I created a yelp account just to be able to share about my experience with Murph at Car Zone. I'll echo the last review and say that here, you get no bull-shit. I've lived all over the Boston area and dealt with numerous small shops and even large chains. For the last 3 years no matter what any shop says I go to Murph to double check and get work done. I live 35 minutes away in Dorchester and it's by no means convenient for me to use them, but.. I will NEVER use anyone else. Head in early, drop off your car, go across the street to the D.D's, have a coffee, use free wi-fi, and by the time you finish your snack, Murph and his team will let you know what's up with your car. Professional, polite, helpful and happy to explain everything for the layperson. Murph and his team are exceptional mechanics and quality people that I'm happy to give my business to and recommend to others. Best in Boston. read more

These guys are the nicest most honest mechanics I have met. Will definitely be going to them for all my auto repairs. I tried to pay for a flat tire service but they kept insisting it was free. Not a very common experience at a mechanic shop for sure. Definitely give them a try! read more

I called the Tuesday before Thanksgiving break and even though they said they were booked through the weekend Murph asked what I needed done and said I could come in on Wednesday. I got there and they took my car immediately, showed me what was wrong, how they were going to fix it and all the steps. As someone who knows nothing about cars this was extremely kind and showed me these guys are the real deal. Would 1000% come here and again and recommend it to everyone! read more

Phenomenal shop. These guys have fixed a few issues for me and I have had overwhelming good experiences. I never have to wait long (I call ahead to be sure), they are careful to figure out the issue and then solve it well. The owner seems super honest and the price is definitely reasonable. read more

Very honest service - excellent communication. If you have a Honda or Acura, I would recommend Murph here over a dealer. Also the sign says "Car Zone" now so look for that. read more

This is my first Yelp review EVER because the service here is THAT good! I thought I needed new tires after getting advice from another mechanic so I came in to get the tires rotated as a short term solution. The owner checked my tires. He said they were in great condition with even wear and I did NOT need new tires. He was so kind and so knowledgeable and helpful. He took time to show me what to watch for and explained things to me. He then did multiple things for the car. NO charge!!! I don't think I'll go to another mechanic any time soon. The excellent reviews of this place are NOT hype. PLEASE take your car to Carzone!! Thank you, Murph! You're fantastic!!! Appreciate your help very much. Blessings to you!!! read more

I never write reviews, good or bad, mostly out of sheer laziness. But Murph and the guys at Car Zone really deserve it. They are consistently friendly, honest, and even generous. They always SHOW you what's wrong with the car rather than just tell you. Every time I have had a leaky tire they were honest about when it could and could not be patched. When they have just patched it, they did so quickly and NEVER charged me. I have also taken my car there for more "serious" repairs. Their prices are fair and they have never tried to convince me that something needed repair that didn't...unlike many other places (ahem, old Mobil station on Fresh Pond). I highly recommend you make Murph and his team your go-to mechanic. read more

I've dropped by twice at Car Zone already, once for my oil change and once to check my brakes. Both times, I was greeted by the friendliest mechanics and received in depth explanations of the service. I don't know much about cars, but Murph, the main mechanic, put it in terms I could understand. He was also very honest and transparent with his all recommendations. Car Zone will be my go to service center from now on. read more

Incredibly quick service done by an incredibly kind crew. Owner is super kind. I had a little fix with one of my wheels being misaligned, and they had me in and out the door very quickly. Definitely will be going here for any car needs again read more

I went in there expecting something wrong with my car...less than 15 minutes, all they said was that my tire pressure was off - Murph and crew reflated the tires and didn't charge me a dime. I'll be back for other services since it appears they understand customer service. BTW, if you get a free service from them, I would recommend at least getting gas from the place as a trade-off. It's the same price as Hess, so you're not going to get ripped off. read more

