Such a beautiful n wonderful experience for kiddies to explore learn n use there motor skills Along with exploring n learning Out little loved every installation that they had in every single room. I don't think there was a time where she wanted to leave to go from one to the next. Prices is per kiddie N adult They have parties and discounts U can spend all day or just some of the day They also validate some for parking

For a kids science museum, this one is sort of lacking by a lot. As a play place- super fun. I just choose to see it as the latter and not compare it to other major cities science museums for children. The membership is worth it, without one an adult and two kids is about $60. I think the membership would be paid off in two-three visits. We have enjoyed so many of the programs here. Baby bloomers in particular is really when this place shines. It's open earlier for toddlers only. They set up special stations within their already set up rooms and it usually has a fun theme. It is so chill because there's no big kids knocking your little one around. My kids can easily spend half an hour doing Independent play in the water room. There are benches that circle the room and make every spot in the room visible, they provide croc style shoes so theirs don't get wet and aprons. The employees are good at announcing story time and they are usually really fun. They have a pretty strict no food rule- totally fine. Do wish they had a small area where you could do snacks because walking outside on a cold or rainy day is not great. We did attend the gingerbread house workshop today and the kids had a blast. At the heart of it the employees make this place magical.

We had the best time here! There were so many rooms including building areas, sciences areas, water play, outdoor play and more. Our favorites were the science room and then Lego room. The kiddos did not want to leave. The staff is kind and helpful. While there wasn't much staff in the different areas, when they were around they cleaned, picked up and helped. Def recommend it as a fun indoor activity to get out of the heat. Even the outdoor area is covered and shady.

We had a great time at the Thinkery! My daughter and I went on a Sunday morning and it was busy, but the museum is quite large so there was plenty to do. My daughter is 1.5 and some of the exhibits are better suited for older children, she still had a blast! There's also a dedicated space upstairs for smaller kiddos so that was nice. There is a parking strucutred locate dbehind the Thinkery where you can park and they will validate your parking which is a nice perk! Tickets are a bit on the higher end, but they offer various discounts and memberships as well.

A no brainer for new parents in Austin. A super thoughtful museum with great detail. Worth the membership in my opinion.

This was a fun experience. While the building was no where near capacity, there were definitely rooms that should probably have capacities as it felt very crowded at times. Our little one enjoyed the room with building blocks (and Legos), he enjoyed the chicken coop, and loved the water area.

We had so much a great experience at the Thinkery! There are so many things to do and try for the kids, you truly could spend half the day there just wondering around. I love how the setup allows you to try different stations, but come back to it if it was something that you really liked. There is an entry fee, but they do offer free days if cost is an issue. My children love it and can't wait to go back. The play kitchen may have been a crowd favorite or the water station because who doesn't love to make a splash?! Swipe through the photos to see some of the stops!

We got there early on a Saturday for the younger children session 8a-10a and it was a delight. There are soooo many wonderful ways for them to build motor skills, learn life lessons, color, numbers, pretend play and so much more. There are ways to learn for children on ALL levels. An awesome opportunity for your child to develop and meet news friends. Would definitely recommend if you have children aged birth to adults.

A bit of construction going on for a new installation today but we still had an amazing time! There was an artist taking video of some open space for a new art installation which we are SO excited for!

My friends and I enjoying the Jingle Booze event.

What is the current cost of tickets? I am not keen on signing up/registering Just to see the cost of current entry.

For baby bloomers, I pay $9 per person (including baby). I believe regular admission is more.

Any idea when mask policy will be removed?

If you take you kids, do you pay for adult tickets too?

Yes. All kids 24+ months and adults are $12.

What age do you think is best for the thinkery?

3-11. They do have areas for babies but to really let them enjoy everything including the outside playscape I would say 3-11. My 11 year old still enjoys coming!

Personally, I think I'd prefer to pay ($10 per adult, 4 and under are free) and have it be a little less crowded. The building is small, the hallways narrow, the elevator slow. I wasn't sure what to expect but I'd advise you to keep your expectations low. The museum is a bit dated, the building is old, and some of the exhibits felt antiquated. There is a certain charm to that. Plus, you can see everything in one short visit. They did make it ADA accessible -- there's a separate entrance for wheelchairs and strollers. There's a wheelchair ramp available for the inaccessible areas (like the paleontology exhibit). For strollers, I'd recommend just leaving it upstairs and holding your kid. The exhibits are small so you won't be there for long. Gift shop had a nice selection of cute gifts/souvenirs. Easy parking in the San Jacinto garage next door. Cost us $6 or something like that. While the woman's restroom had a diaper changing station, I don't think the men's did. I noticed a dad going in to change his son's diaper (he verbally noted it to the mom) and walked right back out. If they want to be accommodating to families, this might be an upgrade worth making. FYI: they're card only, no cash.

This place might honestly be my favorite spot I've ever visited. I love oddities, and they are surprisingly hard to find all together like this. Walking through here felt like running away to the circus in the best way. Every room has something that makes you stop and stare. Shrunken heads, two-headed specimens, medical oddities, freak show history, UFO lore, Movie props and replicas! and so much more. I appreciated that it felt more like a cabinet of curiosities than a haunted house vibe. The exhibits are thoughtfully laid out, and there's a genuine feeling of love for weird history here. It doesn't feel cheesy. You can take your time, read signs, and really soak it all in if you want, or just wander around wide eyed and delighted like me. If you're into oddities, curiosities, circus history, strange science, or just being a little weird inside, this place is an absolute must while you're downtown. I left smiling and already wanting to go back. Honestly, if this is your thing at all, you'll get it immediately. One small but important thing to note, especially for the rest of my disabled community: there is no bathroom on site. While they do let you leave and come back if needed, that still means stepping out and trying to find a restroom on a very busy downtown Austin street. It was honestly really stressful and upsetting for me. However...that didn't ruin the experience for me because I love it so much, but it's definitely something to be aware of and the only reason this lands at 4 stars instead of 5.

The exhibits highlighting Texas under Mexican rule, the revolution, land certificates, and the formation of the Republic of Texas were especially fascinating. You really get a sense of how law, governance, and political interests shaped the path of the state. That said, the visit also prompted some critical reflection. History is not just about what is displayed, but also what is absent. During my visit, another guest mentioned that a prior exhibit featuring Black culture from that historical period had been present in 2024 but was no longer there. I cannot independently confirm this, but it certainly sparked important thoughts about how historical narratives are curated and evolve over time especially in light of the current political climate. As a PhD student in public administration and policy, I view spaces like this as starting points for deeper inquiry rather than definitive accounts. Despite any perceived gaps, the museum offers an engaging and visually impressive exploration of Texas history that is well worth visiting. I left with plenty to think about and even more to research on my own.
