it's important that it's affordable. The crane games are winnable! There's a duckies crane that you can play until you win! Also, they have an awesome photo booth! I've done it every single time I have gone. It's absolutely free. It's interactive and you can download it to your phone. You can have birthday parties here and the people are really friendly. I've told several people about this place. My friend came from up near Dallas, and even my landlord came with his family! The best thing I can say about this place? It's not just a great time with the whole family, it's an experience. It's definitely not worth the money. You walk in a circle, and see the same 4 screens. You start one cycle watch the 4 screens, and the next cycle it's different things that are displayed. You have a short period of time to do it, but honestly you can finish before the time is up. Then you have a countdown before you can enter the next screen. Took a 6 and 5 year old, they were entertained, but neither mentioned it when we left, and neither has requested to go back. read more
