i highly recommend NOT shopping at winnie couture in austin!! i went with a friend of mine for her…read moreto try on wedding dresses and from the moment we walked in, it wasn't a great experience. there was only one other group in there at the time, but by the time my friend entered the dressing room, they were gone. the store is very small, which is fine, but when we walked in there were two female employees standing behind the desk, neither of which greeted us. there was a very small selection of dresses and we were told to pick what she wanted to try on. once it came time to try the dresses on, my friend was not offered any help whatsoever so myself and our other party guest had to go into the dressing room, which was very small, to help the bride. my friend absolutely fell in love with a dress and asked for a few different veils to try on and as she was putting them on, both employees stood behind the desk and laughed at her to the point that one of them was squatting down to try and hide. this made her immediately feel uncomfortable and she wanted to leave. she tried on one more dress and they again, laughed while behind their little desk. unfortunately, this led to my friend not wanting to buy a dress that she loved and when i asked the two employees if there was a manager i could speak to, i was told they were not allowed to give out that information. as i spoke to them to let them know why what they did wasn't okay, they just shook their heads and didn't speak. winnie couture is not a welcoming environment at all and i don't suggest any bride go there to try on dresses.

A locally owned theater that cares about independent filmmakers in Austin, has a quality bar with great drinks, and shows movies from all genres, old and new? What else can you ask for? The seats are pretty traditional for a movie theater and aren't those high tech recliner joints they're making everyone sit in these days. The sound was strong, which is important for a concert film like Stop Making Sense, and it looked great on the big screen. The staff was all pretty nice to me and my friend, and I loved the overall vibe AFS gives. I do hope to go see more showings here because I was very impressed with the atmosphere and feeling they curate for Austin. God, I hate these type of things to be frank, but I had recently merged my practice with some fellow colleagues. We all knew each other well already. However, to my surprise, this went remarkably well. The games that you get to participate in are familiar with anyone who has ever watched day time contest shows. They were knock offs of familiar puzzle shows and the hour goes by quickly. I like the fact that your teams are randomly selected, rather than the group picking who wants to be with who. I would imagine you can pick you own as well. From my conversations with our COO, there was a questionnaire sent out to get some bio's, background information of our group to make the questions relative to who we are and what we do. This made it much more comfy, if you would. The host was funny and engaging, kept the party going. You can BYOB, but at 11am, it seemed a little early even for this rowdy bunch of hooligans. Oddly, feeling this rather campy if you would at first, I quickly got into the spirit of the moment. There were loads of laughs and banter going back and forth. Our team won the game itself. One suggestion, you may want to purchase a small little trophy to be given to the winning team for bragging rights and to fight for the next time you go. The location is a little off piste, but you'll find it. I would recommend car pooling, although since we were there pretty early, we didn't have an issue finding spaces. All in all, my thoughts are we had a great teaming event, which we talked about and shared more laughs at our luncheon afterwards. Check them out!

The game show experience was super fun and engaging for the 17 year old kids as well as their parents. The whole group had a blast! The only frustrating thing was how long it took them to get our game show experience started. It's expensive for 2 hours and we played for less than 90 minutes. Some of their start up logistics could be better as to maximize game time. Due to the time crunch, not everyone in our group got to play the plinko game which everyone wanted to play. Fix that and it's a five star experience!