Wow, such awesome reviews! I was due for an oil change so I had to stop in. It was around lunchtime on a Wednesday. Oh-so-famous Murph was apparently busy, as it was estimated to take over an hour. :( I also inquired about my maintenance light that came on, turned out to be nothing. Yay. I followed other's suggestions to the dunkin donuts across the street to pass the time. I came with a book and time passed by so fast that I didn't even realize it had been an hour already. Murph actually came into dunkin donuts to let me know that my car was ready! (I had told him that I would be waiting there). Above and beyond... :) My only discrepancy, if you can even call it that, is I wanted to know more about tire-care (if you will). When to change them, rotate them and if I should get all-weather ones, he didn't seem to think snow tires were necessary and didn't think I needed to change them at all, which was nice I suppose. But he wasn't all that attentive either, his cell phone kept ringing off the hook. Busy man, I suppose. Alas, I wanted his undivided attention to my ever-so important tires! hehe :) Nevertheless this place is awesome! Definitely come by! read more

This place definitely looks shady, I must admit.... but they do awesome work and they are FRIENDLY....yes, I said it.....FRIENDLY! Murph is the man. I called Saturday afternoon last minute to see if they could replace my injured tire, Murph answered and he said to come down right away so they could pick up a tire for me in Brookline. I went there and he looked at the model, He told me he would call me when my tire was delivered and in an hour, he called me to come in to have it mounted and balanced. He estimated it to be $140.... and yes it was $146.25 with tax. SWEET. I will return here for future car problems! It's close to my house too! read more

Best shop! Honest People! I completely forgot about Honda Zone as my friends dont live/work in central sq anymore. I just read the review by LJF and all the memories came back. The owner Murph, is the most honest mechanic in mass. He has always been helpful and accommodating. Nough said... read more

I called the team there out of the blue this Saturday morning, having never visited the shop before but having read their reviews on yelp, and I can say that they surpassed even their most magnanimous praise! The staff could not have been more courteous, the job (changing mounted summer tires to mounted snow tires) was done in less than 15 minutes (after a minor wait for the car in front of me), and the whole time my wife and I waited in the DD across the street. To say I am pleased with the service and the value for the money would be a gross understatement. If you have any tire related issues you should, WITHOUT A DOUBT, visit these guys! read more

I recently wanted to purchase a very low mileage Honda Civic but wasn't sure if the car was as good as it looked from the outside. These guys thoroughly checked the car without charging a penny. We even chatted about a fair price that I should pay for the car without any "consulting fees". Now I have a minor issue with the car and this will be the first place that I will go. Thanks guys! read more

This has been the only garage I have ever been to where I don't worry about getting ripped off or misled. Murph is awesome and does a great job! Usually pretty fast, very fair prices, and great work. When I asked if I needed new tires, Murph carefully looked them over and said "No, you can definitely get at least another season out of these!" He could have easily sold me new tires but instead was very honest. Go see Murph and the other guys at Car Zone! read more

This is the kind of business I love! The guys are super friendly and efficient! I went there after getting great recommendation from my friends in order to get my side mirror replaced and they were really fast! They literally started taking my broken mirror off while I was still in the car. They also offered me a great price! I had called 5 other places, all of them more expensive and those guys don't overcharge. Just great! read more

I like this little place. That was my second visit with my Tesla when they picked up a nail in my tier. they were very helpful, friendly , professional. I will definitely come back if I need help with my car read more

I got a free diagnostic from car zone and they told me exactly what was wrong! Very helpful and trustworthy! I will go back to them if needed read more

Always friendly and helpful, very reasonable prices. Murph knows his stuff really well. One time my exhaust system was damaged and he recommended a shop 30-40 minutes north of Boston that welded it back together, whereas a typical auto repair place would have charged me a lot more to install new parts. read more

Saved my day today! Got a nasty screw stuck in my back tire and needed it plugged (of course need the car this week for a few important things). All shops close at 2pm, except CarZone. Got seen right away, and out in less than 15 mins. They wouldn't even charge for the service! I think we just found our new mechanic. Thank you ... this was much needed and appreciated today!!! read more

Great, fast and friendly service! I called In the morning and they said to come on over. My tire was fixed in no time. Everyone was so friendly! read more

Small location....great service. I'd go back for sure. We'll see if my problem was actually "nothing" that he could see--no charge for this inspection which was nice. Hopefully he was right...but if something does come up I will certainly go back for the service here! I'm updating my review....this place is the best! Every time I go I get great service and feel like a learn a bit about my car. "Murph" gives great advice and does not push pricey fixes on your car. I just wish there were more mechanics out there like those who work here!! read more

Murph is awesome. Had a break light on my CRV that broke after my wife backed it up into a tree. Took it to CarZone. Murph told me to buy a part myself online, and installed it for free since it would take him about 30 seconds. Had a O2 sensor go bad on a roadtrip to California. Out of warranty. Got a $400 quote from a dealer in AZ. Called Murph. He said he couldnt believe I was still calling him from AZ :) Anyway, he said I could go ahead and drive it to CA, find the part and get it installed at a local mechanic for much cheaper. Saved me an extra night at a hotel and an arm and a leg at the dealer. read more

When I needed to assess a flat tire, I went here because of the high Yelp rating and totally understand how they got 5 stars. I called in on a Saturday since my tired had gone flat the night before and I had no idea if it was patchable or if I needed a totally new one to switch with my spare. They told me to swing by whenever I liked, and when I came by 20 minutes later the service man came right out, took my tire out of my trunk, and within 30 seconds found the problem (a piece of scrap metal stuck in it) and said he'd patch it right away at NO CHARGE! I backed my car right up to the service bay, he jacked my Civic right up, put the patched tire on (patched with real rubber so it will only strengthen with wear) and put my spare back very nicely in my trunk. The whole thing took maybe 10 minutes start to finish, and he even gave me the scrap metal to keep as a souvenir. Super nice and helpful man, will definitely go back there! read more

Wow! I went here due to the reviews. This is the real deal... It looks a little shabby when you drive up, but don't let that turn you off. Murph fixed my leaky tire in less than the time it took my 2 year old to eat a donut (literally)... and he didn't charge me anything! I hope this review counts as payment :) Thanks Murph!! If necessary I'll come back to Car Zone anytime. read more

They do not cheat. I did my car maintenance in another place, which told me that my suspension needs to change immediately. They already changed my tyres for around 1000 around 3 months ago. So this time I feel suspicious. My car is Toyota, and only runs for 46,000 miles. Why everything needs to change. Then I found Car Zone. They did examination and told me, "Your car is all good. Nothing needs to change." What can I say? They are not tempted by making quick money, but I will trust them for my future go-to place. read more

Believe the reviews! There is no better shop than Car Zone. I'm a car guy and I never leave reviews, especially positive ones. Car Zone is from another time when customer service, honesty, and general good people ruled the Earth. Flew back from the West Coast on a red eye only to find my tire flat for an early morning meeting. Put on the donut & made my way to Car Zone - was greeted like I was an old friend and told to pull in right away. A quick inspection and a "no problem. it's a nail in tread. it will take 10 minutes." 10 minutes later I'm told, "All set, no charge." NO CHARGE?! "Yep, you've already had a trying day." They waved me off with a smile and finished repair. No doubt about it - these are my guys. They should be yours too. read more

Murph does a great job. Highly trusted and honest guy. I have had him work on several of my vehicles and my girlfriends and he has been transparent, friendly, supportive and pretty much everything I come to expect in a trusted mechanic. I moved to the area recently after going to the same guy for 10 years and I look forward to working with Murph for as long as I'm local! read more

THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE TO BRING YOUR CAR. I haven't even gotten my car back yet and am scheduled to grab it later this afternoon, but I cannot tell you how blown away I am by how amazing this place is. Murph is incredible; his customer service knows no bounds, he is kind, patient, knowledgable, and simply wants to help. I dropped off my car early this morning and was super annoying (I had a billion questions and then called back with another problem for him to unexpectedly check) and he has been nothing but friendly, responsive, and willing. He nicely reminded me I needed my car inspected first (without a lick of judgement!) and he gave me a recommendation, directions on how to get there, and instructions on what to do afterward. Man, I already know that there is no other place I'll ever bring my car to from now on. Murph, I hope you live forever because I'm going to keep coming back to you for a long, long time! read more

Car Zone is a scam and I would highly recommend you consider taking your repairs elsewhere. In May 2018, I brought my Toyota Avalon in for inspection and they informed me I should get new front brake pads (~$250) within the next few months. I made appointment for five days later, and within that five days I had "burned through front calipers" and now had $880 worth of repairs. Now, only 20 months and 14,000 miles later, I brought my car to a trusted mechanic and they informed me I need entirely new front brake pads, rotors and calipers for $650. Car Zone lied about the urgency of my front brake pads, let me drive my car off the property, upcharged me for a repair, and did a horrible job with it. Learn a lesson from me, and take your business elsewhere. read more

Very surprised and delighted with Murph. We took the car in since it had been over six months since we had the oil changed We had not driven much so it not the mileage but the time that brought us in. Murph explained that the higher quality oil we used lasted longer, we we did not need the oil change until we got the recommended mileage. Murrph topped off the brake and wiper fluid and sent us on our way without charge. Thanks! read more

Car Zone was great. I spoke to Murph on a Friday afternoon about some general maintenance I needed done to my car and he was able to schedule my appointment for the following Monday! I was in and out in an hour. Murph and his guys are efficient and friendly! Glad to have a mechanic in the city highly recommend. read more

The nicest most professional, honest guy you could have. Thanks Murph for everything.needed a car inspected before purchase, the best!

This place is phenomenal. I've been bringing my car here for years and have always felt like I've been treated fairly and with good and fast service. Now that I'm moving across the country I've got to find a mechanic as good as Murph! Highly recommended. read more

Wow, this place is quite the find. I work in Cambridge and had a slow leak in my tire so I called them up, they told me to come down, and in 10 minutes my tire was patched. They even showed me the tiny pin hole causing the problem. For an extremely reasonable price. They are super nice guys, will definitely be back to use them again. Thanks Car Zone! read more

Murph is the man! He always fixes my car the same day or the next day I inquire about getting my car fixed. He is always cheaper then than the other guys. And if something doesn't need to be fixed right away he will let you know you can ride it out for a few months. Just so personable and not money hungry. read more

I was just at Car Zone with my Hyundai Tuscon. I had a nail in my tire. Murph and the crew patched my tire in 5 minutes and refused to take money from me. Murph said "You can go man, it's alright" and gave me a pat on the back. This sort of friendly attitude is so rare these days, I didn't even have any money for tips. Thanks again Murph, I got some gift cards coming your way :) read more

My car wasn't running as smoothly as it used to so I decided it was probably time for a tune-up. I called a local dealership, knowing they would probably charge more, and they quoted beginning at $500. I decided to call Honda Zone after all the great reviews I'd read here and the quote they gave me was 300 less than the dealership. I understand dealerships are more costly, I just didn't realize how much! The tune-up was great. My car runs very smoothly now and I had mentioned that I needed new windshield wipers and they installed it for me for free. Very nice guys and quick turn around. The shop is small, unassumming and you might miss it the first time you drive down Broadway. It's close to the Dunkin Donuts and is attached to the gas station. read more

I was moved to submit my first Yelp review to praise this garage. I brought a used car I was thinking about purchasing in to have it looked at. Murph was fantastic! As a female, I sometimes feel like I am being taken for a ride with mechanics...But Murph was completely above-board, told me what needed to get fixed, what didn't, and what might in the future. AND, when I got stuck in a time crunch trying to pass inspection to register the car I ended up purchasing, he even let me borrow his car in the midst of a huge snowstorm to get to work!! Bring your car here for honest, quality service. read more
